Durand Jones and The Indications Announce Fall Tour and Release New Single ā€œFlower Moonā€

0

Durand Jones & The Indications — the trio of Durand Jones, Aaron Frazer, and Blake Rhein — announce a fall North American tour and release ā€œFlower Moon,ā€ the second single/video from their forthcoming album, Flowers out June 27th on Dead Oceans. On the heels of a successful European headline run which included shows supporting Lenny Kravitz, the band’s expansive tour includes some of their largest shows yet, with stops in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Toronto, and more. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 25th at 10am local time. A full list of dates is below.

Following lead single ā€œBeen So Long,ā€ praised by Rated R&B as a ā€œpetal-soft tune [that] rides with the smoothness of an early ’70s soul jam,ā€ ā€œFlower Moonā€ guides listeners to an end-of-night dancefloor with Frazer’s trademark falsetto on full display. Reflecting on the track, Jones says: ā€œIt felt right to release ā€˜Flower Moon’ with this record. Spring is here and the flowers are blooming everywhere. We really wanted to catch that essence of the song and bring it to life for the listener. Also the Flower Moon is happening in a few weeks, so everything just seemed aligned to bring this song to our fans. It’s a feel-good tune to enjoy with friends or a loved one.ā€ The song’s accompanying video was directed by Alec Basse.

On Flowers, The Indications’ fourth album and first since 2021’s ā€œdisco and funk infusedā€ (Billboard) Private Space, the group leaned into a particular desire to return to their roots in a Bloomington basement, a space where they first found camaraderie in gritty funk and Southern soul that would inspire their self-titled debut. Just as they did on that 2016 release, The Indications prioritized close-knit collaboration while creating Flowers. Much of the self-produced album was written together at Rhein’s Chicago home studio, and many tracks are based on one-take demos — proof that vibes were particularly high, each member pulling from their refined tool kits with ease.

Reflecting a strong sense of the band’s maturation and conviction, the 11 songs that make up Flowers are grown and sexy, fit for cruising, and delight in the softer side of soul and disco. ā€œAll of these songs touch on such mature topics, things that we never got to sing about before,ā€ says Jones. ā€œWe are all in our 30s, have all been through ups and downs in our personal lives and professional lives, and flowers are a sign of maturity, growth, spring, productivity.ā€ Frazer adds: ā€œWe took the spirit of play that started the project, and added in the wisdom and lessons we’ve acquired through the years.ā€

Goldie Unleashes Rufige Kru Single ā€œGoldikusā€ Ahead Of New Album ā€˜Alpha Omega’

0

Rufige Kru – Goldie’s alter ego withĀ SubMotive – have released brand new single Ā ā€œGoldikus,ā€ out now via London Records.

Taken from forthcoming albumĀ Alpha Omega, the track features guest vocals from revered UK music legendĀ Cleveland WatkissĀ MBE, sampled from a recording of Goldie’s 1993 set at legendary London club,Ā The Blue Note.

Speaking about the new track,Ā GoldieĀ says:Ā ā€œGoing back through some of the cassettes — as I do — going back to the caveats of what those DATs were about… I thought, ā€œSome of these cassettes look pretty good.ā€ I remember hearing Cleveland on a session I was DJing at — at the Blue Note — I heard the crowd and Cleveland says : ā€œMake some noise for the Goldikus!ā€ I thought, wouldn’t it be great to sample yourself? I love what [New album] ā€˜Alpha Omega’ does — it’s like one of those Nolan movies, where it just keeps coming back on itself.

The rawness of Goldikus — having Cleveland’s voice sampled off a cassette tape with me DJing at Blue Note, having a little bit of the crowd in the background, a real, rootsy b-line, and a real simple, effective, classic break that has been repurposed and replayed with Betts and Blease. Betts particularly smashed this one, and I love that.

