Jenna DeVries Unleashes Heartbreak Anthem “Someone’s Gotta Give” With Raw Power And ’90s Flair

0

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Jenna DeVries releases highly-anticipated new single “Someone’s Gotta Give.” The single is out now on all digital streaming platforms. The single debuted on All New Country on Spotify, and New in Country on Apple Music.

Jenna DeVries doesn’t just nod to the ’90s country legends – she channels their passion. “Someone’s Gotta Give” is a steel-toed heartbreak anthem that could sit alongside the greats like Trisha Yearwood or Shania Twain, but it’s undeniably DeVries’s own storm to sing through.

With lines like, “Our therapist is choosing sides / I’m not sure it’s yours or mine / We’re two wrongs without a right,” DeVries sets the tone: this isn’t a breakup ballad; it’s a battlefield confessional. Her voice is equal parts velvet and venom, holding space for those brutal moments of realization in a fractured relationship. She twists the knife with poetic sharpness: “Part poet and masochist / Waging war on a pacifist / Ironic isn’t it, right?” – and just when you think she might pull back, she doubles down with a pre-chorus that speaks to all the lessons we thought we learned: “I thought I’d live and learn / But what do I know?”

The production, helmed by Don Miggs (known for work with Dolly Parton, Mick Fleetwood, and more), wraps DeVries’ raw vocals in a warm, rootsy glow that lets every word hit with weight. It’s the kind of track that feels like both a throwback and a breakthrough – a barroom ballad built for blasting in your car with tears in your eyes and fire in your soul. “Someone’s Gotta Give” is DeVries at her boldest yet – proof that country’s future is safe in the hands of women who aren’t afraid to write what hurts.

Kris Delmhorst Announces Final Leg Of ‘Ghosts In The Garden’ Tour With Northeast Dates This May

0

Kris Delmhorst is heading back out on tour in support of her highly praised new album, Ghosts in the Garden. Dates begin May 1 in Galway, NY, continue through Maine, Vermont, DC, Brooklyn and wrap up with hometown shows in Northampton and Groton, MA.

This is the final leg of a three-part release tour which started in the Midwest in early March and was followed by a West Coast run, with a couple of solo dates in Canada supporting Rose Cousins along the way.

As with the rest of the tour, the Northeast dates will feature the band from the recording of Ghosts: Minnesotan songwriter/producer Erik Koskinen on guitar, Jeremy Moses Curtis (Booker T, Jeffrey Foucault) on bass and Ray Rizzo (Josh Ritter, Anaïs Mitchell, Amy Helm) on drums. Erik Koskinen will play an opening set in Galway, Bennington, and Waterbury. Jeffrey Foucault, one of several guest singers on the album as well as Delmhorst’s husband, shares the show in Brownfield, ME. Acclaimed Canadian songwriter Rose Cousins, who also provides guest vocals on Ghosts, opens the final four shows and Brooklyn’s own Ana Egge, yet another guest on the album, will also join the bill in Brooklyn.

Ghosts in the Garden marks the first release for Delmhorst since 2020’s Long Day in the Milky Way. The tours for that project were sidelined by the pandemic, so it’s been since 2017’s The Wild that she’s been able to properly launch a new album. “I felt a little nervous bringing this record on the road – it’s a collection of songs that deal intimately with grief, loss, and irrevocable change, and I wasn’t sure how it would be received,” she says. “What I’d hoped for in sharing it live was a sense of connection, a communal deep dive into emotion and vulnerability, and it’s felt like that night after night on this tour. It feels like a really useful antidote to this time of turmoil and distress, just to be in a room full of people willing to soften together, willing to share their humanity.”

Released on March 7th, Ghosts in the Garden, Delmhorst’s 10th album, has received raves from the likes of No Depression, “Delmhorst has created yet another Americana masterpiece”, American Songwriter, “It would be hard to imagine a more compelling set of songs” and Americana Highways “… a grand seduction of a record by an artist who has always been true to her heart and has perfected the art of digging deep to deliver spirited, nourishing compositions with lyrics which do far more than rhyme.”

