0

The City of Temple is proud to announce the inaugural music lineup for Tanglefoot Music & BBQ Festival as Texas’ newest country music festival debuts this fall on September 12-13 at the MLK Festival Grounds in Downtown Temple.

To celebrate the new music lineup, organizers will be releasing two-day GA and VIP tickets to the general public starting this Friday, April 25 at 10:00 a.m. CST. Available online at www.TanglefootTX.com, fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets as soon as possible, as prices will only increase as the festival date approaches, with children less than 5 years old admitted at no cost.

ABOUT THE MUSIC LINEUP

Across two outdoor stages, festival-goers can enjoy over 20 country and Americana music acts performing at the two-day affair, with an emphasis on showcasing musicians from across the Lone Star State.

Considered one of the new leaders of Texas country music, Parker McCollum will headline the inaugural event as the rising star is set to release his latest studio album on June 27, making Tanglefoot one of the first opportunities to watch Parker perform songs from the new album live. Joining him as co-headliner will be country outlaw and MusicRow’s former Independent Artist of the Year award winner Cody Jinks, who continues to perform in support of his latest album, Change the Game, released just last year.

A pair of Texas icons, including legendary singer-songwriter Robert Earl Keen A.K.A. The Godfather of Texas Country Music, and the iconic Texas outfit that celebrates its 25th anniversary together, Randy Rogers Band, will join McCollum and Jinks in Temple alongside a dozen-plus other music acts.

Additional standouts scheduled to perform at Tanglefoot Music & BBQ Festival this fall include 90s country hitmaker Mark Chesnutt; Houston-born chart-topping singer-songwriter Jack Ingram; Frisco-based country rocker Corey Kent, who looks to reunite with McCollum as the two toured together extensively in the early years of their careers; five-piece Americana and bluegrass-inspired band The Wilder Blue who just released their new album Still In The Runnin’ last month, and more.

The full music lineup is listed below and can be found online at www.TanglefootTX.com.

ABOUT THE FAN EXPERIENCE

In addition to unforgettable performances from award-winning music artists, residents and travelers alike can explore over a dozen authentic BBQ joints from some of the country’s most popular pitmasters who will travel to Temple for a rare weekend pop-up to cook up different BBQ cuisine from across the country, specifically Texas, Kansas City, Memphis, and Carolina styles.

To offer attendees of all ages a taste of the good life found in Central Texas, organizers hope to create a lasting cultural celebration each fall that evokes a sense of pride amongst residents and ultimately boosts the local economy with out-of-town visitors spending their dollars locally.

Stay tuned as more festival details surrounding this year’s event will be announced in the coming weeks, including the BBQ and daily music performance lineups.

The City of Temple will also share more details online with its local neighbors, including information on street closures, traffic advisories, and more via www.TempleTX.gov/News.

Tanglefoot Music & BBQ Festival is an independently-owned outdoor festival held annually at the MLK Festival Grounds in Downtown Temple, Texas. Produced by Soundskilz and the City of Temple, fans of all ages are encouraged to experience an unforgettable day each fall filled with live music performances, local entertainment, and incredible BBQ pitmasters from around the country.

The festival’s name is seeped in Temple history and lore as Tanglefoot was originally a common nickname for the town in its earliest days, having been founded 140+ years ago in 1881 as a popular stop along the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad that ran from Corpus Christi, Texas to Santa Fe, Mexico. As a booming railroad town, Temple became well known as a destination where travelers, workers, and locals filled the bustling streets to enjoy lively gatherings, toe-tapping music, and true Texas hospitality, while ultimately forging a strong community spirit that continues to this day.

Vince Guaraldi’s ‘Oh, Good Grief!’ to Be Reissued on CD and Yellow Vinyl May 30

0

Omnivore Recordings has announced Vince Guaraldi’s Oh, Good Grief! will be getting a reissued released on CD and yellow vinyl on May 30.

Many people got to know Vince Guaraldi through his 1963 Grammy-winning song, “Cast Your Fate To The Wind,” or via Sounds Orchestral’s Top-10 cover of it two years later. Lee Mendelson heard Guaraldi’s version when working on a Peanuts documentary, and contacted Guaraldi asking him to score it. Although the documentary never aired, that’s when Guaraldi composed “Linus and Lucy” and all the other songs included on his 1964 album, Jazz Impressions of A Boy Named Charlie Brown. A year later in 1965, Mendelson once again tapped Guaraldi to score the upcoming Peanuts Christmas special.