If the music can do anything, I think my purpose is for it to feel nostalgic and take you back to that moment. A lot of the older heads who’ve heard Goldikus before have said, ā€œMan, it takes me back to Blue Note.ā€ Well… that’s job done. That’s what it’s supposed to do.ā€

ā€œGoldikusā€ gives a taste of what’s to come on his forthcomingĀ Rufige KruĀ album: an unfiltered, underground roller with breaks and a bassline that are made for the dance floor.

New albumĀ Alpha OmegaĀ consists of twelve groundbreaking new tracks which bring togetherĀ Goldie’s unerring dancefloor suss and the impeccable technical prowess ofĀ SubMotiveĀ (real name James Davidson). It is Rufige Kru’s deepest outing so far – a reminder of exactly why drum and bass remains the most exhilarating, groundbreaking and electrifying music on the planet.

The album will also includeĀ ā€œStill The Same,ā€ the single produced collaboratively by Goldie and SubMotiveĀ which features a guest appearance from the peerless grime MC and UK rap artistĀ CASISDEAD, after years of requests by his fans to rap over a DnB track. In fact, it is rare for CASISDEAD to feature on tracks with other artists – such is the significance of this collaboration and it is his first new material since his critically acclaimed 2023 album ā€˜Famous Last Words’ and being awarded Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act at the 2024 BRIT Awards.

Of the new album,Ā GoldieĀ says:Ā ā€œIt’s a reinvention. We’ve gone back to the source and extrapolated from there. I wanted to create something that absolutely represents what this music is all about … and where it’s going next.ā€

Goldie will be on tour throughout the year, including two dates at London’s Ronnie Scott’s and another show at Village Underground in April. Then in May, Goldie will feature as Artist in Residence at Detroit’s Movement Festival 2025, before bringing his live show to UK festivals this summer. See a full list of Goldie’s live dates below.

One of the most revered names in breakbeat science,Ā Rufige KruĀ rewired the dancefloor for the first time back in 1992 with the hardcore classic, ā€œDarkrider.ā€ Back then, Goldie’s musical partner was hip hop fanaticĀ Linford Jones.Ā ā€œHe had a fantastic record collection,ā€Ā remembersĀ Goldie.Ā ā€œI had a field day going through his records and pulling out breaks.ā€Ā EngineerĀ Mark Rutherford—who also worked withĀ Peter GabrielĀ andĀ Mark McLaren—was another early collaborator. The partnership yielded pivotal hardcore moments like ā€œGhosts Of My Lifeā€ and ā€œTerminatorā€ (still considered one of the key moments in the evolution of drum’n’bass).

It’s a testament to the alchemy itself, that no matter whoĀ GoldieĀ has worked with—or taken under his wing—theĀ Rufige sound remains consistently forward-thinking and innovative. Though Goldie’s groundbreaking debut album,Ā TimelessĀ and its 1998 follow-upĀ Saturnz ReturnĀ broke through into mainstream success, he continued the sonic explorations ofĀ Rufige KruĀ with two had found a new music partner, Heist/Strider main manĀ Jim Muir.

And then, of course, there was the first all-time drum’n’bass classic of the new millennium:Ā Rufige Kru’s 2001 masterpiece ā€œBeachdrifta.ā€ Recorded withĀ Danny Goldstein, it was a record that—like ā€œGhostsā€ or ā€œTerminatorā€ before it—just turned everything upside down. So much so that, in 2017, when Goldie played two memorable nights at Ronnie Scott’s, the live rendition transformed the venerable jazz club into a 4am rave.Ā ā€œSometimes you catch lightning in a bottle,ā€Ā recalls Goldie.Ā ā€œThat was one of those times.ā€

Now he’s done it again with the new record. Turning drum’n’bass inside out, reframing the breakbeat, setting the agenda all over again. ā€œI’ve travelled with James (SubMotive) through every angle of this game and now he’s a formidable partner in the Rufige Kru echelon…boss levelz.ā€

