Alt-Rock Trailblazers Rainbow Kitten Surprise Drop Shout-Along Summer Anthem “Dang” with Cinematic Twist

0

Genre-bending live sensations Rainbow Kitten Surprise have unveiled the perfect summer anthem, “Dang,” out today. Along with the track, the band released a stunning music video chronicling a couple’s epic adventure through Nashville in search of a secret rooftop concert. Listen to “Dang.”

On “Dang,” steady guitar riffs build towards a chorus that begs to be shouted out a car window while driving with your best friends, with frontwoman Ela Melo’s powerful vocals taking center stage. The accompanying video is inspired by 2008’s Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, which follows a group of high schoolers on their quest around New York to see their favorite band perform at a pop-up show. Rainbow Kitten Surprise give the film a queer, East Nashville twist in the video, which follows a real-life couple racing around the city to catch an RKS performance, finding moments to connect (and even perform karaoke) along the way.

On creating this song, the band shares, “When we wrote this, we envisioned tracking it with Jay Joyce and it’s pretty legendary that actually came to be. ‘Dang’ is loosely based on a performance that drew inspiration from ‘Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.’ The song is both an ode to some earlier RKS sounds and also a letter to the fans who have supported us through many iterations of the band. For your enjoyment, here’s ‘Dang.’”

“Dang” comes in the midst of Rainbow Kitten Surprise’s massive Thanks For Coming Tour, which has seen the band headline amphitheatres across North America. This touring run has featured countless sold-out shows (several of which were livestreamed to fans worldwide via Nugs) and generated major excitement from fans, due in part to the band performing a handful of never-before-heard unreleased tracks. The tour has also received widespread critical praise, with Little Village proclaiming, “There was no mistaking it — RKS wasn’t just back; they were reborn.” and South Florida Insider describing the show as “a masterful display of live music—raw, unpredictable, and utterly unforgettable.”

The Thanks For Coming Tour continues through October and includes a sold-out stop at Morrison’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater, notably marking the band’s fourth time selling out the venue. For the tour, the band launched the Rainbow Kitten Surprise Fund, created in collaboration with PLUS1, which will donate $1 from every ticket sold to promoting equality by way of LGBTQ+ rights, mental health care access, and supporting food sovereignty. Tickets are available at https://www.rksband.com/#tour – see full routing below.

The new track is the band’s first release since “Espionage,” which came out in February of this year and has already become a fan favorite on the road. These songs are the latest offerings since last year’s, LOVE HATE MUSIC BOX, which was released to widespread critical acclaim from Consequence,  PasteSPINBillboard, and more. The record was also the band’s first album in 6 years, following 2018’s How to: Friend, Love, Freefall, which has seen massive growth over the last month, with hit track “It’s Called: Freefall” even being played in the latest season of Ginny & Georgia.

Rainbow Kitten Surprise have plenty more in store…stay tuned!

Rising Pop Powerhouse Alex Sampson Gets Deep and Honest on New Single “Growing Pains”

0

Today, buzzing singer, songwriter, and vocal powerhouse Alex Sampson unveils an introspective and intimate new single entitled “Growing Pains” out today.

“‘Growing Pains’ is the most personal song I’ve written yet. It comes from the most vulnerable part of my heart. It’s about moving away from everything I’ve ever known and trying to find out who I am as an adult,” says Alex. “I’m getting deeply personal with my lyrics and writing in a way that I haven’t before in my next chapter of my music. I hope the fans love ‘Growing Pains’ and it makes them want to give their family a call and tell them they love them.”

The song layers loose acoustic guitar over a head-nodding beat. Alex’s nostalgic lyrics tell a Gen-Z coming-of-age story as he comes to a realization on the refrain, “I got growing pains, but I’m not getting taller.” Emotion overflows through airy harmonies, and he accepts, “I’m still a kid inside…In the end, it’s fine, and if it’s not, it’s not the end tonight. It instantly transfixes with a raw and relatable vibe of its own.

