Gloria Gaynor Shares Empowering New Anthem “When I See You” From Upcoming EP ‘Happy Tears’

0

Two-time GRAMMY winner Gloria Gaynor releases “When I See You”, a glittering empowerment anthem and the second preview of her new EP Happy Tears that’s set for release on June 6. Written by Gaynor herself alongside GRAMMY-winning songwriters Chris Stevens (Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney) and Liz Rose (Taylor Swift), “When I See You” sees Gaynor imploring listeners to embrace their inner strength and live life without insecurity or self-doubt.

The second preview of Gaynor’s forthcoming Happy Tears EP after the February release of inspirational showstopper “Fida Known”, “When I See You” epitomizes Gaynor’s mission to uplift and encourage through her music. Mid-way through, the track reaches near-gospel levels of catharsis as Gaynor chants over a mid-tempo shuffle and stirring strings: “I see the light that shines / I see the light that shines / I see the light that shines in you” before exploding into a final, jubilant chorus: “When I see you, I see powerful / I see fearless in the fire in your eyes / A heart that don’t give in, a fighter to the end / You might try, but you can’t hide what’s deep inside.” Coming from an artist who’s overcome so much adversity in her career, the track exudes confidence and wisdom – and serves as the emotional core of Gaynor’s triumphant new body of work.

The Happy Tears EP is an empowering groove-filled journey that sees Gaynor working with up-and-coming songwriters Michael Pollack (Miley Cyrus, Benson Boone, Beyoncé), Sam Tinnesz (Kygo, Fitz and the Tantrums), Matt Bronleewe (Michael W. Smith, Natalie Imbruglia), Caitlyn Smith (Miley Cyrus, Meghan Trainor), Chris Stevens(Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney) and Liz Rose (Taylor Swift). The EP is a continuation of Gaynor’s new chapter that began with 2019’s ‘Testimony’ and was followed by collaborations with MercyMe (“Brand New”) in 2021 and Kylie Minogue (“Can’t Stop Writing Songs About You”) in 2022.

The new EP continues a busy 2025 for the iconic vocalist and songwriter, as she began the year celebrating the release of a new biopic on her life and career titled Robin Roberts Presents – I Will Survive: The Gloria Gaynor Story that aired on the Lifetime Network. Starring TONY Award winner Joaquina Kalukango and produced by Robin Roberts, the film depicts Gaynor’s rise to fame from her humble beginnings to becoming one of the most iconic voices in music history. The biopic follows the 2023 release of Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survivea documentary that tells the inspirational story of Gloria’s recovery from personal and professional struggles to rebuild her life and record the GRAMMY-winning gospel album ‘Testimony’. The full-length documentary feature film – directed by Betsy Schecter – was praised by Billboard as “sublime”, while Variety noted it “proves the disco legend still has life to live”. Watch the trailer HERE.

In addition, Gaynor recently appeared on the cover of the New York Times Styles section, where she chatted with writer Steven Kurutz about her life, career, and her stunning new EP. The story – which featured a gorgeous photo shoot with noted photographer Elianel Clinton – details Gaynor’s early exposure to jazz from her musically talented mother, the little-known backstory behind her legendary hit “I Will Survive” (which was originally a B-side), and the inspiration behind her 2019 album ‘Testimony’ which won the GRAMMY for Best Roots Gospel Recording, making Gaynor the only singer in history to win GRAMMYs in both the disco and gospel categories.

Folk Artist Hannah Delynn Releases “For The Record” From Upcoming Album ‘Trust Fall’

0

Hannah Delynn, a Nashville-based vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, releases “For The Record” on May 9. The song is the first single off her forthcoming debut full-length album, Trust Fall, which is set for independent release on September 5. Originally from Florida, Hannah found her way to Music City USA in 2013 by way of New Zealand, British Columbia, and Australia, gathering stories (soon to be songs) along the way.