It was a match made in television and musical history. With songs like “Linus And Lucy,” the special was a hit and for over five decades, not a holiday season went by without a network airing of the television classic. So potent and successful was the Peanuts/Guaraldi combination that Guaraldi went on to score a total of 15 Peanuts television specials and the first feature film.

In 1968, Vince made a label switch from his long-time home, Fantasy Records, to his new label, Warner Bros. Records. For his inaugural album, he decided to re-interpret his Peanuts classics on Oh, Good Grief! In addition to the instantly recognizable Guaraldi sound of piano, bass, and drums, this time he added electric guitar and electric harpsichord to the mix. The record was a smash hit.

Omnivore Recordings is proud to once again present the album the way the world first heard it—as stated on the original album’s back cover, “on shiny black vinyl.” Well, actually, this special pressing is “on shiny yellow vinyl!” Mastered by multi-Grammy winner Michael Graves, this timeless album has never sounded better. In addition to this special vinyl pressing, we now have this classic album available on CD for all shiny disc lovers.

Join Charlie Brown and his friends on this classic release, once again on vinyl—Oh, Good Grief!

Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame 2025 Inductees: Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes

0

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced its 2025 inductees, and it’s the kind of list that reminds you just how much music can move generations. Congratulations to Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes — a lineup that spans decades, genres, and pure musical magic.

The news broke during Sunday night’s American Idol broadcast, with Ryan Seacrest unveiling the names live on air — a tradition now two years strong thanks to ABC parent company Disney, which holds the broadcast rights to the Rock Hall ceremonies. And while the main performer category got the spotlight, there were plenty of other well-deserved honors: Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon are being recognized with the Musical Influence Award, while the late greats Thom Bell, Nicky Hopkins, and the incredible bassist Carol Kaye will receive the Musical Excellence Award. Industry titan Lenny Waronker will be honored with the Ahmet Ertegun Award for his groundbreaking work behind the scenes.

The official induction ceremony will take place on November 8th at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with a live stream on Disney+ and a televised special on ABC to follow. It’ll mark the fourth time the ceremony has been held in Los Angeles, and the first since 2022.

And what a tapestry of impact this year’s class represents.
Chubby Checker, who gave the world The Twist and kickstarted a dance craze, is finally getting his due — 65 years after releasing his first record.
Joe Cocker’s legendary raspy voice, immortalized at Woodstock and beyond, gets honored posthumously, a bittersweet but beautiful moment.
Cyndi Lauper’s revolutionary energy and fearlessness — an icon for generations of misfits and dreamers — now takes its rightful place in the Hall.
Outkast changed the face of hip-hop forever, bringing innovation, storytelling, and Southern swagger into the global spotlight.
Soundgarden, led by the late Chris Cornell, helped forge an entire genre with their heavy, deeply emotional sound.
The White Stripes reminded the world in the early 2000s that raw, minimalist rock could still start fires around the globe.
And Bad Company, those pillars of classic rock radio, are finally enshrined, their timeless anthems still soundtracking life’s biggest moments.

Of course, some notable nominees didn’t make the cut this year — The Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Maná, Oasis, and Phish — but each has carved a permanent place in the hearts of fans. Fun fact: while Phish dominated the fan ballot, it was Bad Company who finished second, with Billy Idol right behind them.

For those keeping score, artists become eligible for the Hall 25 years after their first commercial release — and remarkably, Checker, Cocker, Bad Company, and Outkast all made it in on their first nomination. A fitting tribute to careers that never stopped resonating, never stopped inspiring.

Last year’s Rock Hall class celebrated artists like Cher, Mary J. Blige, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Tribe Called Quest — a reminder that the Hall continues to stretch across genres, styles, and generations. This year’s lineup follows that spirit, blending classic rock royalty with pioneering pop icons, grunge innovators, and genre-defying visionaries.

November 8th can’t come soon enough.

Broken Social Scene’s ‘You Forgot It In People’ Gets Tribute Album Featuring Maggie Rogers, Sylvan Esso, Toro y Moi and More

0

Over the last two plus decades, Broken Social Scene’s breakthrough album You Forgot It In People has cemented its place amongst indie rock’s greatest – through its collective energy pushing the genre far beyond its noisy ’90s slacker roots to a more tirelessly collaborative, sonically expansive, emotionally expressive vision. This vision is set to see new heights with the release of ANTHEMS: A Celebration of Broken Social Scene’s You Forgot It In People – a front-to-back tribute to the hallowed Toronto band’s 2003 masterpiece.

