Alt Rock Firestarters thistle. Ink Deal With REX RECS and Unleash Killer New Track ‘tied’

0

Alt-rock risers thistle. sign to REX RECS (ugly ozo) & share new single ‘tied’, out today.

Partnering with the new indie label founded by producer, writer and musician Macks Faulkron, of REX Studio, ‘tied’ marks the band’s first material since the release of acclaimed debut EP ‘it’s nice to see you, stranger’ in July. Having firmly established themselves as one of the most promising and bold voices in the UK alternative scene, thistle.’s hard-hitting songs explore themes of isolation, the trials of adulthood and ennui.

Drawing acclaim throughout the press landscape on both sides of the Atlantic (Stereogum, Dork, Clash, The Line Of Best Fit, Rolling Stone UK, So Young), as well as countless spins on the BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and Radio X airwaves from the likes of Steve Lamacq, Deb Grant and Nathan Shepherd, the trio’s lo-fi, introspective yet hardcore sound is gaining considerable fanfare in all areas.

Primed to support Humour on their November UK tour, the group’s raw energy and DIY ethos have seen them lay waste to stages across the UK and Europe, with dates ticked off alongside acts including Westside Cowboy, Upchuck, Witch Post, Cryogeyser and Man/Woman/Chainsaw. The three-piece are also set to announce further 2026 live shows and festival appearances imminently.

Detailing their new track, the group revealed: “’tied’ is a tribute to the emotional hardcore bands that we grew up on. The lyrics explore the relentless grind of 9-5 work. It flips between optimism and a feeling of defeat… something we’re always looking for in our music”.

ArtikFest Unveils Full Lineup: Get Ready for Two Nights of Winter Fire in Trois-Rivières

0

ArtikFest is raising the bar for its 4th edition. After announcing two major international headliners, Lost Frequencies and Zomboy, the festival is now unveiling its full outdoor lineup, taking place February 20 and 21, 2026 along Trois-Rivières’ riverfront. Ten additional artists join the bill: Wodd, Usaybflow, Monsieur PY, Future Exit, Tom Dūno, Marta, Kat2Kat, Froufrou, Mholy, and TRHM.

In just a few short years, ArtikFest has become one of Québec’s must-attend winter events. With its distinctive spirit, top-tier programming, affordable access, bold artistic identity, and strong creative vision, the festival transforms downtown Trois-Rivières into a vibrant hub of music, art, and celebration. Each year, it attracts an ever-growing audience during a season that is usually quieter for tourism, drawing visitors not only from across Québec but from all other Canadian provinces as well. This year, ArtikFest aims to deliver its most ambitious and unforgettable edition yet, offering an even more spectacular experience that celebrates the magic and energy of winter in Québec.

Staying true to its mission of celebrating the full spectrum of electronic music, ArtikFest will once again present two complementary nights, each with its distinct identity yet welcoming to all audiences. Friday will set the riverfront alight with high-energy bass and dubstep, delivering an intense and electrifying experience. Saturday will shift into a brighter, melodic, and festive electro-pop atmosphere, perfect for a massive outdoor celebration under the stars. Both evenings are designed to appeal to everyone: curious newcomers eager to explore electronic music, families looking for a unique winter outing, and devoted fans who follow the scene closely. It’s an open invitation to bundle up, come together, and warm up by dancing all weekend long.

The weekend will kick off with a thunderous performance from Zomboy, one of dubstep’s most influential producers. With more than 750 million streams, iconic tracks such as Terror Squad and Like A Bitch, and explosive shows at legendary venues including EDC Las Vegas and London’s Ministry of Sound, the British artist has cemented his status as a defining force in the genre. After a three-year absence from Québec, Zomboy makes his highly anticipated return, marking his first-ever performance in Trois-Rivières as he headlines ArtikFest on Friday night.

Before Zomboy takes the stage, the audience will be treated to an exclusive B2B set from two rising stars of the Canadian bass scene: Wodd and Usaybflow. Blending hybrid riddim, retro-futuristic energy, and unpredictable drops, this one-time-only collaboration will make its debut at ArtikFest.

The night will also feature Future Exit, one of the most promising young bass producers on the scene, known for his futuristic sound, catchy melodies, and performances he describes as immersive “live experiments.” Opening the evening are two electrifying Québec talents: Kat2Kat, known for her signature blend of funky wobble and dubstep, and Mholy, whose raw energy and intense stage presence make her return especially anticipated.

London punk trio Dream Nails unleash a fierce new anthem with “House Of Bones,” the first single from their upcoming third album ‘You Wish,’ set for release February 6, 2026 via Marshall Records. Recorded with Ali Chant and shaped by the band’s signature mix of power and play, the track is a hard-hitting statement of self-possession and inner strength. “This song is about finding strength within yourself – and safety in your own body,” says drummer Lucy Katz. Guitarist Anya Pearson adds, “House of Bones is saying: Haters will hate, but we keep going, no matter what.” Inspired in part by Nova Twins’ “Bassline Bitch,” the track carries a raw edge with a bold groove and a video featuring Dream Nails’ real-life jiu jitsu fighter friends.

Following the single, Dream Nails will celebrate with a UK in-store tour and full run of intimate live shows that stretch from Southampton to Norwich. The album sees Mimi Jasson stepping up as lead vocalist for the first time, with the trio embracing new ways of writing, recording, and thinking as a unit. “At the end of the day, we’re just three people with three acoustic instruments doing everything we can to make a massive sound,” says Anya. ‘You Wish’ captures a band in full transformation—still riotous, still righteous, but more expansive and elemental than ever.