ā€œI’ve gone back to my roots,ā€Ā concludesĀ Goldie.Ā ā€œThat’s a beautiful thing for me. I’ve spent a lot of time honing my craft, developing these concepts, assembling all these moments. But that sense of possibility –what kept me going in the early days—is still there. I’m still as excited by this music and where it can go as I was all those years ago. The only limit is my imagination.ā€

Julien Baker & TORRES Release Debut Album ā€˜Send A Prayer My Way’

0

This Friday, April 18,Ā two of music’s most iconic young songwriters Julien Baker (boygenius) & TORRESĀ will release their highly anticipated debut collaborative album,Ā Send a Prayer My Way, via Matador Records.Ā Send A Prayer My WayĀ has been taking shape since Baker and TORRES shared a stage for the first time in 2016. After the show, one turned to the other and said, ā€œYou know, we should make a country album.ā€ That offhand comment became the spark—a kind of origin myth—for a collaboration rooted in mutual respect and a shared commitment to honest, elegant songwriting. Both artists are known for laying bare their struggles in ways that resonate deeply with fans, and this album is no exception. Like the most enduring country records,Ā Send A Prayer My WayĀ offers both solace and strength, a reminder that none of us are ever truly alone—and that music can be one of life’s most loyal companions.

Ahead ofĀ Send A Prayer My Way, the duo today officially released ā€œBottom of a Bottleā€ which embodies the duo’s love of 90s country and Americana with fiddles, parlor piano, steel guitars and a soaring chorus. Baker and TORRESĀ debuted the song with a performance onĀ The Daily Show.Ā StereogumĀ took note saying, ā€œJust like the early singles ā€˜Sylvia’ and ā€˜Tuesday’ this one has Torres on lead vocals, with Baker hitting some killer harmonies throughout…they sounded amazing. The classic-country style agrees with them.ā€

Julien Baker & TORRES have already released four critically acclaimed singles fromĀ Send a Prayer My Way. Songs ā€œDirt,ā€ ā€œSylviaā€ and ā€œTuesdayā€ have showcased their shared love of country music while highlighting their distinct songwriting styles and interpretations of the genre. Previous to that they debuted ā€œSugar in the Tankā€ onĀ The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon— the song was #2 most-added track and a top ten single at AAA radio.

Baker & TORRES will embark on their ā€œSend A Prayer My Wayā€ U.S. tour with headline dates kicking off April 23 in Richmond, VA and concluding in Omaha, NE on May 12. Additionally they are also playing previously announced festival dates – all shows are listed below.

Metallica Action Figures Signed by the Band? Yes, Please.

0

ack in 2001, McFarlane Toys released something heavy enough to rattle your collectible shelf — the Metallica Series 1: Harvester of Sorrow action figures. Featuring detailed, snarling miniatures of James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Jason Newsted, these weren’t just plastic renditions. These were battle-hardened, stage-destroying icons immortalized in six inches of pure metal glory.

Now, over 20 years later, the band is pulling them out of the vault for something even more powerful than a blistering solo — giving back. For their second #MonthOfGiving2025 auction, Metallica is offering the full original 2001 set, each one signed by the band member it represents, with verified hologram stickers and a shared certificate of authenticity.

It’s not just a chance to own a rare piece of Metallica history. It’s a chance to make a difference. All proceeds go to the Metallica Scholars Initiative Special Projects Fund, part of the band’s Month of Giving campaign — which supports education and career training for the next generation of skilled workers.

So yeah, this isn’t just ā€œsome cool merch.ā€ This is four legends. Four signatures. Two decades of history. One chance to do something epic.

The auction ends Friday, May 30 at 12 PM PT. Hit the link, make a bid, and support a cause that rocks: metallica.lnk.to/MoG-Auction2

Because nothing says ā€œheavy metal heartā€ like helping others while scoring a signed Jason Newsted.

