J.I.D Returns With New Single “WRK” Ahead of Next Chapter

0

GRAMMY nominated and Platinum selling rapper J.I.D has returned with a brand new single titled, “WRK.” Produced by GRAMMY winning producer Pluss and longtime collaborator Christo, “WRK” centres J.I.D signature double time bars, infectious word plays and vocal changes that keeps the listener hooked for the length of the three-minute track. Listen here.

The song was first teased at Dreamville Festival earlier this month when J.I.D played it to packed crowds in Raleigh, N.C. with fans having already shared the snippet online feverishly.

Though the Atlanta rapper has stayed busy with sold out tours and collaborations with Lil Yachty, Ab-Soul, NewJeans, Eminem and more —  “WRK” is the first solo cut from J.I.D since the release of his critically acclaimed album, The Forever Story (Dreamville/Interscope Records, 2022).  The album which Rolling Stone, Complex, NPR, GQ, XXL and more included in their “Best Albums of The Year” lists bore fruits well past its release date. Almost a year after its release, a cut from the record — the infectious track “Surround Sound” — soar to viral acclaim with its own TikTok challenge and ended the year in the #1 position across Billboard Viral 50, TikTok Viral and TikTok 50. The song featuring Atlanta natives 21 Savage and Baby Tate re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 2024 and went onto be 3x Platinum certified.

Born and raised in East Atlanta, Grammy nominated J.I.D grew up on his parents’ collection of classic funk/soul LPs, and broke onto the scene with his 2015 EP, DiCaprio. The EP saw him collaborating with hip-hop duo EARTHGANG, whom he’d previously joined on a 2014 tour. Spotted here by J. Cole, J.I.D was promptly signed to Dreamville/Interscope Records. Soon after the signing, J.I.D made his major-label debut with the widely celebrated The Never Story (2017) which was quickly followed by the critically acclaimed album DiCaprio 2 (2018). The sophomore project received major looks from press and tastemakers like Rolling Stone, Billboard, FADER, NPR and helped induct the rapper to the year’s XXL’s Freshmen class. In 2019, J.I.D continued his momentum as rap’s most exciting additions with stellar contributions on Dreamville’s Platinum certified compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III which went on to debut #1 on the Billboard Top 200 charts and received multiple GRAMMY nominations including “Best Rap Album” and “Best Rap Performance.” J.I.D began working on his follow up effort The Forever Story (2022) during this time all while selling out venues and festival stages across the world and lending his rap stylings to peer projects including the Grammy nominated Planet HER by Doja Cat as well as Dua Lipa, Denzel Curry and more recently John Legend and Joey Badass. The Forever Story debuted at #12 on the Billboard Hot 200 has been critically acclaimed as a “classic” (Clash) and one of the year’s “best rap albums” (GQ, The Ringer). Almost a year after its release, a cut from the record — the infectious track “Surround Sound” — soar to viral acclaim with its own TikTok challenge and ended the year in the #1 position across Billboard Viral 50, TikTok Viral and TikTok 50. The song featuring Atlanta natives 21 Savage and Baby Tate re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 charts and is certified 3x Platinum. A highly anticipated live performer, J.I.D has sold out venues across the globe and played some of the biggest festival stages including Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Splendour in The Grass and more. J.I.D’s nimble, head-nodding lyricism and lightning fast flow has awarded him a loyal and cult-like fanbase and his dedication to perfecting the art is sportsman-like, leaving room for him to be one of rap’s greatest in the making.

Davido Releases “Offa Me” Video Featuring Victoria Monét

0

4x Grammy-nominated afrobeats icon Davido releases the official music video for “Offa Me”, his sultry new single featuring Grammy-winning R&B sensation Victoria Monet. Directed by celebrated visual artist KLVDR, the video follows the arrival of Davido’s highly anticipated fifth studio album 5IVE.

