Irish Collective How I Became A Wave Releases Delicate New Single ‘05:00’

0

The highly compelling Irish musical project How I Became A Wave, led by Cork songwriter Pat Carey and featuring a collective of Ireland’s finest musicians, has released a brand new single, “05:00” (pronounced “five A.M.”). This beautifully delicate winter track is inspired by the Eavan Boland poetry collection Night Feed and sees the group exploring more minimal, luminous textures. At its heart is piano composed by frequent RTÉ Concert Orchestra conductor Cormac McCarthy and performed by Rory McCarthy, set alongside a delicate yet bold string accompaniment from cellist Laura McFadden that perfectly complements Kealan Kenny’s pedal steel. Carey’s fragile vocal performance echoes the song’s vulnerability, allowing himself space to be beautifully understated in a truly remarkable range.

Carey revealed the inspiration behind the track, stating, “This song was originally inspired by Eavan Boland’s poetry collection ‘Night Feed’. I’ve always been interested in exploring how small, seemingly meaningless moments, can be interpreted as being a kind of portal to something greater, something universal.” He describes that time of night as a “liminal space, a period of magic – a kind of thinning of the veil – where beauty can dwell in the most ordinary of spaces.” Recent live shows at Cork’s Sounds From A Safe Harbour and Dublin’s National Concert Hall have completely captivated audiences, and strong support slots with heavyweight contemporaries such as Villagers, Lisa Hannigan, and Gemma Hayes have solidified the artist as an important emerging voice in Irish music. The single follows acclaimed tracks “Fading Out” and “Cycles,” confirming the project’s defining mix of tenderness, emotion, and quiet strength.

Trace Adkins Sings The Holiday Blues On New Original Single “One More Christmas”

0

Trace Adkins has gifted country fans a powerful new holiday ballad, releasing his all-new original song “One More Christmas” via Caliburn Records. The bittersweet country track arrives just as the multi-platinum entertainer prepares to take the stage on NBC’s holiday special, Christmas in Nashville, airing on Wednesday, December 3rd, at 10 pm ET/PT. Co-written by Adkins, Derek George, and Monty Criswell, “One More Christmas” marks a significant shift from the mischievous, fun-loving mood of his previous original holiday hit, “Naughty List.” This time around, the Louisiana legend perfectly captures the unique way loss hits harder during the holiday season, delivering a slow-burning heartbreak song with truly timeless emotional power.

Produced by George, the song instantly captivates, opening on a velvety saxophone melody before Adkins gently takes in the holiday cheer all around him. The harmony-tinged track features a soul-soothing backdrop of tender guitar lines, lush piano work, and softly chiming sleigh bells, turning wistful as the chorus reveals his one and only Christmas wish: “One more / Chance to say I love you too / Yeah, one more / Night to hold what I’m missing.” Although the second verse stirs up an aching nostalgia by referencing spinning Nat King Cole records, Adkins’ instantly recognizable, warm baritone ultimately provides a powerful emotional balm that is sure to ease the pain of anyone who is missing someone dearly this season.

For his highly anticipated appearance on Christmas in Nashville, Adkins will perform the beloved original “Naughty List” and the all-time holiday classic “White Christmas.” Hosted by three-time Grammy winner Trisha Yearwood and filmed before a live audience at Category 10 in Nashville, the two-hour special will also feature incredible performances from The War and Treaty, Bill Murray & His Blood Brothers, Lauren Alaina, and Ne-Yo. In addition to airing on NBC, Christmas in Nashville will be available to stream on Peacock beginning the following day, ensuring fans have multiple opportunities to enjoy the spectacular show. This release rounds out another action-packed year for Adkins, following his recently wrapped ‘What Color’s Your Wild Tour’ and a successful run on Blake Shelton’s Friends & Heroes Tour earlier this year.

Fishbone Unveil Hard-Hitting Video For Single “All About Us”

0

Veteran genre disruptors Fishbone unveil the new video for “All About Us”, the latest visual from their critically acclaimed album Stockholm Syndrome.

With “All About Us,” Fishbone sharpens their focus on the ongoing struggle between economic justice and unchecked privilege—proving once again that their voice, their vision, and their fight are as vital as ever.

Anchored by archival footage from the 1934 Hal Roach Our Gang episode “Hi Neighbor!”, the video draws a bold parallel between Depression-era socioeconomic inequality and the still-escalating divide between today’s wealthy elite and America’s working class. In the clip, the neighborhood kids portrayed as poor or working-class are pitted against an affluent child determined to outshine them, creating a comedic yet pointed contrast between the haves and the have-nots. Nearly a century later, the themes remain painfully familiar.