Beauty School Dropout Launch Bold New Era With ā€œOn Your Lipsā€

0

L.A. rock band Beauty School Dropout officially embark on a bold new chapter with the release of “On Your Lips.” The boundary-pushing song offers their ever-growing fanbase a first taste of the band’s new musical direction.

“This song is our first big leap into a sound we’ve never harnessed before. It’s experimental, rhythmic, heavy and fun all at the same time. For us it means maturing into our sound and showing we’re not the same kids we were when we started this project 5 years ago. For the fans it’s meant to be a track they put on at parties, late night drives, and all the cinematic moments you wish you had a score for in life.”

Beauty School Dropout have also released a striking new music video for “ON YOUR LIPS”. This summer, they will hit the road as part of both the Idobi Radio Summer School tour as well as Warped Tour stops in Washington D.C., Long Beach, and Orlando, and more.

“On Your Lips” arrives as the rock band- comprised of Colie Hutzler, Beepus, and Bardo – continues to ascend. Beauty School Dropout’s debut and sophomore albums, We Made Plans And God Laughed and Ready To Eat, have amassed over 60 million streams globally and more than five million views on YouTube to date, receiving praise from major outlets like Billboard, Alternative Press, SPIN, NME, Grammy.com, Kerrang, Rock Sound, and many others.

Since their explosive debut in 2022, they have been disrupting the scene with a riotous blend of rebellion, freedom, and unapologetic self-expression. Their music challenges the status quo, celebrates individuality, and channels the frustrations and desires of a generation.

The Dandy Warhols Drop Remix EP ā€˜Rock Remaker’ Featuring Night Club, TrentemĆøller, Jagz Kooner, and More

0

As The Dandy Warhols mark a major milestone in their storied career-the 30th anniversary of their debut album DANDYS RULE OK-they continue to evolve and experiment with ROCK REMAKER, an EP of hard-hitting, floor-shaking remixes from their acclaimed 2024 album ROCKMAKER.

At the heart of the release is the focus track, “The Cross (Night Club Remix),” a searing reinvention by the acclaimed electronic duo Night Club that drags the original deep into a gritty goth-club underworld. With throbbing synths and industrial undercurrents, Night Club transform the song into a midnight banger that’s fit for a face-off between Joy Division and Front 242. “It’s the kind of remix that punches a hole in the dancefloor,” says guitarist/keyboardist Peter G. Holmstrom. “Night Club totally captured the tension and menace of the original and made it even more intense.”

Joining Night Club on the remix roster are a who’s who of forward-thinking artists: Andy Bell of U.K. shoegaze pioneers Ride (aka GLOK) reimagines “Alcohol And Cocainemarijuananicotine” into a mesmerizing mantra of synth minimalism; acclaimed Danish indie/electronic mastermind TrentemĆøller transforms “Teutonic Wine” into a slinky midnight groove; and celebrated U.K. producer, remixer and member of Sabres of Paradise Jagz Kooner injects new energy into “Root Of All Evil,” adding deep funk, courtesy of Melvin Brannon (Dan Reed Network). A previously released standout remix of “I Will Never Stop Loving You (feat. Debbie Harry)” by NYC’s spacerock crafters A Place To Bury Strangers delivers a wall of sonic chaos, placing Harry’s iconic vocals in a haze of reverb and grit.

The release of ROCK REMAKER arrives as The Dandy Warhols are in the thick of their East Coast tour, stops that included iconic venues like The Stone Pony in Asbury Park and Daryl’s House in Pawling, NY. This weekend, the band plays an unprecedented four dates in New York City. These performances bring the band’s reinvigorated sound to life, riding high on the acclaim of ROCKMAKER, which featured guest appearances by Slash, Frank Black, and Debbie Harry. With fans packing into sold-out rooms, the band has begun weaving deeper cuts from DANDYS RULE OK into the setlists-an intentional nod to the LP’s recent 30th birthday.

