Create the Perfect Game and Fitness Space

0

By Mitch Rice

There is a certain magic in stepping into a room made for play. A space that is ideal for relaxing, engaging in physical activity and competition rather than work, stress, or deadlines. A sleek gaming den can be set up by some people in a spare room. Others prefer to go full out and install advanced home gyms. And then, there are those who combine the two, constructing a personal oasis where exercise, reflex honing, and friendly competition are all possible.

The beauty of having a game and fitness space at home is that one is left without having to choose. It’s a win-win situation. A casual game night with the billiard pool table or an intense training session? It all happens in one place.

Game night, every night!

Think about the last time friends were over. The fights-over where to go, endless scrolling through Netflix no one agrees on, the awkward pauses between conversations. That wasn’t fun. Now, Imagine instead: the relaxing sound of a cue ball breaking the pack, the light banter while playing a competitive game, and the effortless way everyone engages in the action.

This is the magic and charm that a billiard pool table brings to a space. A billiard pool table enhances the aesthetic appeal of any room because it can serve as a centerpiece for social gatherings. It does not matter if a pool table is lavishly adorned and displayed in a sophisticated lounge or concealed in a friendly basement den; people are always drawn to it, encouraged to remain, engage, and enjoy.

Consider a young couple looking to renovate their house and looking for something fun, different and more personalized. They want a space that is fun but not overstimulating; one that will enable them to host game nights, but still avoid looking like a sports bar. This calls for a modern, wooden pool table that acts as a dining table when needs arise. There is No additional square footage needed! This furnishing will fit perfectly within the home’s decor and will also provide an excellent way to relax after long working hours.

But while billiards is a unique way to socialize, some people do desire a more active and energetic sport. That’s where padel steps in.

Great For The Whole Family – Padel!

Padel has become popular. For someone who has never played Padel, imagine a combination of tennis and squash. It is fast, entertaining, and vaguely resembles a sport that is strangely addictive. What makes it even better? There is no need for large courts as many players are creating small Padel training spaces at home!

All that is needed these days is a high-quality padel racquet. Start from there and any room will slowly turn into a padel court! Now, one can play quick, 20-minute drills after work even when there is no time to go to a club.

Padel can also be played outside an individual’s self training. Families are also taking up padel as a recreational pastime that promotes them to stay fit together. The beauty of the sport is its accessibility, which allows people of all ages to participate, making it ideal for mixed ability groups. Parents, children and even grandparents can partake in it.

Yet while games are there to keep us physically fit, no activity space is complete without a dedicated training zone.

A Fitness Corner for Game Room

Anyone engaged in sports will benefit from staying fit, irrespective of the particular sport one loves. A pool player, for example, will benefit from having strong core muscles, while a padel enthusiast requires being agile and enduring. This explains why home gyms have become a focal point of fitness and gaming activities.

Begin with a couple of dumbbells and a treadmill in the garage and allow the setup to gradually evolve as more training equipment is needed. A well-designed home gym doesn’t have to be extravagant. Even a small setup consisting of adjustable weights, Resistance bands, and a bench are ideal for making serious impacts.

Constructing The Ideal Space For Indoor Sports

There are a few tips that can offer a helping hand in trying to work out a setup at home.

Consider Your Space:

One is free to use a whole basement, or a simple part of the living room; whichever it is, attempt to maximize how much you can fit in there. An example is a billiard pool table, which requires large areas around it so that comfortable play is possible. Alternatively, a padel training setup can also be simplified to a rebound wall with a soft surface.

Invest In Quality Equipment:

With a proper padel racquet, your game will greatly improve, just like having a good quality pool table makes playing more enjoyable. With the same, pick quality in gym equipment – make sure the design and materials used are of an ergonomic, durable nature.

Mix Fun and Fitness:

Do not limit the space for just one activity. A pool table is perfect for social events, while a padel training set allows for more versatility. Home gyms complete the puzzle, providing the best combination of fun and physical activity.

