Disney Debuts First Look at Music Series ‘Electric Bloom’ Premiering July 10

0

Today, Disney Branded Television revealed a first look at the upcoming comedy series “Electric Bloom” (former working title “How We Became the Biggest Band in the World”) with the official teaser trailer and poster. The first two episodes of the music-driven original series will premiere on Disney Channel on Thursday, July 10, at 8:35 p.m. EDT/PDT, following the world premiere of the Disney Channel Original Movie “ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires,” with new episodes weekly. The show will debut on Disney+ on Sept. 17, with the first 13 episodes of the season and the remaining coming to the service in October.

“Electric Bloom” follows the three members of the now mega-famous pop group Electric Bloom as they look back and tell the story of their band and friendship, starting with the day they all met in high school. The girls go on a journey to becoming the biggest band in the world and the best friends in the universe.

The series stars Lumi Pollack (“The Fallout”) as perfectly put-together Posey, Carmen Sanchez as school rebel Jade, Ruby Marino as quirky and optimistic Tulip, and Nathaniel Buescher (“Circuit Breakers”) as class crush and band supporter Lucas.

Creators Eric Friedman, Alex Fox and Rachel Lewis serve as executive producers along with iconic songwriter Diane Warren and Bahareh Batmang. Warren also writes the majority of the songs for the series, including all songs in the pilot and the theme song. Jody Hahn directed and executive-produced the pilot.

Lamb of God Release Studio Cover of Sabbath’s “Children of the Grave” After Historic Final Show

0

Lamb of God have surprise-released an official studio recording of their cover of “Children of the Grave.” The group debuted their charging, timely cover of the iconic Black Sabbath song live last night during their appearance at BACK TO THE BEGINNING, Ozzy Osbourne and Sabbath’s heavily anticipated final show. During the historical evening, which took place at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK, Lamb of God celebrated Ozzy and Black Sabbath’s legacy alongside a who’s-who of their peers, including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, and recent tourmates Mastodon, before a final bow from Ozzy and Black Sabbath themselves.

“Lamb of God being invited to perform with Black Sabbath at their final show is one of the greatest honors of our career,” says lead guitarist Mark Morton. “As an offering to the celebration, we’ve recorded our take on their classic ‘Children of the Grave,’ a protest song with lyrics that are as relevant today as they were in 1971 when the original was released.

Black Sabbath invented heavy metal and in doing so, they changed the world. This genre that they created brings immeasurable joy to fans all over the world. We are so grateful to have the heavy metal community to call our home, and so grateful to Black Sabbath for the gift of their music that they’ve given to all of us.”

The influential hard rock titans are currently wrapping up work on their 10th studio album, which is set to follow 2022’s critically acclaimed Omens. That album notably marked the band’s sixth consecutive Top 15 debut on the Billboard 200 in addition to capturing #1 on the Top Hard Rock Albums Chart, #3 on the Top Album Sales Chart, #3 on the Top Rock Albums Chart, and #5 on the Top Vinyl Albums Chart. The body of work was also critically lauded, with Consequence how it is “incredibly tight, flashy and evidently abhorrent in its messaging – we’re all doomed, but at least Lamb of God make it sound good.” Kerrang! celebrated how the “already taut LOG energy thrusts even harder” across the ten tracks, while Spin praised how it grabbed “listeners by their prefrontal cortexes, shaking the metal faithful around to what the hell is going on as they blissfully mosh through the ruins of modern living.” Distorted Sound noted how “Omens is another incredible album to add to an already stacked back catalogue” while Classic Rock noted how it was “Heavy yet eloquent, full tilt yet considered, it’s a record that is incandescent with rage, and clever too.” Get it HERE at all DSPs.

As evident by last night’s commanding performance, Lamb of God have continued to be a force live. In support of Omens, the band performed sold-out headlining tours across the US, Canada and Europe, opened for Pantera, and brought a celebrated co-headlining tour with Mastodon across North America. With a lot more news to come, Lamb of God continue to be one the most influential and celebrated names in rock-continuing to raise the flag for metal without apology or compromise, just unrivaled integrity.

Swedish hard rock outfit S.O.R.M has officially unleashed their brand new track, ‘The Sacrifice’, which offers another powerful statement from the Lidkoping-based four-piece. The stand-alone single is out now via Noble Demon.