Tennis Release Farewell EP ā€˜Neutral Poetry’ Featuring Unheard Early Demos

0

After releasing their final studio album in April, Face Down In The Garden, acclaimed indie-pop duo Tennis share their last release. Neutral Poetry: First Recordings, Unreleased Demos 2009-2010 is a new EP of previously unheard tracks from the very beginning of their artistic career.

The eight-song collection perfectly bookends their time as a band, bringing it all back to where it first began. The EP includes early versions of such fan favorites as “Cape Dory,” “Marathon,” “South Carolina,” “Baltimore,” and “Pigeon,” along with exclusive demo recordings of the never-before-available songs, “Key Largo,” “April and It’s Still Snowing,” and “One Day This Will Be a Good Songgg” –Ā stream it here.

Tennis announced the news of their indefinite hiatus mid-April with the release of the single “12 Blown Tires” ahead of Face Down In The Garden. Met with an outpouring of love over the bittersweet news, the duo’s Alaina Moore shed additional light on the duo’s decision:

“When we recorded ’12 Blown Tires’, I had the sense of distilling the past 15 years into four minutes of music. It felt like the end of something, though I wasn’t sure what. Patrick and I spent most of our 20s and all of our 30s focused on Tennis. It has been the most joyous, bewildering, challenging, and humbling experience. After finishing Face Down In The Garden, it became clear that we had said everything we wanted to say and achieved everything we wanted to achieve with our band. This will be our last studio album, at least in this configuration as Tennis. We are ready to pursue other creative projects and to make space in our lives for new things. In that light, the upcoming tour feels more poignant, like a concluding thought. These two kids from Denver who only ever dreamed of playing a few house shows are very fulfilled. Perhaps we’ll see you on the road. As always, thank you.”

Tennis will both celebrate this moment in time and say farewell to fans with a wide-ranging North American headline tour beginning tonight at Las Vegas, NV’s Swan Dive and then traveling into early September. Throughout the tour, they will be supported by an array of talent including Husbands, Billie Marten, Cults, Real Estate and Hovvdy. Along the way, they will also make festival stops at Kilby Block Party and Bumbershoot before heading to London for a show at the O2 Forum Kentish Town on October 23.

The Lemonheads Return With ā€œDeep Endā€ And ā€œSad Cinderellaā€ Ahead Of New Album

0

The Lemonheads are back today with “Deep End” b/w “Sad Cinderella,” available now via Fire Records. The double-sided single heralds the impending arrival of Love Chant, the iconic band’s first album of all-new original material in almost two decades, due out in the Fall.

“Deep End” is joined by an official music video, filmed on location in Sao Paulo, Brazil, by directors Carlao Busato and Luigi Parisi, streaming now on YouTube. A limited-edition 12″ vinyl version of the single will be released on June 13.

Recorded at Sao Paulo’s A9 Audio with producer Apollo Nove (Rita Lee, Bebel Gilberto, Seu Jorge), “Deep End” and “Sad Cinderella” offer undeniable evidence of Evan Dando and The Lemonheads’ still monumental gifts, twin slices of timeless songcraft heralding the welcome return of a justifiably legendary rock ‘n’ roll band. Co-written by Dando with longtime collaborator Tom Morgan of Smudge, the churning, riff-powered “Deep End” features instantly identifiable solo guitar from Dinosaur Jr’s J Mascis and backing vocals from dear friend and frequent Lemonheads guest Juliana Hatfield. Meanwhile, “Sad Cinderella” sees The Lemonheads putting their singular stamp on a tender cover of Townes Van Zandt’s romantic tearjerker, with Dando sharing beautifully brittle duet vocals alongside acclaimed Nashville folk pop singer-songwriter Erin Rae.

“It’s never been so painless making a video,” says Dando. “Everyone working was really great. The endless sidewalk goes really well with the song.”