Kris Delmhors Tour Dates:
5/1 GALWAY NY – COCK ‘N’ BULL
5/2 BROWNFIELD ME – STONE MT ARTS CENTER (w Jeffrey Foucault)
5/3 BENNINGTON VT – THE COFFEE BAR
5/4 WATERBURY VT – ZENBARN
5/7 VIENNA VA – JAMMIN JAVA (w Rose Cousins)
5/8 BROOKLYN NY – LITTLEFIELD (w Rose Cousins AND Ana Egge)

Jade Bird Announces New Album ‘Who Wants To Talk About Love,’ Shares Bold Single “Dreams”

0

Following the success of her return single ‘Who Wants’ last month, Jade Bird is back today with details of a new album alongside single ‘Dreams’. Who Wants To Talk About Love, Jade’s third studio album, will be released via Glassnote Records on July 18th.

‘Dreams’- the only track on the album produced by Grammy-winning heavyweight Greg Kurstin – arrives with bold, widescreen energy, heightening the emotion and offering a fitting entry point into a project rooted in reckoning and release. The rest of the album was shaped by a carefully chosen group of collaborators, including executive producer Andrew Wells (Phoebe Bridgers, Teddy Swims), with additional contributions from Andrew Sarlo and Teddy Geiger, each bringing their own nuance to Jade’s evolving sound.

‘Dreams’ as Jade explains is a “very dark song. I saw a billboard driving to the studio after a bit of a nasty breakdown. I’d gone to sleep at five am the night before and read ‘this is what dreams are made of’. Combined with the LA sun I felt a deep irony. It’s about feeling too broken to be with the person you love. Pushing them away because of generational habits and (I don’t like the word) trauma.”

For UK born and bred, and now LA-based, Jade Bird, Who Wants To Talk About Love is a cathartic reckoning of historical experience – an expulsion of complex thoughts and feelings buried deep in Jade’s psyche for years. It’s a moment in time where facing her truth, her fears and her reality in this world became unavoidable. Self-induced therapy through song that journeys through love, loss and forgiveness resulting in a new sense of self and freedom from family entanglement.

“I wrote this album while trying to make sense of the broken relationships in my family- my parents, both sets of grandparents – and the way they echoed into my own life when my engagement ended. It’s as much a question as an answer, wondering if I could break the cycle while finding my own path to forgiveness- not just from my dad, but for myself.” – Jade Bird

A singer-songwriter with a natural flair for blending genres, Jade has enjoyed an explorative musical journey across almost a decade as a solo artist. Having signed to Glassnote Records whilst still in her teens, Jade’s worldly approach to her music evolved over time as she increasingly became impossible to pigeonhole with each release; indie, folk, rock, pop, soul, country, Americana- she could do it all and she would – but on her own terms

Pry Announce Debut Album ‘Wrapped in Plastic’ With New Single “Heaven” And NYC Release Show

0

NYC-based band Pry, the project of Simeon Beardsley and Amara Bush, is excited to announce their debut album, Wrapped in Plastic, arriving next month on May 29, 2025.

Off the heels of their last single, “Tether You,” they are revealing the daydream-inducing track, “Heaven.” Today’s release starts slow and melodic, with rhythmic synthesizers, slow yet booming percussion, and soft harmonies. Comprised of powerful guitar licks, the track takes a turn halfway through with upbeat yet delicate instrumentation that builds up to a bombastic breakdown of chaos as they sing, “Feels like heaven to me.”

“This is the first song we rehearsed with a live band. It is a favorite part of the album for its simplicity, structure, and juxtaposition to the other tracks, and even to itself, from beginning to end,” say Pry. “The lyrics are reflective of living in a routine that feels like it necessitates yet simultaneously limits your access to ‘escape’ in any meaningful way. So we take what we can get.”