“Offa Me” is a genre-blending standout that captures the essence of Davido’s boundary-pushing sound. Produced by Haitian hitmaker Michael Brun, the track fuses Afrobeats, soul, and R&B into a hypnotic rhythm, driven by Monet’s silk-smooth vocals and Davido’s signature charisma. The video, shot in Los Angeles, brings the track’s sensual energy to life with a sun-soaked, cinematic storyline and a vibrant choreographed performance by both artists.

Speaking on the video Davido shared “Creating the video for Offa Me was just as effortless as making the song. The energy on set was crazy in the best way. KLVDR really brought the vibe to life, and working with Victoria was magic. You can feel the chemistry, the groove, the soul – it’s fun, it’s vibrant, I know everyone will love it as much as we do”

“Offa Me” is one of the most talked-about tracks on 5IVE, a 17-track sonic journey that sees Davido stretch his sound further than ever before. Featuring a star-studded lineup – Omah Lay, Becky G, Odumodublvck, Musa Keys, Shenseea, and more, 5IVE explores themes of love, evolution, and cultural fusion. From dancefloor-ready bangers to introspective slow burns, the album reflects the global reach and versatility of one of music’s most influential artists.

Following a massive year that included a Grammy nomination for “Sensational,” and sold-out stops on his Timeless tour, Davido launched an intimate five-city stop underplay this month. Shows kicked off in Los Angeles, where he was joined by Victoria Monet for a special live performance of “Offa Me” giving fans a first taste of the track.

With 5IVE, Davido proves once again why he’s called “The King of Afrobeats” – blending cultures, breaking barriers, and bringing people together through music. The release of “Offa Me” and its stunning visual is yet another reminder of his status as a true global icon.

Antone’s Announces 50th Anniversary 4-LP Box Set Featuring Jimmie Vaughan, Lucius, Sue Foley, Gary Clark Jr. & More

0

Antone’s – Austin’s legendary “Home Of The Blues” – has announced a four-LP, 41-track box set celebrating its 50th anniversary, packed with the rich history and enduring spirit of a club that “helped put the live music capital of the world on the map” (Austin American Statesman). Set for release on August 22 via New West Records, Antone’s: 50 Years of the Blues, chronicles the development of Antone’s and its trailblazing music across three full-length albums (each capturing a unique element of the club’s history) and a special bonus 45. The set also features a meticulously updated hardcover edition of Picture the Blues from Susan Antone (the sister and close collaborator of legendary late Antone’s founder Clifford Antone) with rare and unseen photographs, and a new definitive Antone’s history written by revered Texas music historian Joe Nick Patoski with fresh interviews.

Out today are two advance tracks from the set’s opening double LP, “The Last Real Texas Blues Album,” which includes 18 songs of new material from artists integral to the history of Antone’s (Jimmie Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Charlie Sexton, Ruthie Foster, Doyle Bramhall II, Bobby Rush, Derek O’Brien, C.J. Chenier + Muddy Waters’ guitarist John Primer and son Big Bill Morganfield) as well as its next generation leaders (Kam Franklin, Eve Monsees, McKinley James and more). Kam Franklin pays homage to a true Texas trailblazer with her interpretation of Barbara Lynn’s “You’ll Lose A Good Thing,” and Antone’s staple Doyle Brahhall II honors the great Eddie Taylor (who reunited with his musical partner Jimmy Reed for the first time in many years at Antone’s in 1976) with “Bad Boy.” Listen to “You’ll Lose A Good Thing” and “Bad Boy” here: http://newwst.com/goodthing and Pre-order Antone’s: 50 Years of the Blues here: http://newwst.com/antones50

The second album, Tell Me One More Time, is a collection of long-lost cuts from Antone’s Records, the club’s in-house label and perhaps the leading promoter of female-fronted blues (Lou Ann Barton, Angela Strehli, Lavelle White, Sue Foley, Barbara Lynn) in record business history. Tell Me One More Time also features never-heard archival commentary from Clifford, about many of the artists and songs within. Album number three, We Went Live In ‘75, features rare live recordings from throughout the club’s history, ranging from Buddy Guy and Otis Rush to a 20-year-old unsigned Gary Clark Jr. Also included is a bonus tri-color 45 of Los Lobos covering Howlin’ Wolf, a nod to Clifford – who rescued the band when they were stranded in Texas back in the mid-80s, helping them fund their way back to LA with a week of support slots at the club.

