Written by Freddie Mercury, “Killer Queen” was Queen’s first major hit in the U.S. and a chart-topper in the U.K., blending theatrical flair with biting elegance. Its clever lyrics and stylish production made it a standout on Sheer Heart Attack and a defining track in Queen’s rise to rock royalty.

Signs Your Sewer Line Needs Professional Attention

0

By Mitch Rice

A sewer line carries waste away from homes and businesses. Any problem in this system can disrupt daily activities and cause health hazards. Many property owners delay inspections until damage becomes severe. Early action protects structures and prevents unnecessary expenses.

Foul Odours Coming from Drains

Persistent smells drifting from drains often point to a breach in the sewer line. Gases and waste seep into pipes and vents, creating unpleasant odours that linger in kitchens and bathrooms. These smells rarely vanish on their own.

A quick test involves running water in each sink and shower. If the odour intensifies, waste could be collecting in the main line. Gaps in pipes or partial blockages allow gases to travel upwards. Regular cleaning products do little to address the root cause.

Failing to act allows bacteria and mould to spread. The air quality in living spaces deteriorates. Residents may experience headaches, nausea, or allergic reactions. If foul odours persist, it’s time to contact a licensed plumber without delay.

Slow or Gurgling Drains

Drainage that slows down across multiple fixtures signals more than a simple clog. A single sink draining slowly might have a minor blockage. If toilets, showers, and sinks show the same symptoms, the issue likely sits deeper.

Gurgling noises deserve attention. These sounds occur when air trapped by obstructions bubbles back through the water. The problem can worsen as debris builds up. Wastewater moves sluggishly and can reverse direction under pressure.

A table below outlines differences between minor and severe drainage issues:

SymptomPossible CauseRecommended Action
One drain slowLocalised blockagePlunge or clean trap
Multiple drains slowMain sewer line obstructionProfessional assessment
Gurgling from drainsAir pockets from partial blockagesCamera inspection recommended
Wastewater backing upAdvanced blockage or collapsed pipeImmediate plumbing intervention

If the gurgling continues and drainage slows further, the obstruction will not clear without expert tools.

Frequent Backups and Clogs

Repeated blockages in the same drain hint at underlying structural issues. Many households treat occasional clogs as routine, but frequent backups rarely stem from surface-level problems.

Tree roots invade pipes over time, creating networks that trap waste. Old clay or concrete pipes can fracture and collapse. Grease and debris stick to damaged sections, reducing flow.

Relying on chemical drain cleaners offers temporary relief at best. These products may corrode pipes and contribute to future leaks. Professional-grade equipment, such as hydro jets and drain cameras, identifies and clears obstructions safely.

Engaging a trusted team like Graham & Sons Plumbing – Plumber Sydney specialists will help resolve these persistent problems. Their trained technicians use advanced diagnostics to pinpoint damage and recommend lasting repairs.

Unusual Lawn Changes

Sewer line leaks often reveal themselves above ground. Patches of grass that grow faster and appear greener could be absorbing wastewater. Saturated soil softens, leading to indentations or small sinkholes over time.

An unexplained soggy area in the yard usually aligns with the route of the main sewer line. The excess moisture attracts insects and rodents. These areas may emit a faint sewage smell, especially after rain.

Prompt assessment can prevent further damage to foundations and landscaping. Replacing sections of the line early costs less than addressing widespread collapse later.

Rodent or Insect Infestations

Pests exploit any opening they can find. Broken or deteriorated sewer lines create an easy entry point beneath a property. Rodents use these gaps to access walls, attics, and basements. Cockroaches and other insects thrive in damp conditions where waste collects.

Infestations linked to sewer damage can grow quickly. Traditional pest control methods prove ineffective until the plumbing defect is repaired. Sealing the pipe eliminates the access point and restores hygiene.

Rising Water Bills

Unexplained spikes in water usage deserve scrutiny. While sewer lines do not carry fresh water, related leaks in combined systems or joints can affect overall consumption. A cracked pipe allows constant seepage underground, and the system compensates by pulling in additional flow to maintain pressure.

