Corporate Video Production vs. Commercial Production in the USA: Know the Differences

0

By Mitch Rice

Not all videos are created for the same purpose.

Corporate video builds trust from the inside out. Commercial videos grab attention and sell big. Knowing the difference between these two can save you time, money, and a whole lot of guesswork.

Corporate Video Production vs. Commercial Video Production: At a Glance

Feature Corporate Video Commercial Video
Audience Employees, clients, stakeholders General public, potential customers
Purpose Inform, train, engage Promote, advertise, sell
Style & Tone Professional, clear, factual Creative, catchy, persuasive
Budget Lower to mid-range Mid to high-range
Distribution Internal channels Public platforms

Let’s solve your dilemma about choosing between commercial and corporate content

What is Corporate Video Production?

Corporate video production is more for business people. It includes employees. The purpose of the ideo content is for businesses to use internally. They do target external communication, but not for advertising to the general public.

Key Features:

  • Focused on informing, training, or engaging employees, stakeholders, or clients
  • Usually not promotional or salesy in tone
  • Helps build a stronger internal company culture or brand identity

Common Types of Corporate Videos:

Training videos
  • For onboarding new employees, explaining procedures, or upskilling teams
Internal communication videos
  • Like messages from leadership, policy updates, or internal announcements
Company culture videos
  • Showcase your workplace environment, values, and employee experiences
Client or employee testimonials
  • Real people sharing real experiences. Great for building trust
Event or conference recaps
  • Document and share the highlights with teams or clients

What is Commercial Video Production?

Commercial video production is salesy videos. Basically, it will promote products, services, or brands. These videos target only mass audiences. The goal here is to drive sales or brand awareness.

Brand Commercial: Aceso

Key Features:

  • Sales-driven and persuasive in tone
  • Usually high-energy and short-form
  • Distributed across multiple platforms
  • Shows on TV, YouTube, social media, etc.

Common Formats of Commercial Videos:

TV commercials
  • Traditional but still powerful, especially for a broad reach
YouTube ads
  • Skippable or non-skippable ads. Ideal for digital-first campaigns
Social media ads
  • Quick, catchy, and often tailored to the platform (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok)
Product demos or explainer ads
  • Showcase how a product works and why it matters.

Key Differences Between Corporate and Commercial Video Production

The main difference between corporate and commercial video production is all about what they’re really for. They target different audiences, have different goals, and their purposes are not the same.

To understand it all, here are the key differences between Corporate and Commercial Video Production.

  • Audience and Purpose

Corporate Video

  • Audience: Internal teams, stakeholders, existing clients, job seekers
  • Purpose: Educate, inform, train, or build internal culture
  • Example: A CEO’s message to employees, an onboarding video, or an HR policy update

Commercial Video

  • Audience: General public, potential customers, target market
  • Purpose: Promote a product or service, build brand awareness, and drive sales
  • Example: A catchy YouTube ad for a new app or a TV spot for a shampoo brand
  • Production Style and Tone

Corporate Video

  • Style: Professional, informative, sometimes documentary-style
  • Tone: Calm, transparent, trustworthy, and often more formal
  • Often features employees, office settings, and real scenarios

Commercial Video

  • Style: High-energy, creative, visually engaging
  • Tone: Persuasive, emotional, or entertaining, depending on the brand voice
  • Often includes actors, scripted scenes, and visual effects
  • Budget and Distribution Channels

Corporate Video

  • Budget: Usually lower to mid-range (depends on scale and complexity)
  • Distribution: Internal platforms (intranet, emails), websites, training portals, or presentations

Commercial Video

  • Budget: Can be high, especially for TV and digital campaigns
  • Distribution: Public platforms like TV, YouTube, social media, or OTT apps

Corporate Video Production vs. Commercial Production: Which One Do You Need?

Still confused? Here are the things that will help you to decide.

When to Choose Corporate Video Production

Go for this when your goal is to communicate within your organization or with existing clients. Not for sale to the public.

Use it if you want to:

  • Train or onboard new employees
  • Explain complex company policies or workflows
  • Share company updates from leadership
  • Build internal brand culture
  • Document an internal event or achievement

Industry-Specific Examples:

  • Tech: Create a product training video for internal developers or IT teams
  • Healthcare: Film a safety protocol training video for hospital staff
  • Real Estate: Produce an internal sales strategy presentation or team motivational video.

