Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan Reunite for Nostalgic Punk Anthem “Young & Dumb” Ahead of Greatest Hits Tour

0

Diamond-certified global superstar Avril Lavigne released a perfectly raucous new song and music video for “Young & Dumb” featuring Simple Plan. A nostalgic yet modern anthem, “Young & Dumb” first finds Avril reflective on verse one as she looks back on the carefree early days of her career and ‘livin’ like a rockstar’ before Simple Plan jumps ’20 years later’ to present day in verse two and details how ‘somehow it feels like nothing’s changed.’

The video echoes the song’s sentiment and celebrates life on the road as it cuts between scenes of Avril and Simple Plan ‘trashin’ hotel rooms,’ a punk performance in an empty pool, and partying on the tour bus.

Avril announced the song Monday with a heartfelt social media post, reflecting on its meaning and origins, and dedicating it to fans: “This is such a full-circle moment. Not only did Simple Plan tour with me last year on the Greatest Hits Tour, but we also toured together in 2003 on my very first arena tour. We were so young – just a bunch of kids from small towns in Canada who had just released our debut albums. We connected instantly and became friends. A few months ago, I called them up, and we got together in the studio to write ‘Young & Dumb.’ We wanted to capture that special time in our lives – when everything was new, and we were chasing our dreams. This song is for our fans. It’s a tribute to the past, but also a celebration of the present. In our hearts, we’re still those same kids, and our love for music hasn’t changed. It’s about friendship, nostalgia, and the way music has kept us connected through the years. I can’t wait to share it with you live this summer.”

“We’re so excited to finally release a song with our good friend Avril,” said Simple Plan. “After years of touring and hanging out together, getting in the studio to work on this track was such a cool experience. She’s incredibly talented, and we’re truly grateful she invited us to be part of it and help bring the song to life. The lyrics speak to the special bond we’ve shared since we first toured together back in 2003. We became friends right away, and what’s amazing is how that friendship has only grown stronger over the years. So many of our fans have been asking for this collab for a long time, and we really hope they love ‘Young and Dumb’ as much as we do. We can’t wait to hit the road again on the Greatest Hits Tour this summer and play it live every night-it’s going to be a blast!”

“Young & Dumb” comes just before the 2025 extension of her highly successful, sold-out North American Greatest Hits Tour launches and will again see Avril perform her biggest songs to-date including the RIAA 3x platinum-certified “Complicated,” the 2x platinum-certified “Sk8er Boi,” the 2x platinum-certified “Girlfriend,” the platinum-certified “Here’s To Never Growing Up,” and many more from her record-breaking catalog.

Zach Bryan Purchases Historic Lowell Church to Launch Jack Kerouac Center Honoring the Literary Icon

0

Multi-Platinum, GRAMMY-winning artist Zach Bryan has purchased the historic former Saint Jean Baptiste Church building in Lowell, Massachusetts, ensuring its transformation into the previously announced Jack Kerouac Center. The project was initially announced in November 2022, but stalled amid the COVID-19 pandemic and funding issues.

The collaboration between Bryan and the Jack Kerouac Estate marks a significant step toward honoring the legacy of one of America’s most iconic writers while fostering creativity in the heart of Kerouac’s hometown.

The former church, a beloved Lowell landmark where Kerouac served as an altar boy, and mourners gathered for his 1969 funeral mass, will be converted into a vibrant cultural hub where two creative forces meet.

Bryan’s involvement marks a turning point, bringing essential funding and renewed energy. His commitment has provided the momentum needed to turn years of planning into a tangible reality, paving the way for the center to become a cornerstone of creativity and inspiration in Lowell.

The Center will feature exhibits, live music, public readings, and community events.

“We’ve been working on this deal with Zach and his team for several months,” said Sylvia Cunha, who leads Marketing and Business Development for the Jack Kerouac Estate.

“Zach reached out in October, and right from the start, it was clear he shared our passion for honoring Jack’s legacy while also creating a dynamic, creative space. He stepped up and delivered in a big way, showing incredible generosity. Our immediate focus is to bring the building up to code so we can start using the space for music and other events while forming new partnerships to help us bring this vision to life and ensure its lasting success.”

By repurposing the 20,439 square foot building into a space that fosters creative exploration, Bryan pays tribute to Jack Kerouac’s spirit while carrying forward a legacy they both embody.

Once a place of worship, the church will become a sanctuary for creativity — an open environment where diverse artists, thinkers, and performers can experiment, push boundaries, and share their visions with the world.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Zach Bryan and his team to honor Jack Kerouac in such a meaningful way,” said Jim Sampas, the Literary Executor of the Jack Kerouac Estate. “The Jack Kerouac Center will stand as a lasting symbol of inspiration, forever linking Jack and Zach. [Bryan’s Investment] is a significant addition to the cultural fabric of Lowell and beyond, drawing visitors from all over the world.”