Keep track of monthly statements. A sudden rise without a change in household habits often connects to hidden leaks. Water pooling under foundations or within walls increases humidity and damages structural materials. Early detection limits expensive repairs.

When to Call a Professional

Many homeowners attempt to clear blockages themselves. Simple tools help in minor clogs, but sewer line issues require specialised equipment. A camera inspection pinpoints cracks, root intrusion, and debris build-up accurately.

Here are clear indicators a professional inspection should be arranged:

  • Multiple drains slow or backing up
  • Bad smells spreading through the property
  • Unexplained lush patches in the lawn
  • Pest activity increasing near drains
  • Water bills rising sharply
  • Gurgling noises echoing from sinks and toilets

A licensed plumber will assess the system and recommend an approach that addresses the cause, not just the symptoms. Repairs may involve pipe relining, excavation, or targeted clearing using high-pressure jets.

Why Take Action Now?

Sewer line problems rarely resolve without action. Early signs often appear subtle, yet they point to larger failures developing underground. Acting quickly prevents health hazards, preserves property value, and saves money over time.

Any property showing these warning signals should be assessed without delay. A qualified plumber has the tools and experience to deliver reliable solutions before damage escalates.

If you suspect a hidden problem, arrange a professional inspection today. Immediate attention protects your home, health, and budget.

Recreating the Live Casino Experience Online: A Digital Evolution

0

By Mitch Rice

The casino has long been associated with glamour, excitement, and high-stakes entertainment. Traditionally, that experience was confined to physical venues in places like Las Vegas or Monte Carlo. But in the digital age, technology has made it possible to recreate much of that same thrill online. At the heart of this transformation is live casino gaming—a genre that combines cutting-edge tech with human interaction to bring the authentic casino experience directly to players’ screens.

This article explores how the live casino experience has been developed online, the technologies behind it, and why it has become one of the fastest-growing sectors in the iGaming industry.

The Concept of Live Casino Gaming

Live casino gaming is a digital format that streams real-life dealers conducting casino games in real-time. Unlike computer-generated versions of roulette or blackjack, live casino games are played with physical cards, wheels, and chips. Players interact with the game and the dealer through an online interface, placing bets and making decisions just as they would in a traditional casino.

The goal is to mimic the environment and social atmosphere of a land-based casino while offering the convenience and accessibility of online play.

How It All Works

Creating a live casino experience online involves several layers of technology and design, all working in sync to deliver a seamless and engaging user experience.

1. Professional Studio Environments

Live games are streamed from studios built to look like real casino floors. These are equipped with professional lighting, décor, and soundproofing to replicate the ambience of a traditional casino. Some live games are even broadcast directly from real casino floors in cities like London or Malta, adding to the realism.

2. High-Definition Video Streaming

Live casino online rely on multiple HD cameras that capture the dealer, the gaming table, and close-up action. A typical live blackjack table might use three or more cameras to cover different angles one for the dealer, one for the cards, and one overhead.

The streams are encoded and delivered with minimal latency, ensuring that what players see on their screen is happening in real-time.

3. Game Control Unit (GCU)

Every live table is fitted with a GCU—essentially a small device that encodes the video stream and helps manage the flow of the game. The GCU interprets data from the table (like where a ball lands on a roulette wheel) and sends it instantly to the online platform.

4. Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

OCR technology reads physical movements—such as card symbols or roulette results—and converts them into digital data. This enables real-time updating of the on-screen interface so that players know exactly what’s happening at any moment.

5. User Interface and Interactivity

Players place bets, make decisions, and communicate with the dealer using a graphical user interface (GUI). These interfaces are designed to be intuitive and responsive across desktops, tablets, and smartphones. A chat function allows users to talk to the dealer or other players, preserving the social aspect of casino gaming.

Popular Live Casino Games

The most common live games are familiar to any casino-goer:

  • Live Blackjack: One of the most interactive games, where players can use strategy to influence outcomes.
  • Live Roulette: Fast-paced and visually dramatic, especially in its European and French variants.
  • Live Baccarat: Popular among high rollers and those who enjoy a simpler.
  • Live Poker Variants: Games like Casino Hold’em or Three Card Poker offer a mix of skill and suspense.
  • Game Show-style Titles: Unique live games like Dream Catcher, Monopoly Live, and Crazy Time add new dimensions of fun and unpredictability.

