Forest Blakk Releases Vulnerable New Single “Nobody Knows” for Men’s Mental Health Month

Multi platinum singer/songwriter Forest Blakk has released new single “Nobody Knows” – available today via Atlantic Records. The intimate and candid track sees the celebrated artist open up about his own mental health journey, arriving in tandem with Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month.

“All I hope is that ‘Nobody Knows’ finds the people who need it most. I’ve been on the other side of songs like this… the kind that show up when you feel like you’re disappearing. If this track makes just one person feel less alone, even for a second, then it’s done its job,” he says.

“Nobody Knows” is the latest single from Blakk since Valentine’s Day anthem “Love You ‘Til Death” earlier this year, marking the first in a series of upcoming releases that expand on his life and backstory. Erin Lunsford Honors Appalachian Roots in New “Watch Out For Deer” Video

Award-winning singer/songwriter Erin Lunsford known for her expressive voice-compared to the likes of Chris Stapleton, Eva Cassidy, and Susan Tedeschi- has shared the music video “Watch Out For Deer.”

The homesick Appalachian love song that captures the bittersweet ache of leaving home and the quiet tenderness of Southern goodbyes. Steeped in the bluegrass and folk traditions of her Southwest Virginia roots, Lunsford blends clawhammer banjo, front-porch storytelling, and pop-savvy hooks to create a sound that is uniquely her own. The track beautifully memorializes a familiar Southern farewell-“be safe, watch out for deer” – and transforms it into a moving anthem about family, identity and the pull of home.

“This song was born on a tearful nighttime drive back to Richmond after visiting my family in Fincastle,” Lunsford shares. “That phrase-‘watch out for deer’-it’s something we say all the time in the South, but it carries so much love. It’s our way of saying ‘I love you, be careful out there.'”

Produced by Jacob Ungerleider (Grebes) and featuring fiddle from Shannon Bielski, the single is the first from Lunsford’s upcoming 2025 album, the follow-up to her acclaimed 2020 release The Damsel. The project promises a rich tapestry of Appalachian storytelling, folk traditions, and modern reflections on identity, family, and finding one’s place in the world.

Lunsford’s performances are both powerhouse and intimate. Her musical upbringing in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where she learned flat-picking guitar from her mom and clawhammer banjo from her Papa, shaped her storytelling instincts and musical authenticity.

“Watch Out For Deer” marks a new era for Lunsford, who is embracing a bold solo journey with a six-piece band, including multiple women and a fresh infusion of Appalachian instrumentation. Her music, often blending homespun traditions with catchy, thoughtful songwriting, stands out for its authenticity, heart, and powerhouse vocals.

In recent years, Lunsford has taken the stage at festivals like FloydFest, Red Wing Roots, Rooster Walk, and has shared bills with Maggie Rose, Begonia, Bruce Hornsby, Darrell Scott, Carbon Leaf, and The Infamous Stringdusters. With Erin & The Wildfire, she’s performed on NPR’s Mountain Stage and earned national praise, including features in American Songwriter, NPR Music, MusicRow, and Rolling Stone Country, who named her set one of the “10 Best Things We Saw at FloydFest 2019.”

Lunsford’s upcoming album is a love letter to her Appalachian roots, featuring stories of family, self-discovery, heartbreak, and resilience. Pat Hatt Unveils “Lyin’ to Yourself” Video Ahead of Self-Titled EP

California-based singer songwriter Pat Hatt will release his self-titled EP on July 11 and is previewing the effort by sharing a new music video for his single “Lyin’ To Yourself.”

On the song and video, Hatt shares:”I wrote ‘Lyin’ to Yourself’ about realizing you’re your own biggest obstacle. For the video, I wanted it to feel honest-true to the ways I’ve held myself back. I’ve definitely spent more hours at the bar than in the studio, and that’s slowed me down in the past. So it made sense to shoot at The Pony Club, one of my favorite higher-end dive bars in my hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

I brought in Andrew Burton and Nick Lowry-who also played on the track-to appear as bar employees and bandmates on stage. My longtime friend (and drinking buddy) David Ginolfi played a bar regular. The concept was to show that moment of real-time clarity, flipping between that and performing live-the one thing that actually means the most to me.

