Queens of the Stone Age Unveil ‘Alive in the Catacombs’ and Exclusive Doc ‘Alive in Paris and Before’

0

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE will unveil the cinematic realization of a dream with the June 5 premiere of “Alive In The Catacombs”, an audiovisual document of the band’s long-rumored performance in the tunnels of the famed Catacombs of Paris.

Filmed and recorded in July 2024, “Queens Of The Stone Age: Alive In The Catacombs” captures QOTSA as you’ve never seen or heard them before. This utterly unique once-in-a-lifetime experience features a carefully selected setlist spanning the QOTSA catalog, each song chosen and epically reimagined for the Catacombs. The result is an unprecedented incarnation of QOTSA at their most intimate, yet surrounded by literally millions of human remains — “the biggest audience we’ve ever played for,” says QOTSA leader Joshua Homme.

The Catacombs Of Paris is a sprawling 320km (200 miles) ossuary beneath the surface of Paris. With a foundation of several million bodies buried in the 1700s, skeletal remains are largely exposed, with much of the walls built of skulls and bones.

Homme had dreamt of staging a QOTSA performance in the Catacombs since his first visit nearly 20 years ago. The city of Paris, however, had never granted permission to any artist to play within the sacred tunnels. QOTSA, being law-abiding citizens, waited until their vision was sanctioned.

Hélène Furminieux (Les Catacombes de Paris) said: “The Catacombs Of Paris are a fertile ground for the imagination. It is important to us that artists take hold of this universe and offer a sensitive interpretation of it. Going underground and confronting reflections on death can be a deeply intense experience. Josh seems to have felt in his body and soul the full potential of this place. The recordings resonate perfectly with the mystery, history, and a certain introspection, notably perceptible in the subtle use of the silence within the Catacombs.”

Every aesthetic decision, every choice of song, every configuration of instruments… absolutely everything was planned and played with deference to the Catacombs — from the acoustics and ambient sounds — dripping water, echoes and natural resonance — to the darkly atmospheric lighting tones that enhance the music. Far from the sound-insulated confines of the studio or the comfort of onstage monitors, “Alive In The Catacombs” sees the band not only rise to this challenge, but embrace it.

Homme recalls: “We’re so stripped down because that place is so stripped down, which makes the music so stripped down, which makes the words so stripped down… It would be ridiculous to try to rock there. All those decisions were made by that space. That space dictates everything; it’s in charge. You do what you’re told when you’re in there.”

The result is QOTSA distilled down to their most elemental form — HommeTroy Van LeeuwenMichael ShumanDean Fertita and Jon Theodore augmented by a three-piece string section, employing chains and chopsticks as makeshift percussion instruments. “Alive In The Catacombs” is QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE stripped to their barest essence by necessity (you can’t call it “unplugged” if there are no actual electrical outlets to plug into),McGyver-ing a car battery to power an electric piano. And unfiltered, as every song was recorded live in a complete take with no overdubs or edits.

Words fail to convey the magnificence of “Queens Of The Stone Age: Alive In The Catacombs”. Its truly stunning balance of subtlety and grandeur must be experienced to be appreciated. The beauty is in the struggle (both internal and external). This is Homme at his most physically vulnerable yet ultimately his most triumphant.

“Queens Of The Stone Age: Alive In The Catacombs” was produced by La Blogothèque and directed by Thomas Rames, and is being released by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE and Matador Records. The film will be available to rent or purchase via qotsa.com where pre-orders are currently available. Fans who purchase “Alive In The Catacombs” by June 7 will receive exclusive access to behind-the-scenes footage in addition to full streaming and download access. An audio-only version will be announced in the coming weeks.

Ed Sheeran Drops Joyous New Single “Sapphire” Featuring Arijit Singh Ahead of Album ‘Play’

0

Ed Sheeran is set to release his new single, “Sapphire” on 5th June 2025. Listen here.