Comprised of Simeon Beardsley and Amara Bush, Pry officially began releasing music in 2023 with “Don’t You Want To See.” They returned with “Tether You” last month, a shoegaze-infused power-rock driven track about longing for something before, during, and after it happens. The single caught the attention of Pitchfork and made its way onto the iconic Pitchfork Selects playlist shortly after its release. Pry has been hard at work on Wrapped in Plastic, creating a body of work that is sonically driven by soft and powerful vocals, hardcore guitar licks, and clean, jangly tones that evoke a nostalgic, vintage feel with a distorted and gritty energy.

Pry is also excited to announce that they will celebrate the release of Wrapped in Plastic with a special album release show with fellow NYC-based bands Cal Fish and Crate at Night Club 101 on May 31, 2025.

Sea Fever Drop Italo-Manc Anthem “Go To Ground” Ahead Of Album ‘Surface Sound,’ Out May 30

0

Sea Fever sing an up-front and high-octane dancefloor anthem for those cast out and lost for belief with the release of their latest single, Go To Ground.

Picking up the breadcrumb trail left by pioneers of electronic music past, not least Giorgio Moroder, the tight-knit five-piece foundry of new ideas in sound release the single as the latest, anticipation-superheating hint of what lies in store on their upcoming, second album, Surface Sound, released on Fri 30 May 2025 on Cosmic Glue.

Having introduced themselves to 2025 with the frosted and cracked winter splendour of Loose Cut at the turn of the year, quickly followed up with bold album opener, Breaking Out, in February, Sea Fever’s declared sense of refreshed cohesion and self-assurance has already seen them outjump the artistic leaps evident on their acclaimed debut, 2021’s Folding Lines. Putting another piece of the puzzle gently into place with the ‘leak’ of the cut-glass-guitars-by-weighty-beats anthem, Shouldn’t Have Been This Way, every minute of the band’s collective, main stage experience is revealed.

Applying equal importance to studio and stage, the band’s select list live appearances, complete with a wash of bespoke visuals, grows with confirmation of Kendal Calling in their summer calendar. Three, intimate acoustic instore appearances are also confirmed, in addition to a special hometown album launch show at The Yard in Manchester on Fri 30 May 2025.

While bassist, Tom Chapman, also a member of New Order, names Go To Ground as the band’s “Italo-Manc disco track… an electronic funky experiment of syncopated beats and anthemic chorus”, the lyrical context reveals sensitivities to be found within the welcome sense of bombastic, wired abandon.

“‘Go To Ground’ is an upbeat, no-nonsense song about ambition and change,” says singer, guitarist and lyricist, Iwan Gronow. “People can be held back by the system, dulled down and told to stay in their place and this is our call to climb out of the box that people put us in. Positive thinking brought me to Manchester in the first place, grew my self-belief and I’ve always tried to follow this doctrine. Feelings of being lost change to being more certain about who you are and where you are going.”

Released on multiple formats, including vinyl, CD and digital, Surface Sound was written and recorded in studios in Greater Manchester and Cheshire, self-produced by Sea Fever with support from long-term collaborator and Pet Shop Boys’ musical director, Pete Gleadall. Special vinyl editions of Surface Sound will be packaged with a bonus 7″ featuring Explanation, Sea Fever’s collaborative track with the late, much-missed Primal Scream and Electronic singer, Denise Johnson.

Taking every intricate, vintage synth-borne melody and danceable beat out to carefully chosen venues, all upcoming Sea Fever live appearances are confirmed as follows:
Fri 30 May – Manchester, The Yard – Special Album Launch Show
Sat 31 May – Halifax, Loafers
Tue 1 July – Liverpool, Jacaranda
Wed 2 July – Bury, Wax and Beans
Sat 2 August – Kendal, Kendal Calling
Tue 5 August – Kingston, Banquet Records