Why Players Love Live Casinos

There are several reasons live casinos have resonated with players:

  • Realism: Seeing a human dealer shuffle and deal cards adds credibility and excitement.
  • Transparency: Players feel more comfortable knowing outcomes are driven by real-world physics, not just algorithms.
  • Social Connection: Chat features allow interaction, making the experience more engaging and less isolating than RNG-based games.
  • Convenience: Players can join a live table from their couch, without sacrificing the atmosphere of a real casino.

Challenges in Creating a Live Casino Experience

Replicating a physical casino online is no easy feat. The biggest hurdles include:

  • Latency and Streaming Quality: Maintaining high-definition video with minimal lag is essential but technically demanding.
  • Scalability: As demand grows, platforms must accommodate thousands of simultaneous players without compromising performance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Operators must adhere to strict licensing standards, especially regarding fairness, security, and responsible gambling.

The Future of Live Casino Gaming

Live casino technology is evolving rapidly. With the rollout of 5G, streaming quality and interactivity will improve significantly. Developers are also exploring virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) to deepen immersion. AI-driven dealers and personalized gaming environments may soon become the norm, offering tailor-made experiences for every player.

Conclusion

The online live casino experience is a testament to how far digital entertainment has come. By combining real-world elements with powerful technology, it offers the best of both worlds: the excitement of a casino floor and the convenience of remote play. As innovation continues to shape the industry, live casinos are poised to remain a defining feature of the online gambling landscape for years to come.

Downchild’s Donnie Walsh Named to the Order of Canada for Outstanding Contributions to Canadian Music and Culture

0

The Governor General of Canada has appointed Donnie “Mr. Downchild” Walsh to the Order of Canada, recognizing more than five decades of extraordinary contributions to Canadian music and culture. The honour—the nation’s highest civilian recognition—celebrates Walsh’s lifetime of dedication to the blues and his role in shaping Canada’s musical legacy.

Founded in 1967, the Order of Canada’s motto, Desiderantes meliorem patriam—“They desire a better country”—perfectly reflects the spirit Donnie Walsh has brought to Canada’s stages and recording studios. As leader and co-founder of The Legendary Downchild Blues Band, Walsh has spent the past 55 years spreading joy, soul, and that unmistakable jump-blues sound across Canada and around the world.

The Order of Canada is awarded to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the country. In Walsh’s case, his influence has been both profound and far-reaching—from helping to spark the blues scene in Canada, to inspiring Hollywood history as a foundational figure behind The Blues Brothers. Dan Aykroyd and the late John Belushi based their iconic characters on Donnie and his brother, the late Richard “Hock” Walsh, covering Downchild songs “Shotgun Blues” and “I Got Everything I Need (Almost)” on their 1978 multi-platinum album Briefcase Full of Blues.

From recording their debut album Bootleg, one of the first indie records in Canada, in the underground parking garage at Toronto’s Rochdale College, to sharing the stage with legends like B.B. King, Buddy Guy, and James Cotton, Donnie Walsh has remained a pioneering force in Canadian music. In 2019, he was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, joining icons Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, and Joni Mitchell.

The Order of Canada announcement comes on the heels of Downchild’s emotional Farewell Tour, which wrapped in 2024, after a final run of shows celebrating their milestone 55th anniversary. Known for their Juno Award-winning sound and unforgettable live performances, Downchild offered fans one last chance to dance, laugh, and groove with one of the greatest blues bands of our time.

The Canadian Emerging Artist Music Awards (CEAMA) proudly announces the official launch of the CEAMA HOUSE Artist in Residence Program, a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to artist development and industry mentorship for Canada’s most promising emerging talent. The program kicks off in Toronto with its inaugural 2025 Artist in Residence: ZOCHI, the Nigeria-born, Saskatchewan-based Afropop trailblazer, known across the country as Canada’s Queen of Afropop.