“‘All About Us’ tells the story of negating the single idea and considering the one idea. Anything but your individual idea. A sociopathic/narcissistic perspective,” says Angelo Moore.  The video underscores the message: when people stand together, they are powerful, and the struggle against economic and social imbalances are far from new.

Stockholm Syndrome, Fishbone’s first full-length LP in over 20 years, arrived June 27, 2025, delivering the band’s most urgent and politically charged work since their early years, proving that Fishbone remains an unstoppable force. The lineup has reinvigorated the band’s fire, purpose, and defiant creativity.  The band is comprised of Angelo Moore (vocals, saxophone, theremin), Christopher Dowd (vocals, trombone, keys), James Jones (bass), Hassan Hurd (drums), John “JS” Williams II (trumpet, vocals), and Tracey “Spacey T” Singleton on guitar.

Fresh from the Summer Circus Tour with Less Than Jake and Suicide Machine, with stops at Van’s Warped Tour DC and Long Beach CA, Fishbone continue to build on a legacy defined by resilience, boundary-breaking, and radical honesty and industry praise for Stockholm Syndrome reflects the band’s renewed potency, “Still partying, but even more pissed off… music that can still make a difference.” — Spin. “Poised, poignant, perfect for the times… bands like Fishbone have always been needed, and now perhaps they are needed more than ever.” — The Big Takeover. “Tackling fascism, racism, industry exploitation, and emotional turmoil—with love at the center.” — Punk News

With the holidays upon us, skip the big companies hiking prices and give a gift that truly matters. Support independent artists by choosing music and band merchandise instead. Shop at the Fishbone merch store. December 16 deadline to arrive by Christmas, check it out HERE.

The most famous music played when teams enter the pitch in the Premier League

0

By Mitch Rice

The right song can be used to add immensely to the atmosphere in a football stadium. It’s therefore no surprise to see that the top teams in the Premier League all have great songs that help to crank up the excitement before their games begin.

Liverpool – ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’

Arguably the most famous example of a song being used in football, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, was written for the 1945 Rogers and Hammerstein musical Carousel. It became a massive hit when Liverpool’s Gerry and the Pacemakers released a pop version in 1963, and its lyrics about overcoming hardship and keeping hope in your heart immediately made it a favourite among the passionate fans in the Kop at Anfield.

While it’s now part of the proud history of Liverpool, it’s also sung by Celtic fans in Scotland, Borussia Dortmund supporters in Germany, and fans of various other clubs. As to the question of which is the best version, some fans point to the emotional singing after the 2019 Champions League final, while others mention the 2025 Premier League title party or the many other famous, emotion-filled versions.

West Ham United – ‘I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles’

This unlikely story began in 1919 when ‘I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles’ was released in the US, becoming a major hit for Ben Selvin’s Novelty Orchestra. Fast forward a few years and we find a young West Ham player called William ‘Bubbles’ Murray. Although he never played a single minute of first-team football, Murray’s time at the club led to fans singing the song to encourage the players.

It quickly cemented a place as the classic West Ham song, with a house band sometimes leading the fans into the tune. One of the most surreal moments in the league’s history came before a game against Middlesbrough in 1999, when 23,680 Hammers fans set the world record for the most people blowing bubbles at the same time.

Manchester City – ‘Blue Moon’

This song by Rodgers and Hart was written in the 1930s and has been covered by artists from Elvis Presley to Rod Stewart and Bob Dylan. Yet we need to jump forward to 1989 to find out when it was adopted by Manchester City fans as their anthem.

The first time it was sung by the fans may have been in a game against Liverpool at the start of the 1989-90 season, though other sources suggest that it may have made its debut in an uncharacteristic away win against Aston Villa a few seasons earlier. With lyrics about feeling sad and lonely, it soon became a way of showing frustration at the team’s poor form at the time, while pointing out the hope that things would soon get better.

Manchester United – ‘This Is the One’

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has said that he helped choose this Stone Roses track as the song that players walk out to at Old Trafford. This is from the band’s 1989 self-titled debut album. Neville has explained in interviews that he wanted a new song for the team when he was made captain, and that it still gives him goosebumps when he hears it before a game.

Can the right song inspire teams to better performances? If you want to use the Betfred free bet offer, you might wonder whether the home stadium effect is a factor to take into account when placing your wager. You’ll find all the latest odds for Manchester United and other Premier League teams, with a £50 free bet provided when you sign up and place a £10 stake on the site.

Arsenal – ‘The Angel (North London Forever)’

This is a more recent song than the others, released by Louis Dunford in 2022. The song is dedicated to his love for Arsenal and the borough of Islington, where they’re based. It wasn’t an official Arsenal song, but enough fans noticed it on social media to grab the attention of manager Mikel Arteta and earn Dunford an invitation to meet the players.

