Ian Munsick Returns Home to Headline Cheyenne Frontier Days with Family, Fans, and Full-Circle Moments

0

A native son of Sheridan, Wyoming, Ian Munsick returned home Saturday night (July 18th), for his ultimate bucket list moment: headlining the “Daddy of ‘em All,” Cheyenne Frontier Days in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Country star Travis Tritt took the stage before Munsick, in a full-circle moment which Munsick reflected on in an interview with CBS News, “He was the first country star to really embrace me, so for me to be able to ask him to come and play on the biggest stage in Wyoming… that’s going to be a huge honor.”

When Munsick moved to Nashville to pursue music at 18, he carried the Western influences with him, curating a unique country sound. For a set playing the largest stage in Wyoming, this career-long pursuit of representing the West culminated in a 22-song setlist that served as an homage to the place that made his dream possible.

Munsick kickstarted the evening with his 2021 release “I See Country,” which has become a fan-favorite at line dance halls in the years since its release – and the rowdy “Barn Burner” off his sophomore album, White Buffalo.

Introducing his ode to Cheyenne Frontier Days, “Cheyenne,” Munsick reflected on his homecoming, stating, “I wrote this song about a year ago, manifesting the moment that’s happening right now.”

As the evening progressed, fans enthusiastically line danced and boot stomped along to each song, with one couple pausing during faith-based love song “More Than Me” for a proposal.

Towards the end of his set, Munsick shared the stage with another Wyoming native, Ryan Charles, for the song that popularized his Belt Buckle Shuffle dance move, “Cowboy Killer.” The curtains closed with one more ode to his homeland, “Mountain Time,” leaving fans demanding more, not quite ready to let Munsick leave the Rockies just yet.

Luckily for them, Munsick had one more special moment up his sleeve, welcoming his dad, Dave, and his brother, Sam, on stage, reunited as The Munsick Boys. Singing “Prairie Lament i” and a cover of Chris LeDoux’s “Rodeo Moon,” the trio gave the crowd a glimpse of the beginning of Munsick’s career – performing as a family once again under the Cheyenne skies, just as he did as a kid.

ABBA’s “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” Joins Spotify’s Billions Club, Fueled by Gen Z Resurgence

0

ABBA’s iconic 1979 hit “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)” has officially surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, marking the group’s second track to enter Spotify’s coveted Billions Club after “Dancing Queen” in 2023.

More than 40 years after its release, “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)” is finding new life with a new generation of Gen Z listeners, who have accounted for 50 percent of the 11 million discoveries of ABBA on Spotify in 2025. Gen Z also makes up half of ABBA’s global audience on Spotify.

Streams of ABBA have increased 150 percent on Spotify globally over the past five years, with their music featured in nearly 130 million user-generated playlists.

The song, written by the group’s Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, was released on October 12, 1979, as the sole single from their album Greatest Hits Vol. 2. It was also later included in reissues of their sixth studio album, Voulez-Vous.

The song tells the story of a lonely woman longing for a romantic connection. The narrator describes being alone at night, watching TV, and feeling depressed by the gloom outside. She yearns for “a man after midnight” to “chase the shadows away,” seeking a romantic relationship to escape her solitude. It reflects a desire for companionship and highlights the stark contrast between her lonely existence and the happy endings depicted for movie stars.

The song’s disco sound was reportedly inspired by Donna Summer’s hit “Hot Stuff,” released in 1979.

The song topped the charts in several countries across Europe and Australia, gaining significant popularity in Japan.

Koe Wetzel to Drop New Single “Surrounded” July 25, His First Release Since ‘9 Lives’

0

Koe Wetzel returns this week with the highly anticipated release of “Surrounded,” the first official preview of new music since his chart-topping 9 Lives. The long-awaited single arrives this Friday, July 25th, alongside an official visualizer.

