Sweet Relief and Sweetwater Launch Hearing Health Fund to Protect Musicians From Preventable Hearing Loss

0

A staggering 40 percent of musicians and those working in the music industry experience noise-induced hearing loss, prompting Sweet Relief Musicians Fund and Sweetwater to tackle the issue head-on. Launched today, The Hearing Health Fund at Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, in partnership with Sweetwater, provides essential support for the growing number of music industry professionals who face hearing-related challenges.

Repeated exposure over time to loud sounds can lead to hearing loss, tinnitus, and other auditory issues, putting musicians and music industry workers at higher risk of developing hearing loss than the general public. Research shows that 7 in 10 music venue staff are exposed to noise levels above the daily recommended limit. What’s more, 70 percent reported that they never used hearing protection, and only 15 percent reported using hearing protection regularly.

These findings are concerning to Todd Page, MD, who has a vested interest in protecting the hearing of music makers and music listeners, alike. Dr. Page is Sweetwater’s in-house family physician who provides medical care for employees (many of whom are active musicians) and their families.

“Screening is essential to protecting musicians from hearing loss because once the damage is done, there’s no going back to ‘normal.’ It’s heartbreaking telling a fellow musician their tinnitus isn’t fixable; that it’s too late to reverse it, and all they can do is adapt and try to keep it from progressing,” explained Dr. Page. “Getting musicians to respect the need for hearing protection despite a sense of ‘it won’t happen to me’ is so important when they’re just starting their musical journey.”

The Hearing Health Fund includes a free, three-part hearing screening with a certified audiologist and free Etymotic Research ER-20XS High Fidelity Earplugs. The free consultation includes reviewing the hearing screening results and making recommendations, general education about hearing health as it relates to music industry professionals, individualized education regarding personal sound exposure

Basic care for those struggling with hearing disorders or hearing loss
Sweetwater, the No. 1 online retailer for music gear, is synonymous with sound expertise-the company also creates and delivers immersive audio experiences at major-league stadiums, concert halls, houses of worship, and more. But more importantly, Sweet Relief Musicians Fund teamed with Sweetwater on this effort because of their shared mission of caring for musicians.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Sweetwater to bring this vital resource to our music community, as we share a goal to keep musicians healthy,” said Aric Steinberg, Executive Director, Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. “Music-induced hearing loss and disorders are 100% preventable. Our free hearing health screenings are another way for Sweet Relief to care for musicians and to help ensure that people of all income levels have access to quality medical resources.”

Sons Of The East Announce 2025 World Tour and New Album ‘SONS’

0

Following the announcement of their highly anticipated sophomore album SONS and the release of its stirring first single “Rescue Me,” Australian indie-folk band Sons Of The East have unveiled their third world tour-one that sees them stepping up to bigger venues and larger crowds than ever before. Spanning North America, Europe, the UK, and beyond, the tour will bring their engaging live show to audiences worldwide in support of SONS, out June 13 via MGM (Metropolitan Groove Merchants).

With over 700 million streams, 75 million YouTube views, and more than 100,000 headline tickets sold-all as a fully independent band-Sons Of The East have earned a reputation for unforgettable performances, drawing in fans from around the world. Known for their raucous, communal energy on stage, Jack Rollins (vocals, guitar), Nic Johnston (vocals, keys), and Dan Wallage (guitar, banjo) have earned a reputation for unforgettable performances, with their last global run even catching the attention of some high-profile fans. Bill Murray endorsed them in an Instagram video and when asked how it came about, Sons Of The East manager Bryon Jones stated to The Music, “He’s a genuine fan. He came to a tiny show in North Carolina last year and said hi to the band, and they hung out. Then he turned up to the sold-out Boston show last week and asked for some guitar tips from Jack, so he got them in exchange for the video!”

In London Emma Thompson caught their sold-out show at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire-one of many capacity gigs the band has played worldwide, from The Troubadour in LA to Music Hall of Williamsburg in New York and Sala Apolo in Barcelona. Their next tour promises to be even bigger as they graduate to significantly larger rooms across multiple continents. While Jack Rollins, Nic Johnston, and Dan Wallage remain the heart of the band, their live performances feature a full band, adding even more energy and depth to their dynamic show.