When Commercial Video Production is Ideal

Choose this when you’re looking to promote a product, service, or your brand to the public. It’s about visibility, appeal, and conversion.

Use it if you want to:

  • Launch a new product or service
  • Run an ad campaign on TV or social media
  • Reach new customers and expand market presence
  • Drive traffic to your website or physical store

Industry-Specific Examples:

  • Tech: Promote a new mobile app through a YouTube ad campaign
  • Healthcare: Advertise a new wellness program or telehealth service on local TV
  • Real Estate: Run a Facebook ad showcasing a luxury apartment launch.

We Are Scientists Announce New Album ‘Qualifying Miles,’ Share Fog-Drenched Lead Single “Please Don’t Say It”

0

We Are Scientists return with news of their highly-anticipated ninth studio album Qualifying Miles via Groenland Records. Nearing twenty years on from their commercial breakthrough, the NYC band – comprising founding members Keith Murray and Chris Cain – are still constantly reinventing themselves. But with this new record comes a return to the music that shaped their childhoods, with echoes of ’90s guitar music threading throughout the project. With their trademark danceable, razor-sharp hooks and witty lyricism, Qualifying Miles is the sound of a band revisiting their roots while interrogating the distance they have traveled.

Alongside the album announcement, the band are sharing lead single, “Please Don’t Say It.” With its anthemic, infectious hook and a splash of melodrama, it captures the wry charm and emotional punch that have long defined the band’s enduring appeal.

On the track, Keith says: “I’m always happy to spew all kinds of drama in song, just don’t make me talk about it in person, okay? “Please Don’t Say It” is, I guess, a song about being unwilling to confront my glitches anywhere but in that very song. Except, now I’m talking here about using the song to not talk about it. Weird.”

The track comes alongside an irreverent and whimsical video, on which Keith offers: “You know what we haven’t explored enough in our many years of video media creation? Fog. We’ve run rampant through city streets (‘Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt’), rode horses across Irish bogs (‘Chick Lit’), and had our eyes speared by nail guns (‘Dumb Luck’). Somehow, though, the cinematographers of those videos never had the wherewithal to exploit the sex appeal of a good fog machine. Sure, yeah, we’ve had loads of haze (‘Your Heart Is A Weapon’). Hell yes, we’ve deployed light steam (‘Rules Don’t Stop’). But it took our many accrued years of cinematographic education to finally nail the fog layers sensual enough to convey the steamy carnality of this, the most sensually befogged song of We Are Scientists’ career. Please, now: get lost in the murk of ‘Please Don’t Say It’.”

Hollywood Undead Drop Explosive “Hollywood Forever” Remix Featuring Funny Man, Lefty Gunplay & N8NOFACE

0

Hollywood Undead unleash a brand new take on their hit single “Hollywood Forever” today with an electrifying remix from founding member Funny Man featuring Lefty Gunplay and N8NOFACE with an accompanying video created by LA based artist and animator MikeMeds.

The “Hollywood Forever (Funny Man Remix)” is a gritty, genre-blending rework of the fan-favorite anthem-an unmistakable tribute to Los Angeles, the city firmly rooted in the DNA of all three artists. The track seamlessly blends explosive rap verses that trade off between Funny Man’s laid-back swagger, Lefty Gunplay’s raw charisma, and N8NOFACE’s signature punk-meets-rap delivery, building in intensity before culminating in the original track’s epic chorus.

Speaking on his remix of “Hollywood Forever”, Hollywood Undead’s Funny Man shares, “For the first time in Hollywood Undead history we have 3 Mexicans on one track with the homies Lefty Gunplay, N8NOFACE, and myself Big Funny Man who are all holding it down for LA and will continue to do so. Thanks to those legends for helping to show love and gratitude to the Undead fans.”

N8NOFACE comments, “Soon as I heard the track and idea I wanted to rock it. Perfect genre killer joint and blends of styles,”

With Lefty Gunplay adding, “THIS ONE RIGHT HERE IS FOR THE CULTURE. 2025 JAY Z VS LINKIN PARK!”

Originally released in October 2024 via Sumerian Records, “Hollywood Forever” has racked up over 19.5 million cross-platform streams, peaked at #18 at Active Rock radio (currently holding at #20), and generated over 35.6k Shazams. The track is a testament (both lyrically and statistically) to the uniquely powerful bond Hollywood Undead share with their fans and the phenomenal staying power of a band who have been releasing albums since 2008.