No Jacket Required, released in 1985, was Phil Collins’ third solo album, and mixed his trademark emotional ballads alongside strong funk and R&B influences. The album’s hit singles — “Sussudio,” “One More Night,” “Don’t Lose My Number,” and “Take Me Home” — would also become staples of his live shows in the years that followed. No Jacket Required was a resounding global hit, reaching #1 in 11 countries, including the UK, US, Australia, Canada, Germany, Spain, and Sweden. The album received three GRAMMY® Awards: Best Album, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, and Producer of the Year for Collins. It has sold over 25 million copies to date, is RIAA-certified Diamond in the US, has reached 6x platinum in the UK, and won two Brit Awards — Album of the Year and Best Male Solo Artist. It was the second-best-selling album of 1985 in the UK and spent five consecutive weeks at #1 there. “Sussudio” and “One More Night” were both US #1 singles. The No Jacket Required World Tour played 85 shows in 12 countries and concluded with two special performances at Live Aid on July 13, at Wembley Stadium in London and John F. Crematory Launch Remastered Vinyl Reissues of Early Classics

0

Iconic dark metal titans Crematory have started to reissue a series of re-releases from their impressive and pathbreaking back catalogue. Out today, and remastered by Crematory guitarist and producer Rolf Munkes: “Engulfed in Darkness”, the legendary demo from 1992 (now also available for the first time as a Mini-LP!), the band’s grandiose debut “Transmigration” (1993) and their sophomore full-length, “…Just Dreaming” (1994), that seen the band propelling straight to the top of their genre in Germany.

All of these three must-have reissues, that belong into every well-sorted goth, death and dark metal record collection, are now available on limited colored vinyl through ROAR.

Due to high demand, Crematory have furthermore announced to reissue and bring back to life: “Illusions” (1995), “Das Deutsche Album” (1996) and “Awake” (1997).

In the mid-1990s, Crematory emerged as a leading force in the German gothic metal scene. Formed in 1991, the band fused death metal roots with darkwave and gothic influences, creating a unique sound marked by growled vocals, melodic keyboards, and melancholic themes. By the time “Illusions” was released in 1995, CREMATORY had refined their identity, gaining international attention with emotionally charged songs and powerful live performances. Their work during this era helped shape the sound of European gothic metal, and alongside 90s cult acts such as Type O Negative, Tiamat, Moonspell, The Gathering and Paradise Lost, Crematory became one of the most successful representatives of their genre.

“Illusions”, “Das Deutsche Album” and “Awake” will be re-released as limited vinyl editions on August 22, 2025 via ROAR.

High Parasite Unleash “Cold” And Join Paradise Lost On UK Tour

0

UK outfit High Parasite, led by Aaron Stainthorpe of My Dying Bride, unveil their brand-new single, “Cold.” Though previously unreleased, the track has become a staple of the band’s live set and arrives alongside a music video, available below.

Bassist/Vocalist Tombs comments on the single: “‘Cold’ was lyrically inspired by Plato’s analogy of the cave, an allegory used to illustrate the relationship between reality and illusion, the journey from ignorance to knowledge.

“The idea of a person realising too late in life that there is no God, no heaven, no hell, no divine retribution, no absolution, and the panic and anger they would feel when it dawns on them that they are truly alone and can only hold themselves responsible for their actions.”

Having completed a successful UK tour with Cradle of Filth last year, and more recently a short stint with Unto Others, HIGH PARASITE play a one-off show with Cradle of Filth on July 6th at Epic Studios in Norwich; they then continue their run of European festivals, including first-ever appearances at the UK’s Bloodstock event in August and the Eindhoven Metal Meeting in December.