Since their breakthrough, Sons Of The East have captivated a worldwide audience with their seamless fusion of folk, blues, and soul. Their 2022 debut album Palomar Parade (now nearing 100 million streams) set the stage for their meteoric rise, with tracks that resonated far beyond their roots in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Now, SONS marks the next thrilling chapter, crafted between relentless touring and intimate sessions at their Sydney studio.

Parker McCollum Announces Self-Titled Fifth Album Out June 27

0

On Friday night, March 21, multi-Platinum-selling country superstar Parker McCollum stunned a sold-out crowd at the famed RODEOHOUSTON by announcing his forthcoming fifth studio album, PARKER MCCOLLUM, out on June 27 on MCA Nashville. McCollum gave an explosive performance at his third consecutive sold-out appearance at RODEOHOUSTON and the lucky crowd got first access to pre-save his upcoming album.

PARKER MCCOLLUM is an artistic achievement that is grounded in honest introspection and sonically evokes the spirit of Texas. Produced by Grammy Award-winning Frank Lindell and recorded at the legendary Power Station recording studio in New York City, the project is imbued with emotional intensity and masterful storytelling. McCollum revisits the emotions around his unencumbered “wild years,” the pressures of measuring up to public and personal standards, some of the bad decisions, and the unfathomable blessings that have all colored his life to this point.

“It is the best thing I’ve ever done. This record is honest, this record is raw, this record is one thousand percent authentic, Parker, and it feels really good to get back to writing and recording songs like I always wanted to.”
Parker McCollum

McCollum hits the mark with an album that authentically blends the sounds of the classic country records that stand the test of time with mainstream appeal. Writing on all tracks, excluding two cover songs, he returns to the sound of the Limestone Kid with more life lived and a new perspective. Teaming with celebrated songwriters such as Monty Criswell, Natalie Hemby, Randy Montana, Lori McKenna, Jon Randall, Randy Rogers, Liz Rose, and more, this album is a start to end experience that is a cohesive standout project by McCollum.

McCollum’s sold-out RODEOHOUSTON show saw the Conroe, Texas-native at his best. Performing to a season record crowd of 71,216 fans, McCollum and his band took the star-shaped stage playing a 12-song set. The evening was a night full of energy and unforgettable moments including son, Major, making his rodeo debut, and an on-stage proposal in front of a supportive packed house.

Recently, McCollum announced Fall tour dates for his PARKER MCCOLLUM TOUR. For additional information, including upcoming show dates and tickets, please visit ParkerMcCollum.com.Singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Parker McCollum has reached the ranks of a bona fide country music superstar by connecting with fans and critics alike through his relatable and authentic sound. His massive Burn It Down Tour throughout 2024 saw McCollum performing at some of the most iconic venues around the nation and appearing at country music’s top music festivals. McCollum has been named an ‘Artist to Watch’ by Rolling StoneBillboard, SiriusXM, CMT, RIAA, and more with American Songwriter noting, “The Texas native teeters on the edge of next-level superstardom.” MusicRow listed McCollum as their 2021 Breakout Artist of the Year and Apple also included him as one of their all-genre “Up Next Artists” Class of 2021. A dedicated road warrior, McCollum made his debut at the famed Grand Ole Opry in 2021 and has sold out major concert venues around the U.S. In March 2022, McCollum made his debut at RODEOHOUSTON to a sold-out crowd with over 73,000 tickets sold. In 2025, McCollum played his third consecutive sold out show at Houston’s signature event. In 2022, McCollum earned his first ACM Award for New Male Artist of the Year, took home “Breakthrough Video of the Year” (a fully fan-voted honor) at the 2022 CMT Music Awards and scored two back-to-back CMA Awards nominations (2022 & 2023) for New Artist of the Year. He was nominated for a CMA Award for Song of the Year (2024) for his explosive Platinum hit “Burn It Down” – marking his third straight nomination. McCollum scored his second ACM Award for Visual Media of the Year for his music video for “Burn It Down.” The hit single marks his fourth consecutive No. 1 – following his other chart toppers “Pretty Heart,” “To Be Loved By You,” and “Handle On You.” McCollum’s latest single, the foot-stomping, shoot-it-straight, “What Kinda Man,” impacting Country radio now, shows his return to the musical Texas roots that got him started. During his third consecutive sold out appearance at the famed RodeoHouston, McCollum announced his latest self-titled album, PARKER MCCOLLUM, due out on June 27.

