From the Dirt, the harmony-soaked Americana quartet from central Maryland, will officially release their sophomore album, Colored Edge of Memory, on June 27, 2025. Recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by Jerry Brown (Doc Watson, Lucinda Williams, Watchhouse, Steep Canyon Rangers) at Chapel Hill’s Rubber Room studio, the ten-track collection melds Bluegrass, Celtic, Americana, and rock ’n’ roll influences into vivid narratives of heartache, addiction, love, loss, and loneliness.

Lead singles “Afterwards, on the Greyhound,” “Angeline,” and “Train Wreck at the Bluegrass Jam” illustrate From the Dirt’s deft interplay of mandolin, fiddle, soaring harmonies, and poetic wordplay. On the ghostly “Silver Maple Spinners,” a lost love drifts back as a specter over a tense Celtic rhythm, while the starkly honest “Quitter (E” and “Trick of the Dark (E” confront addiction’s pull. In contrast, the rollicking bluegrass romp “Train Wreck at the Bluegrass Jam” and the triumphant “Luthier” celebrate musical camaraderie, craftsmanship, and the ties that bind generations of players.

This June, the Columbia Pike Blues Festival returns for its 28th year, transforming Arlington’s vibrant Columbia Pike corridor into a weekend-long celebration of America’s greatest musical art form. Presented by the Columbia Pike Partnership in collaboration with Arlington Arts, the festival remains the largest blues gathering in the D.C. metropolitan area, drawing thousands of residents and visitors for an unforgettable day of live music, local vendors, and family-friendly fun.

This year’s lineup spotlights some of the region’s finest talent alongside rising stars who are redefining the blues. Everyday Everybody, the D.C.-based ensemble celebrated for its electrifying fusion of funk, soul, jazz, and afrobeat, will set the stage ablaze with their dynamic grooves. Sol Roots—renowned guitarist and soulful vocalist—brings the weight of worldwide tours and mentorship under blues and funk legends, offering a powerhouse performance infused with New Orleans–style funk and heartfelt rock. Piedmont blues virtuoso Rick Franklin, a founding member of the DC Blues Society, will charm the crowd with his light-footed fingerpicking and warm tenor vocals, honoring the legacy of acoustic greats from Blind Blake to John Cephas. Blues-funk harmonica master Anthony “Swamp Dog” Clark and his band will deliver a blistering mix of contemporary blues and funk edge, while Little Red and the Renegades will showcase their high-energy zydeco and New Orleans R&B, complete with accordion, steel pan, and driving rhythms that have made them local favorites for decades.

Weekend tickets for Punk In The Park Los Angeles are on sale now at www.PunkInThePark.com. Single day tickets and the daily music lineups will be available closer to the event. Fans are encouraged to buy early and save since prices will increase closer to the festival dates.

In addition to a full day of music, Punk In The Park showcases the best local, regional, and national craft beer, hard seltzer, and cider from Noon to 3:00 PM each day. Attendees can upgrade their experience with craft beer sampling as a $15 add-on purchase for those 21+. 

Food will also be available for purchase from local food trucks and vendors in the General Admission and VIP areas all days, with vegan options offered.

To call Les Paul just a guitar player is limited. He was a wizard, an inventor, a harmonica-blowing, jazz-shredding, tape-splicing musical genius from Waukesha, Wisconsin. He didn’t just make music — he made how music is made. So today, on what would’ve been his birthday, we’re cranking up the amps, slapping on some reverb, and celebrating the man who electrified music, quite literally. Here are 50 facts that’ll make you love Les Paul even more.

  1. Les Paul was born Lester William Polsfuss in Waukesha, Wisconsin, in 1915.
  2. His first stage names were Red Hot Red and Rhubarb Red.
  3. He taught himself harmonica at 8, guitar at 9, and built his first electric guitar with parts from a phonograph.
  4. He once wired a phonograph needle to his guitar and plugged it into a radio speaker — and rock and roll was never the same.
  5. Before the Log, he built a guitar using a 2-foot piece of train rail.
  6. Les Paul dropped out of high school to join a radio band.
  7. His mother’s relatives made Stutz cars and Blatz beer — now that’s a combo.

To underscore the importance of youth spaces in the U.K., Spotify has teamed up with the London-based youth mentoring organization Mentivity to release our new short film The Centre. Filmed and directed by Adeyemi Michael, The Centre showcases the transformative impact youth spaces can have on burgeoning local artists and U.K. music culture at large, which has birthed influential genres like grime and U.K. drill.

Featuring hip-hop duo Young T & Bugsey, rapper Ms Banks, drummer Femi Koleoso from the Mercury Prize-winning jazz quintet Ezra Collective, and MC and producer Novelist, The Centre chronicles the ways each artist’s youth club experiences helped inspire their creative journeys and the music they produce to this day.

While 750 youth spaces across the U.K. have closed since 2010, they still play a vital role in fostering the creative development of young people across the country. In fact, these spaces have helped shape the careers of some of today’s leading artists and musicians. Take Young T & Bugsey, who met at age 15 and spent the following years honing their craft at youth spaces in their hometown of Nottingham. To date, they’ve racked up more than 850 million streams on Spotify.

According to a recent survey commissioned by Spotify, 70% of young people in the U.K. feel that youth clubs help nurture creative talent, and 74% want to learn more about creative industries. More than three quarters (77%) believe youth spaces create a safe environment for young people.

In addition to highlighting the ways youth spaces have meaningfully impacted U.K artists, The Centre celebrates the opening of Mentivity House, a newly developed youth space in the southeast London neighborhood of Peckham.

“Mentivity House is an example of how we reclaim our block,” said Mentivity founder Sayce Holmes-Lewis. “Over a decade in the making, this is a full-circle moment for me. Growing up and working here for 25 years, I’ve seen regeneration change the area. KATSEYE Joins Toca Boca World in Playful Collaboration Celebrating Music and Self-Expression

Spin Master’s Swedish-based digital games studio Toca Boca, announced today a collaboration with KATSEYE, bringing the music group into the playful Toca Boca World digital game. Launching June 10th, KATSEYE and their global fanbase, nicknamed EYEKONS, will be welcomed into Toca Boca World alongside its own 60 million player network.

The six members of KATSEYE are: Daniela (Cuban/Venezuelan-American, from Atlanta, GA), Lara (Indian, from New York, NY), Manon (Ghanaian-Italian, from Zurich, Switzerland), Megan (Chinese-American, from Honolulu, HI), Sophia (Manila, Philippines), and Yoonchae (Seoul, South Korea). Each member’s diverse background, iconic charm, style and talent will be relatable to Toca Boca’s fans and players.

  • A Voxella Festival Stage Takeover – The KATSEYE guest characters will descend on the Voxella Festival stage, arriving one at a time, and once united, unlocking the first KATSEYE song.
  • Music Player – A custom-skinned music player will play four KATSEYE songs including the hugely popular single “Touch” which has over 100 million streams on Spotify, “Debut”, “I’m Pretty” and a soon to be released new single that will be added to the player July 2.
  • Style Pack – We’re inviting players to unlock their power with the KATSEYE Style Pack. Included are twelve outfits inspired by KATSEYE’s dynamic style both on- and offstage, each member’s distinct hairstyle and accessories featuring their unique charms.
  • Free Gifts – A free gift event will deliver KATSEYE-inspired digital gifts to fans including a fan outfit, dance rehearsal bag, tumbler, poster and each girl’s unique charms complete with magic jewelry box all delivered in branded gift-wrapping paper.