Antone’s: 50 Years of the Blues, is part of a major year-long celebration of Antone’s, including a special Austin City Limits taping for the club’s anniversary, ACL & Antone’s Celebrate the Blues, taking place on April 28 at ACL Live at The Moody Theater. The lineup, just-announced yesterday, includes Jimmie Vaughan, Sue Foley, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Charlie Sexton, Big Bill Morganfield, Lil’ Ed Williams, Grace Bowers, Bobby Rush and Lurrie Bell. These blues all-stars will be backed by an incredible 14-piece house band, featuring legendary players including ACL Hall of Famer Chris Layton, Steve Bell, Joe Sublett and more – all under the musical direction of Antone’s own Zach Ernst. This one-of-a-kind taping swaps Antone’s intimate setting for ACL’s familiar skyline backdrop and offers an all-star line-up of blues giants and torchbearers taking the famed ACL stage; the broadcast episode will air this fall as part of the PBS series’ upcoming Season 51. ACL will live stream the taping on YouTube (youtube.com/austincitylimitstv), beginning promptly at 8pm CT and will only be available live.

The Antone’s Allstars will also be taking over New York’s Lincoln Center on June 29 for a one-of-a-kind extravaganza, centered around the rich history of Texas blues and soul – on one of the world’s most prestigious stages. Many of the performers from the ACL taping will appear at Lincoln Center (including Jimmie Vaughan, Kam Franklin, John Primer, Lurrie Bell, and Lil’ Ed Williams), but other iconic Antone’s artists like C.J. Chenier and Jivin’ Gene will join in for this special show too. Most recently, Antone’s hosted an all-day 50th anniversary celebration during SXSW, which was praised by Rolling Stone for “pointing the way towards the future of the blues.”

Founded by Clifford Antone as the first live music venue on Austin’s now-famous Sixth Street, Antone’s quickly became ‘home away from home’ for a Mount Rushmore of blues musicians including Muddy Waters, Albert King, Otis Rush, Willie Dixon and B.B. King – as well as a broader tapestry of American roots music. The force behind this all was Antone, a native of Texas’ Gulf Coast region who spent much of his youth roadtripping through the juke joints of nearby Louisiana, where he developed a deep love of Creole music, R&B, zydeco and, above all, the blues. In the venue’s five decade run, Antone’s has continued to define the present and shape the future of blues music, bolstering the careers of internationally-renowned artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Doug Sahm, Charlie Sexton, Angela Strehli, Lou Ann Barton and many more. Today, it remains a vital presence in the live music scene, with its influence carried forward by a new generation of trailblazing artists including Gary Clark Jr., Kam Franklin, Jackie Venson and McKinley James.

“Dark Star Orchestra and Grateful Guitars Foundation have joined forces several times over the years, including at last year’s Jubilee and celebrating the 40th of 7/13/84 at the Greek in Berkeley,” said Andy Logan, founder of Grateful Guitars. “We are so thrilled to partner with DSO for the first time in New York City and cannot wait to celebrate this music with all the fans at the gorgeous Pier 17. We are eternally grateful to DSO for partnering with us to make this a benefit for GGF, so that we can bring music education to future players and gift instruments to ensure jam music lasts in perpetuity.”

Elvis Costello Extends “Radio Soul!: The Early Songs of Elvis Costello” Tour With 22 New Dates

0

Elvis Costello has extended his “Radio Soul!: The Early Songs of Elvis Costello” tour with 22 new East Coast and Midwest dates starting September 18th in Bethlehem, PA and running through October 22nd in Omaha, NE.