It was a long day, but a blast to shoot. I’m really proud of the mood we captured.”
“Lyin’ To Yourself” song debuted at Americana Highways and is on all streaming platforms for any playlist shares. The song follows the EP’s lead single “Drunk On Leaving” and its accompanying music video, which was directed and filmed by Alejandro Zapata. “Drunk on Leaving,” the first single off of Hatt’s upcoming self-titled EP, sets the tone for the new direction of his latest work. After driving-cross country to begin a new chapter of his life on the west coast, Hatt was inspired by the awe and freedom one only finds after leaving everything behind. With a full band behind him, Hatt delves into the rootsy, heartland rock sounds of Petty and Springsteen, while weaving in elements of his youth in punk and indie rock. The record was produced by Alex Newport (City and Colour, Death Cab for Cutie, Bloc Party) at Tiny Creatures Studio in Joshua Tree, CA and mastered by Carl Saff. Hatt also recruited his good friends Andrew Burton and Nick Lowry (both of Super Vehicle) on guitar and drums.

Drawing from a wide range of influences, including everything from hardcore to honky-tonk, singer-songwriter Pat Hatt crafts his own brand of Americana with songs that give listeners a sense of heartfelt humility and grit. The five-song release is chock-full of loud, twangy guitars, a driving rhythm section and honest, heartfelt confessionals. With titles like “Turn The Dial,” “I’m Gonna Ride” and “Whiskey Lens,” the EP explores themes of self- reflection, change and a newfound lust for life… and the road. The second single, “Lyin’ To Yourself,” is a poignant ballad focusing on our inherent ability to get in our own way.

Writing about such topics has helped Hatt get out of his. Hatt spent most of his early adult life playing guitar and touring in bands nationwide. After a ten-year hiatus behind the chair as a professional barber, he made his return to music with 2023’s “High is Gone” and “The Mend.” These stripped down indie-folk songs showcase his knack for intimate storytelling, coupled with an acoustic guitar and a crooning vocal.

In April, 2025 he released an alt-country single “Catch a Serpent,” which was recorded at Tiny Telephone in Oakland, CA with Maryam Qudus (La Luz, Spacemoth) and mastered by Grammy Award winning Pete Lyman (Jason Isbell, Tyler Childers). Supported by a cast of session musicians including pedal steel player Ian Taylor Sutton (Vincent Neil Emerson, Jesse Daniel), this track is a folksy narrative on the opioid epidemic plaguing the Northeast.

With a fresh sound and fervor, this upcoming record defines a new era for Hatt’s career. “Drunk On Leaving” and “Lyin’ to Yourself” will be released in May and June with the full EP out in July 2025 on streaming platforms. Plans to tour both coasts in support are to be announced.

The iconic Blue Note Jazz Club will open its Los Angeles location on August 14 and will launch its first season of programming that runs through 2025, with the grand opening headlined by five-time Grammy winner Robert Glasper. Glasper is not only the opening-night artist but also a creative ambassador whose presence will help shape the culture of Blue Note Los Angeles.

Upcoming performances and residencies include Andra Day, Killer Mike, Ben Folds, Charlie Puth, Esperanza Spalding, Branford Marsalis, GoldLink, Alex Isley, Tank and the Bangas, Ravi Coltrane, Mayer Hawthorne, Charles Lloyd, The Soul Rebels with special guest Too $hort, and hometown heroes Kamasi Washington, Terrace Martin featuring Kenyon Dixon, 1500 or Nothin’, The Free Nationals, and James Fauntleroy, among many others. Designed specifically for Los Angeles, the new venue will pair an intimate atmosphere with the hallmarks of its New York counterpart: world-class performances from celebrated icons, rising stars, and genre-defying collaborations that reflect jazz’s ongoing evolution and influence. Each artist will perform two shows nightly, at 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Designed by the acclaimed Legeard Studio, the space blends mid-century elegance with the raw energy of classic jazz.