People are realizing that it is possible to design a home that caters to both leisure and fitness. Workouts don’t have to be tedious!

Fit For A King Unleash New Anthem “No Tomorrow”

0

Fit For A King are back with a brand new song and video called “No Tomorrow.” It follows last year’s “TECHNIUM,” which featured The Plot In You vocalist Landon Tewers

It opens slowly and from there on out, it’s all gas, no brakes. The track quickly escalates into the moshy ragers that FFAK are known for, to the delight of their legion of fans, who will also love the sticks-in-your-brain, melodic chorus.

“This song is about love and tragedy,” says singer Ryan Kirby. “A couple [is] experiencing the end of the world together. But instead of living through it in fear, they choose to enjoy their last moments enjoying each other and celebrating what they had.”

Rhiannon Rodriguez Shares Vulnerable New Single “Lie I Can’t Deny”

0

Following the sparkling debut of “Pink Lemonade”, multi-disciplinary artist Rhiannon Rodriguez returns with a darker, more vulnerable offering: “Lie I Can’t Deny”, out today via Cosmica Artists. The second single from her upcoming debut EP Bittersweet, the track peels back the layers of young heartbreak with unflinching honesty and soul-soaked simplicity.

A slow-burning ballad anchored by Rhiannon’s emotive vocals and lyrical depth, “Lie I Can’t Deny” explores the dissonance between truth and self-preservation. With lines like “I guess ink fades over time / I guess time takes what is mine,” Rhiannon captures the ache of letting go while still feeling tethered to what once was.

Accompanying the release is a stripped-down live performance video, arriving May 1st filmed at the legendary Troublemaker Studios in Austin, TX-helmed by her father, filmmaker Robert Rodriguez-and featuring a special appearance from his band, Chingon. The performance delivers a raw, intimate version of the song, filmed in a single take that mirrors the emotional weight of the lyrics.

“This one came from a place I didn’t know how to say out loud,” Rhiannon shares. “So I wrote it down instead. It’s about sitting in silence with the truth, even when it hurts.”

At just 19 years old, Rhiannon is steadily building a sonic universe rooted in self-expression, visual storytelling, and emotional authenticity. Blending elements of bedroom pop, indie soul, and jazz-influenced vocals, her artistry is as multidimensional as her background-one shaped by animation, film, and music.

“Lie I Can’t Deny” follows her debut single “Pink Lemonade”, a heartfelt tribute to friendship and joy, as well as early songwriting credits for the 2023 Spy Kids reboot. Her debut EP Bittersweet is set to arrive later this year.

James Bay Expands ‘Changes All The Time’ With New Deluxe Edition

0

Three-time GRAMMY Award-nominated and BRIT Award-winning multi-platinum singer, songwriter, and guitarist James Bay expands his acclaimed 2024 album, Changes All The Time, with a special digital deluxe edition that includes four brand new tracks.

The lead single “You and Me Time” unites Bay with the GRAMMY Award-winning icon Sheryl Crow. It marks their first collaboration together. On the track, breezy humming glides over bright acoustic guitar and claps. Uplifted in the swell of an energetic riff and stomping groove, it culminates on a chantable and cheeky chorus as Bay confesses, “All I want is you and me time.”

Meanwhile, Crow counters with a flirty verse of her own before leaping into a sky-high harmony on the hook. Then, there’s “The Elephant,” co-written with Holly Humberstone and featuring breakout Nashville singer-songwriter Maggie Antone. A loose guitar lead gives way to softly strummed chords as Bay’s introspective lyrics strike a chord. During the hook, he accepts, “I can run from it, but I can’t hide, see the elephant from every side.” Lightly plucked acoustic guitar brushes up against his delicate and breathy delivery on “Latchkey Kid.” He sets the scene, “Latchkey kid, heart of gold, no one told you that things will turn out alright.”