The album, out June 6 via Arts & Crafts, reimagines You Forgot It In People with cover versions from today’s indie music icons, including Toro y Moi, The Weather Station, serpentwithfeet, and more (full tracklisting below). With today’s album announcement, Maggie Rogers and Sylvan Esso’s stirring rendition of the iconic “Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl” is available now. The song takes on a newfangled pop energy with Sylvan Esso’s exultant production laying the groundwork for Maggie’s soaring “Dream about me” chorus.

“‘Anthems’ is one of those songs that fundamentally changed my life,” Rogers reflected on the Broken Social Scene song’s impact. “There’s something about the lyrical repetition that functions as a sort of mantra within the song and it made me understand at a very early point in my creative life that music could be a form of meditation. Broken Social Scene has long been one of my all-time favorite bands and covering it with my dear friends Nick and Amelia from Sylvan Esso was an absolute joy beam dream.”

Sylvan Esso added, “It was a joy to cover this beautiful song with Maggie- we all grew up loving this record- to be asked to cover ’Anthems…’ together was an honor and led to a truly lovely time.”

The album is available for pre-order now on limited edition vinyl via Arts & Crafts. Bundle option includes a You Forgot It In People graphic novel by Z2, and You Forgot It In People songbook. A newly released documentary film, It’s All Gonna Break, revisiting Broken Social Scene’s early days, is screening throughout the USA in May and June– see cities and dates here.

Sven Gali to Release Live Album from El Mocambo

0

Canadian hard rock heavyweights Sven Gali have announced the release of a ferocious new live album, captured during their sold-out performance on Friday the 13th, September 2024, at the world-famous El Mocambo in Toronto. The record captures the band at full throttle in one of the most iconic rock venues on the planet — and it’s set to drop on another Friday the 13th: June 13, 2025.

With a history as loud as the amps that have powered it, The El Mocambo has hosted some of the most legendary names in rock: The Rolling Stones (who recorded their now-famous 1977 live set there), Stevie Ray Vaughan, U2, The Ramones, Blondie, Elvis Costello, and more. Sven Gali now joins that elite club with a performance that’s raw, unfiltered, and undeniably heavy.

“Recording at the El Mocambo was a full-circle moment for us,” says frontman Dave Wanless. “The energy of the crowd, the history of the venue, and the rawness of the night are all captured in this album. It’s a testament to our roots and our evolution.”

The live album features a thunderous setlist focused on the band’s gold-certified 1992 self-titled debut, delivering full-throttle versions of the songs that made Sven Gali a household name on MuchMusic and beyond:

    • “Under the Influence” – 1993 MuchMusic Heavy Metal Video of the Year
    • “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore” – Top 10 Canadian single and #6 CanCon song of 1993
    • “Tie Dyed Skies” and “In My Garden” – fan favorites with iconic video rotation
    • Plus a searing live cover of Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades”

Recorded live with Dave Wanless (vocals), Andy Frank (guitar), Shawn Minden (bass), Sean Williamson (guitar), and Dan Fila (drums), the album captures Sven Gali doing what they do best: delivering heavy music with zero compromise and total conviction.

As a special thank you to fans, every purchase or pre-sale of the new live album before June 30, 2025, will be automatically entered into a one-of-a-kind contest to win an official Sven Gali Gold Album Award — the real deal, issued by Music Canada, celebrating their 1992 self-titled record going gold. This isn’t a replica — it’s the same style of award that hangs in industry offices and band studios. One lucky fan is going to own a true piece of Canadian rock history.

Riot Fest Turns 20 With Green Day, Blink-182, Weezer, Jack White, and Waaaay More

0

What’s my age again? Riot Fest is turning the big 2-0, and to celebrate it’s throwing the biggest party yet, headlined by Green Day, Blink-182, Weezer, Jack White, and a total of over 90 bands performing throughout the festival weekend. “I just wanted to put a show together with all of my favorite bands”, festival founder Michael Petryshyn reminisced before the inaugural Riot Fest back in 2005.

Throughout the next 20 years, the festival has grown to become one of the biggest independent festivals in the country, known for eclectic lineups, high-profile band reunions, full album plays, and even a butter sculpture tribute to John Stamos. Along with headliners Green Day, Blink-182, Weezer, and Jack White, the festival will also include performances by the Sex Pistols (Frank Carter and Steve Jones, Paul Cook, Glen Matlock), Idles, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Alkaline Trio, All Time Low, Knocked Loose, Rilo Kiley, The Beach Boys, Jawbreaker, Dropkick Murphys, Bad Religion, The Pogues, The Hold Steady, The Academy Is…, Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes, Texas is the Reason, Dance Hall Crashers, The Front Bottoms, Knuckle Puck, The Wonder Years, James, and many many more.