Finding freedom through vulnerability, Delynn crafts heartfelt songs of hope and healing. Hannah describes “For the Record” as “a prelude, of sorts, to the rest of the record with a cinematic string arrangement and the desire to communicate goodwill after a trying relationship. It comes from a place of choosing to move forward despite a lack of communication and clarity and the murky ambiguity and doubt that can easily create, even when both parties know there’s care. So, if I had one thing to say to this/that person, it’s, ‘I want the best for you’.”

Glide Magazine premiered “For the Record” and writes, “Placing Hannah’s vocals and lyrics front and center, the song is an intimate work of folk brimming with soulful beauty. Hannah is backed by subtle, swelling orchestral textures as she sings about relationships and seeking positivity. There is a powerful sense of emotion that is conveyed through the combination of the vocals and the strings, making this a work of sparse yet bold music.”

Produced by fellow songwriter Maya de Vitry, who also sings harmony and performs throughout the album, the pair brought together a fantastic cast of Nashville musicians to record. On “For the Record” special guest chamber musician Annaliese Kowert’s violin playing enhances the symphonic tone of the song, as she joins the mix of Hannah on acoustic guitar, de Vitry on synth, and Ethan Jodziewicz on arco bass. “For the Record” was co-written by Hannah and Josh Rennie-Hynes (an Australian artist now based in Nashville).

Hannah says, “Annaliese brings such easeful beauty and skill to the string arrangement written by Maya. I’m so proud of the collaborative and supportive spirit that is at the heart of this record.” The full album contains 11 original songs, which include harmonies by Alex Wilder (also on piano/Wurlitzer), Jodziewicz on arco and ukulele bass, as well as cameos by John Mailander on fiddle and electronics, Jordan Tice on guitar, and Lizzy Ross on harmony vocals.

“Trust Fall honors a powerful sea change in my life and reflects a season of deep grief, loss, betrayal, and heartbreak, as well as beauty, love, generosity, and friendship,” says Hannah. “I have been learning how to more deeply trust myself, others, and the world around me—life itself, really. Essentially, I have been learning to ask for help and to summon both courage and surrender. These songs are soul-friends, catharsis, comforters, and companions.”

Maya says, “Witnessing Hannah through the process of gathering these songs and then totally embodying these songs was amazing. I think that making this record was truly transformative for her. Being in the presence of her incredible vulnerability was transformative for me, too, and I think for everyone who stepped into her circle to be a part of the process. She leaned into so many nuanced places in her voice—strength, anger, regret, defiance, delight, grief—and I think she’s going to be able to help a lot of people unlock some of these very tough doors in themselves.”

Hannah and friends started recording Trust Fall at a charming bluff-view cabin, “In The Pines,” nestled in the heart of the forest of Monteagle, TN. They went on to record further and bring in more guest musicians to finish the album in Jodziewicz’s home studio, The Secret Woods. Additional engineering was provided by Wilder at Phantom Studio in Gallatin, TN. Trust Fall was mixed by Jason Richmond at The River House in Hillsborough, NC, and mastered by John McLaggen at Parachute Mastering in New Brunswick, Canada.

Hannah has previously released three EPs—Making Friends (2023) with musicians and producers Will Honaker and Ross McReynolds, Naked Room Demos (2021) with Breck Alan engineering, and ROAM (2016) with Scott Schmadeke (aka Harpooner) producing and playing, Grant Gustafson, Dom Billett, and Dietrich Jon.

Studio collaborations include harmony vocals on Wila Frank’s new single “All That I Can Be” (Out April 2025) as well as Wila’s Agua Verde EP (‘Truly Broken,’ ‘Light of the Moon’ 2024), Maya de Vitry’s Infinite EP (2023), Ivan Theva’s Waiting Here For You EP (“Before You’re Too Far Gone” 2024), and Lydia Luce’s EP Garden Songs (2022). Other song collaborations include Austin Fray’s “Love Like an Ocean” (2024), as a “Sound Freedom Expressionist” in John Mailander’s “Let The World In” (2025), a song from Ella Korth’s forthcoming album, produced by John Mailander, called, “Friendship and Longing.”