Bay paved the way for Changes All The Time (Deluxe) with “Sunshine In The Room” featuring 7x-GRAMMY Award winner, EMMY Award winner, and Academy Award winner Jon Batiste. Beyond amassing 3.5 million Spotify streams and counting.

He will return to the road in North America for his much-anticipated “Up All Night” Tour this Spring. It marks his first full-scale U.S. headline run since 2023. This jaunt kicks off on April 21 at First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN, rolls through major markets coast-to-coast, and concludes on May 28 at MTELUS in Montreal, QC. Of course, the tour notably shares its moniker with his fan favorite 2024 single “Up All Night” with The Lumineers and Noah Kahan. The single catapulted to #1 on the Billboard Adult Alternative Airplay Chart as Bay’s first-ever radio #1 in the States.

Legends Of Surf Guitar Captures A Historic Celebration On Vinyl

0

On April 1, 1995, an unforgettable celebration of surf music history took place at the iconic Lighthouse Café in Hermosa Beach. Now, for the first time, this remarkable event will be available on vinyl, CD and digital, for fans around the world to experience. Legends of Surf Guitar captures a pivotal moment when original surf pioneers and revivalists joined forces to celebrate the music that defined a generation.

In the late 1970s and early ’80s, a new wave of surf instrumental revival bands — including Jon & The Nightriders, The Surf Raiders, The Malibooz, and others — reignited interest in the genre, setting the stage for events like this. Building on the momentum from films like Pulp Fiction and a surge of surf-centric radio shows, producer/radio host Les Perry and surf legend Paul Johnson organized the Lighthouse Surf Band Reunion, creating a once-in-a-lifetime musical homecoming.

The event brought together original players from the 1960s and the 1980s revival scene, including legendary names such as The Chantays, The Surfaris, Davie Allan & The Arrows, and special guests like Bob Dalley of The Surf Raiders and Bob Demmon of The Astronauts. Supporting the performers was a stellar backline featuring Don Murray (The Crossfires, The Turtles), Pete Curry (The Halibuts, Los Straitjackets), and John Blair (Jon & The Nightriders), who also co-produced the release alongside renowned engineer Mark Linett (The Beach Boys, Los Lobos, Red Hot Chili Peppers).

Captured live, Legends of Surf Guitar offers a vibrant, reverb-soaked journey through surf classics like “Mr. Moto,” “Wipe Out,” and “Pipeline,” as well as newer favorites from the genre’s revival era. The energy in the packed Lighthouse Café was electric, with dancers filling every inch of the floor and smiles all around — a scene lovingly recalled by special guest Elliot Easton of The Cars, who attended and contributed to the day’s recordings.

John Blair (Legends of Surf Guitar co-producer, surf music historian, and author of The Illustrated Discography of Surf Music, 1961–1965) — says, “This recording captures a rare moment when the pioneers and the new generation of surf musicians came together under one roof — a celebration of the music’s past, present, and future, all at a legendary venue just steps from the ocean.”

Co-producer and three time Grammy winner Mark Linett, recalls, “I’ve loved surf music ever since hearing ‘Wipeout’ and ‘Pipeline’ as a teenager in New York. When I heard about the 1995 Lighthouse show, I knew I had to capture it. Using one of the first digital 8-track recorders — with help from my friend Elliott Easton of The Cars — we recorded a great day of reverb-soaked music in Hermosa Beach. Many of the players are sadly no longer with us, but thanks to surf historian and co-producer John Blair, this historic gathering is finally getting its day in the sun. I hope you’ll agree it was worth the wait.”

The importance of this event is underscored by heartfelt testimonials from music legends:

“What a great live collection of surf classics — takes me back to the time when The Beach Boys played with Dick Dale at the Rendezvous Ballroom,” says Al Jardine of The Beach Boys.

“They caught these guys on tape at the right time. The mixes are phenomenal,” adds producer and musician Ben Vaughn.

“This album has all the elements that make surf music a unique genre,” says Bob Spalding of The Ventures.