As the 2025 CEAMA HOUSE Artist in Residence, ZOCHI will receive a fully funded, one-year residency and development scholarship that includes housing, marketing and publicity support, artistic development, and full-service artist management through Black Exposed Entertainment. ZOCHI has also been officially signed to CEAMA HOUSE, a music development company — not a traditional label — built by legendary Canadian artists for the next generation of creators.

CEAMA is the first and only Canadian awards program that exclusively recognizes emerging musicians and industry professionals for their creativity, community impact, social purpose, and long-term growth, rather than commercial metrics like streams or sales. Winners are vetted by icons of Canadian music and receive their awards only after undergoing a mentorship process — ensuring each artist receives not just recognition, but real tools for success.

The CEAMA Artist in Residence program features intensive mentorship from a growing roster of legendary Canadian artists and music professionals. Current mentors include:

  • Michael Williams (Founding VJ, MuchMusic)
  • Solitair (Hip-Hop legend, producer)
  • With partnership support from That Eric Alper Publicity, Black Music Canada, and more to be announced.

CEAMA HOUSE’s Vice Presidents, Joel Joseph (producer for Nelly Furtado, Kardinal Offishall) and Sean Jones (Juno-winning R&B artist, In Essence), emphasize the mission:

“We are not a record label. We are a music development company built by legends, for future artists. CEAMA HOUSE reinvests all artist performance proceeds into a touring and accommodations fund to support upcoming artists accepted into festivals and tours — launching in 2027.”

As a part of her mentorship, ZOCHI recently joined Michael Williams at CBC Studios Toronto, where she observed a live national interview about the legacy of Sly Stone — gaining first-hand media training and insight into interview techniques from legends.

ZOCHI, who is also the 2025 CEAMA Afrobeats Award recipient and an official CEAMA Ambassador, recently performed at NXNE 2025 and joined the Saskatchewan leg of Jully Black’s “Songs & Stories Tour.” She will also open for Sean Jones’ “Revival” Tour on July 30 at Palais Royale, Toronto. Her new single, “Beside Me,” a heartfelt track inspired by her journey as a Black queer woman living her truth, will be released on June 20 during Pride Month.

Also featured as a CEAMA Ambassador and 2025 Award Recipient is Saskatchewan Hip-Hop icon Pimpton, winner of CEAMA’s Hip-Hop category. Looking ahead, CEAMA is exploring introducing public voting in 2026 to increase inclusivity and community engagement.

CEAMA HOUSE is also a presenting sponsor of Sean Jones’ “Revival: The Ultimate Summer Escape Tour”, running July 16, July 30, August 13 & 27 at Palais Royale, Toronto, alongside partners SOCAN and a roster of JUNO-winning artists and emerging guests.

Follow CEAMA and ZOCHI’s journey as they continue to shape the sound — and soul — of Canada’s next generation of music.

Toronto’s Little Jamaica Music History Walking Tour Returns for 2025 Season

The Canada Black Music Archives (CBMA) is pleased to announce that the Little Jamaica Music History Walking Tour is returning for its sophomore year in Toronto after a hugely successful and sold-out run in 2024. The interactive tour takes participants through Eglinton West’s cultural district, exploring shops, restaurants, art, and music.

This free guided tour begins at 2353 Dufferin Street and ends at Marlee Avenue. Dive into the historical landmarks of Little Jamaica, while listening to tracks by local artists. Stops featured include Jimmy Wisdom’s Barbershop, Sunshine Sounds, Monica’s Beauty Salon, Rap’s Restaurant, Reggae Lane, and more.

This year’s tour will also include stops at select food locations, allowing participants to enjoy various Caribbean dishes and neighbourhood favourites.

Now back by popular demand, the 2025 dates are July 13th & 27th, August 3rd & 17th, and September 7th & 21st.

As the first music focused walking tour in Little Jamaica, the CBMA rocked sold-out tours throughout the 2024 summer season and captured the attention of several organizations including CBC Radio, CBC TV, City TV, Global TV, AMI TV, Talk 1010 radio, 105.1FM, Jazz FM, the Toronto Star, Caribbean Camera, and The Jamaica Gleaner.

