Robbie Williams Rewinds the Clock with New Album ‘Britpop’ Out February 2026

0

Pop icon Robbie Williams is dialing up the nostalgia and attitude with his brand-new studio album ‘Britpop,’ out February 13, 2026. The English superstar, long celebrated for his stadium-filling anthems and charismatic flair, revisits the sound and swagger of his early solo years — a time defined by the rise of Oasis, Blur, and the unmistakable Britpop spirit that swept the 1990s.

The album’s latest single “Pretty Face” brings the energy of 1995 roaring back. Directed by Charlie Lightening with VFX from AIST, the video recreates the iconic late-night TV chaos of The Word, complete with bleached hair, track jackets, and VHS-style fuzz. “This is my ‘DeLorean Moment’ back to 1995,” Williams says. “If BRITPOP is the album I would have made, then THIS would have been the TV show… now a (virtual) reality.”

Already out are singles “Rocket” — a punk-fueled anthem featuring Black Sabbath legend Tony Iommi on guitar — and “Human,” a soaring collaboration with Jesse and Joy. “Spies” adds a touch of cinematic charm to the mix, while a stripped-back version of “Rocket” shows Williams’ knack for balancing power and intimacy.

“I set out to create the album that I wanted to write and release after I left Take That in 1995,” says Williams. “It was the peak of Britpop and a golden age for British music. I’ve worked with some of my heroes on this album; it’s raw, there are more guitars and it’s an album that’s even more upbeat and anthemic than usual. There’s some ‘Brit’ in there and there’s certainly some ‘pop’ too – I’m immensely proud of this as a body of work.”

Tracklist:

  1. Rocket
  2. Spies
  3. Pretty Face
  4. Bite Your Tongue
  5. Cocky
  6. All My Life
  7. Human

Progressive Death Metal Visionaries Alkaloid Announce ‘Bach Out of Bounds’ Live Album

0

Progressive death metal innovators Alkaloid are merging worlds with their first-ever live album, ‘Bach Out of Bounds,’ out January 23, 2026 via Season of Mist. Recorded in the Netherlands at Bibelot and Paard van Troje, the album unites the brutal precision of metal with the timeless genius of Johann Sebastian Bach. Produced by Alkaloid and mixed by Hannes Grossmann, this monumental project transforms classical composition into a blazing new frontier of heavy art. The album’s lead single, “Haunter of the Void,” is available now on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.

Vanessa Carlton Unleashes Mystical New Single ‘Animal’

0

Vanessa Carlton is stepping into a wild new era with her spellbinding new single “Animal,” produced by Dave Fridmann, known for his visionary work with MGMT and Flaming Lips. The track, out now, gives fans an early glimpse of her upcoming album Veils, set for release in early 2026. Both visceral and haunting, “Animal” showcases Carlton’s poetic storytelling and deep creative intuition.

Carlton describes “Animal” as a meditation on stoicism, exploring what it means to surrender to forces beyond our control. “The idea of knowing we cannot control external forces; she is being hunted and she accepts the reality of what is happening,” she says. “The acceptance allows her to truly see the animal. Does she even identify with this creature? Every human has an animal within them. Are you hunting? Are you being hunted? Who is the animal?” It’s a stunning piece that captures the tension between instinct and awareness, human and beast.

Carlton’s artistry has always been defined by fearless transformation. From her discovery by music legend Ahmet Ertegun to the global impact of her debut hit “A Thousand Miles,” which topped the Billboard charts and earned multiple Grammy nominations, she has continued to shape her career with bold curiosity.

In recent years, she’s crossed artistic boundaries with remarkable grace. VICE’s documentary on “A Thousand Miles” even earned a 2022 News & Documentary Emmy nomination, further cementing the song’s cultural legacy. Carlton made her Broadway debut as Carole King in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical in 2019 and recently scored her first film, Wish You Were Here, alongside her husband John McCauley of Deer Tick for director Julia Stiles.

“Animal” is the sound of an artist fully in her element—instinctive, intuitive, and endlessly evolving. With Veils on the horizon, Vanessa Carlton continues to remind listeners of the magic that happens when vision and vulnerability collide.

25 B-Sides That Are Just as Good as the A-Side

Who said the B-side had to play second fiddle? These songs flipped the script, turning what could’ve been leftovers into legends. Some became fan favorites, others redefined their bands entirely. Let’s drop the needle on 25 B-sides that shine just as bright as the hits.

