Dayglow Drops Deluxe ‘Superbloom’ Album With 6 New Tracks

0

Following the release of his critically acclaimed self-titled record last fall and recent headline tours across North America, the UK, and Europe, Multi-Platinum Certified indie pop artist Dayglow returns today with a new deluxe album titled Dayglow (Superbloom), out now via Mercury Records.

Dayglow (Superbloom) includes the original 10 songs on 2024’s fan favorite Dayglow LP plus six brand new tracks-all written, performed, recorded, produced, and mixed by Sloan Struble himself. Fans have been especially clamoring for the sunny new single “Self-Esteem” for their summer soundtracks, after Struble began teasing the unreleased deluxe song online this spring.

Struble shares, “Dayglow (Superbloom) is six new songs for an infinite summer. In typical Dayglow fashion, these songs are mostly about growing up, but I feel like I’m in a new place now that I’ve never been before. These songs feel like the end of a big chapter, yet the start of an even bigger one. Hope you love the tunes.”

Featuring singles “Every Little Thing I Say I Do,” “Cocoon,” and “Mindless Creatures,” Dayglow was released in fall 2024 to widespread praise. Ones To Watch declared, “If there is one thing Dayglow does best, it is crafting the perfect DIY indie-pop song,” while Atwood Magazine stated, “‘Dayglow’ represents his artistry at its fullest and finest.” Popdust added, “What you get from Dayglow is easy listening, an introspective anthology filled with indie jams.” Not to mention, Struble’s “Change Song” was also recently featured on A Minecraft Movie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack).

In addition to producing and dropping unexpected mashups online for fans-including his viral “Taste of Medicine,” which remixed his 2021 single “Medicine” with Sabrina Carpenter’s “Taste”-Struble has been continuing his fan favorite “How I Made” series, where he breaks down the creation process for his songs.

UMG Launches Berry Gordy Scholarship at UCLA Music School

0

Universal Music Group (UMG), the world leader in music-based entertainment, today announced the establishment of the Berry Gordy Music Industry Scholarship at The Herb Alpert School of Music. In partnership with The UCLA Foundation, UMG has endowed a new scholarship, which will support high-potential students studying in the school’s Music Industry Program.

The scholarship builds on the 2024 launch of The UCLA Berry Gordy Music Industry Center at the school of music, a hub dedicated to research, teaching, and community engagement and career support around the evolving global music business. Each year, a student demonstrating exceptional promise and financial need will be named a Berry Gordy Scholar and receive funding towards tuition, housing, and other educational expenses. The recipient will also play an active role in the life and mission of the Center, helping to shape the future of the music industry from within one of the country’s top public universities.

In making the announcement, Sir Lucian Grainge, Universal Music Group Chairman & CEO said, “For more than 65 years, Berry Gordy’s name has been synonymous with artistry and the transformative power of music. Through this scholarship, UMG is honoring his enduring legacy by investing in a new generation of young people who will help carry that spirit forward—creators and changemakers, who will have an opportunity to reflect the innovation and entrepreneurial genius that Mr. Gordy helped bring to the world through Motown, Tamla and the pioneering sound of Detroit.”

Berry Gordy said, “I am thrilled that my friend Sir Lucian Grainge and Universal Music Group have committed to support this program with their endowment that will help open doors for many more students and continue to pave the way for music to be a force for good and change. The center provides vital opportunities for students at UCLA to help prepare for careers in the music industry, so that future generations of young talent will continue to innovate, inspire and bring together culture and communities through the power of music.”

The Berry Gordy Music Industry Scholarship aligns with UMG’s ongoing Sounds of the Future campaign, launched by its Task Force for Meaningful Change in 2023. Now in its third year, Sounds of the Future supports initiatives that amplify Black creativity, preserve cultural heritage, and ensure equity in the music business. The establishment of this scholarship directly supports the ‘Invest’ pillar of Sounds of the Future—advancing the commitment to schools, institutions, and community-led programs that preserve and pass down the creative legacy of Black music for generations to come.

“UMG’s partnership with The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music reflects our belief that increasing access to education and professional training is a powerful tool for transforming the music industry,” said Robert Fink, Acting Dean of The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music and Director of The Berry Gordy Music Industry Center. “This endowment ensures that the next generation of music executives, artists, and entrepreneurs will not only be inspired by Berry Gordy’s legacy of innovation but also equipped to build on it.”

Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Director of the Gordy Center, and will be eligible to receive the award in consecutive years based on demonstrated financial need and academic engagement.

In creating this lasting investment, UMG and The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music hope to honor the cultural contributions of Berry Gordy and the Motown legacy while opening doors for a new generation to thrive at the intersection of music, culture, and business.