Located at 6372 Sunset Boulevard (at Ivar Avenue) in Hollywood, the venue features two performance spaces: a main showroom with a 200-person capacity and a secondary “B-Side” room with a 100-person capacity (programming to be announced). A full-service kitchen and beverage program will be open for weekend brunch and nightly dinner. The menu, crafted by Chef Asaf Maoz of L.A.’s Carmel, showcases bold, internationally inspired flavors, while the cocktail list offers sophisticated riffs on jazz-era classics designed to complement the room’s energy.

The announcement comes amid a wave of career milestones for Bonamassa. His new studio album, Breakthrough, arrives July 18th via J&R Adventures. Described as his most genre-defying and emotionally resonant record to date, the album features the already-released singles, “Trigger Finger,” “Breakthrough,” “Still Walking With Me,” and “Shake This Ground.” Bonamassa continues to push the boundaries of modern blues with a fearless creative spirit and relentless dedication to the craft.
 
Following international dates with his supergroup Black Country Communion and his solo band, Bonamassa will return to the U.S. this summer for an amphitheater run that includes stops at The Greek Theatre (July 31), Red Rocks (August 8), and the Bourbon & Beyond Festival (September 12), before heading out on the Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea cruise to Alaska in September.

Stephen Kalinich and Friends Announce Reflective New Album ‘I Love My Life’ for July 11

Heyday Again Records (helmed by reissue maven and counterculture author Pat Thomas) presents I Love My Life – confirmed for release on Friday July 11, a postcard from one of the last-standing poets of peace and excitation. The album, which is available for preorder here or here, is credited to Stephen J. Kalinich and Friends and produced by Milo Binder, and Willie Aron (Thee Holy Brothers, The Third Mind) – marks a stylistic departure from Kalinich’s earlier works in that it eschews the format of a collection of poems with accompanying scores in favor of songs that Kalinich and Binder co-wrote that alternate with a series of spoken-word performances that Kalinich improvised online during the global pandemic.

“Stevie (Kalinich) and I decided to have weekly phone sessions that took place every Sunday just before the pandemic shut down the world,” said Milo Binder. “When we had enough songs, we decided to record them. I wanted to do something different with Stevie this time around; his filmed posts on social media were sincere and soulful, they addressed his life as well as the world in its current state; it seemed that having them transcribed for audio to follow each song was a unique and timely way to present the album to the world.”

Binder and Kalinich enlisted his longtime friend and collaborator Aron – who had accompanied Kalinich in concert many times and produced Binder’s critically acclaimed album The Unspeakable Milo Binder, also released on Heyday Again – to co-produce the album with them. “Willie is my closest friend and the person whom I have relied upon the most to fulfill whatever musical obsessions pop into my head; he was a perfect fit for this record.”

Kalinich – who first garnered acclaim for writing the lyrics for “Little Bird” and “Be Still” on The Beach Boys’ understated classic album from 1968, Friends – has been unwavering in his fervent desire for the arrival of peace on earth; he attests, “I have been writing poems about world peace well before the Sixties’ peace movement; this has been a constant theme in my life for decades.” After all, this is the same artist who titled his debut album, A World Of Peace Must Come, done in collaboration with Brian Wilson in 1969. The themes that he explores on I Love My Life – homelessness, aging, gratitude, narcissism, and other topics – are universal, hard-hitting, and passionate, delivered with a heart full of soul, yet imbued with the spirit of grace and humility that has marked all of his previous works.

I Love My Life features vocal and instrumental contributions by Randell Kirsch (Beach Boys, Jan & Dean), LuAnn Olson, Rob Bonfiglio (Wilson Phillips), and other musicians and singers. The album was recorded at Pasadena’s The Pie Studios and engineered by Jeff Peters, who has worked with the Beach Boys collectively and individually for over forty years.

Kalinich sums up his feelings about the album thusly: “The recording of this album took place during a vulnerable time in our world. But working with Milo and Willie and the other remarkable musicians was such a joyful, satisfying experience, it gave me the energy and confidence to persevere. I am immensely proud of this album, and I’m hopeful that it touches the hearts of those who listen to it.”
