Sting Drops ‘The Last Ship (Expanded Edition)’ Ahead of 2026 International Production

0

Sting has released ‘The Last Ship (Expanded Edition)’, a newly expanded version of his acclaimed album available today in digital, CD, and 2-disc vinyl formats. The release arrives as anticipation builds for the upcoming international stagings of The Last Ship, the musical inspired by the shipbuilding community of Sting’s hometown of Wallsend. Sting is set to reprise his starring role of Jackie White in the new production, which will premiere next year in Amsterdam, Paris, Brisbane, and at the famed Metropolitan Opera House in New York City.

The expanded edition adds five brand-new recordings to the original 2013 deluxe album, featuring a wealth of collaborators. These newly recorded tracks include “Shipyard (feat. Joe Caffrey, Brian Johnson, Jo Lawry),” “Ship of State (feat. RenĂ©e Fleming),” and “If You Ever See Me Talking to a Sailor (feat. Frances McNamee).” As a collection, these songs underscore the enduring power of the musical’s narrative and Sting’s deep personal connection to its themes of home, community, and resilience.

Sting shared his inspiration for the project, saying: “I literally grew up in the shadow of the yard. I dreamed of escaping—and I succeeded. But later I realized I had to give something back. THE LAST SHIP is my tribute to the people and the place that shaped me.” The expanded edition, produced by Sting and Rob Mathes, also features newly written liner notes by playwright Barney Norris and includes a full track listing of twenty-four songs for the digital release.

Christian Hayes Finds His Footing With Powerful New Coming-of-Age EP ’26’

0

Rising Appalachian singer, songwriter, and guitarist Christian Hayes has released his powerful new EP, ’26’, a heartfelt collection that finds him at a personal and artistic crossroads. The six-song project, released via Capitol Records, seamlessly blends rock, folk, and pop, putting Hayes’ gift for evocative lyrics and memorable melodies on full display. The EP looks back at romantic heartbreak and personal pain just long enough to allow the musician to fully let go, as heard on singles like the breezy but bittersweet “Caroline, Oh Caroline” and the high-energy road anthem “65 on the Interstate.”

Hayes explains that ’26’ is fundamentally about closure and transformation. He shared: “26 is me closing the door on a version of myself I outgrew. This year forced me to face myself in a way I’d been avoiding. This EP is a goodbye to the person everyone else wanted me to be, to the old sound I hid behind, and to the cycles I kept letting run me.” He adds that the final page of that story is written, and “What’s coming next is the man I’m choosing to be — and the sound that finally fits.”

The titular song, “26,” serves as a pitch-perfect finale to the EP, blending the stormy guitar of the set’s more inward songs with an easy melodic might. The song encapsulates the EP’s spirit, as Hayes lands on the hopeful hook: “I’m only 26 and I still got a lot of life to live.” The track, written by Hayes with Cole Miracle and Billy Dawson, embodies hard-won optimism and a sense of peace with the tumult of youth. Hayes is currently touring North America with gavn! and continues to earn praise for his emotional intelligence and lyrical transparency.

’26’ Track Listing:

  1. “65 on the Interstate”
  2. “Flowershop”
  3. “California Sun”
  4. “Good as It Gets”
  5. “Caroline, Oh Caroline”
  6. “26”

Aerosmith, Yungblud, and Lainey Wilson Share Electric New Single “Wild Woman (Lainey Wilson Version)”

0

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Aerosmith, British multi-platinum artist Yungblud, and GRAMMY-winning American country superstar Lainey Wilson have shared the electric new single “Wild Woman (Lainey Wilson Version).” This track is an exciting new take on the song from the collaborative EP ‘One More Time’, which is out now via Capitol Records. Built on the original’s blues-infused foundation, the new version showcases Wilson’s bold vocal performance, adding a distinct country edge that perfectly complements the rock foundation of Aerosmith and Yungblud.

The collaboration was sparked after Steven Tyler and Lainey Wilson performed “Dream On” at Tyler’s Jam for Janie benefit earlier this year. As the ‘One More Time’ sessions progressed, Tyler and Yungblud invited Wilson to join the project, bringing Joe Perry back to the studio to craft a new guitar part for this specific version. Yungblud shared his enthusiasm, stating: “I’m really hyped to have Lainey Wilson jump on this record with us. I have been a fan of her for a while. Her life story is truly inspirational. With this record, we really needed a female vocalist who could carry it with the level of authenticity that Lainey embodies. We needed a wild woman and we for sure got one!”

This release follows the massive chart success of the ‘One More Time’ EP, which entered the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, extending Aerosmith’s six-decade streak of Top 10 entries and giving Yungblud his first-ever Top 10 on that chart. The EP also hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums and debuted at No. 1 in the UK—Aerosmith’s first UK chart-topper in their forty-nine-year chart history. The collaboration arrives during a banner year for Wilson, who recently hosted the 2025 CMA Awards and took home three trophies, including Entertainer of the Year.