Three Days Grace Score 20th #1 With “Apologies,” Announce New Album

0

Rock giants Three Days Grace have added another #1 single to their monster catalog as “Apologies” reaches #1 at Mediabase Active Rock radio charts. Produced by Zakk Cervini, Dan Lancaster and Howard Benson, the song served as a follow up to the band’s anthem “Mayday”, marking the return of original vocalist Adam Gontier, the first single released from the upcoming full-length album, Alienation, due August 22 via RCA Records.
The band shares “We want to thank everyone at radio and especially all of our fans who have supported us through this unbelievable journey. Having 20 Number 1 records is a testament to them. They have stuck with us through every evolution, every riff, every scream. We don’t take that lightly. The best is still to come”

Three Days Grace balances moments of extreme emotion on an axis of pummeling hard rock anthems and pensive balladry. Along the way, the multi-platinum record-breaking Ontario, Canada band have amassed billions of streams and millions of album sales, sold out arenas on multiple continents, and reached unprecedented heights, earning a now staggering 20 total #1 entries on the Mediabase Active Rock Chart.

Three Days Grace recently entered the esteemed Spotify “Billions Club” as their rock anthem “I Hate Everything About You” crosses 1 Billion streams on the digital streaming platform. Released in 2003, the single has since become embedded in rock history.

To date, their veritable arsenal of number one includes “Home”, “Just Like You”, “Pain”, “Animal I Have Become”, “Never Too Late”, “Break”, “Good Life”, “World So Cold”, “Misery Loves My Company”, “The High Road”, “Chalk Outline”, “I am Machine, “Painkiller”, “The Mountain”, “Infra-Red”, “Right Left Wrong”, “So Called Life”, “Lifetime”, “Mayday” and now the addition of “Apologies” to the ever-impressive list.

After Three Days Grace surprised fans with the return of the band’s original singer Adam Gontier, the rock giants have announced their epic upcoming record, Alienation, available on August 22 via RCA Records. The twelve-tracks on the record all play a pivotal role in defining this significantly new, but nostalgic, chapter of the band.

Three Days Grace will return to the stage with Breaking Benjamin this Fall, with special guests Return To Dust before heading to Europe with support from Badflower.

National Music Centre Launches Oscar Peterson Centennial Exhibit

0

The National Music Centre (NMC) is set to unveil its next major exhibition, Timeless: 100 years of Oscar Peterson, commemorating the centenary of one of Canada’s greatest musical legends. Opening on July 16, 2025 – nearly 100 years since Oscar Peterson was born – the exhibition celebrates the extraordinary life, music, and legacy of the virtuosic jazz pianist, composer, and humanitarian who captivated audiences around the world.

With a career that spanned over six decades, Oscar Peterson stands as one of Canada’s most celebrated and decorated artists. As the first artist inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1978, and the recipient of countless accolades, including the prestigious Glenn Gould Prize and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Peterson’s contributions to music have earned him unparalleled recognition both nationally and internationally. His influence can be traced across generations of artists, from Herbie Hancock to Diana Krall, and many more.

This ambitious exhibition explores the artist’s remarkable journey, from his early days surrounded by music in Montreal’s Black working-class Little Burgundy neighbourhood to his rise as a jazz powerhouse, composer, and advocate for civil rights and music education. Through archival materials, interviews, instruments, awards, personal artifacts, and multimedia installations, visitors will be immersed into the world of a man affectionately known as “The Maharaja of the Keyboard” and “The Man with Four Hands.”

The launch of the exhibition coincides with global celebrations marking what would have been Oscar Peterson’s 100th birthday. In collaboration with the Peterson family and estate, the NMC exhibition is the most comprehensive tribute ever presented of the artist’s life and work.

“Oscar wasn’t just a jazz pianist, he was a mentor, a trailblazer, and a force for social change,” said Kelly Peterson, widow of the late jazz great. “This exhibition captures the heart of who he was as a musician, and as a human being. I’ve had the privilege of working with the National Music Centre for well over a decade – before the building even broke ground. It’s very exciting to now have the full breadth of Oscar’s collection being shared with the public, allowing people to see some aspects of Oscar they did not know, and might not expect. It is my hope that by celebrating and honouring the 100th anniversary of his birth in this way, people will feel they know more about Oscar, that they have a fuller understanding of the artist and the man he was.”

Highlights of the exhibition include musical instruments from Oscar Peterson’s home studio, showcasing vintage synthesizers, electronic instruments, and recording gear that illustrate his pioneering use and early adoption of electronic music technology. Visitors can also explore mesmerizing performance footage; the story behind “Hymn to Freedom,” a powerful piece that became an anthem of the Civil Rights Movement; and a kids’ zone featuring a curated playlist for children with interactive instruments designed to inspire young music lovers.