Born and raised in Chicago, Riot Fest began as a punk rock festival spread across the city’s favorite local venues. Over the years, it’s earned a reputation for reuniting bands that fans had lost hope of ever seeing again, including The Replacements, The Original Misfits, Slayer, Jawbreaker and many more. While the festival remains the centerpiece, the music isn’t limited to one weekend a year. For over two decades, Riot Fest has hosted thousands of shows in independent venues throughout the city, supporting Chicago’s thriving music scene.

“We didn’t plan on making it for twenty years. We planned on making it through one weekend. But here we are – still loud, still weird, still building something bigger than we ever meant to.” ‘Riot Mike’ Petryshyn Riot Fest returns to Chicago’s Douglass Park from September 19-21, its home since 2015. A newly announced long-term agreement with the Chicago Park District ensures the festival will remain a Chicago staple for years to come.

Green Day, Blink-182, Weezer, Jack White, Sex Pistols (Frank Carter And Steve Jones, Paul Cook, Glen Matlock), Idles, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Alkaline Trio, All Time Low, Rilo Kiley, Knocked Loose, The Beach Boys, Jawbreaker, Dropkick Murphys, Bad Religion, The Pogues, The Hold Steady, The Front Bottoms, The Academy Is…, Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes, Texas Is The Reason, Knuckle Puck, The Wonder Years, James, Sparks, Dance Hall Crashers, Hanson, The Bouncing Souls, The Damned, Inhaler, Rico Nasty, Screeching Weasel, Citizen, Senses Fail, Microwave, Free Throw, Dehd, The Linda Lindas, Panchiko, Buzzcocks, Stiff Little Fingers, Superchuck, Militarie Gun, The Cribs, Shudder To Think, Helmet, Touche Amore, Pegboy, Honey Revenge, Marky Ramone, The Ataris, Camper Van Beethoven, Marianas Trench, The Didjits, Agnostic Front, Thrown, Lambrini Girls, Ovlov, Soft Play, Smoking Popes, Puddles Pity Party, H2o, Julia Wolf, Violent Vira, Delta Sleep, Mac Sabbath, Chase Petra, Wishy, The Effigies, Harrison Gordon, Samiam, The Tossers, Shonen Knife, Zero Boys, Speed Of Light, The Paradox, The Barbarians Of California, Girl In A Coma, Agent Orange, Quannnic, Weakened Friends, Dune Rats, Footballhead, Big Ass Truck Ie, Cliffdiver, Loviet, and Emo Phillips.

Spotify and ELLE Celebrate Women in Music 2025 With Addison Rae and Madison Beer

0

Spotify has an unwavering commitment to supporting emerging artists across all genres, to helping them launch and thrive in their careers, and to connecting them with fans across the globe.

And for the second year running, we’ve teamed up with ELLE, the world’s largest fashion magazine and media brand. Together, they’re again spotlighting the women featured in its May 2025 Women in Music issue, including artists whose careers began as social media sensations, first appeared on film and TV, and are currently rocking the charts.

Follow Spotify and ELLE on Instagram to see exclusive content that captures the stars of the Women in Music issue, including cover star Addison Rae, who opens up about taking creative risks with her new music and moving beyond her influencer label to define herself on her own terms. With her debut album out on Columbia Records later this year, Rae is pirouetting her way into the global pop vanguard. “I feel like I’ve surpassed Addison Rae,” she says. “It’s just Addison now.”

Also in the mix: Madison Beer opens up about the pressure of growing up on camera, how her social anxiety impacts appearances on red carpets and at award shows, how Chappell Roan’s Grammys speech was really “validating” to her own experience in the industry, and why she’s finally done chasing approval. “I’m really proud of where I am,” Madison says. “If my younger self met me right now, she’d be like, ‘You’re the coolest girl on earth. I get to be you one day? That’s so sick.’”

Finally, in addition to sharing images from the cover on special billboards in New York City and LA, they’ve invited ELLE to curate a special playlist with a selection of tracks from artists found in the issue.

ELLE’s Women in Music Issue, with its dazzling cover of Addison Rae, is on newsstands May 6.