“On April 1, 1995, I attended the Lighthouse Surf Band Reunion in Hermosa Beach. Having just moved to L.A. from the East Coast, I was still fascinated by Southern California’s ‘Kustom Kulture’ — Rat Fink, George Barris, Fender guitars, and surf music. Surf tunes like ‘Wipeout’ and ‘Pipeline’ were the first songs I really learned to play, so this music has always been close to my heart. Seeing The Chantays, The Surfaris, Davie Allan and others live was unforgettable — a memory I’ll always cherish. These sounds take us back to a simpler, more carefree time of cars, girls, beaches, and of course, SURF MUSIC!”, says Elliott Easton of The Cars

Legends of Surf Guitar is more than a concert recording — it’s a living document of a genre that continues to inspire musicians and fans alike. Featuring rare performances by some of surf music’s original and most revered figures, this release stands as a vibrant reminder of the enduring power and joyful spirit of surf guitar.

A portion of the original event proceeds benefited: KMAX radio and the Surfrider Foundation.

What Private Event Gigs Can Teach You About Audience Connection

0

By Mitch Rice

You haven’t truly tested your ability to connect with a crowd until you’ve played a private event where the audience didn’t come to see you.

Unlike ticketed shows or festivals, private gigs like weddings, corporate parties, and milestone birthdays are a different kind of performance. You’re the entertainment, sure, but the spotlight isn’t necessarily yours. And that’s exactly what makes these gigs such powerful learning grounds for performers.

You Learn to Read the Room in Real Time

When you’re booked for a private event, there’s no guarantee that anyone in the room knows your name or even expected live music. That means you’re walking into a space where engagement isn’t automatic. You have to earn it.

This is where the ability to read a crowd becomes essential. Are people in the mood for something upbeat, or do they want something more low-key? Are they talking over you, or are they starting to pay attention? Private gigs sharpen that skill fast. You learn to shift gears, adjust your set, and communicate through your performance in a way that matches the energy in the room.

It’s Not About You, It’s About Them

At a concert, people show up to hear your songs. At a private event, you’re often part of someone else’s milestone moment. The best performers know how to make the event feel special for the hosts and their guests without dominating the room.

This teaches humility and awareness. You begin to understand how to elevate an experience without overshadowing it. That might mean honoring a couple’s first dance request, matching a corporate event’s tone, or keeping things light at a birthday celebration. Private gigs teach you how to play for people, not just at them.

Engagement Happens Off the Stage Too

Private events bring you physically closer to your audience. There’s no green room, no backstage curtain, just you and the guests, often within arm’s reach. That proximity creates opportunities to interact more naturally, whether you’re taking requests, responding to the vibe in the moment, or just sharing a laugh with someone on the dance floor.

These casual interactions help performers build real connections. For artists looking to refine their stage presence, there’s no better classroom than a room full of people who didn’t expect to be your audience but became fans by the end of the night.

You Discover the Power of Versatility

Private events are unpredictable. You might start the evening with soul classics, shift into modern pop, and close out with a jazz standard. For example, if you’re organizing a celebration and want to add an unforgettable finale, you can buy fireworks online to light up the night and leave a lasting impression. Being able to adjust your setlist on the fly shows the crowd you’re in tune with their energy.

Private events are a great example of how versatility impacts audience engagement. The experts at Green Light Booking emphasize the importance of being prepared for all kinds of moments, noting that artists should be able to shift gears quickly and connect with any crowd, no matter the occasion.

A Different Kind of Stage, the Same Core Lesson

Private gigs may not have the glitz of a festival or the buzz of a club, but they offer something just as valuable. They teach you how to connect. Not through hype or spectacle, but by tuning into the people in front of you and giving them a moment they didn’t see coming.

If you can win over a room that didn’t come for you, imagine what you can do when they do.

