A professed fan of all things Christmas, Chris Young is excited to announce his first-ever holiday tour – It Must Be Christmas – An Acoustic Evening with Chris Young. Tickets for the 15-date headlining shows are on sale starting Friday, August 8th at 10 am local time.

Young will be sharing the spirit of the season with his live take on holiday classics featured on his It Must Be Christmas album, released in 2016.

“Christmas is probably my favorite holiday,” shares Young. “Music was always heavily tied to the spirit of the season for me, so I can’t wait to celebrate that feeling with everyone out on the road this year!”

The Christmas tour news comes on the heels of announcing a new album — I Didn’t Come Here To Leave — releasing October 17th. The project marks the start of a new chapter. His tenth album, and first with Black River Entertainment, is a landmark project featuring 14 fresh songs over eleven co-writes. The album’s fall release date also coincides with another special milestone — the Grammy-nominated vocalist’s eighth anniversary of his induction into the exclusive membership of the Grand Ole Opry.

Young first teased the project with the 2025 single “Til The Last One Dies.” As the lead single from Young’s forthcoming album, “Til The Last One Dies” is rising on the country radio and streaming charts while the title track—“I Didn’t Come Here To Leave”—is available now!

Ashley McBryde announces a four-show residency at Chief’s ticketed venue, Neon Steeple. Each of the four nights of The Redemption Residency will be one-of-a-kind show experiences, with McBryde curating set lists, themes, and moments that could only happen here.

“The guys and I are so happy to be back in Nashville for four nights of ‘you had to be there’ moments to help close out this year,” McBryde says. “We’ve been making our kind of church wherever we go for years; from dive bars to back porches, Dahlonega to Lindeville. It’s something special to bring it all to the only Steeple on Lower Broadway.”

On Friday, McBryde announced her all-new non-alcoholic forward Redemption Bar. At home on the fifth floor of Eric Church’s Chief’s in the heart of Nashville’s Lower Broadway, Redemption is inspired by McBryde’s path to sobriety, designed as a welcoming space that honors authenticity, connection, and original songwriting.

Designed specifically with the singer-songwriter in mind, Redemption Bar features an intimate stage that accommodates troubadour-style performances only, holding one to two players max with an intentional focus on showcasing original music, and the creatives that make Music City, Music City. Attendees of The Redemption Residency shouldn’t be surprised if McBryde pops up a level before or after the four unique nights of curated music in the Steeple to dish out a double dose of Nashville magic on the Redemption stage.

Irish Alt-Rock Trio NewDad Share Poignant New Single “Pretty” Ahead of Upcoming Album ‘Altar’

0

Irish alt-rock trio NewDad share the latest glimpse into their forthcoming second album Altar with poignant new single “Pretty”, released today via Atlantic Records. The track stories the band’s love and admiration of Galway – their hometown – and arrives alongside a stunning visualizer set in the City, directed by longtime collaborator Peter Eason Daniels – one of the creative minds behind the visual world of Altar.

“Pretty” was conceived during one of the band’s early writing sessions in Galway last year alongside original band member Aindle O’Beirn, and follows the forerunning punchy-angst of “Roobosh” – the first taste of NewDad’s new era, released last month. While the first track offered catharsis through rage, “Pretty” in contrast, is a tender, introspective moment on the record – equal parts wistful and sharp. “‘Pretty’ is a lighter spin on a key theme of the album, homesickness. It was a way for me to express my adoration for Galway, it’s a love song really,” adds frontwoman Julie Dawson. Shimmering guitars and delicate melodies frame Julie’s hushed vocals as she contemplates “the way home looks, sounds, how even on the darkest, wettest days it’s the most beautiful place in the world to me and I yearn for it every single day of my life.” Like much of Altar, it captures NewDad’s evolving sound: dreamy yet grounded, wide in scope yet intimately personal.

“Coming to a place like London that’s so chaotic and overwhelming really made me appreciate the peace and quiet of home. Also the landscape, being able to see wide open fields and roads with no one on them it’s just so calming and I’m in love with it. That’s why I wrote this song” – Julie Dawson

Written across two years in the aftermath of the band’s relocation from Galway to London, Altar reflects on homesickness, identity, and the emotional cost of chasing a dream. It’s a record that balances light and dark, heaviness and healing, with frontwoman Julie Dawson explaining: “The album itself is where I divulge my love for home. It’s the idea that Ireland is the altar and it’s the thing that I worship, in a way.”

Produced and half co-written by Shrink (Sam Breathwick), with the second half co-written alongside Justin Parker, the album marks a bold step forward for NewDad, expanding their sonic palette by effortlessly blending dream-pop textures with jagged guitar lines and emotionally raw lyricism. Since their debut How in 2020, the Galway-born, London-based trio – Julie Dawson (vocals/guitar), Sean O’Dowd (guitar), and Fiachra Parslow (drums) – have earned international acclaim for their lush, immersive alt-rock sound. Following the release of breakthrough debut Madra in 2024, which saw them tour extensively across the UK, Europe, Asia, and North America and support acts like Pixies, The War on Drugs, and Fontaines DC, the band have grown in both confidence and clarity. Now, with Altar – a reflection on identity, sacrifice, and the tension between comfort and ambition – NewDad are poised to showcase an even bolder evolution and reach new creative heights. Following a huge run of headline shows across China and a run of festivals in Japan and North America, the trio will take the album on the road later this year for a UK/EU tour, full itinerary below

The Swell Season Perform Songs from New Album ‘Forward’ on CBS Saturday Sessions

0

The Swell Season-the beloved duo of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova-performed on CBS Saturday Morning: Saturday Sessions last weekend, playing three songs from their acclaimed first new album in 16 years, Forward.