‘One More Time’ EP Tracklist:

  1. “My Only Angel”
  2. “Problems”
  3. “Wild Woman”
  4. “A Thousand Days”
  5. “Back In The Saddle” (2025 Mix)
  6. “Wild Woman (Lainey Wilson Version)”

Country’s hottest rising star Tucker Wetmore closes out his blockbuster year with the release of the new track, “Proving Me Right,” marking his first new music since his record-breaking debut album, ‘What Not To’. Built on a mellow groove and laid-back confidence, the track finds Wetmore with a clear-eyed resolve as he watches an ex repeating patterns, underscoring the sharp, reflective writing that continues to set him apart. The song was written by Wetmore, Jessie Jo Dillon, Luke Laird, and Chris Tompkins, capturing the kind of soul-scouring balladry that has made him a fan favorite.

The release arrives as Wetmore’s momentum reaches new heights: his Country radio single “3,2,1” has officially cracked the Top 5 on the Country airplay charts, putting him on pace for his second No. 1 this year. Alex Warren Teams Up With Gigi Perez for New Version of “Eternity”

0

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Alex Warren just dropped a new version of his hit track “Eternity,” and he is sharing the spotlight with Gigi Perez, creating a seamless blend of vocals that gives the fan-favorite track deep new layers. The collaboration, released via Atlantic Records, was inspired by the duo’s joint performance of the song last summer at Lollapalooza in Chicago. This new version arrives on the heels of major success for the original song from his debut album, ‘You’ll Be Alright, Kid’, which debuted at No. 6 on Spotify’s global chart and No. 16 on the Billboard 100.

Gigi Perez spoke about the collaboration, explaining how deeply the original track resonated with her. She shared: “Eternity was a song that understood me from the first moment I heard it. Getting to bring our perspectives together through this record has been so special to me. Grief is an isolating experience and having a friend who understands you makes the difference between isolation and connection. I’ve been greatly impacted by the way Alex shares his experience with loss through his music and it encourages me to continue to share my story.” This partnership highlights the powerful, shared experience of loss that connects both artists, adding significant emotional weight to the already popular song.

This release follows Alex Warren’s highly coveted Best New Artist nomination for the 68th Annual GRAMMY Awards, a huge milestone in his rapidly expanding career. His debut album, ‘You’ll Be Alright, Kid’, has already been certified Platinum by the RIAA, having sold over one million albums, and has reached 2x Platinum status in Canada. The record features multiple Billboard Hot 100 charting songs, including the global smash “Ordinary” and “Bloodline” featuring Jelly Roll. Warren has also announced his first arena tour, Little Orphan Alex Live, kicking off in Europe in April 2026, which quickly sold out major venues like the O2 in London and Madison Square Garden in NYC.

How the Music Industry Can Open Its Doors Wider and Unlock a New Era of Creative Talent

0

In many corners of the music world, talent grows long before recognition arrives. Emerging creators often devote years to writing, producing, and performing without ever receiving the moment that signals they belong. That moment of legitimacy is powerful. It shapes confidence, professional identity, and the willingness to take creative risks. When the industry does not extend that moment, many artists remain in a threshold space where they are working at a high level but are not fully seen.

Across the sector, systemic challenges contribute to this stalled momentum. Gatekeeping often presents as selective curation, yet it quietly filters out artists who would thrive with the right opportunities. Application systems for showcases, grants, and mentorships frequently rely on formats that assume a narrow range of experiences, which keeps many creators from entering the spaces designed to support them. Inclusion is widely discussed in public messaging, although structural change within institutions often progresses slowly. The industry still carries long standing beliefs about who can succeed at scale, and these beliefs shape investment decisions long before the music is even heard. Without active support, many creators navigate internal doubts alone, unsure when they will finally be recognized as professionals who deserve to advance.

These challenges affect the entire musical landscape. When emerging artists wait for permission that never comes, the mainstream remains limited. Audiences miss the chance to experience a wider range of stories, sounds, and creative visions. The ecosystem becomes smaller, not because of a lack of talent, but because of the absence of pathways that make growth possible.

There are many ways the industry can create meaningful, lasting change. Mentorship pipelines would give emerging creators direct access to producers, bookers, publicists, and grant officers. Updated application systems that allow flexible formats would open doors for artists who communicate in different ways. Touring support that includes transportation, adaptive equipment, and accessibility planning would expand participation in one of the most important parts of the music economy. Media coverage that integrates diverse creators into everyday cultural conversations would normalize their presence in the mainstream. Training programs for gatekeepers would help remove unconscious bias from booking and curation decisions. Accessibility audits for venues and festivals would reduce barriers for both performers and audiences. Paid creative residencies would provide time, structure, and legitimacy at pivotal early stages. Broader recognition of digital performance formats would create new touring models that work for a wider range of artists. Clear and accessible communication systems would remove friction at every step of the process. And finally, award submissions and jury processes that actively welcome a broader range of creators would help reshape the understanding of who belongs in the highest levels of the industry.

A music world that embraces these changes becomes larger, more vibrant, and more reflective of the communities it serves. Growth happens when the industry decides that opportunity is not a scarce resource. Recognition becomes a doorway instead of a barrier. The path to legitimacy becomes clearer. The creative landscape becomes richer. And the future of music becomes a place with room for everyone who is ready to step forward.