The remix lands as Hollywood Undead continue their monumental Hollywood & N9ne Return Tour, co-headlining with Tech N9ne and performing to thousands each night alongside special guests Set It Off and Zero 9:36. The current leg marks their long-awaited return to Canadian stages for the first time in nearly a decade. The band will also be performing at major US festivals Sonic Temple, Welcome To Rockville, Louder Than Life and Aftershock.

“Spirit in the Sky” Soars Again: Dolby Atmos Single and Vinyl Reissue Celebrate Norman Greenbaum’s Enduring Legacy

0

For more than half a century, Norman Greenbaum’s 1969 anthem “Spirit in the Sky” has captivated listeners of all generations with its euphoric energy and bold, genre-bending sound. Now, Craft Recordings celebrates the song’s era-defying legacy with two special releases: a brand-new Dolby Atmos mix of the single available to stream/download today, and a vinyl reissue of Greenbaum’s kaleidoscopic debut album, Spirit in the Sky, arriving June 13.

Long out-of-print, Greenbaum’s 1969 debut returns to vinyl in a replica tip-on jacket with lacquers cut from the original tapes (AAA) by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. Anchored by its beloved, iconic title track, “Spirit in the Sky,” the album fuses rock, gospel, and psychedelia, featuring hidden gems like “Marcy,” “Tars Of India” and “Skyline” that highlight Greenbaum’s distinctive songwriting style. Meanwhile, the Dolby Atmos single gives fans an opportunity to experience “Spirit in the Sky” in transcendent spatial audio. Click here to pre-order and stream now.

Fueled by one of the most unforgettable guitar hooks in music history, the single “Spirit in the Sky” premiered in December 1969 and soon reached the No. 1 spot on charts across the globe, including the U.S., Australia, Canada, Ireland, the U.K., and Germany. Eventually selling over two million copies worldwide, the gold-certified track marked a major commercial and creative breakthrough for Greenbaum, fusing elements of rock & roll, gospel, pop, and psychedelia with a daring originality way ahead of its time.

A Massachusetts native who got his start performing in Boston coffeehouses, Greenbaum launched his career with the formation of Dr. West’s Medicine Show and Junk Band — a short-lived, Los Angeles-based psychedelic jug band whose 1966 single “The Eggplant That Ate Chicago” reached No. 52 on the Billboard Hot 100. Soon after the band’s dissolution, Greenbaum played a gig at The Troubadour in West Hollywood and caught the attention of producer Erik Jacobsen (known for his work on The Lovin’ Spoonful’s hit singles “Do You Believe in Magic,” “You Didn’t Have to Be So Nice,” and more). With Jacobsen at the helm as producer, Greenbaum soon set to work on Spirit in the Sky.

As he revealed in a 2020 interview with Rolling Stone, Greenbaum borrowed the title to “Spirit in the Sky” from a greeting card. After watching an episode of The Porter Wagoner Show, he composed the song’s lyrics in just 15 minutes, mining inspiration from Wagoner’s performance of a country gospel tune titled “Pastor’s Absent on Vacation.” Although conceived as a folk song, “Spirit in the Sky” took on an entirely new life in the studio, thanks in part to Greenbaum’s use of a Fender Telecaster with a fuzz box built directly into the guitar’s body. To accentuate the song’s gospel roots, Greenbaum and Jacobsen enlisted a Kentucky-born gospel trio called The Stovall Sisters, whose stratospheric harmonies provide a glorious counterpart to the track’s pulsating rhythms and fuzzed-out guitar tones.

Released via Reprise Records, “Spirit in the Sky” was initially met with apprehension from the label, due to its potentially controversial religious references as well as its unconventional length (the track clocks in at just over four minutes, at a time when pop hits averaged two minutes and 30 seconds). Despite that resistance, the song emerged as a global smash and gave Greenbaum his first hit on the Top 40 charts, where it held strong for 14 weeks.

A largely undiscovered gem released in October 1969, Spirit in the Sky shows the tremendous depth and scope of Greenbaum’s musicality, opening on the horn-driven R&B-funk of “Junior Cadillac” and closing out with the spacey psych-pop of “Marcy” (a sublimely loopy number hailed as a “great lost album track” by legendary rock critic Robert Christgau in a glowing review of the LP). Encompassing everything from groove-heavy country-rock to soul-soothing AM pop, the 10-song powerhouse ultimately serves as an alluring first entry in an eclectic solo catalog that also includes 1970’s Back Home Again and 1972’s Petaluma.