How Long Do CBD Gummies Take to Work? A Complete Guide

0

By Mitch Rice

CBD gummies have quickly become one of the most popular ways to enjoy the benefits of cannabidiol. Whether you’re trying to ease anxiety, promote restful sleep, or manage chronic pain, CBD gummies offer a tasty, discreet, and user-friendly solution. However, one of the most frequently asked questions among both new and experienced users is: How long do CBD gummies take to work? The answer is not straightforward, as it depends on several biological, chemical, and lifestyle factors. This article will dive deep into everything you need to know about CBD gummy activation time, including how they’re absorbed, how long they last, and how to optimize your experience.

CBD gummies work differently than other delivery methods, such as oils, vapes, or tinctures. When you take a CBD gummy, the cannabidiol must pass through your digestive system and liver before entering your bloodstream — a process known as first-pass metabolism. As a result, the onset of effects is slower compared to vaping or placing oil under your tongue. On average, CBD gummies take 30 to 90 minutes to begin working. Some users may feel effects earlier, while others might not notice a difference for up to two hours.

The duration of effects also sets CBD gummies apart from other forms of CBD. Once absorbed, the effects can last anywhere from 4 to 8 hours, depending on your dosage and individual body chemistry. Some users report even longer-lasting effects, especially when taking larger doses or using full-spectrum products that contain other cannabinoids and terpenes. Unlike quick-acting products like vapes that fade within a few hours, CBD edibles provide a steady, long-lasting experience ideal for managing chronic symptoms or maintaining wellness throughout the day or night.

Several variables influence how long CBD gummies take to work. Dosage is one of the most significant factors. Lower doses, such as 10 mg, may be absorbed more quickly but might produce subtler effects. Higher doses, typically between 25 and 50 mg, could take longer to metabolize but often result in more pronounced or sustained benefits. Metabolism also plays a significant role — individuals with faster metabolic rates might feel the effects sooner, but may also process and eliminate CBD more quickly. In contrast, slower metabolisms could result in delayed onset but longer-lasting effects.

Stomach contents are another crucial variable. Taking CBD gummies on an empty stomach may lead to faster absorption and quicker results. However, this can also amplify the effects and potentially lead to discomfort if you’re sensitive to cannabinoids. On the other hand, consuming gummies after a meal, especially one containing fats, can slow down absorption but may also increase the overall bioavailability of CBD, meaning your body might use more of the compound. Body weight and composition also matter, as CBD is lipophilic and tends to bind to fat molecules in the body, which can influence both the timing and intensity of effects.

Personal body chemistry and your endocannabinoid system — the biological system interacting with cannabinoids — are inherently unique. Some individuals are naturally more sensitive to CBD and may require lower doses to feel its effects, while others may need to build up the compound in their system over time to notice a difference. Additionally, people who use CBD regularly might develop a tolerance, which can affect how quickly and strongly the product works.

Real-world experiences vary, but general patterns emerge. First-time users often report feeling the effects within 60 to 90 minutes. These effects may include subtle relaxation, improved focus, reduced nervous energy, or enhanced mood. The onset might be faster for seasoned users, typically between 30 and 60 minutes, especially if they have established a consistent CBD routine. People who take CBD for sleep usually consume gummies an hour before bedtime and report falling asleep more easily and staying longer.

If you want to get the most out of your CBD gummies, there are several best practices. Consistency is key — taking your gummies simultaneously daily can help your body maintain steady cannabinoid levels, enhancing the cumulative benefits. Tracking your dosage and effects can also be helpful. Keeping a journal of when you take CBD, how much, and how it makes you feel can guide you to your ideal dosage and timing. Start with a low dose — typically 5 to 10 mg — and increase gradually if needed. Many users find their “sweet spot” within a week or two of consistent use.

Choosing the right product significantly affects how quickly and effectively CBD gummies work. Full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD gummies may offer enhanced effects through the entourage effect, where various cannabinoids and terpenes work together synergistically. Products using nano-emulsified CBD — a formulation that makes the molecules more water-soluble — may offer faster onset times due to better absorption rates.