Local community leader and founder of Acre Action Neighborhood, Dave Ouellette, brought this project to the attention of the Jack Kerouac Estate several years ago. He has devoted countless hours to preserving Saint Jean Baptiste alongside Brian McGowan from TMI Properties.

Ouellette reflects, ”This is a game-changer for our community. Lowell has long been a place where innovation thrives, and the Jack Kerouac Center will provide a vital platform to inspire us at a pivotal moment in history, while also serving future generations. It’s exciting to know that we will have a space that honors not only Jack but the character of this city.”

Built in 1890, Saint Jean Baptiste was the center of the burgeoning French-Canadian community in Lowell well into the 20th century.

Bryan purchased the former church from McGowan and TMI Property Management and Development — who previously bought the building and property from the Archdiocese of Boston in 2006.

More details will be announced in the coming months.

Deyaz Shares Intimate Live Video for “LONGS4U” Featuring Travis Barker on Djembe

0

London-born artist and producer Deyaz has released a new live performance video for his fan-favorite track “LONGS4U,” featuring Travis Barker. Filmed in Travis’ home studio, the video captures Deyaz solo on guitar and vocals, with Travis delivering rhythmic accompaniment on the mondo djembe drum.

The performance strips the song down to its core, highlighting Deyaz’s deeply personal and emotive lyrics, complex harmonies, and unique storytelling.

Known for pushing genre boundaries, Deyaz continues to carve his own lane-blending elements of alternative, folk, and soul in a way that’s both vulnerable and impactful. With his upcoming new singles this year, Deyaz will introduce a new musical era infused with airy synths, live instrumentation, and cinematic production while still capturing his intimate vocal delivery and authentic lyrics. This marks one of many collaborations to come with Travis, with the legendary drummer playing a key role in shaping Deyaz’s upcoming musical chapter.

Karissa Ella Honors Maternal Bonds in “Mamas Do” Video, Filmed at Patsy Cline’s Historic Home

0

Country riser Karissa Ella visited Patsy Cline’s home in Goodlettsville, Tenn. and felt the warmth of the late singer’s spirit in the bones of the house. Known as a pinnacle of Country music, Cline was a true woman’s woman, loving mother and devoted wife. Karissa knew it was the perfect place to film the music video for “Mamas Do” – a song that reflects the sacred bond between mother and her children through the lens of advice on a romantic heartbreak.

“We filmed this video at Patsy Cline’s house just outside of Nashville, and it was an absolute dream. I even flew my Mama down to be in the video, because it only felt right to have her by my side! We had Patsy’s vinyl spinning the whole time, and we like to think she would’ve been tapping her foot to ‘Mamas Do,'” said Karissa Ella.

Fitz and The Tantrums Release New Album ‘Man On The Moon’ and Summer Tour with Aloe Blacc, Neal Francis & More

0

Fitz and The Tantrums have officially released their highly anticipated new album Man On The Moon.

Alongside the announcement, the quintet have also unveiled the album’s wildly infectious title track and lead single. Man On The Moon is Fitz and The Tantrums’ most daring album yet – a no-nonsense collection of soulful, pop-inflected masterpieces that both thrill and engross listeners in equal measure. It’s the sound of a band that’s confident in their signature style, yet unafraid to venture into bold new territory.

“I decided I was simply going to write for my heart and for my soul and nobody else,” explains frontman Michael “Fitz” Fitzpatrick. “At this point in our career, myself and the band feel we have complete creative license. Because, c’mon, nobody knows what the rules are anymore. So I’m not going to chase some vapor in the wind. I’m going to just do what I want.”

“We’ve never wanted to be stuck in a box. We refused to do that,” adds co-lead vocalist Noelle Scaggs. “With this project, we’re daring to be different.”

The album’s Motown-tinged lead single “Man On The Moon” jump-started the writing process, and set the compass and direction for the entire project. Fitz wrote the dreamy, escapist track about wanting to break free from the weight of everyday life. Over a Supremes-inspired groove, he croons, “Take me on a rocketship to outer space, don’t let me come down for nothing,” before the song soars into a massive, chantable chorus. The band set the stage for Man On The Moon with the surprise release of album track “Ruin The Night” in March.

Fitz and The Tantrums will celebrate the release of Man On The Moon with a 31-city summer headline tour. The Man On The Moon Tour will kick off on July 24 in San Diego, CA, visit major markets across North America, and wrap on August 31 in Austin, TX. Aloe Blacc and Neal Francis will appear as special guests on select dates. Ax and the Hatchetman, SNACKTIME, and Gable Price and Friends will provide support. The tour’s itinerary can be found below. This weekend, the band will embark on a run of headline shows across the Southeastern United States, before joining Lindsey Stirling’s Master of Tides Cruise.