It lands on the heels of his single “Used To You.” The latter has clocked north of 1.5 million streams and counting, emerging as a fan favorite. Alex also recently wrapped up North American and European tour dates with Jamie Miller. This Summer, Alex is set to perform in New York City with additional dates to be announced soon. Tour routing below and tickets can be purchased HERE.

Last year, he dropped his highly anticipated sophomore EP, Hopeless Romantic. Alex also appeared on America’s Got Talent where he performed songs such as “If You Were My Girl,” “Pretty Baby,” and “Wallflower.” Watch his live performance of “If You Were My Girl” HERE, “Pretty Baby” HERE and “Wallflower” HERE

Alex Sampson has consistently affirmed himself as a dynamic vocalist and diverse creative. Growing up in a small town in Canada, music offered a window to a bigger world. Upon gaining traction with a series of covers on TikTok, he connected with audiences via his first original single Stay Here.” On its heels, Alex released “All That We Could Have Been” and “Play Pretend.” All of this led up to his debut EP, Blurry Vision, his appearance as a contestant on season 19 of America’s Got Talent, and his latest ep, Hopeless Romantic. 2025 is set to be a breakout year for the rising pop powerhouse as he gears up to release “Used To You” and even more new music.

Alt-R&B Rising Star Maria-Therese Seeks Stillness on Hypnotic New Single “Nirvana”

0

Maria-Therese delves into a search for inner peace on her latest single “Nirvana,” a textured and emotive track grounded in alternative R&B, layered with ambient, introspective tones, out now.

With an immersive, almost hypnotic soundscape, “Nirvana” captures Maria’s journey toward serenity — something that feels both easy and difficult to release. She sings, “Easy come then easy go, feels too light to be a stone,” delivering a tender vocal performance that blends vulnerability with confessional depth. The track blurs the line between singing and storytelling, drawing comparisons to artists like Raye, Frank Ocean, and Giveon. Reflective and searching, the song explores emotional escape, internal conflict, and longing, offering a quiet moment of stillness and introspection.

“Nirvana” follows Maria’s debut single, “Louisiana Crawfish Boil,” also released under Warner Music Canada. That release introduced her unique voice through a sultry alt-R&B lens, unpacking themes of self-discovery and emotional honesty. With lyrics that confront the tension between illusion and truth, the track highlighted the discomfort and growth that come from facing oneself. The debut is accompanied by an official visualizer.

Together, these releases build anticipation for Maria-Therese’s forthcoming EP, expected Summer 2025.

Hailing from Toronto, ON, Maria-Therese is emerging as a powerful new voice in soul and R&B music, bringing a fresh blend of authenticity, emotional depth and captivating storytelling. With music that draws from personal experiences, ranging from early emancipation and overcoming abuse to navigating mental health, sexuality, and her BIPOC identity, she creates a deep relationship with fans, who connect with the genuine inspiration she offers as an artist.

Since her independent debut single “Throes of Love” in 2020, and her follow-up 2021 EP For The Soul, Maria has quickly gained recognition and a loyal following. Known for her standout vocals and compelling stage presence, she has performed alongside notable artists like Def Jam signee JahKoy and Justin Nozuka. Her work has been showcased on major platforms including VEVO, CBC, Amazon Music, Spotify, and BBC.

Maria now enters a bold new chapter with her upcoming EP Monarch, set for release in Summer 2025. With soulful stylings and evocative vocals, the alt-R&B soundscapes explore themes of healing, resilience, and self-discovery, bringing a sense of closure to past pain while embracing transformation. Monarch represents rebirth, evolution, and hope, along with a farewell to her former self. With continued critical acclaim and growing fan support, Maria-Therese is poised to become a defining talent in today’s music scene.