Niall Horan Brings the Storm Again With Expanded ‘Heartbreak Weather’ Anniversary Edition

0

Niall Horan will celebrate the fifth anniversary of Heartbreak Weather, his acclaimed sophomore album, with an expanded edition, scheduled for digital release on March 28. The CD and two-disc deluxe vinyl editions will follow on August 15. All versions will feature commemorative artwork and eight bonus tracks: studio versions of “Dress” and “Nothing,” live recordings of “Small Talk” and “Dear Patience” (from Horan’s 2020 livestreamed performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall), “Put A Little Love on Me” (recorded at Vevo studios), an in-studio live recording of “No Judgement” and stripped-down versions of “Nice To Meet Ya” and “Black and White.” Pre-order HERE.

Containing two sea-blue and white splatter discs, the deluxe vinyl edition will feature the exclusive bonus track “Everywhere – Live On Tour,” recorded during Horan’s “THE SHOW” LIVE ON TOUR 2024. The textured gatefold jacket will feature raised lettering, a die-cut lightning bolt on the cover and raindrop inner gatefold. Heartbreak Weather era photos will be printed on the inner sleeves and a lyric book will be included. The deluxe vinyl edition will be available exclusively at Horan’s official store. In addition, the original version of Heartbreak Weather will be available in a new pressing featuring baby blue vinyl and the new artwork.

Originally released on March 13, 2020, Heartbreak Weather debuted at No. 1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums chart and Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart. The first leg of Horan’s North American tour was set to launch on April 20, but the COVID-19 pandemic brought touring to a halt. In November 2020, Horan played a show (without an audience) at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall. Streamed worldwide, all profits were shared by Niall’s touring crew and the #WeNeedCrew relief fund, a hardship fund for the touring industry.

“The release date, which had been planned for months and months in advance, ended up being right as the pandemic started,” Horan recalled in a recent social media post to his fans. “With all of that happening and in turn the tour being cancelled, it wasn’t until last year that I finally got to see you all sing these songs back to me. The way it’s become a fan favourite over these past few years has truly made me so happy.”

Rolling Stone named Heartbreak Weather as one of the most anticipated albums of 2020 and praised the “sultry single” “No Judgement.” Billboard hailed lead single “Nice To Meet Ya” as “Horan’s most daring track yet.” American Songwriter noted, “Horan guns right for the eye of heartbreak’s storm…He feels the sting quite viscerally, yet instead of writhing around in his misery, he fashions his acoustic guitar in new smoldering settings or opts to dance it out into the wee hours of the morning.”

Heartbreak Weather’ is nearly a concept album,” Horan explained in 2020. “I wanted to write these songs from the start of a relationship through to the end – and from different sides –  instead of every song being quite sad and all about me. Because when you go through a breakup, it’s not sad all the time.”

A near-lifelong songwriter who taught himself to play guitar as a kid in Ireland – and who names attending an Eagles concert at age four as a pivotal moment in shaping his sensibilities – Horan has sold over 80 million records and toured the globe multiple times as part of the iconic One Direction. In 2017, he made his full-length solo debut with Flicker, a Platinum-certified and chart-topping album featuring the triple-Platinum single “Slow Hands.” Heartbreak Weather followed in 2020 and topped the U.K.’s Official Albums chart and Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart. He joined NBC’s The Voice” in 2023 and logged two consecutive wins as a coach with the victories of contestants Gina Miles and Huntley. His third album, The Show, was released in 2023 and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales tally and also topped the charts in the U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Holland and Belgium.

What If David Bowie Fronted Rage Against the Machine? Anthony Vincent Has the Answer.

What happens when you take the fury of Rage Against the Machine and drape it in the smooth, swaggering style of David Bowie’s Let’s Dance? Leave it to Anthony Vincent of Ten Second Songs to turn rebellion into glam. Somewhere, Ziggy is moshing.