Initially teased during a radio event in February, “Surrounded” has since become a fixture in Wetzel’s live set, building buzz through headline and festival performances across the country, including standout moments at Country Fest, Country Boom and Windy City Smokeout – where he also appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America as the celebrity guest judge for their onsite BBQ competition.

“‘Surrounded’ felt like the right way to kick off this next chapter,” shares Wetzel of the hard-driving track that delves into the feeling of being trapped by a memory you can’t outrun. “The way fans locked into it live from the jump has been wild, so we’re fired up to finally let the full thing loose this week.”

The release of “Surrounded” follows a landmark year that saw Wetzel hit five consecutive weeks at No. 1 with 9 Lives standout “High Road” featuring Jessie Murph, three new RIAA certifications at the sold-out Red Rocks finale of the Damn Near Normal World Tour, and even spawned its live album. The Damn Near Normal World Tour saw the renegade rockstar perform for over 200,000 fans globally with over 96 percent of all headlining tickets sold.

Wetzel is fresh off a pair of home-state stadium dates in Texas with Morgan Wallen and amid a high-energy run of summer festival dates amid Jim Bob World Tour legs with Hardy.

Produced by Federal Films, the feature will be in select AMC Theatres locations in the United States and presented under Cinépolis’ +Que Cine in Mexico, Central America, and South America beginning Thursday, August 21st.

Live From Auditorio Nacional, CDMX will play at more than 185 AMC locations in the United States, with all participating theatres offering at least two showtimes per day. The screening will be available in 48 Cinépolis +Que Cine cities across Mexico, including Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Cuernavaca, León, Querétaro, Veracruz, among others. Ticket price varies by market and location.

Celebrating this monumental milestone in their career, the band will unveil an accompanying live album, Live From Auditorio Nacional, CDMX, on Friday August 22nd via Republic/Lava Records. Physical vinyl and CDs are now available for pre-order, including exclusive D2C and signed editions. The sister trio shares a three-track bundle of live songs, including “Automatic Sun,” “Sharks,” and the Latin Grammy Award-nominated “Qué Más Quieres.”

Earlier this year, the group notably performed their biggest sold-out headline shows yet when they took over Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, Mexico, for three nights on February 6, 7, 11. The musicians simply soared with a rapturous set of signature staples and deep cuts in front of a capacity crowd of 30,000 total fans. Live From Auditorio Nacional, CDMX captures the band in their element and sees them firing on all cylinders as they deliver sonic (and literal) fire consumed by a rabid audience.

“We’re so excited to share a night that we’ll never forget, a moment that is etched in our band’s history,” Dany, Pau, and Ale Villarreal share. “Having a live album has always been a dream of ours and, for it to be out in a concert film, vinyl and everything in between is a huge accomplishment for us. We hope that our fans who see or hear this piece of work get to feel the same exhilaration and excitement we felt while playing this show. The live debut of our album Keep Me Fed was possible thanks to the work of a huge team, and we are so happy that their work and ours get to live in a piece of media forever.”

The group is finishing up a North American headline tour with the finale at The Fillmore in Minneapolis, MN this week. They also served as the opener for select dates on Halsey’s For My Last Trick US tour.

Their latest offering, Keep Me Fed, has amassed over 175 million streams globally, landing them No. 1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artist chart, and cemented the band as the biggest album debut for an all-female rock group in the 2020s. The Warning had an incredible year in 2024, receiving nominations at the Latin Grammys, VMA and EMAs.

0

SoulMusic Records and Second Disc Records have announced that the Dionne Warwick deluxe 12-CD box set Make It Easy on Yourself: The Scepter Recordings, 1962-1971 will be available on Friday, August 1st. This release will be the definitive celebration of the six-time Grammy Award winner and 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, one of the most successful and acclaimed vocalists.

Make It Easy on Yourself: The Scepter Recordings, 1962-1971 is the first-ever collection to comprehensively chronicle the first decade of the legendary Dionne Warwick’s recording career and her era-defining collaborations with songwriter-producers Burt Bacharach and Hal David.