The area known as ‘Little Jamaica’ stretches along Eglinton Avenue West from Marlee Avenue to Keele Street. With the influx of immigrants between the 1960’s to 1990’s, it became home to many people from the Caribbean. They opened several businesses including beauty salons, record stores, studios, and restaurants.

The strip attracted the biggest names in the industry. Not only was it home for reggae, but housed calypso, dub, ska, and rocksteady, among other music genres. Behind these genres were community greats like Leroy Sibbles, King Culture, Nana McLean, Jay Douglas, Jackie Mittoo, and more.

Join the CBMA in this educational tour and learn more about the many culturally significant contributions this enclave has to offer. Special thanks to the York-Eglinton BIA.

This project has been funded by the City of Toronto’s Main Street Innovation Fund, as part of Government of Canada support through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario. To book your tour visit their landing page.

Kristin Nicholls Band Return with Country Anthem “One More Round”

0

– With a cold drink in one hand and a lifetime of stories in the other, the Kristin Nicholls Band are ready to raise the roof — and your spirits — with their latest country anthem “One More Round.” Out now at country radio and streaming everywhere, the track is a full-throttle, feel-good call to the dancefloor, complete with line-dance energy, soul-saving choruses, and one foot firmly in the honky-tonk.

But don’t be fooled — this isn’t just another party song. For frontman Kristin Nicholls, this track is the result of a personal comeback story that’s more Nashville than Hollywood.

“I got sober… and released a fun drinking song,” Nicholls laughs. “There’s some irony there. But this song is about joy. About celebration. About giving yourself permission to just live again.”

Kristin’s journey through addiction, divorce, and redemption plays like a country ballad in its own right. Following a complicated custody battle and a battle with addiction, Nicholls turned his life around — embracing sobriety, reconnecting faith, and dropping 70 pounds with the help of CrossFit and therapy. Now, he brings that energy to One More Round — a track that’s equal parts party and purpose.

The Kristin Nicholls Band includes Kristin Nicholls on lead vocals and guitar, Luke Cronsberry on lead guitar and vocals, Ryan Barwin on pedal steel guitar, banjo, and dobro, Allen Bilston on drums, and Scott Marsh on bass guitar and vocals. Together, they bring years of stage experience and a love for country storytelling rooted in gospel, rock and roll, and the real-life grit that defines their sound.

Produced by Jordan Honsinger (with previous work in both Nashville and Hamilton), One More Round blends modern country production with the rootsy storytelling fans love. The writing team — Nicholls, Cronsberry, and Honsinger — steered away from cliché and leaned into vivid scenes, catchy hooks, and a playful barroom spirit.

Lyrics like this say it all: “Turn the lights on, turn the night on / Flip on the amplifiers / Get your boots on, put a move on / Let’s light this floor on fire.”

The single follows three previous songs that received airplay across Canada, including SiriusXM’s Top of the Country. If you love artists like Brothers Osborne, Kip Moore, Eric Church, or the swagger of Chris Stapleton, you’ll feel right at home with KNB’s latest offering.

Kristin Nicholls Band are hitting their stride — with the stage set, the amps fired up, and the crowd already two-stepping. And with “One More Round,” they’re inviting you to join the party.

Frankie Grande releases his debut single and official music video, “Rhythm of Love” out now via Casablanca Records / Republic Records. The new single heralds the arrival of his forthcoming full-length LP out now.

“Rhythm of Love” is co-written by Frankie Grande, Alex Chapman [Kim Petras, Charli XCX, Troye Sivan], NOVDOR [Troye Sivan, Charli XCX], Neil Ormandy [James Arthur], and Molly Irvine, with production by Prince Fox, and NOVDOR. Despite its dark inspirations, the joy radiating through “Rhythm of Love” sweeps you away in, well, its rhythm, glittering with hope and optimism. Pride festivities will never be the same once this banger drops.