Since “Spirit in the Sky” first stormed its way up the charts, the song has made an indelible mark on pop culture and appeared in countless ads, TV shows, and films (including The Simpsons, Guardians of the Galaxy, Apollo 13, Wayne’s World 2, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Ocean’s Eleven, Miami Blues, Remember the Titans, and Suicide Squad, to name just a few). The song has been sampled by artists including pop-punk pioneers Fall Out Boy (“I Don’t Care”), and covered by Elton John, Bauhaus, Gareth Gates, William Shatner, Doctor and the Medics, and more. Additionally, “Spirit in the Sky” is among a rare group of songs to have topped the UK Singles Chart three times, each with a different version: first in 1970 with Greenbaum’s original recording, then in 1986 via Doctor and the Medics, and in 2003 thanks to Pop Idol’s Gareth Gates—underscoring the song’s status as a perennial favorite spanning generations and genres. Praised as “proto-glam” by music historian Simon Reynolds and widely recognized for its sonic ingenuity, “Spirit in the Sky” also appears on Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” list.

Norman Greenbaum reflects, “I’m humbled and deeply grateful that “Spirit in the Sky” continues to connect with people. It means so much that people have taken the song to heart, and I’m excited to see its journey continue.”

Kula Shaker Release “Charge of The Light Brigade” And Announce Reunion Tour

0

KULA SHAKER’s irrepressible return continues apace as the original line-up announce the release of a brand new single “Charge of The Light Brigade” on Strangefolk Records.

Packed with allusions to spiritual vampires and the fairy cavalcade of Celtic folklore, this three-minute musical trip is the first of a number of new tracks the band have recorded for their upcoming eighth studio album (title to be announced) and heralds their March/April shows in the U.K., where they will be riding out with Ocean Colour Scene as very special guests on their 2025 tour.

The tour, with extra dates added due to huge demand, kicked off on March 27th in Leeds, UK and runs until May 4th in Newcastle, will see the bands playing 24 dates across the country including two dates at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on April 4th and May 1st and two dates in Glasgow on the 15th and 16th of April. U.S. dates to be announced shortly!

With their seventh and latest album Natural Magick (2024) released across the world and topping the Independent Album Charts in the UK (“The best album of their career” – Shindig!), and having completed successful tours of North America, Asia, the UK and Europe last year, Kula Shaker are well and truly back in the saddle, galloping at speed, in a startling return to form.

The band’s sound feels more amplified than ever with the return of Hammond organ wizard Jay Darlington after a decade with Oasis and various Gallaghers, reuniting all four members of the band’s classic line-up (Crispian Mills: guitar/vocals; Jay Darlington: Hammond organ; Alonza Bevan: bass; Paul Winter-Hart: drums) for the first time since 1999’s Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts.

Delivering that renewed wild energy we know and love, Natural Magick proved to be a mesmeric 13-track incantation incorporating blazing psychedelic sermons, raga rave-ups, stardust-coated pop pearls and mood-enhancing mantras. A technicolor sonic pathway towards a more enlightened state of mind, this was Kula Shaker casting their most powerful spell yet.

Named after a ninth-century mystic, Kula Shaker first carried their freak flag of spiritual sonics to the top during the heady days of Britpop, first with their debut hit “Grateful When You’re Dead” / “Jerry Was There,” followed by top five songs like “Hush” and “Tattva” (a pop song written in Sanskrit) before releasing the legendary “Govinda.” The band became UK album chart-toppers with 1996’s imperious multi-platinum selling debut album K and the follow-up Peasants Pigs & Astronauts saw them push the creative envelope further, prior to their premature dissolution.

Having formed their own label Strangefolk in 2007, Kula Shaker have slowly but surely returned to their sonic summit, with a prolific surge of writing, which began in 2023 with 1st Congregational Church Of Eternal Love And Free Hugs, followed by their acclaimed Natural Magick in 2024.

Sounding the charge for 2025, this new song continues the ever-evolving Kula Shaker legend, which has both entertained and inspired listeners for decades, and 2025, and sees the band advance once again as “Charge of The Light Brigade” trailers the release of a new studio album.

25 years on from the debut album K, Kula Shaker have proved they are still one of the most exciting and ecstatic bands around, an unstoppable tour de force, with kinetic energy cursing through every second of their “electric” live shows.

The band will be releasing new music and embarking on international tours, headlining venues and festivals throughout 2025.