This year, UMG has expanded Sounds of the Future to honor not just the future of Black music, but its impact on the past and present. The campaign reaffirms UMG’s dedication to celebrating the artists, teams and institutions who shape the soul of music and culture today, while also investing in those who will carry that creative legacy forward.

The Sounds of the Future 2025 program has included:

Deepened Investment in Grassroots, Safeguarding Black Music’s Future. At a time when many community-led organizations are facing growing demand for their services but shrinking resources, UMG is deepening its investment in grassroots institutions that safeguard the future of Black music. This year, UMG has extended donations to two vital nonprofits: Roots of Music in New Orleans, which empowers youth through culturally rooted music education; and Girls Make Beats in Los Angeles, which opens doors for the next generation of female producers, DJs and engineers. While teaching music, these organizations are also cultivating confidence, creativity and opportunity for youth.

Career Immersion Experience. UMG and its Interscope Records label joined together at the Chicago stop of the Grand National Tour to offer local youth a rare, behind-the-scenes look at careers in music – inviting them into the world of sound engineering, choreography, tour production, wardrobe, artist relations and more. Designed as a career immersion experience, the program provided a firsthand glimpse into how artists’ creative visions come to life through collaboration.

Immersive Art Installation with BLK MKT Vintage. Earlier this month, UMG hosted an immersive art installation at its Santa Monica headquarters, curated in partnership with BLK MKT Vintage, a Brooklyn-based archive concept shop devoted to Black ephemera and cultural storytelling. The exhibit, explored the continuum of Black music through the lens of sampling, highlighting how generations of UMG artists have borrowed, transformed, and echoed one another’s genius. Salon-hung and deeply evocative, the installation traces the throughline of Black creativity that reverberates across time, sound, and genre.

Ella Langley Unleashes Country Rock Anthem “Never Met Anyone Like You” Featuring HARDY

0

Ella Langley is back with her electrifying new single, “Never Met Anyone Like You (feat. HARDY)”. From the very first note, Ella draws listeners in with intimate vocals laid over a warm acoustic guitar. As the track unfolds, it swells into a powerful country-rock anthem that captures the wild, exhilarating rush of falling hard for someone who turns your world upside down. Co-written with superstar artist and producer HARDY (who has penned over 16 No. 1 hits), and hitmaker Jordan Schmidt (who also produced the track), the song takes Ella’s signature sound to new heights.

As Ella noted on social media, “this isn’t a love song.” HARDY adds, “This is one of my favorite songs I’ve been a part of in a really long time. I love the craft of songwriting, so anytime that we get to have a twist at the end of the song, it’s my favorite thing in the world. It was a write that wasn’t even supposed to happen, which is a beautiful thing – we were caught off guard by our own creativity. Everybody in the room crushed it that day. I can’t wait to see people’s reactions because I really do think it’s one of the coolest songs I’ve been a part of. I’m excited for it!”

“Never Met Anyone Like You (feat. HARDY)” follows Ella’s recent achievements at the 2025 ACMs Awards, where she was most-nominated and most-awarded artist of the year, taking home New Female Artist of the Year as well as Single of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Visual Media of the Year for “you look like you love me” (as artist + director). Her RIAA Gold Certified hit “weren’t for the wind” is currently #28 and climbing on the Billboard Hot 100 and has amassed over 230 million streams worldwide. The breezy single also ranks Top 5 at US Country Radio (#4) and topped SiriusXM The Highway Hot 30 Countdown for two weeks. Her performance of the song was featured on ABC’s “CMA Fest presented by SoFi” primetime special last night. Ella was also recently named Billboard’s 2025 Country Power Players Rising Star, where Lainey Wilson presented her the award at the event in Nashville earlier this month.

0

Mercury Studios, TH Entertainment and Nashville PBS announce today the upcoming DVD+Blu-ray release of Brenda Lee: “Rockin’ Around” on September 5, 2025.

A four-time Grammy nominee, Brenda Lee was the first woman inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 and honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.

Known as a child prodigy, Brenda Lee (Brenda Mae Tarpley) achieved international stardom at the young age of 13 with the 1958 Christmas Classic “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”. Although this Christmas staple wasn’t an instant hit, it finally placed #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 2023, when Brenda was 78, making her the oldest artist to hit #1 on that chart. This marked her first #1 hit since “I Want To Be Wanted” in 1960.

Brenda Lee: “Rockin’ Around” traces her extraordinary journey from youthful sensation to global icon. Showcasing her genre transcending legacy, the film explores Lee’s success in rock, pop, country and rockabilly -an unprecedented feat during her era. The documentary delves into her signature hits, including “Sweet Nothin’s”, “Break it to me Gently”, “I’m Sorry” and countless others, as well as her professional relationships and encounters with Patsy Cline, Elvis Presley and The Beatles (who opened for her in Hamburg, Germany in 1962).