Hannah wholeheartedly values community and says, “We are like honeybees pollinating a field of wildflowers, bridging myriad musical circles filled with immensely creative folks. It is my wish that we continue bringing the spirit of beauty and collaboration into our communities, whatever art or work we’re engaged in.”

She says of Trust Fall, “This title has been like a theme activated in almost every area of my life: career, love, family, friendship… all of it. Like I dared the universe! Be careful what you wish for; you just might get the opportunity to step into it.”

Hannah is currently running a Kickstarter to help with the release of the album.

Joanne Shaw Taylor Releases Radiant New Single “Summer Love” Ahead Of ‘Black & Gold’ Album

0

British blues-rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Joanne Shaw Taylor offers a dose of feel-good nostalgia with the release of her new single “Summer Love.” Released today via Joe Bonamassa’s Journeyman Records, the track finds Joanne in a more carefree, radio-ready mode—without letting go of the heart and honesty that have defined her career.

“I specifically had it in my mind that I wanted to write a summer pop single for this album,” Joanne shares. “It’s just something I’ve always loved—driving around Michigan, now Tennessee in summer and having that one song you love to hear on the radio that years later triggers happy memories. I hope this could be that song for someone out there.”

With crisp handclaps, crunchy riffs, and a laid-back groove that begs to be played with the windows down, “Summer Love” tells the story of a fleeting romance that burned bright and ended sweet. “What’s to say, let’s call it what it is / It’ll almost be easy, getting over this,” Joanne sings, striking the perfect balance between wistful and free. “Had love for a season, both had our reasons / It’s only for forever—forever till September.”

“Summer Love” is the latest in a run of singles leading into Black & Gold, Joanne’s highly anticipated new album out June 6th. It follows the moody and emotionally raw “Look What I’ve Become,” the roaring rocker “Hell Of A Good Time,” and the introspective gems “Grayer Shade of Blue” and “I Gotta Stop Letting You Let Me Down.” Each release has shown a different side of Joanne’s artistry, reflecting a record that’s as dynamic as it is deeply personal.

Produced by Kevin Shirley (Black Crowes, Journey, Aerosmith), Black & Gold sees Joanne stretching beyond the boundaries of traditional blues-rock, embracing cinematic textures, soulful pop, and modern guitar grit. From the shimmering cover of Sam Sparro’s “Black & Gold” to the stirring ballad “Who’s Gonna Love Me Now,” the album showcases Joanne’s evolution as a writer, player, and vocalist.

Joanne recently wrapped a string of U.S. Spring Tour dates and is gearing up for a summer packed with major festival and headline performances across North America and Europe and in the midst of announcing a US tour this fall. Known for her fiery musicianship and magnetic stage presence, she continues to captivate live audiences with a setlist that spans fan favorites and new material from Black & Gold. Leftover Salmon Drop New Album ‘Let’s Party About It,’ Announce Red Rocks 35th Anniversary Bash

0

Let’s Party About itLeftover Salmon’s new album, out today via Compass Records, reaffirms their status as pioneers of blended bluegrass and showcases their unmatched musical chemistry. For the first time ever, the band wrote the album together in a single session as a group.  Longtime friend of the band and storied songwriter Aaron Raitiere (Lady Gaga, Lukas Nelson, Ella Langley, Lainey Wilson, Anderson East, The Lone Bellow, Trace Adkins, and more) also joined the band for the writing session. The resulting album captures the energy and camaraderie that have defined Leftover Salmon’s three-and-a-half-decade-long career.

The band captured an unmatched level of talent and energy, which shines through on every track.

The band also shared a new bluegrass song, “Twisted Pine” ft. Del McCoury.  “‘Twisted Pine’ is my way of writing a Bluegrass song that sounds like an old traditional one,” explains Drew Emmitt (mandolin, vocals).  “To me, it’s a metaphor for the changing seasons and life in general. ”

To help commemorate their 35th anniversary, Leftover Salmon will take their celebration to one of the most iconic venues in the country: Red Rocks Amphitheatre on May 26, 2025. Shelby Means Releases “Suitcase Blues” Featuring Billy Strings Ahead Of Solo Debut Album

0

“I had driven out of Nashville hundreds of times as a touring musician, but this time I was packed up and moving to a different city,” says songwriter, singer, and bassist Shelby Means, who’s spent the majority of her career careening down highways on tour with world-class string bands like Della Mae and the Grammy-winning Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway. The drive she’s remembering here is chronicled in “Suitcase Blues,” the latest single from Means’ debut solo album, Shelby Means. Joined by Billy Strings on harmony vocals and an all-time all-star backing band of Bryan Sutton, Michael Cleveland, Ron Block, and Sam Bush, Means puts a homesick twist on the time-honored road song.