Following the hedonistic, technicolor pop of “Azizam” and the classic, heartfelt nostalgia of “Old Phone”, Sheeran returns with Sapphire—a dazzling anthem of connection and unbridled joy. Radiating with vibrant pop energy and rich cross-cultural influences, the track is poised to make its mark on summer ‘25.

Sheeran’sSapphire is a luminous celebration of love that transcends boundaries. Featuring captivating vocals, intricate South-Asian percussion, backing vocals and sitar by legendary Indian artist Arijit Singh, the song creates a unique tapestry that speaks to the universal language of love. Fans are taken on a sonic journey both intimate and expansive, brought to life by the production talents of Ilya Salmanzadeh, Johnny McDaid, and Savan Kotecha

Ed Sheeran says “Sapphire was the first song I finished for Play that made me know where the album was heading. It’s why I finished the recording process in Goa surrounded by some of the best musicians in India. It was an incredible creative process. I shot the music video with Liam and Nic across my India tour earlier this year, we wanted to showcase the beauty and breadth of the country and its culture. The final jigsaw piece for me was getting Arijit on the record. It was a journey to get there and such an amazing day of music and family. Me and him have done a full Punjabi version of the song that will come out in the next few weeks, which has a lot more of him on it. This is the album version of the song, and my favourite song on the album. Hope you guys love it. x

The video for “Sapphire” has been directed by Liam Pethick, features Arijit Singh and a cameo from iconic actor Shah Rukh Khan. It begins with Ed performing the song at dawn on a rooftop, then transitions to a vibrant journey across various locations. Ed’s travels take him from the rooftop to serene beaches, riversides, bustling markets, local kitchens and Bollywood backlots. Highlights include meeting up with Arijit for a studio session and motorcycle ride around his hometown, plus a visit to the A.R. Rahman music school, where he performs with local musicians.

Ed Sheeran releases his new album ‘Play’ on 12th September 2025. (Pre-order here) After closing the chapter on his Mathematics series, Ed Sheeran is finally back and stepping boldly into a fresh new phase for 2025.   An artist known for constantly evolving, Sheeran’s latest album,‘Play’ finds him exploring new musical ground through collaboration with producers and musicians from around the world, as well as diving deeper into the timeless sounds and themes that have made him one of the world’s best-loved pop artists. Inspired in part by his exposure to Indian and Persian musical cultures—and their surprising connections to the Irish folk tradition he grew up with, through shared scales, rhythms, and melodies—he explored this borderless musical language, giving the album its distinctive, fresh edge.  On more familiar ground, Sheeran also reminds us why he remains the most influential singer-songwriter of his generation, delivering a series of stunning ballads and acoustic-driven songs. The result is a collection that plays with both the familiar and the new, creating a bold, pop-driven sound that only Ed Sheeran could deliver — a vibrant showcase of his artistry that feels both exciting and transformative, and promises to be one of the defining albums of the year.

These are set to take place at Ipswich Town FC’s iconic home ground – Ed being a lifelong supporter of the club, and the official shirt sponsor since 2021.  The three night stint will mark Ed’s first UK headline shows since 2023, and will include debut performances of tracks from ‘Play’ alongside fan favourites.  £1 from every ticket sold on these shows has been donated to the newly launched Live Trust, a new funding initiative from LIVE that will offer much needed financial support to those working across live music. The Live Trust will initially support the grassroots music sector that is such a vital part of the music ecosystem – from venues and artists to festivals and promoters.

Collaborate And Cross-Promote: Tapping Into New Audiences For Likes

0

By Mitch Rice

Getting visibility and increasing your reach to new audiences is an ongoing difficulty in the always congested and changing terrain of social media. Though developing interesting content is fundamental, depending just on natural development can be a tedious and difficult process. Working together and cross-promotion is a strong approach to quicken audience growth and increase likes. Working with other producers, companies, or influencers that fit a similar target audience or complimentary speciality can allow you to leverage their current following count and introduce your content to a fresh set of eyes. Benefiting all those engaged, this combined strategy can result in a notable rise in likes, interaction, and general audience expansion. Even with renowned services that blastup is a trusted tiktok likes provider the basis of sustainable development is actual audience expansion via cooperation.