The official music video, directed by Austin Nunes [Troye Sivan], filmed at the iconic nightclub “The Box” in New York City, plunges viewers into a wild night led by Frankie complete with jaw-dropping choreography, stunning fashion, and nonstop energy on the dancefloor. The video embodies and evokes the spirit of the immediately irresistible chorus, “It’s your rhythm of love that’s lifting me up deep into the night.”

Last year, Republic Records President and Chief Creative Officer Wendy Goldstein heard just a handful of Frankie’s songs. Blown away, she immediately signed him on the spot. He says, “I just remember playing the songs for Wendy in the studio and being like, what is happening? I didn’t know I had it in me. I didn’t know it was possible.”

Howard Jones Returns to the Keys with “Piano Composed” in Two Unique Editions

0

Howard Jones is again returning to his roots as a classically-trained pianist with the forthcoming release of PIANO COMPOSED. Out now, the offering features 10 brand new piano-based compositions and will be available in two formats, each having different inspirations/origin stories. The limited edition 180 gram heavyweight vinyl version, PIANO COMPOSED IVORY, also includes a 36-page illustrated booklet containing musical transcriptions of five of the ten pieces as well as an illustrated inner sleeve featuring notes by Jones himself. The standard CD version, PIANO COMPOSED SPIRIO, features the 10 ten tracks reimagined and alternatively sequenced.

PIANO COMPOSED is Howard Jones’ third piano-based composition album. Encouraged by his good friend, composer and technologist, BT, the ten pieces were created during Covid lockdown on his Steinway D piano and would subsequently become PIANO COMPOSED IVORY. PIANO COMPOSED SPIRIO features the same tracks reimagined and resequenced via Jones’ new Steinway Spirio, which allowed him to add multiple octaves and create pieces that couldn’t be played without five or six hands. The result is a kind of evolution of the original IVORY pieces.

Of PIANO COMPOSED, Howard Jones commented, “The piano is the first instrument I started playing when I was seven and it’s like I’ve spent the whole of my life playing piano. During Covid I thought it was about time that I made an album of piano pieces but this time I wanted the compositions to be more considered rather than purely improvised which I had done before. I started composing with my ivory piano software and was able to do lots of editing to the pieces and experiment with arrangements. I was pleased and had the work mastered and pressed some vinyl and I thought that was gonna be it. Then at Steinway’s in London they kindly let me spend a day with a Spirio piano in their showroom. I brought my laptop and ran the IVORY compositions through the piano and was blown away with the possibilities of this modern-day player piano. So you have two versions of these compositions: PIANO COMPOSED IVORY available on vinyl and PIANO COMPOSED SPIRIO available on CD.”

Electronic music pioneer Howard Jones has been a constant presence on the international touring scene for the past four decades, playing live in a number of different configurations including intimate solo shows and dates with his full high-tech band set-up. He first burst upon the contemporary music scene in 1983, with his very English songwriting and pioneering synthesizers with “New Song”. His first two albums HUMAN’S LIB and DREAM INTO ACTION were worldwide hits. HUMAN’S LIB reached #1 in 1984 in the UK and featured the hits “New Song,” and “What Is Love?” In 1985, Jones released the follow-up, DREAM INTO ACTION, which quickly became a Top Ten Platinum album in the United States and featured the smashes: “Things Can Only Get Better,” “Life In One Day,” “No One Is To Blame,” and “Like To Get To Know You Well.”

Howard Jones has sold upwards of 10 million albums worldwide and continues to make new music and tour the world. Jones has performed on NBC’s top-rated morning and nighttime shows respectively, Today and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. His ubiquitous hits can be heard in such high-profile television series and films such as “Stranger Things,” “Breaking Bad,” “Watchmen,” “The Carrie Diaries”, “Superstore” and “Bumblebee”. Howard Jones’ most recent studio album is DIALOGUE, which was released in September, 2022. DIALOGUE is the third album in a trilogy of electronic releases from Jones with multi-media project ENGAGE coming out in 2015 and studio album TRANSFORM out in 2019. DIALOGUE garnered serious coverage in outlets such as Spin, Stereogum and more.