Alt-Hip-Hop Visionary Roderick Porter Drops Surprise EP ‘IMPERFECTIONST’ and Embraces the Beauty of the Flaws

0

Multi-faceted alt hip-hop artist/ producer Roderick Porter has spent the year keeping fans engaged by dropping new singles, culminating in today’s surprise release of his EP IMPERFECTIONST. The track “THEN / NOW” is the final piece of a carefully curated collection, joining previously released singles that include “FACt Of tHE MaTTER,” “BALANCE” ft. Phabo, “Du$k,” “PHASES,” and “NOT AGAIN.” Each single has offered a glimpse into Porter’s evocative artistry, and together they form the cohesive and compelling narrative of IMPERFECTIONST.

On the concept of the project, “There’s this paralyzing anxiety that I feel like comes with being a perfectionist,” says Porter. “It’s never feeling like things are right or ready. But it’s so freeing to do the reverse of that and find empowerment in the stain on your shirt. Accepting the errors and imperfections in people and the world around you has saved me from a lot of stress and paranoia.”

With IMPERFECTIONST, Porter hopes to help listeners feel confident in their flaws. The EP hears him find beauty in the cracks, sharing his own struggles, insecurities and heartbreaks over six tracks of cloud-woven, soul-searching alt-hip-hop teeming with happy accidents (right down to the typo in the title). He spent a year writing 25 songs for the project, whittling it down to the best six. The work honing his artistry and songwriting on IMPERFECTIONST paid off, as Porter’s music has had a hot streak of viral tracks that ignite the algorithm.

On IMPERFECTIONST, Porter welcomes the human errors, opting to keep every shaky melody, voice crack or background noise rather than sterilizing the recordings. He hid easter eggs in the project’s accompanying visuals with “invisible mistakes,” from inside-out clothing to improperly cropped photos.

As Roderick Porter continues to evolve his sound and push artistic boundaries, he remains a beacon of talent and an exciting artist to watch.

Renowned guitarist Dean DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots and Trip The Witch, along with acclaimed UK vocalist Pete Shoulder, have released their latest collaboration, One More Satellite available now via Symphonic. Buy/stream album HERE.

Rakim Releases New Video And Single “Not To Be Defined” & Announces New Project ‘The Re-Up’

0

Today, hip-hop history is reborn, as Rakim, widely regarded as The God MC and one of the most influential lyricists of all time, returns with the announcement of a new project The Re‑Up.  Setting the stage is the powerful first single, “Not To Be Defined”, featuring Detroit-based, global hip-hop artist Lazarus (who is also a board certified physician, and featured in the U.S. Library of Congress for being the first artist to premiere a song from outer space—check your googles), and produced by Dem Jointz (of Aftermath Entertainment).  “Not To Be Defined” is a monumental union of legacy and lyrical mastery.

A recent recipient of the Peabody Medal (the first ever rapper to receive the prestigious award) which he graciously accepted as commencement speaker for the 2025 Peabody conservatory graduation ceremonies at Johns Hopkins University (where Ra also received an honoree degree), for an artist who has seemingly done it all, “Not To Be Defined” marks a first in Rakim’s storied career, as it’s the first time he has worked with a Detroit emcee.  Together, Rakim and Lazarus bridge generations and cultures, delivering a bar-heavy anthem that defies trends and reaffirms hip-hop’s timeless essence.

“You can’t put me in no box, I am not to be defined.”

Some artists don’t fit the mold, they break it.  “Not To Be Defined” is a statement piece.  A manifesto.  The chorus alone captures the mission behind the track: to break boundaries and as always, central to Rakim, push the culture forward. Rakim’s signature wisdom and laser-sharp cadence mesh seamlessly with Lazarus’ Detroit grit, global perspective, and surgical lyricism.  Backed by Dem Jointz’s cinematic production, Not To Be Defined stands as a bold manifesto in an era of disposable singles, proving that true hip-hop never dies.

The Re‑Up, featuring “Not To Be Defined”, and a brand new Rakim solo-single, I’m Good,” produced entirely by Big Ghost will be released on 8.29.25 across all digital streaming platforms, with physical editions—including vinyl, CDs, and cassettes—available now at www.1332Records.com.
