KMFDM Release 20th Anniversary Remix Of “HAU RUCK” Ahead Of Album Reissue

0

‘HAU RUCK 2025’ is a 20th anniversary remixed edition of the classic album ‘HAU RUCK’, the fourteenth album by celebrated industrial rock band KMFDM. The original record had been recorded in Seattle and issued via Metropolis Records in September 2005. The reissue will be released on May 23rd.

While touring in support of its 2003 predecessor ‘WWIII’, band leader Sascha Konietzko had discussed the group’s plans for their next album: “What we can all agree on, and I’m not saying we disagree on any other things, but everybody was pointing out that it should be really different. There are terms floating around such as, ‘More noisy, more dance-y, more electronic and less butt rock.”

The album was originally going to be titled ‘FUBAR’ in reference to the military acronym ‘F***ed Up Beyond All Recognition/Repair’. However, that was abandoned in favour of ‘HAU RUCK’, which is German for ‘heave-ho’.

‘HAU RUCK’ includes perennial fan favourite songs such as ‘Professional Killer’, ‘Ready To Blow’, ‘Free Your Hate’ and the title track.

Duncan Lloyd Releases “Laugh So Loud” Ahead Of New Album ‘Unwound’ Featuring Joe Boyer

0

English songwriter-guitarist Duncan Lloyd presents his invigorating single ‘Laugh So Loud’, the first taste from his new ‘Unwound’ album, forthcoming via Reveal Records.

Featuring a guest appearance by Joe Boyer (Cloud Nothings, Autopolitan) and accompanied by an adrenaline-rush of a video, this song is about self-doubt and passing things off as being fine.

A critically acclaimed solo artist, Lloyd is the primary musician behind internationally renowned art-rockers Maximo Park and also a member and co-writer (with Sarah Suri) in the indie band Nano Kino. Through a career spanning over two decades, Duncan Lloyd is a Mercury Music Prize nominee, has won an NME award, had A-listed singles at BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music (including lyric of the year), and has seen success with worldwide platinum and gold selling records. His songs have featured on eight hit albums with Maximo Park, consistently charting in the Top 10 U.K.

“I wanted to hear something urgent yet melodic. Lyrically, it is about doubt. There is a lot of pretending things are fine and hiding from the reality of the world outside or not discussing the real problems publically for fear of reprisal, so itʼs a reaction to the sedentary state of mind,” says Duncan Lloyd.

“In public, all your secrets go to sleep etc. I lent my guitar to a friend and found it plugged into an old VOX amp one morning at the rehearsal room, the amp sounded so good that the song materialised as I played through it. It has a certain spirit akin to the early 90’s, heavy then it drops with a vocal on the bridge reminiscent of Midwest bands from a similar period. Featuring Joe Boyer (ex- Cloud Nothings / Autopolitan) on the other guitar.”

Duncan Lloyd’s new 12-track album ‘Unwound’ is the first studio album of new material that Lloyd is releasing via Reveal Records, his previous albums having been released by Warp Records and also independently. With cover artwork derived from Lloyd’s own paintings, this record weaves a unique musical maze of free and varied personal expression, deep and transient, spare, intense and urgent with a balance of grit, beauty and melody.

Partly recorded by Julie McLarnon (The Vaselines, Lankum, King Creosote, Jeffrey Lewis, Brigid Mae Power) at Analogue Catalogue Studios in Ireland and by Lloyd himself at his studio in Newcastle Upon Tyne, this album also features contributions by Maximo Park keyboardist Jemma Freese and drummer Tom English.

Writing, recording (and painting) under his own name over the last decade, the Derby-born songwriter received an enthusiastic message from UK indie label/manager Tom Rose of Reveal Records in 2019, suggesting a future collaboration on his solo works (Rose had been listening to Lloyd’s 2019 album ‘Outside Notion’ whilst on tour with now label-mate Joan As Police Woman). Requesting Duncan sent everything he’d recorded to date in whatever form, reissues of Lloyd’s early solo albums followed. The colossal 31-track selected works collection ‘Green Grows Devotion’ came out in 2022, followed by ‘Fun City’, a trilogy of three EPs recorded in succession throughout 2024.

While ‘Unwound’ is very much an album with Duncan Lloyd stepping front and centre, his career is dotted with collaboration with various musicians and producers, including Paul Epworth (Bloc Party, Glass Animals, Rihanna), Gil Norton (The Pixies, Echo & The Bunnymen), Nick Launay (Nick Cave, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Ben Allen (Gnarls Barclay, Deerhunter), Rudimental, Dave Okumu, Batida and as part of Africa Express with legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen.

X Ambassadors Release “VHS(X)” Announcement And Celebrate 10 Years Of ‘VHS’ With Hometown Shows

0

In honor of the 10th anniversary of VHS, alt-rock group X Ambassadors are thrilled to announce back to back hometown shows in Ithaca this fall. Taking place September 19th and 20th at State Theatre, these shows will be a celebration of the band’s critically acclaimed debut album. VIP ticket packages are available this week through artist presale. General on-sale begins this Friday, May 9th. Stay tuned for more dates to be announced soon.

Additionally X Ambassadors has announced that they will be releasing a reimagined version of the VHS this summer. VHS(X) sees the band reworking hit songs like “Unsteady” and break-out single “Renegades”, showcasing a decade of growth and evolution.