The deluxe 12-CD set’s whopping 280 tracks encompass every original Scepter album and single release plus over 60 rare bonus tracks – 16 of which are previously unreleased (both in the studio and in concert) – totaling over 14 hours of timeless Warwick magic. The set includes the exclusive bonus disc Always Something There: Live & Studio Gems from The Scepter Vaults, which premieres a lost 1969 concert from Washington, D.C.

“I am so very thrilled about this wonderful collection of my recordings!” Warwick says in a statement. “It is truly something that I myself would buy.”

Make It Easy on Yourself: The Scepter Recordings, 1962-1971 also features never-before-heard alternate takes of “Don’t Say I Didn’t Tell You So,” “Who Gets the Guy,” “Walk the Way You Talk,” and “We’ve Only Just Begun,” along with the official CD debuts of Leslie Uggams and Dionne’s rare duet of Bacharach & David’s “Try to See It My Way” and the soundtrack versions of Dionne’s songs from the film adaptation of the Jacqueline Susann novel, The Love Machine.

All tracks have been newly remastered by Nick Robbins. The set is produced by Joe Marchese and Jim Pierson, with David Nathan serving as executive producer. John Sellards designed the packaging.

The lavish 68-page booklet features a 12,000-word essay by Marchese, drawing on previously unpublished interviews with Ms. Warwick and the late Burt Bacharach. The booklet also features a moving personal reflection from Nathan, and an appreciation of Dionne’s groundbreaking The Magic of Believing by gospel and soul historian Tim Dillinger. The booklet is copiously illustrated with numerous photos and album artwork. Each disc is housed within the slipcase in an individual wallet with detailed annotations.

This 225th reissue from SoulMusic Records completes the primary trio of Warwick’s incredible recording legacy, alongside the box sets, Sure Thing: The Warner Bros. Recordings, 1972-1977 and Déjà Vu: The Arista Recordings, 1979-1994. Released in cooperation with Miss Warwick herself, Make It Easy on Yourself: The Scepter Recordings, 1962-1971 is the ultimate tribute to this extraordinary artist and global icon.

5 Surprising Facts About Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Blizzard of Ozz’

When Ozzy Osbourne was fired from Black Sabbath in 1979, many thought the curtain had fallen on the Prince of Darkness. But just one year later, he roared back with Blizzard of Ozz—a thunderous, emotional, and genre-defining debut solo album. Released on September 12, 1980 in the UK, it introduced the world to Randy Rhoads, “Crazy Train,” and the beginning of a brand new madness. Here are 5 wild facts you might not know about the album that started it all:

1. Ozzy slept through a single—and missed his own guide vocal.
When Jet Records demanded a new song last minute, the band threw together “You Said It All” at soundcheck. Drummer Lee Kerslake sang the guide vocal—because Ozzy was passed out under the drum riser. The song was never properly recorded, but a live version made it to an EP.

2. “No Bone Movies” was added just to give someone a writing credit.
Drummer Lee Kerslake hadn’t joined early enough to help write most of the album. So the band threw together “No Bone Movies” as a late addition—just so he’d have a co-writing credit. The lyrics? A wild dig at the adult film industry.

3. It was meant to be a band album—until it wasn’t.
The group was originally called The Blizzard of Ozz, and they expected that name on the cover. But when the album dropped, “Ozzy Osbourne” got top billing—literally. That branding shift changed everything, and not all the bandmates were thrilled.

4. “Suicide Solution” landed Ozzy in court.
After a teen tragically took his own life, his parents sued Ozzy over the track. They claimed the song encouraged suicide. But the lyrics were about the dangers of substance abuse—and Ozzy said the line “Wine is fine but whiskey’s quicker” was inspired by Bon Scott’s death.

5. “Crazy Train” was built from a speed-up of a Steve Miller riff.
Randy Rhoads took inspiration from Steve Miller’s “Swingtown,” sped it up, and turned it into one of metal’s most iconic riffs. Whether it was Greg Leon or just Rhoads himself who helped shape it, one thing’s clear: the train left the station, and it never looked back.