Watch the band’s (featuring bassist Joseph Doyle, drummer Piero Perelli, and additional guitarist Simon Good) gorgeous performances of “Stuck In Reverse,” “People We Used To Be,” and “Great Weight” now.

Released last month, Forward has been earning praise and support from NPR Music, CNN (‘Hollywood Minute’), WNYC’s All of It, Paste, American Songwriter, The A.V. Club, No Depression, All Music, Vinyl Emergency podcast, Songwriters On Process podcast, This Song Is Yours podcast, and WXPN’s World Cafe, among many others.

The Swell Season recently wrapped the first leg of their Forward tour of the U.S. and Canada, and the tour will continue next month in St. Louis, MO, on September 9th. The run includes a September 19th stop at Los Angeles, CA’s The Greek, and a full itinerary is below.

When 16 years have passed since the release of their beloved duo’s previous album, 2009’s Strict Joy, it might be expected that Hansard and Irglova would title a new collection of The Swell Season songs as something commemorative or reflective instead of the succinct Forward. But, as anyone who has followed their career will tell you, The Swell Season doesn’t exactly do things the typical way. First formed by Hansard-then best known as the frontman of Irish rock band The Frames-and Czech pianist and singer Irglova in 2005, The Swell Season released a self-titled LP in 2006 before going on to star in and perform their songs in the film Once. Much-loved and critically praised, the movie catapulted them into the spotlight, and earned the duo the 2007 “Best Original Song” Academy Award for “Falling Slowly” before being adapted into a Tony-winning Broadway smash. Yet they have never spent much time looking back. So when the longtime friends decided amid their respective solo careers to officially reconvene for a handful of Swell Season shows in 2022, it led to not only a larger run of dates in 2023 but a recording session as well. A single, “The Answer Is Yes,” encouraged the pair to converge again in Irglova’s Iceland studio to write a new album in 2024, and from there, well, it seemed there was only one direction for The Swell Season to go. “It felt right to title the record ‘Forward’ because it’s a reunion of sorts, but we’re not going backwards,” Irglova says. “Both of us have grown and changed; we’re in different places and getting to know each other again as the new people we’ve become.”

Indie Rock Veterans Doves Announce ‘Best Of’ Compilation and Winter UK Tour Dates

0

Three decades of Doves music is celebrated this winter as the band announce further UK Tour dates and the release of a ‘Best Of…’ compilation, inclusive of unreleased music. Bringing the band’s frequently euphoric and occasionally brooding hits and rarities to record store shelves and stages, a night at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town is included in a run of four, newly announced dates accompanying news that So, Here We Are: Best Of Doves is to be released on multiple formats on Fri 14 November 2025 via EMI North.

All three members of Doves have hand-picked a collection of tracks to feature on So, Here We Are: Best Of Doves. The first such compilation to be pressed to vinyl, Doves promise singles, album tracks and rarities spanning their entire 27 year releasing history, a journey which began with their debut Cedar EP in November 1998. The full running order is to be announced in the coming months.

The band has given fans notice that the compilation will include a previously unreleased track. So, Here We Are: Best Of Doves will arrive on double vinyl, including standard black and collectors’ coloured variants, plus anticipated record shop exclusives. CD editions will also include a fans-only, alternative, deluxe packaging option.

Defiantly pushing through uncertainty to play a run of 16 sold out dates in support of their latest album, Constellations For The Lonely, through late-February and March this year, the Jez and Andy Williams-fronted Doves hint at a busy winter following a hectic summer festival season. Adding new headline dates, opening at Dundee’s LIVEHOUSE on Fri 12 December 2025, the brothers continue to meet fans’ demands to hear popular cuts from Doves’ six studio albums, while co-founding bassist and vocalist, Jimi Goodwin remains absent. Tickets go on general sale on Wed 13 August 2025 at 10am BST.

First announcing a revised live line-up in late 2024, the extensive Doves headline tour that followed included their first hometown dates in over a decade, playing two sold out nights at Manchester Aviva Factory. Since then, the band has continued to play Europe-wide headline and festival dates since, faithfully performing the band’s biggest singles, including There Goes The Fear, Pounding and Black And White Town.

Including their upcoming, landmark headline show at Halifax’s historic Piece Hall and all four, newly announced dates in Dundee, London, Bournemouth and Cambridge, all upcoming Doves UK Tour Dates are confirmed as follows:
Fri 22 Aug – Cumbria, Solfest

Sun 31 Aug – Birmingham, Moseley Folk & Arts Festival
Fri 12 Dec – LIVEHOUSE, Dundee – NEW

In this rare 1967 live performance, Jake Holmes takes the stage in Greenwich Village—likely at The Bitter End—for a stunning folk-psych set featuring “Genuine Imitation Life” and “Sleeping Woman.” Backed by minimal instrumentation and heavy on introspection, the set offers a raw look at Holmes before his iconic jingles and legendary songwriting credits. It’s a time capsule from a defining voice of the era, equal parts poetic and subversive.