Featuring rare archival footage and photographs, unforgettable performance clips, and candid interviews with Brenda Lee herself, this star-studded film also includes appearances by country music icons Keith Urban, Tanya Tucker, and Trisha Yearwood; rock legend Pat Benatar; producer Neil Giraldo; and beloved radio personality Shotgun Tom Kelly, host of SiriusXM’s 60s Gold.

Brenda Lee: “Rockin’ Around” is a heartfelt tribute to one of music’s most enduring voices and a must-watch for fans of all generations. Pre-order here

Lecrae Announces ‘Reconstruction’ Album With Lead Single “Tell No Lie” Featuring Jackie Hill Perry

0

Lecrae announces his hotly anticipated tenth studio album, Reconstruction, due this summer. Alongside the album announcement, Lecrae shares the lead single “Tell No Lie” featuring Reach Records signee Jackie Hill Perry – available to stream now on all digital platforms.

Speaking about the new single, Lecrae shares: “‘Tell No Lie’ is about cutting through the noise we live in every day: social media, AI, fake flexing, and the pressure to perform like everything’s perfect. The truth is, most of us are just giraffes on ice skates doing our best not to fall. This song is both a mirror and a megaphone – it reflects the struggle, and it calls out the truth. Men lie, women lie, but God never lies. That’s what me and Jackie Hill Perry wanted to bring to the surface.”

Flipping the iconic sample from “Amores Como el Nuestro” by Jerry Rivera (also known from Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie”), Lecrae and Jackie confront the empty posturing in both hip-hop culture and spiritual spaces, challenging the lies people tell to gain status, validation, or influence. Triumphant and dynamic, the hard-hitting track showcases Lecrae’s no-holds-barred edge, in his quintessentially straight forward voice, declaring, “Please just keep it real with me/Cross my heart/Dot my i’s/Tuck that fire/Tell no lie.”

“Tell No Lie” follows May’s collaborative mixtape, Get Well Soon, with Bay Area’s Miles Minnick. The 7-track project, which includes standout guest appearances from E-40, YeloHill, and DJ Mal-Ski to name a few, drew acclaim from NPR, Okayplayer, Essence, Vibe Magazine, HotNewHipHop, and more.

Lecrae’s new single arrives in the midst of a whirlwind year for the multi-platinum indie artist, following his surprise appearance at Rolling Loud California earlier this year. There, he joined Miles (Minnick) on stage to perform music from Get Well Soon at the world’s largest hip-hop festival – and even held an altar call after their performance.

Continuing his mission of bringing Christ to the culture, he now reunites musically with Jackie for the first time in nine years to disrupt the status quo. “Tell No Lie” sets the tone for an unstoppable and intentional run. It also heralds the arrival of Lecrae’s forthcoming album Reconstruction – his first solo project since 2022’s Church Clothes 4 LP.

.idk. and Cordae Reconnect On “Prince George”, A Soulful Tribute To Their PG County Roots

0

.idk. collaborates with fellow hometown hero Cordae on his new single “Prince George.” Sampling Bob Carson’s 1971 classic “A Lonely Place,” the pair float over the soulful backdrop with razor-sharp bars detailing their upbringing in PG County.

Speaking about the new single, .idk. shares, “Cordae and I go way back to the DMV days when his name was Entandre. It’s been crazy to see how far we’ve come. This song was an effortless collaboration – and being from where we’re from, the video being shot in Rome is a full-circle moment.”

On the track, .idk.’s play-on-words calls to mind the braggadocio of today’s hip-hop as he ruminates on the importance of never forgetting where you came from. Each verse shines a light on two individuals trying to escape the cycle of poverty and crime: “‘Prince George’ is about the hustle it takes to make it out, and the different types of people who try to do so,” .idk. says. But more importantly, the song is a clear reminder that we shouldn’t be swayed by the harsh realities of the past, especially when the places we live influence how we view the world.

The accompanying music video, directed by .idk. and Jacob Parra-Mena, heightens the message. Spliced with black-and-white footage and set against the cinematic backdrop of Rome, Italy, it delivers a cinematic contrast to the song’s themes of striving, struggle, and resilience, capturing the cultural tension between aspiration and origin.

The release follows .idk.’s Top 50 Viral Charting hit “CLOVER” (feat. Joey Valence & Brae) and arrives on the heels of Cordae’s 2024 album Crossroads. It also arrives on the heels of .idk.’s 2025 tri-city tour, “The Imaginary Run” with Sector 202, which made landfall in L.A., DC, and NYC.
