Sheryl Crow Takes Aim at “The New Normal” in Bold New Single with The Real Lowdown

0

Nine-time GRAMMY AWARD winner and 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Sheryl Crow released her latest single, “The New Normal,” out now via The Valory Music Co.

The track was written, recorded, and produced in collaboration with The Real Lowdown, Crow’s incredible touring band of 15 years comprised of Fred Eltringham (drums, percussion), Audley Freed (electric guitar), Jen Gunderman (keyboards), Robert Kearns (bass), and Peter Stroud (electric guitar).

In “The New Normal,” Crow takes a bold stance on the state of our political climate and the rapid, unpredictable advancements in artificial intelligence, topics she has continued to express strong concern and uneasiness about over the last several years. She sings, “Is it science fiction of prediction wrapped in George Orwell. If the news is fake and fear is hate, and nothing’s immoral. To the leader of the free world. Then, welcome to the new normal.”

Never one to hold back, Crow continues to use her voice for good, creating fiercely outspoken and timely music that is deeply rooted in authenticity, and “The New Normal” is no exception. “What’s happening all around us is so unbelievably bizarre, that my fear is we will truly begin to feel like this is normal. And that’s what terrifies me,” she shares.

Of working with her longtime touring band The Real Lowdown on this song, Crow says, “I am so blessed to have the band that I have. For years, we have jammed up such cool stuff during sound checks that we decided we go in and start recording as a band. Can’t wait for everyone to hear the new stuff we are doing.”

Luke Tyler Shelton Releases Debut EP ‘Blue Sky,’ Produced by Shooter Jennings and Jonathan Wilson

Luke Tyler Shelton releases his debut EP Blue Sky via Concord Records. Produced by Shooter Jennings (Brandi Carlile, Tanya Tucker) and Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty, Angel Olsen), Shelton’s debut body of work merges country-rock, folk-pop, and Southern soul into songs that immediately transport the audience into a state of enchanted ease. With a style informed by his DIY community that holds a mirror to the near-mythic creative hotbed of early-70s Laurel Canyon, Shelton calls back a faraway time in a distinctive soul-soothing, windows-down type of way – Stream Blue Sky here.

After connecting with Jennings and Wilson, Shelton’s early music was recorded to tape with his close circle of friends at Wilson’s studio in the bohemian enclave of Topanga Canyon. Mixed by four-time Grammy-winner Trina Shoemaker (Sheryl Crow, Queens Of The Stone Age)-and also featuring Jennings’ longtime bandmate Ted Russell Kamp on bass and Wilson on drums, guitar, and Moog synth- Shelton’s debut EP achieves a certain rarefied magic, matching their exquisitely orchestrated sound with a free-flowing energy that instantly transfers onto the listener.

On today’s release, he shares, “‘Blue Sky’ is the title track and final single to be released as a part of my debut EP. I wrote it over two years ago and it’s still one of, if not my favorite song I’ve written so far. It’s one of few that I feel I wrote completely for myself, as I was going through a breakup and I think most people who listen to it have felt a similar type of relief that the song provided me during that time.”

Bex Lindsey Unveils Tender New Single “The Real You,” a Portrait of Longing and Possibility

0

Bex Lindsey releases new single, “The Real You.” The single is out now and you can listen on all digital streaming platforms. From the opening line -“I’d love to listen to your records on your hardwood floor, singing ’bout love we only thought we had before” – the song invites listeners into an intimate world of yearning, soft memories, and imagined futures. Your mind can’t help but wander to a moment, a person, or a fantasy of new love – one that feels safe, warm, and deeply grounding.

With the bittersweet nostalgia of an early 2000s indie romance, Lindsey creates a sonic landscape steeped in hope and quiet ache. Shimmering melodies pull us into a world where healthy love exists – where it’s kind, secure, and healing. But as the song gently reminds us, sometimes the person who shows you that kind of love isn’t the one you end up with.

As she confesses, “And I know this is all make pretend, you’re far away barely even a friend, you’re in love with someone somewhere else, but I’d like to think we could get together and work all that out,” Lindsey balances longing with grace. The song becomes less about loss and more about discovery – a love story not for another, but for yourself, for possibility, for the lesson of what’s real.

“The Real You” doesn’t shy away from the raw emotion many of us are taught to bury. Through vivid imagery, Lindsey paints a portrait of what it means to be seen. “You paint my white walls full of color and the most beautiful shade of blue,” she sings, bringing a subtle longing to light. This is Lindsey at her most exposed. “The Real You” is a mirror held up to memory, hope, and heartache – all wrapped in a melody that lingers long after the last note fades.

SiriusXM Highway Finds Ryan and Rory are readied for a breakthrough moment, with MusicRow calling them “poised to make major waves on the country music scene” and The Tennessean praising their “commercial polish and honest storytelling.” “Them Boots” is the next chapter in a breakout year for the duo, proving that when the beat hits just right, the dancefloor is wherever you want it to be.

10 Tips for Releasing Your First Single Without A Label

So you’ve got your song. It’s catchy. It’s real. It’s yours. And now you’re ready to release it into the world—without a label, but with all the heart and hustle of a garage band playing like it’s Madison Square Garden. Whether you’re dreaming of vinyl pressings or TikTok virality, here are 10 tried-and-true tips to help you launch your first single with confidence, creativity, and just the right amount of chaos.

1. Pick the right release date
Timing can make your song feel like it dropped from the stars. Pick a day that gives you room to promote, maybe tied to a season, event, or feeling that matches your track. Music lands even better when it feels like it belongs to the moment.

2. Distribute it everywhere
Use a digital distributor like DistroKid, TuneCore, or CD Baby to send your song to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and more. One upload, endless ears. It’s like the mixtape dream but global and instant.

3. Craft your cover art
Your song deserves a face. Use bold visuals, personal imagery, or something quirky that reflects your sound. Canva and Fiverr are great if you’re doing it yourself—just make it pop when people scroll.

4. Write a killer bio and pitch
Introduce yourself like your future self is already a legend. Keep it short, exciting, and true to your vibe. Journalists, bloggers, and playlist curators love a good story to go with a great song.

5. Build your pre-save campaign
Pre-saves on Spotify help signal buzz. Use tools like Show.co or Hypeddit to let fans lock it in before release day. Think of it as setting up the confetti before the celebration.

6. Make a launch plan
Treat your release like a party. Tease it on socials, share behind-the-scenes clips, post lyrics, maybe even a countdown. When you’re excited, your audience gets excited too.

7. Reach out to playlists
Curators are real people—many with great taste and open inboxes.Send a warm, genuine message with your track.

8. Play the content game
Post clips of your song on TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts—anywhere that moves fast and loud. Even a 15-second snippet of your chorus can light the spark for new fans.

9. Celebrate small wins
Every stream, comment, and DM is proof your music is connecting. Screenshot the milestones, share the love, and remember: every artist starts somewhere. You’re on the map now.

10. Keep your momentum
Have a follow-up plan ready—another song, a live session, a remix, even a lyric video. Keep your listeners engaged while the fire’s still warm, and let this single be the first step in your next chapter.

Releasing your first single without a label is a beautiful kind of chaos. It’s creative freedom, total control, and the thrill of building something from scratch. And when that first stream rolls in—yep, it’s just as magical as you imagined. So crank the volume and let it fly.