As previously announced, the first leg of the “Radio Soul!: The Early Songs of Elvis Costello” tour, performed by Elvis Costello & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton, spans June 12th in Seattle, WA through Miami Beach, FL on July 12th,

As the playful billing suggests, the show will feature numbers drawn from record releases from “My Aim Is True” in 1977 to “Blood & Chocolate” in 1986, along with other surprises.

Those nine years saw the first appearance of some of Elvis Costello’s most renowned compositions from “Watching The Detectives” to “I Want You”, along with songs that have remained in The Imposters’ live repertoire over the last 20 or more years, including “Alison,” “Man Out Of Time” and “Brilliant Mistake.”

Asked about the surprising theme of this tour, Costello responded:

“For any songwriter, it has to be a compliment if people want to hear songs written up to fifty years ago. Among them, “Radio Soul,” the first draft of what eventually became “Radio Radio.”

Regarding the decision to sharpen the focus on a specific period of time, Costello reminded us:

“You can expect the unexpected and the faithful in equal measure. Don’t forget this show is “Performed by Elvis Costello & The Imposters”, an ensemble which includes three people who first recorded this music and two more who bring something entirely new. They are nobody’s tribute band.

The Imposters are a living, breathing, swooning, kicking and screaming rock and roll band who can turn their hands to a pretty ballad when the opportunity arises.”

Costello concluded:

“If there is an encore and we play, “Farewell, OK”, it probably means some of those “Early Songs” will have been performed in your city for the very last time. I don’t want to go back, I want to bring these songs into the present day, once more, in the event they are ever pushed out of the way by the next number that I write.

You could say time is running out but only time will tell.

Don’t be late, the band hits at eight.”

This tour follows the fall 2024 release of “King Of America & Other Realms” – a 6-CD anthology that tells the story of that 1986 album and the music to which it led. The “King Of America” songs are expected to be heard in the mid-show interlude, along with songs written as long ago as 1975 and even some of those “pretty ballads” that Costello has promised.

The Royal Flush Tour 2025 continues. Following their electrifying performances earlier this  year in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Vancouver, Edmonton, Boston and New York City’s Radio City Music Hall HEART announces an additional run of dates as the tour continues. This highly anticipated next leg will see the band embark on August 8 at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, WA and continue through August 30 at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, NY. The tour rolls on with appearances scheduled in Bakersfield, Akron, Kansas City as well as a performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado.

With a legendary career spanning five plus decades, HEART has cemented their place in music history, selling over 35 million albums worldwide and delivering 20 electrifying Top 40 singles, while racking up a well-deserved array of accolades and awards including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honor and a Lifetime Achievement Grammy. HEART continues to ignite the stage, performing their beloved, iconic and chart-dominating anthems—including “Magic Man,” “Barracuda,” “Crazy on You,” and “These Dreams.”

The current members of HEART feature Ann Wilson (lead vocals and flute), Nancy Wilson (rhythm lead and acoustic guitar, mandolin, mandola, autoharp, blues harp, backing and lead vocals) Ryan Wariner (lead and rhythm guitar), Ryan Waters (lead and rhythm guitar), Paul Moak (lead and rhythm guitar, keyboards, mandolin, banjo and backing vocals), Tony Lucido (bass and backing vocals) and Sean Lane (drums and bike).

Ann Wilson said, “The music we are making at this moment has timeless teeth, muscle, bone and hair, also poetry, soul and emotion.  I’m very proud to be a part of it all and I will give all of myself to it as long as we both shall live. It’s magic!”

Nancy Wilson shared, “I’m super proud of how this band is crafting the ongoing tour. The show continues expanding with elements ranging from kick ass rock to acoustic campfire jams. We love celebrating and sharing the electric energy of a 100% live on the spot real rock show.”

HEART will be joined by special guests, including Todd Rundgren on select North American dates.