“Heading east with tears in my eyes I sang a little voice memo to my phone,” Means remembers the song’s origins. Written with her husband and fellow musician, Joel Timmons, and producer Maya de Vitry, “Suitcase Blues” feels like a memoir of Means’ time in Nashville and genuine heartache not knowing when she’d return. “Eleven years of paying dues / Glued rhinestones on my cowboy boots / Kickin’ grass with some of Nashville’s best / I got a road gig with an all girl string band / Dragging my bass through foreign lands,” she sings in the song’s second verse. “Hardly home, heartsick, and depressed.”

The traveling life I have chosen is a lot of ‘hardly home, heartsick, and depressed,’” she says. “I think the ‘suitcase blues’ are relatable for musicians, dogs, and travelers alike!”

A moody chord progression adds trepidation to the arrangement, highlighted by a split banjo and fiddle break, guitar flourishes, and a brief mandolin break. “Bryan, Michael, Ron, and Sam brought incredible life and depth to the recording,” says Means. “Already a very strong collaboration with the band, I was honored that Billy Strings agreed to sing harmony. His voice and energy mixing with mine and the sentiment of the song paint a vivid picture of chasing down a dream on the open road.”

Marcus King Drops “Honky Tonk Hell” And Announces Return Of Family Reunion Festival

0

Today, the Marcus King Band unveils a first taste of new music with the track “Honky Tonk Hell” out now via American Records/Republic Records.

“‘Honky Tonk Hell’ is an anthem for anyone out there like myself who have struggled with the permanence of sobriety – those who fear the thought they will never again howl at the moon,” King says, “This song for me serves as a reminder to take it all one day at a time.”

The beloved Marcus King Band Family Reunion music festival will return for its ninth installment this summer, taking place in Charleston, SC for the first time ever. Over the course of two days—August 23 and 24—the festival will see performances by the Marcus King Band, Jamey Johnson, Stephen Wilson Jr., Molly Tuttle and more. Tickets and more information are HERE.

This year finds King hitting the road with Chris Stapleton, Cody Johnson and Eric Church. Complete list of dates below. He will also be performing at CMA Fest in Nashville on June 6.

Greenville, South Carolina-born, Nashville-based Marcus King started performing alongside his blues guitarist father when he was just eight years old. He made his solo debut with El Dorado (2020), produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. The album was met with widespread acclaim, with the Associated Press calling it “a definite high point of 2020.” It went on to earn King his landmark Grammy nomination for Best Americana Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.

He followed up the success of El Dorado with Young Blood (2022), also produced by Auerbach. His sophomore album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Blues Albums Chart, describing it as a “staggeringly confident work.” Last year King returned with his third album, Mood Swings, produced by Rick Rubin, of which Rolling Stone describes, “he…goes for something much more daring, vulnerable, and openhearted.”

Silverstein Announces New Album ‘Pink Moon,’ Drops Explosive Video For “Negative Space”

0

Following the release of Antibloom, revered rock group Silverstein returns with Pink Moon: the second chapter in their ambitious 16-song double album, conceived and recorded during a transformative stretch in the high desert of Joshua Tree. The album, set to be released on September 12th via UNFD.

Along with the announcement comes lead single and music video “Negative Space”, offering fans their first glimpse into Pink Moon. Following the critically acclaimed Antibloom, this new track pushes everything further: the chaos, the emotion, the dynamic contrast. With its relentless pace, shifting moods, and massive hook, it captures the disorienting feeling of spiraling out, only to land in a crushing breakdown. The video, a surreal and unhinged sequel to the fan-favorite “Don’t Let Me Get Too Low”, was shot guerrilla-style across Las Vegas and delivers on every level. This is Silverstein at their most explosive and cinematic yet.