Front man Sam Nelson Harris shares: “It’s a rare thing to be in a band that’s been together as long as we have. We’ve been together for almost 20 years. This album was made, conceived, and released 10 years ago but we had already been hustling for almost a decade prior to that. When the door finally was opened for us with ‘Renegades’ it was a scramble to finish an album and get it out. VHS was mostly made on the road– in the back of our van, backstage in green rooms, bathrooms, hotel rooms, wherever we could steal a moment. It was chaotic, it was piece-meal. To be honest, we couldn’t appreciate a single moment of it because it was all moving so fast. So it’s been such a blessing to be able to revisit it and celebrate these songs and the people we were when we made them.”

DAX Releases “Lonely Dirt Road” Remix Featuring Maverick City Music And Nick Day From Album ‘From A Man’s Perspective’

0

Platinum-certified Nigerian-Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter DAX unveils an emotionally charged expanded remix of his standout track “Lonely Dirt Road”, featuring Grammy-winning collective Maverick City Music and rising artist Nick Day. Set for release May 6 via RECORDS/Columbia Records, this reimagined version builds on the original’s momentum with fresh spiritual depth and cross-genre collaboration set to make an impact.

Originally featured on DAX’s 2024 album From a Man’s Perspective, “Lonely Dirt Road” has emerged as a breakout favorite, surging across streaming platforms with strong growth week over week as fans continue to discover the impactful track. Co-written by DAX and Lex Nour, the song presents a powerful reflection on pain, faith, and personal transformation.

Over gentle piano, ambient guitar, and pulsing rhythm, DAX sings: “I bring my hatred, I pack my pain. All the emotions I cannot explain. It’s where I found God and filled that hole. It’s he, myself and I on that lonely dirt road.”

The remix deepens that emotional core, with Maverick City Music adding lush gospel harmonies and Nick Day lending a heartfelt vocal performance. The result is a transcendent anthem that bridges hip-hop, gospel, and soul.

“This remix is bigger than music,” says DAX. “It’s about unity, faith, and healing. I’m honored to have Maverick City Music and Nick Day walk this road with me and help carry the message even further.”

Once again, he teams up with frequent collaborator and director Logan Meis for the accompanying cinematic music video for the remix.

Parcels Release “Yougotmefeeling” And Announce New Album ‘LOVED’ Out September 12

0

Parcels have announced their third studio album, LOVED, set for release on September 12th via Because Music. LOVED will consist of 12 tracks including recent singles “Safeandsound,” “Leaveyourlove” and new single “Yougotmefeeling” – performed by the band in a new live session.

LOVED promises to be an exuberant and euphoric collection of music, while also offering moments of reflection. The band describe it as an album of unity – with each other and with their listeners. Some of the new music has been previewed at their recent live shows, including at Coachella Festival last month. The album follows their previous studio LPs, the critically acclaimed 2021 release Day/Night, and the band’s breakthrough debut Parcels from 2018.

Of the record, Parcels say: “It’s very internal for all of us, so personal and so deep, which is sometimes quite uncomfortable. But I guess that’s what Parcels is – at least at the moment – all of us having that individual journey, then trying to make a space so we can funnel everybody’s experiences into the same world and express it as a celebration.”

The album’s journey began following a six-month hiatus in early 2023, the first time the band had rested since they formed in 2014 . When the quintet – comprised of guitarist Jules Crommelin, keyboardist Louie Swain, keyboardist/guitarist Patrick Hetherington, bassist Noah Hill, and drummer Anatole “Toto” Serret – reconvened, they brought individual compositions to life in studios across Berlin, Byron Bay, Sydney, Oaxaca, and Mexico City. This approach differed from their previous album, Day/Night, which was recorded in a single studio.

Full track listing for LOVED is as follows:
1. Tobeloved
2. Ifyoucall
3. Safeandsound
4. Sorry
5. Yougotmefeeling
6. Leaves
7. Everybodyelse
8. Summerinlove
9. Leaveyourlove

joan Releases “So Nice” With EPEX And Announces Bloc Party Tour Dates Ahead Of New Project

0

Beloved alt-pop duo joan-Alan Benjamin Thomas and Steven Rutherford-are kicking off another exciting chapter in 2025 with two major announcements. Today, the band shares their feature on K-pop group EPEX’s new single “so nice,” out now alongside a vibrant official music video.

Written and produced by joan, the track showcases their distinct sonic style and introduces a fresh creative partnership. Additionally, joan will once again hit the road this spring, joining Bloc Party on select North American tour dates. The run kicks off May 30 at MGM Music Hall at Fenway and includes a highly anticipated stop at NYC’s Forest Hills Stadium for the “20 Years of Bloc Party: Silent Alarm & Greatest Hits” celebration.

“Last fall, we got tagged in a video of YEWANG from EPEX singing one of our songs. We had been on a huge K-pop kick around that time and literally had just listened to “UNIVERSE.” We connected with each other and ended up dreaming about writing a song for them, and “So Nice” came out of that. We wrote it specifically for them, and we were so honored when they said they wanted to record it for their project. When they asked us to feature on it, it was an immediate “YES”, and then when they asked us to fly that next week to shoot a music video together, it was an even more immediate yes. We’re so excited and honored to have written and produced this track, and cannot believe that the EPEX boys let us be on it as well. Hope you love it,” says joan.

This follows the duo’s spring headline run, “the close friends tour,” and a series of recent singles including “face,” “magic,” “eyes,” and “heartbodymindsoul,” building anticipation for their next full project. With over 200 million global streams and more than one million monthly listeners, joan continues to evolve their sound, all while staying rooted in the emotional honesty and sonic nostalgia that fans have come to love.

From debut EP portra to their full-length album superglue and their global touring history, including sold-out dates in Asia and support slots for COIN, The Aces, and MisterWives, joan are carving out a unique lane in the alternative pop scene.