The Lemonheads will mark their long-awaited reemergence with a wide-ranging world tour, beginning this month with a series of headline shows in Dando’s beloved Australia and New Zealand, celebrating the recent 30th anniversaries of the immortal albums, It’s A Shame About Ray and Come On Feel The Lemonheads. Additional headline shows and top-billed festival appearances across the UK and Europe get underway in August, with North American dates to be announced soon.

President Unleash Debut Single ā€œIn The Name Of The Fatherā€ With Dark Proclamation

0

President have revealed single, “In The Name Of The Father,” the debut proclamation – a raw meditation on existential fear and the inevitability of death, referencing the “King of Terrors.” Dark, unflinching, and deeply cathartic, it’s the first glimpse into a world PRESIDENT are only beginning to reveal.

“Something has been stirring. A growing noise, a ripple through the republic of the underground. We called. You listened. Your curiosity, your questions, your conversation… We have witnessed it all. Here, we make our first proclamation. ‘In The Name Of The Father’ This is the first crack in the surface. This is your PRESIDENT. We’ll be seeing you soon. Godspeed.”

Operating at the intersection of heavy music, electronic experimentation, and cinematic atmosphere, PRESIDENT doesn’t conform to the traditional structures of genre or identity. Prioritizing intent over image and shifting the spotlight away from those who have created this movement, firmly onto the music itself.

Seth MacFarlane Releases ā€œGive Me The Simple Lifeā€ From Upcoming Album ā€˜Lush Life’

0

5x GRAMMY-nominated vocalist and Academy Award-nominated writer, actor, director, and producer, Seth MacFarlane returns with a new song, “Give Me The Simple Life,” off his upcoming studio album Lush Life: The Lost Sinatra Arrangements, out June 6th via Verve Records / Republic Records.

“Give Me The Simple Life” features an original arrangement by Nelson Riddle with music by Rube Bloom and lyrics by Harry Ruby. The song follows MacFarlane’s previous track, “Lush Life,” released last month to critical praise from the likes of Billboard, Variety, American Songwriter, NME, and more.

Lush Life: The Lost Sinatra Arrangements is a one-of-a-kind album that includes twelve never-before-heard arrangements originally created for Frank Sinatra by his legendary collaborators Riddle, Billy May, and Don Costa. Written for some of Sinatra’s most classic and celebrated albums, these historic arrangements remained in the private collection of the Sinatra family, unheard – until now. All together, the twelve tracks on Lush Life: The Lost Sinatra Arrangements are much more than a tribute to Frank Sinatra – they are a time capsule of rich musical history, opened for the first time, of undiscovered American treasures, in which MacFarlane’s warm, expressive vocals breathe new life into these carefully preserved arrangements.

In collaboration with the Sinatra family and estate, MacFarlane acquired the entire Sinatra music archive in 2018, and has brought these twelve remarkable arrangements to life with a 70-piece orchestra, featuring world-renowned musicians from Los Angeles and London, conducted by acclaimed British conductor John Wilson, and produced by MacFarlane’s longtime musical collaborator Joel McNeely. Every song on the album was recorded as a live performance with this ensemble at George Lucas’ famed Skywalker Sound Studios in Marin County, California.

Lush Life: The Lost Sinatra Arrangements is MacFarlane’s ninth studio album. His critically acclaimed albums In Full Swing [2018], No One Ever Tells You [2016], and Music Is Better Than Words [2012] all received GRAMMY Award nominations for “Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album”. Throughout his illustrious career across music, television, film, and comedy, MacFarlane is recognized for his passion and dedication to preserving orchestral music in modern entertainment and bringing classic sounds to modern audiences.

In July, MacFarlane and his orchestra will unveil some never-before-heard arrangements from Lush Life: The Lost Sinatra Arrangements for an unforgettable weekend at Voltaire at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas on Thursday, July 3rd, Friday, July 4th and Saturday, July 5th on sale now. Next year, he’ll also bring the album to the stage with a live performance at Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall on February 17th, 2026, on sale now.
