Outlaw Country Firebrand Paul Cauthen Struts Forward With ‘Book Of Paul’ And “Texas Swagger”

0

Paul Cauthen steps into a bold new chapter with his fifth album ‘Book Of Paul’. The outlaw country firebrand delivers a record packed with swagger, grit, and the booming Big Velvet voice that has defined his rise through the country underground.

The album is out now and finds Cauthen leaning fully into the sound that shaped him. Classic country grit collides with gospel soul and rock and roll attitude, creating a raw and unapologetic statement rooted in his East Texas identity.

Cauthen marked the project with the release of “Texas Swagger,” a bronc-bucking anthem driven by dark twang and undeniable attitude. The track was co-written with Rob Ragosta and Sam Martinez and arrives with a striking music video filmed at the BuckTown bull riding compound of rodeo legend JB Mauney.

“If you look at the Bible, there is no book of Paul,” Cauthen says. “I just wanted to write something that embodies me. I’m sick of hearing records catered to what’s hot and what’s working.”

Production on the album is shared by Ryan Tyndell, Steve Rusch, Sam Martinez, Fustin, and Nate Ferraro. Cauthen co-wrote 12 of the album’s 13 tracks and even steps behind the kit and bass on select recordings, giving the project a hands-on, deeply personal feel.

With a sound sitting somewhere between Waylon Jennings, Elvis Presley, and Jerry Lee Lewis, Cauthen continues to carve his own lane in modern country. ‘Book Of Paul’ stands as another fearless chapter from an artist who refuses to follow anyone else’s rules.

Alberta Cross return with a gripping new single, “Toy Soldiers.” The indie rock mainstays deliver their first new music of the year with a track that balances urgency, tension, and a flicker of hope. The song arrives as the first glimpse of a larger body of work still to be revealed.

Produced by Luke Potashnick at the legendary Wool Hall Studios, the track hits with restless energy. Jagged keys cut through hypnotic guitars while tight drums drive the rhythm forward. The sound feels raw and immediate, capturing Alberta Cross at their most loose and electric.

Frontman Petter Ericson Stakee says the song reflects the emotional weight of the moment. “There’s a heaviness running through the track, but it wasn’t something we chased. It’s just the world bleeding into the music. The song wrestles with uncertainty, but it doesn’t fake solutions.”

The recording features a stripped-down power trio approach with musicians connected to The Vaccines and The Temperance Movement. The result is a sharp, focused performance that channels tension into momentum.

Alberta Cross have built their reputation on wide-open, road-worn songs that bridge American roots and European melancholy. After years of touring alongside artists like Oasis, Neil Young, and Them Crooked Vultures, the group continues to evolve while holding tight to the restless spirit that built their cult following.