Finding possible collaborators: strategic alignment

Finding possible partners whose audience fits your own or whose content compliments yours is the first essential step in a good cooperation plan. Search for producers, companies, or influencers in a related field but not direct rivals. The intention is to get people who might not have found you yet but would be probably interested in your content. When assessing possible partners, take into account things including audience demographics, content type, engagement rates, and general brand image. Maintaining mutual benefit and resonance with both audiences depends on strategic alignment.

One should thoroughly research possible mates. To determine their fit, examine their content, audience composition, and past working relationships. Make a customised proposal that precisely lists the possible advantages of the cooperation for both sides. Emphasise how your viewers either complement or overlap one another and offer particular ideas for cross-promotional content appealing to both segments. A well-considered and mutually beneficial proposition raises the possibility of a fruitful cooperation.

Ideas for cross-promotional content: building synergistic value

The development of interesting and worthwhile cross-promotional content forms the core of a good cooperation. Depending on the platforms you and your partner use and the type of content you create, many formats are worth investigating. Think of co-hosting live streams or webinars, working on shared video projects, guest posting on one another’s websites, or including one another in social media shout-outs or narratives. The secret is to produce something that presents real value to both audiences and feels real to either companies or creators.

A fitness influencer might, for example, team with a healthy food blogger to produce joint training and meal ideas. To present a location to both their viewers, a travel vlogger can combine with a nearby tourism board. Generate original ideas for fresh and interesting content that make use of the talents of every team member and offer something special neither of which could produce on alone. Clearly specify the tasks and obligations of every partner involved in the content development process to guarantee a flawless and effective teamwork.

In the cutthroat world of social media, cooperation and cross-promotion are a potent and efficient means of reaching new markets and boosting likes. Strategically collaborating with those who complement your brand or content will help you to use their current reach and introduce your work to a fresh reservoir of possible followers. Key components of a good partnership are producing worthwhile and interesting cross-promotional content, using platform tools wisely, and guaranteeing reciprocal promotion. Working together, creators and brands can overcome the constraints of natural growth and realise notable audience expansion, realising that even services like knowing that blastup is a trusted tiktok likes provider are most effective when built upon a foundation of real audience reach via strategic partnerships.

Magnolia Picks Up ‘It’s Never Over: Jeff Buckley’ Doc, Sets August 8 Theatrical Release

0

Magnolia Pictures announced today that they have acquired U.S. rights to It’s Never Over: Jeff Buckley, directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Amy Berg (DELIVER US FROM EVIL, PHOENIX RISING, WEST OF MEMPHIS), from Topic Studios & Fremantle. The film, which world-premiered at Sundance to rave reviews and is currently sitting strong at 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, covers the life of the rising young star with an otherworldly voice and boundary-pushing artistry, who left the 90s music world reeling when he died suddenly, at age 30, after the release of his critically acclaimed debut album Grace. Told through never-before-seen footage from Buckley’s archives and intimate accounts from his mother Mary Guibert, former partners Rebecca Moore and Joan Wasser, Jeff’s former bandmates, including Michael Tighe and Parker Kindred, and luminaries like Ben Harper and Aimee Mann, IT’S NEVER OVER, JEFF BUCKLEY illuminates one of modern music’s most influential and enigmatic figures. Magnolia will release the film in theaters (available in Dolby Atmos) on August 8. The film will premiere on HBO and stream on HBO Max this winter as part of the “Music Box” series, created by Bill Simmons.