Arteta said that the lyrics provoked an emotional reaction from the players the first time they heard it sung in the stadium. This led to it becoming the official Arsenal song that is played before the players take the field at the Emirates Stadium for each home game. The former stadium at Highbury and other iconic local spots are mentioned in the lyrics, making it a song that hits home each time it’s sung.

These examples show how Premier League anthems can come from a variety of backgrounds. The important thing is that they inspire the fans and players to feel part of something special.

Jimmy Fallon Releases New Holiday Single “Ugly Sweater” Featuring Carter Faith

0

Emmy and Grammy Award-winning entertainer Jimmy Fallon has triumphantly returned to the holiday music scene, releasing his festive new single, “Ugly Sweater,” which features the incredible voice of rising Nashville star Carter Faith, out now via Republic Records.

Written entirely by Fallon and produced by the Grammy-winning Dave Cobb, the track captures a nostalgic, Conway Twitty-influenced sound that perfectly nods to the great country duets of the 1970s. The song tells the heartwarming story of one brave man who shows up to a Christmas party in the wrong outfit but ends up finding the right person, proving that sometimes, true love is just one mistletoe away and one questionable fashion choice apart.

This release follows Fallon’s monumental, chart-topping comedy holiday album, ‘Holiday Seasoning’, which featured collaborations with major stars like Dolly Parton, Justin Timberlake, and Ariana Grande.

Brutal Post-Punks TV CULT Announce UK/EU Tour Following New Album ‘Industry’

0

Cologne, Germany-based “brutal post-punks” TV CULT are delighted to announce a full run of UK headline tour dates for January 2026, with additional EU dates also currently on sale. The band is riding a massive wave of momentum following the release of their critically-acclaimed second album, ‘Industry’, on Flight 13 Records earlier this autumn. The album, featuring striking artwork from world-famous Köln photographer Boris Becker’s ‘Konstruktionen’ series, follows their widely praised debut LP, ‘Colony’, and sees the band charting darker waters than ever before, exploring heavy themes including the decline of western culture.

TV CULT is driven by brooding, domineering bass lines, cold, frantic guitars, powerful drums, and vocals that alternate between gothic croon and golden-era DC hardcore, creating a unique sound that blends the best elements of bands like Joy Division, Black Flag, and Idles. Their latest single, “Overpressure,” recently earned a feature on Daniel P Carter’s BBC R1 Rock Show, adding to international radio airplay from NPR, KEXP, and more. The album was recorded by Christoph Scheidel, mixed by Misha Hering (High Vis, Idles) at Holy Mountain Studios in London, and mastered by Brad Boatright (Off!, Sleep) at Audiosiege in Portland.

Following previous headline tours and support slots with bands like High Vis, DITZ, and Militarie Gun, TV CULT is now setting its sights on taking its brutalist approach to wider UK audiences. The UK leg of the tour kicks off on January 25th in London at New Cross Inn and includes stops at The Croft in Bristol and Bannerman’s in Edinburgh, before the band moves on to multiple dates in mainland Europe, including shows in Bratislava, Ljubljana, and Milan across early March 2026. This is a formidable band, focused, fearless, and ready to deliver their aggressive sound to packed rooms everywhere.

Quebec Quintet Downstater Releases Punk Anthem “Losing Grip”

0

Quebec City’s punk-rock quintet Downstater has released their powerful new single, the punk rock anthem “Losing Grip,” complete with a new music video. The band describes the track as an ode to recklessness and fate, explaining that it is “about embracing the chaos of your imminent downfall. Like Sisyphus in Greek mythology who must face the absurdity of his punishment, ‘Losing Grip’ captures the thrill of looking down the barrel of defeat and smiling in the face of your impending collapse.” The group, led by singer and guitarist Jean-Philippe Lagacé—a veteran who made his mark internationally for sixteen years with his former band Get The Shot—seeks to revive the raw energy and overflowing passion of 90s punk rock, drawing deep influences from legends such as Rise Against, No Use For A Name, and The Offspring.

Since releasing their acclaimed 2023 debut album ‘Cruelest Defeats’ under the People of Punk Rock label, Downstater has significantly expanded its loyal fanbase, touring extensively across Canada and sharing stages with prominent bands like Lagwagon, Face To Face, and Goldfinger, alongside appearances at major events including Festival Au Lac and Music 4 Cancer. With songs that successfully merge nostalgia, anger, and resentment, the band continues to offer energetic and moving music that reflects their desire to find meaning in pain and the struggles of existence. The quintet is currently finalizing the recording of their second album and is set to embark on a series of international tours that will take them across Europe and North America in 2026, confirming their rising presence in the global punk scene.