“Acquiesce” – Oasis
Britpop unity in four minutes. Noel and Liam share vocals like two halves of the same storm — proof that Oasis’ B-sides were better than most bands’ A-sides.

“Blue Dahlia” – The Gaslight Anthem
Tender, bruised, and cinematic. It’s like Bruce Springsteen stumbled into a midnight diner with Brian Fallon and left this song on the jukebox.

“Cuttooth” – Radiohead
Lost in the static between dreams and anxiety, “Cuttooth” feels like the moment your thoughts start glitching — a haunting outtake that deserved the spotlight.

“Dangerous” – Depeche Mode
A sultry pulse under flickering lights. Martin Gore’s whispered temptation and Alan Wilder’s hypnotic groove make this the secret twin to “Personal Jesus.”

“Dive” – Nirvana
Heavy as a raincloud and twice as moody, “Dive” proved Cobain didn’t need a hit to be seismic. It’s sludge, swagger, and sheer attitude.

“Don’t Let Me Down” – The Beatles
John Lennon at his most raw and romantic. Billy Preston’s keys dance behind a plea so honest it almost feels too intimate for vinyl.

“Evil Twin” – Arctic Monkeys
Alex Turner’s sneer drips over a bassline built for late-night chaos. “Evil Twin” could’ve led AM — instead, it became every fan’s secret weapon.

“Half the World Away” – Oasis
Acoustic melancholy bottled in a bedsit. Noel’s wistful strum turned wanderlust into poetry — the sound of dreaming beyond the council estate.

“Hey Hey What Can I Do” – Led Zeppelin
The rare Zeppelin track where heartbreak beats heroics. A whiskey-soaked singalong that feels more human than mythical.

“Hong Kong” – Gorillaz
An ambient daydream floating over ghostly strings. Damon Albarn turns loneliness into something beautiful and cinematic.

“How Soon Is Now?” – The Smiths
A B-side so iconic it became a generation’s anthem. Marr’s tremolo guitar hums like electricity through rain-soaked English streets.

“Luminous Times (Hold On to Love)” – U2
Between Joshua Tree shadows and desert light, Bono preaches love as salvation. A hymn disguised as a hidden track.

“My Dark Star” – Suede
Glam in grayscale. Brett Anderson sighs into the cosmos while Bernard Butler paints galaxies with guitar — melancholia never sounded so lush.

“Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want” – The Smiths
Two minutes of perfection. Morrissey’s yearning and Marr’s mandolin made this B-side one of the most emotional pleas ever pressed.

“Talk Show Host” – Radiohead
Brooding, cinematic, and effortlessly cool. Before OK Computer, this was Thom Yorke’s warning that something weirder was coming.

“Rain” – The Beatles
The sound of psychedelia being born. Ringo’s finest drumming moment and Lennon’s cloudy mysticism — both sides of the storm.

“She’s Always in My Hair” – Prince
Velvet funk and pure devotion. Prince turned heartbreak into groove, a masterclass in making pain sound sexy.

“Silver Springs” – Fleetwood Mac
Stevie Nicks singing her heart into dust. The song that almost broke Rumours — and later, brought it back to life.

“Soul to Squeeze” – Red Hot Chili Peppers
A soulful detour that became an accidental classic. Flea’s bass hums, Kiedis aches, and for once, everything just… breathes.

“Stop the World I Wanna Get Off with You” – Arctic Monkeys
Cheeky and smooth, it’s the flirty encore AM didn’t know it needed. Romantic chaos wrapped in a guitar riff.

“The Masterplan” – Oasis
The ultimate B-side philosophy: “We’re all part of the masterplan.” A song so good it gave its name to a whole compilation.

“The Upstairs Room” – The Cure
Robert Smith traded gloom for groove — synths shimmer, guitars sparkle, and even melancholy sounds danceable.

“Walk Straight Down the Middle” – Kate Bush
Fear meets freedom. Bush turns uncertainty into art with an ethereal climb that could float straight into the heavens.

“Wipe Out” – The Surfaris
Technically the flip, but c’mon — that laugh, that drum roll. The beach never recovered.

“Yellow Ledbetter” – Pearl Jam
The sound of a warm summer fading. Mike McCready’s guitar speaks in tongues while Vedder mumbles poetry only the heart understands.