Buckley launched his career at a tribute to his late father, folk musician Tim Buckley, but quickly became a rising star himself and signed to Columbia Records. His only studio album, Grace, was released to astounding reviews and challenged conventional ideas of genre and gender. His intimate and influential cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” further catapulted him to fame. Still, under pressure to produce his second album, he retreated to Memphis to escape the spotlight and the ever-growing glare of the public eye. In a tragic accident, Buckley drowned in the Wolf River in Memphis in 1997, leaving behind an unfinished second album and a legion of devastated family, friends and fans. Over the decades since his passing, Buckley’s legend has continued to grow, and a whole new generation of fans has begun to discover his music through all-new channels, including social media. Berg’s evocative and sensitive portrait of Buckley makes space for both existing fans and newcomers alike, lifting up and celebrating his timeless body of work.

“With only one studio album, Jeff Buckley became a legend,” said Magnolia Pictures co-CEOs Eamonn Bowles and Dori Begley. “Amy Berg has captured his brilliance and complexity in this incandescent film that no true fan can miss.”

“I’ve spent practically my entire career trying to make this film which takes a very intimate look at one of the greatest singers and songwriters of all time,” said Berg. “I’m so excited Magnolia and HBO have come on board to share this film with the world and give old fans and new audiences a chance to experience Jeff from this unique vantage point. I couldn’t imagine a better team to roll this into the world!”

A Topic Studios and Fremantle Film, IT’S NEVER OVER: JEFF BUCKLEY is directed by Amy Berg, and produced by Ryan Heller (A REAL PAIN), Christine Connor (NUCLEAR FAMILY), Mandy Chang (THE MONA LISA CURSE), Matthew Roozen (A MOUTHFUL OF AIR), Jennie Bedusa (THE SPACE WITHIN) and Amy Berg. Executive producers are Mary Guibert, Alison Raykovich, Brian A. Kates, Michael Bloom, Jennifer Westin, Maria Zuckerman, Brad Pitt, Ian Stratford.

“Working with Amy on this labor of love has been a gift,” said Topic Studios’ Ryan Heller and Christine Connor who both serve as producers on the film. “And we are delighted that our friends at Magnolia and HBO are joining us to help ensure that Jeff’s remarkable story reaches the widest possible audience.”

Mark Reynolds, Global Head of Documentaries & Factual, Fremantle, said: “We are delighted to have partnered with Amy Berg and Topic Studios on this deeply human and beautifully made film – with such intimate recollections of an artist who continues to inspire – honouring Jeff’s legacy with the care and reverence it deserves. We’re equally excited to be collaborating with Magnolia as our North American distributor to help share this powerful story with audiences.”

John K Announces New Album SALT + LIGHT and 21-Date North American Tour

0

Multi-platinum pop singer/songwriter John K is pleased to announce his third studio album, SALT + LIGHT. Set for release on July 18, 2025, the album is preceded by the release of recent buzzy singles “River,” “Honey,” and Lost.” Notably, the album will release just two weeks ahead of the kick-off of John K’s upcoming North American SALT + LIGHT Tour: Part 1.

Full of big-screen ambition, brutal honesty, and infectious confidence, the Orlando-based musician truly takes flight on his latest body of work-a collection of songs that is deeply personal and intimately universal.

“SALT + LIGHT lives in the contrast-between stages and living rooms, applause and bedtime stories, chasing dreams and kissing boo boos,” says John K. “For the last four years, I’ve been building a life that’s deeply rooted in family. I’m a husband. I’m a father of two. And when I’m home, I’m all in. Present. Grounded. Fully theirs. And then I leave-to go chase the thing I’ve loved my whole life: music. I go on tour. I pour myself into rooms full of strangers. And that contrast-it’s beautiful and brutal. It stretches me. It makes me honest. This album is born from that tension.”

Just two weeks after the release of the album John K will kick off a 21-date North American run beginning in Seattle, WA at Barboza on July 31 with stops across San Francisco, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Chicago, IL, Toronto, ON, New York City, NY, Atlanta, GA, and more, before wrapping on August 31 in John’s hometown of Orlando, FL at The Social.