After getting kicked out of Sabbath, Ozzy reinvented himself with Blizzard of Ozz, an album that launched a second act few artists ever get. It’s heavy, it’s haunted, and it’s still riding the rails of rock history. ALL. ABOARD. 🖤

Cody Johnson Announces Return of COJO Championship Event with New Competitions, Charity, and Acoustic Set

0

Platinum-selling recording artist Cody Johnson announces the return of The COJO Championship Event, taking place October 7–12, in Belton, Texas, at the Cadence Bank Center Arena. The multi-day event will once again bring together top-tier rodeo competition, music, and the community, all in the heart of Texas, where Cody and his wife Brandi’s love story began. This year’s event will also include new events, offering more opportunities for fans, families, and competitors alike.

“Team roping has always been a huge part of my life. It’s my refuge from the stage and the spotlight,” Johnson says. “When I’m on horseback with a rope in hand, I’m not the guy on tour or in the studio, I’m just a cowboy, and that’s who I’ve always been at heart.”

In a video shared on social media, Cody revealed several exciting additions to this year’s event, including a dedicated All Ladies Day featuring Breakaway Roping and Ladies Team Roping, followed by an entire day of Youth Junior Team Roping. He also announced that both the Breakaway Roping and the COJO Open are now officially recognized as American Contender Series Events. These new additions honor Cody’s commitment to honoring the sport’s legacy while continuing to grow its future. On Friday, October 10th, the Champs for Charity Cowboy Auction & Dinner will take place, once again benefiting the Texas FFA. This year’s charity auction and dinner will feature a more laid-back atmosphere with guests encouraged to don their favorite western attire. To top it all off, Cody himself is set to take the stage for a special acoustic performance.

Presented by Cody Johnson and produced by Ullman Peterson Events, the COJO Championship Event celebrates the values that define Western American lifestyle: grit, passion, and giving back. In keeping with that spirit, Cody and his wife Brandi are continuing their partnership with the Texas Future Farmers of America, an organization close to their hearts, as it was through the Texas FFA that they first met.

Inspired by the legendary George Strait, who hosted his final George Strait Team Roping Classic in 2017, Cody launched The COJO Championship Event to bring back a beloved team roping tradition and bless his cowboy friends. Cody shares, “George Strait is a hero of mine, and all I’ve heard since I started team roping is, ‘We miss The Strait.’ I wanted to respectfully pick up the torch.”

Last year’s inaugural event saw the COJO Team Ropings award an impressive $845,000 in payouts, along with an additional half a million dollars in physical prizes. These included everything from Bill Fick Ford trucks and Bloomer Trailers to custom guitars, Gist buckles, Cactus saddles, Smarty trainers, Turtlebox speakers, Resistol hat packs and hats, Cactus Gear horse blankets, Blue Otter sunglasses, Henry Big Boy .44 Magnum rifles, and Clint Orms money clips.

In addition to the competition, last year’s Champs for Charity Cowboy Auction & Dinner made a significant impact off the arena floor with two impactful donations: $100,000 for the Texas FFA and $700,000 for the Different Day Foundation. The contribution to the Texas FFA directly benefited youth agricultural education, leadership programs across the state, and helped fund scholarships, chapter resources, and leadership development initiatives. Meanwhile, the donation to the Different Day Foundation, a charity founded by Cody and his wife Brandi, supported the foundation’s initiatives to provide housing, trauma therapy, healthcare and empowering employment to survivors of sex trafficking.

Sponsors for this year’s event will include Bill Fick Ford, Bloomer Trailers, Wrangler, Justin, Resistol, Cactus Saddlery, Rather P Construction and many more, all joining Cody and the COJO team in making this year’s championship bigger and better than ever. More details on tickets, performances and programming will be announced in the coming weeks. Fans and rodeo enthusiasts are encouraged to mark their calendars and prepare for another unforgettable week in Belton.