Consumers often wonder whether taking another dose is safe if they don’t feel anything immediately. It’s crucial to wait at least two hours before increasing your dose. The delayed onset of CBD edibles can mislead people into thinking the product isn’t working, prompting them to take more than needed, which can result in more substantial or longer-lasting effects than anticipated. Suppose you consistently don’t feel any effects, even after days of use. In that case, it may be worth evaluating the product’s potency and ingredients or trying a different delivery method, such as oils or softgels.

CBD gummies are ideal for a variety of use cases. Many people take them in the morning for sustained focus and calm during the day, while others use them at night to help relax and sleep. They’re also popular among individuals dealing with chronic stress, anxiety, inflammation, and muscle recovery. Because they provide measured, controlled doses and have long-lasting effects, gummies are particularly suited for people who want consistent relief without needing to re-dose frequently.

When shopping for CBD gummies, always prioritize quality and transparency. Look for third-party lab-tested products, clearly labeled and free of synthetic additives or artificial preservatives. Organic, vegan, and non-GMO options are available for clean ingredients. Additionally, ensure that your product contains no more than 0.3% THC, especially if you live in a state with strict cannabis regulations.

In summary, the time it takes for CBD gummies to work generally ranges from 30 to 90 minutes, depending on factors like metabolism, dosage, diet, and personal tolerance. The effects are typically longer-lasting than other delivery methods and can offer steady, reliable relief when used correctly. While it may take some experimentation to find your ideal timing and dosage, the long-term benefits of consistent CBD use are often worth the wait.

If you’re new to CBD or looking to optimize your experience, understanding how long CBD gummies take to work is the first step toward achieving your wellness goals. Be patient, choose high-quality products, and always listen to your body. With mindful use, CBD gummies can become a powerful part of your daily routine, helping you feel calmer, more focused, and more in control of your well-being.

Watchhouse Announces New Album ‘Rituals’ And Extensive 2025 U.S. Tour

0

North Carolina duo Watchhouse (Andrew Marlin & Emily Frantz) have shared new single “Firelight,” the final advance offering from their forthcoming album Rituals (out May 30). A delicate and intimate reflection on the inevitable cycle of both change and consistency, “Firelight” finds Frantz stepping into the spotlight for vocals on this track, framed by bouzouki, harmonium and mandolin (Marlin) and graceful accents of pedal steel (Matt Smith).

Earlier this week, Zach Bryan called Watchhouse’s recent album single “All Around You” “one of the best written songs in the past five years.” Watchhouse will perform the song on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Monday, April 28th; find your local tune-in time here.

Co-produced with Ryan Gustafson (The Dead Tongues), Rituals explores the boundaries between identity and awareness, and how we often confuse familiar patterns with truths. The 11-song collection muses on the endless nature of evolution, asking questions like: how can we have a positive relationship with change? How can we meet our ends gracefully? Is the world on fire or at home in the sun?

The 11-song collection is the pair’s first release of all new, original songs since their 2021 self-titled album, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass chart and earned praise from Rolling Stone (“pristine acoustic picking collides with hazy, dream-like psychedelia”) Mojo, NPR Music, American Songwriter and more.

Starting over a decade ago playing coffee shops and local restaurants around North Carolina, Watchhouse have grown into a bonafide folk music sensation and one of 21st century indie music’s biggest grassroots success stories. With sold-out shows at legendary venues like Red Rocks and the Ryman Auditorium, and hundreds of millions of streams, they’ve earned a reputation for creating music that “redefines roots music for a younger generation” (Washington Post). The duo – now a family of their own – are two singers and musicians with profound chemistry, performing earnest yet masterfully crafted songs that encompass the unknowable mysteries, existential heartbreak, and communal joys of modern life. The forthcoming album is no exception.

Watchhouse is hitting the road in 2025 for an extensive US tour, including shows with The Avett Brothers and festival appearances at MerleFest, Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, and more. Their headline dates start on June 14th in St. Paul, MN, and will continue through fall with stops in Chicago, Seattle, NYC, and more.