To further commemorate Oscar Peterson’s centenary this August, NMC will present a special lineup of programming in his honour. On August 15, Peterson’s birthday, NMC will host an evening performance with Andy Milne, a JUNO Award-winning Canadian jazz pianist and former student of Peterson. Tickets are on sale now at studiobell.ca/whats-on.

The celebration continues on August 16, with Milne leading a fireside chat discussing Peterson’s artistic influence, along with Calgary jazz pianist Sheldon Zandboer performing live to showcase the timeless works of Oscar Peterson. Included with regular paid admission, this programming invites visitors to explore the exhibition while experiencing Peterson’s music brought to life.

“Oscar Peterson was a pioneering Canadian artist who redefined what was possible with the piano,” said Andrew Mosker, President and CEO of the National Music Centre. “His story is admired around the world and is one of brilliance, resilience, and innovation, and we’re honoured to present his legacy in a way that educates, inspires, and moves people.”Timeless: 100 Years of Oscar Peterson is accessible with paid admission to Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, and will run from July 16, 2025 until July 2026. For more information on hours and admission, visit studiobell.ca/general-admission.

Mary Lambert Returns With Bold New Single “The Tempest”

0

Today, multi-platinum, GRAMMY-nominated queer singer/songwriter, spoken word artist, poet, and activist Mary Lambert has returned with “The Tempest” – her first major single in almost a decade. The new song is available to stream HERE, and while it has heart, listeners should be ready for some teeth.

Lambert – who is most known for her powerful vocals on Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ marriage equality call-to-action anthem “Same Love” – was inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tempest and sought to explore the parallels of power, control, and colonialism in the 21st century when penning the track. The result is a battlecry that captures feelings of a progressive movement: righteous anger, determination, and the demand for bodily autonomy for women and the LGBTQ+ community. “The Tempest” was also produced entirely by Lambert, who taught herself audio engineering and production during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I wanted to write a song that would have inspired my 18 year-old self. Although the song is about bodily autonomy, abortion rights, trans rights, and resilience, it’s also about hope and the belief that a revolution is not just possible, but imminent, and it’s up to us to rise to the occasion,” Lambert elaborated. She continued, “Ultimately, this song is about liberation. Shakespeare’s The Tempest ends with the tyrannical former duke, Prospero, learning lessons of mercy and forgiveness, but what if the people in positions of power in our world never learn those lessons? My version of The Tempest is one where we organize and demand more for our communities.”

“The Tempest” marks the inception of an exciting next chapter in Lambert’s incredible career. The incomparable and critically acclaimed artist – who has topped the Billboard charts, been honored by the Human Rights Campaign, dueted with Madonna, and starred in the Netflix animated musical and series Arlo the Alligator Boy and I Heart Arlo – is currently at work on her third full-length studio album, expected later this year. Stay tuned for more new music coming soon.

Mary Lambert is most known for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ multi-Platinum marriage equality anthem, Same Love. Writing and singing the hook led to a MTV VMA win and two GRAMMY nominations for “Song of The Year” and “Album of The Year,” and culminated in the iconic 2014 Grammys performance, which featured Lambert’s unforgettable duet with Madonna. After the viral success of her Macklemore collaboration, Lambert released an EP with the Top 20 hit “She Keeps Me Warm” and “Body Love”. Her solo pop song “Secrets,” went Gold and shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Dance charts, and was followed by a full-length album and a handful of EPs.

Lambert has received the Human Rights Campaign’s Visibility Award, The SAMHSA Special Recognition Award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for her work on destigmatizing mental illness, and was invited to speak at the UN. She has performed on Colbert, Ellen, The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Tonight Show, and the American Music Awards. She stars in the Netflix animated musical and series Arlo the Alligator Boy and I Heart Arlo, alongside Jonathan Van Ness and Jennifer Coolidge. Lambert is the film composer for the groundbreaking documentary 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture, which broke Doc NYC records for the most viewed film in the festival’s history. Lambert also facilitates workshops on body image and recovering from body shame, called “Everybody is a Babe.” She is at work on her latest album.