“I think the coolest thing about ‘Negative Space’ is how off-balance it makes me feel. It’s almost like it’s slightly too fast so it’s always trying to catch up to itself. That, combined with the fact that it’s always switching vibes and using contrasting tones makes for a really interesting 3 minutes,” shares guitarist Paul Marc Rousseau.

Adds front man Shane Told: “This song really has it all. Tons of energy, raw power, a big hook, and a massively heavy breakdown. I also love the lyrics and the photography imagery. On top of it, the video was super fun to make and I think might be our best video as well. So needless to say, I am SUPER excited for people to hear this one. The video is the companion piece and sequel to “Don’t Let Me Get Too Low”. The songs were written together over 2 days with our friend Jon Lundin (Point North) and it completes the story of myself playing a madman burying himself in the Las Vegas desert.”

Born from the same sessions as Antibloom, the songs on Pink Moon were sequenced with intention, offering a distinct yet complementary listening experience. Known for their meticulous attention to flow and emotional pacing, the band crafted both halves to stand on their own while also telling a broader, interconnected story, one that ebbs and crashes like the desert winds that shaped it.

Pink Moon features the only guest appearances on the project, with stunning contributions from Rory Rodriguez of Dayseeker and Cassadee Pope – voices chosen mid-process when the band sensed the need to push certain songs into new sonic territory. The result is a bold and diverse body of work that expands Silverstein’s dynamic range while staying true to their emotional core. By releasing the project in two halves, the band has given every song the room to breathe, resonate, and evolve: a fitting strategy for a year packed with touring, celebration, and reflection. The moon has risen. The story continues.

This year, fans around the world are invited to join Silverstein in celebrating their “silver” anniversary with the 25 Years Of Noise Tour. These shows offer a discography-spanning performance and fans are able to vote for their favorite songs from each record to help decide the setlist. The band recently wrapped up the initial legs in North America and the UK / EU alongside Thursday, The Callous Daoboys, Arm’s Length, and Split Chain.

The Funeral Portrait Release “Skinny Lies,” Announce Deluxe Album & Major Tour With Ice Nine Kills

THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT keep making serious waves. The emo rock revivalists achieved the #1 spot last November on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay and Mediabase’s Active Rock radio charts with their smash single “Suffocate City (feat. Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills)” and they’re again enjoying Top Ten success on the same charts with “Holy Water,” which features guest vocals by Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch.

The band—Lee Jennings (Vocals), Cody Weissinger (Guitar), Caleb Freihaut (Guitar/Auxiliary), Robert Weston (Bass), and Homer Umbanhowar (Drums)—is building on their growing success by today (April 25) releasing the lyric video for “Skinny Lies.” The track—sonically bracing and lyrically dark, highlighted by Jennings’ riveting vocal delivery—is one of three brand new songs from the forthcoming deluxe edition release of their critically acclaimed second album GREETINGS FROM SUFFOCATE CITY, due out June 13 via Better Noise Music.

“‘Skinny Lies’ is about the cracks in a relationship finally breaking open—the little white lies we tell each other stacking up until there’s nowhere left to hide,” explains singer Lee Jennings. “It’s that moment when the truth is out, and you find yourself wishing you could go back to the comfort of not knowing. This song captures the tension, the regret, and the raw emotions that come with facing reality.”

In connection with the release of “Skinny Lies,” THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT is hosting a special giveaway for fans to win a trip to Atlanta for a “Hometown Rock Ritual” concert, with proceeds supporting The Trevor Project, the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention nonprofit organization for LGBTQ young people. The grand prize includes round-trip travel to Atlanta, a two-night hotel stay for two, and two VIP tickets to their hometown show with Ice Nine Kills at the Tabernacle on Wednesday, June 4, complete with an exclusive onstage experience. Fans can enter HERE.
