Elle Belle, the indie rock band led by award-winning composer and songwriter Christopher Pappas, is excited to announce the release of their latest single, “Train to Kyoto,” available now on all digital platforms through Little Record Company.

On the track, Christopher Pappas shares, “‘Train to Kyoto’ is a nearly lyric-less song I wrote while on, well, a train to Kyoto. I recorded a scratch vocal that started with the only lyric I had at the time: ‘I took the train to Kyoto and I never woke up.’ I improvised the rest of the vocals, intending it to be a placeholder until I could record the ‘real’ vocals. But as I listened back, I found the performance, and the way it interacted with the vocal effects, compelling. So, I kept it as is, despite it being mostly lyric-less. The outro features Jack Lawless on drums and my friends 2BAD (Chrissy Polcino, Ra’id Al-Amin).”

“Train to Kyoto” follows Elle Belle’s recent singles, “Me, Timbers” and “Mozart Was Buried in a Pauper’s Grave,” which was released last month.

Pappas explains, “There’s no easy way to explain this song without sounding like a self-righteous a-hole, so apologies in advance. Or maybe you’ll relate? Do you ever feel like you’re at the party at the end of the world, putting coasters under drinks? Do you think ‘separating the art from the artist’ is a morally bankrupt philosophy that led to a trash TV star becoming president? If so, my apologies-you’re stuck talking to me at the party. Rock and roll legend John Fogerty will perform at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy on Sunday, August 3, 2025, as part of that community’s year-long celebration of its 400th anniversary. The concert is among a series of special events throughout the year celebrating 400 years of Quincy’s history. 400 years of history, diversity, culture, people and ideas that have shaped America. A lot has happened to Neil Hannon since the last Divine Comedy studio album, 2019’s ‘Office Politics’. Their entire back catalogue was lovingly remastered and re-released in 2020, while a sensational best of, ‘Charmed Life’, came out in 2022 accompanied by a suitably wonderful UK and European tour. More recently, Neil Hannon wrote all the original songs for the global blockbuster ‘Wonka.’

This September sees the release of the 13th and possibly best Divine Comedy album, ‘Rainy Sunday Afternoon’. Recorded at Abbey Road, the album is written, arranged and produced by Neil Hannon. The 2025 festival performers include John Gorka, SONiA disappear fear, Solas, Elijah Wald, David Jacobs-Strain and Bob Beach, American Patchwork Quartet, Jesse Terry, John Flynn, Kuf Knotz & Christine Elise, Brittany Ann Tranbaugh, Vanessa Collier, The April Fools: David Buskin, Robin Batteau, Christine Lavin, John Forster, and Carla Ulbrich, and Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley. More performers will be announced this spring.

The Philadelphia Folk Festival fosters music discovery in a safe and family friendly setting with camping, food trucks, a variety of vendors and activities for all ages. Educational workshops and Dulcimer Grove (specifically designed for the youngest attendees of the festival) will offer enrichment and more enjoyment of the weekend.

Local author Elijah Wald will offer a presentation on his book, Dylan Goes Electric! Newport, Seeger, Dylan, and the Night that Split the Sixties, the source material for the Timothee Chalamet film, A Complete Unknown, and will be performing lesser-known Dylan songs from that era. He is also the author of The Mayor of MacDougal Street, which the Cohen Brothers used to create Inside Llewyn Davis.

“Since the Dylan film is attracting attention to that period, I have recently begun touring a concert program of songs and stories from his early period in Greenwich Village,” says Wald. “I’ll be performing some early Dylan songs, both obscure and familiar, alongside songs he learned and adapted from people like Dave Van Ronk, Eric Von Schmidt, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Paul Clayton, and Jean Ritchie. I knew most of those people, played with some of them, and give a sense of Dylan’s world before he hit the big time.”

On August 1, 2025, in partnership with Rising Sun Presents, the Philadelphia Folksong Society will preview the 62nd Philadelphia Folk Festival with an evening at Bryn Mawr Twilight Concert Series featuring performances from Larry Ahearn, Lili Anel, Cloudbelly, and Max Davey.  All four performers are scheduled to play at this year’s festival and the event will offer a sneak peek of what to expect later this summer.

The Philadelphia Folk Festival’s legacy includes a multi-generational audience who make returning to the farm each summer an annual event. Longtime gate volunteer Julie Leinhauser says, I have been coming to Fest since I was three months old, and my family has been involved for decades — my main gate family and my campsite family, who are truly my closest friends and a part of my family. My dad hasn’t missed a festival in the last 50 years. During the dark pandemic days my fest family and friends from the Folk Fest became even more like family. We celebrated, laughed, and cried together. We kept each other going. I am so grateful for the people and good times this festival has brought into my life.”

The sixth annual Evolutions Festival returns September 5, 6 & 7 with an exciting line up and a new home at Sugar Mountain Performing Arts Center. The northeast festival enters its next iteration with an expanded footprint, elevated production, and a lineup of large-scale international acts; the same intimate, community-rooted energy that defines the music and art event’s soul will be met with this year’s headliners Alison Wonderland, Of The Trees, and another major act soon to be announced. This year’s experience will also bring in other major talent such as Inzo, Flowdan, and Zingara alongside many more. This offers the fans a rare chance to see big-name talent in an intentionally smaller, more personal setting.
