Lucy Dacus Releases New Album ‘Forever Is A Feeling’ Featuring Hozier, Phoebe Bridgers & More

0

Today sees the release of Lucy Dacus’ new album, her fourth solo record, Forever Is A Feeling via Geffen Records. The album’s release comes replete with a special performance video for new single “Bullseye” – featuring acclaimed Irish singer-songwriter Hozier – and filmed for legendary Irish television show Other Voices at the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin last week. Dacus first met Hozier, one of her favorite artists, when he joined boygenius onstage at their show in Boston in September 2023. She later invited him to duet with her on “Bullseye”, a song about a breakup in which she felt both partners’ respective voices should be portrayed.

Shortly after boygenius’ multiple GRAMMY wins in January 2024, Lucy recorded Forever Is A Feeling in Los Angeles with an array of collaborators that includes Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, Blake Mills, Bartees Strange, Madison Cunningham, Collin Pastore, Jake Finch and Melina Duterte.

The album’s debut single, “Ankles”, was debuted with a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in January and recently hit the top ten at AAA Radio in the U.S – marking Dacus’ first top ten radio hit as a solo artist.

Tomorrow, Dacus is profiled on CBS Saturday Morning in an interview with Anthony Mason. She also performs three songs from the new album on the show, which airs at 7:00 am ET.

Dacus will embark on the Forever Is A Feeling Tour beginning in Philadelphia on April 16th. Support comes from special guest Katie Gavin (of MUNA) and jasmine.4.t. The tour, her largest to date, includes Radio City Music Hall in New York, two nights at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles and a night at Red Rocks in Denver before heading to the UK and Europe in June. Jessie Reyez Drops Star-Studded New Album ‘Paid in Memories’ Featuring Sam Smith, Lil Wayne, Miguel And More

0

Grammy-nominated, 5x Juno-winning, singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez releases her highly anticipated new album PAID IN MEMORIES, out today via FMLY / Island Records. The new album follows Reyez’s critically acclaimed 2022 record Yessie, and features a star-studded roster including Lil Yachty, Ari Lennox, Lil Wayne, Big Sean, Miguel, Deyaz and a surprise guest appearance by Sam Smith, and arrives on the heels of two 2025 Juno nominations for Jessie (Rap Single of the Year and Songwriter of the Year). Arriving with the album is an official music video for new single “NYB”, directed by RELTA and produced by The Corner Shop.

Beginning tonight in Los Angeles at Hollywood Cemetery, Reyez will play a string of intimate album release shows at some of the first venues she ever performed at, with additional shows in New York City, Chicago and Toronto.

Reyez shares, “My relationship with success has been a little convoluted for a long time. I was scared of it when I first got started in the industry.  It was an ongoing joke that I would give away a lot of my hits because I write a lot of music for other people as well. To be honest, maybe they were right. But the operative word here is WERE. I’ve done un-packing, some of it has to do with being the underdog for too long, another has to do with not having been born rich, and almost feeling like all of the success that I’ve been lucky enough to have feels like a jacket that was too tight. But I’ve been in the gym, I’ve been growing my biceps, I’ve been becoming more familiar with feeling at home. I’m reaping the fruits from the seeds I’ve buried years ago. And I’ve been lucky enough that my success has not just come materially. I’ve been really fortunate that along with the heartbreak, I’ve had beautiful love stories. Along with people that I’ve lost along the way, I’ve had people that stuck it out with me. I’ve been paid in more ways than one, and luckily, I’ve been well paid in memories.”

Known for her fearless lyricism and emotive performances, Reyez continues to captivate listeners with her unique blend of R&B, soul, and contemporary pop. She most recently released previous singles “PSILOCYBIN & DAISIES”“GOLIATH”“JUST LIKE THAT” with Ari Lennox, “RIDIN” with Lil Wayne, “SHUT UP” with Big Sean, and “JEANS” with Miguel – which garnered press praise from BillboardRolling StoneEntertainment TonightHotNewHipHopAmerican SongwriterUproxxStereogumVIBE. Last year, Reyez released a USA Today Best Selling book of poetry, Words of a Goat Princess, contributed to Netflix’s Rebel Moon soundtrack with “Child of Fire” single, and delivered a unique rendition of “Is This Love” featured on the Bob Marley: One Love – Music Inspired by Film soundtrack, which won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album.

Following her run as a supporting act on transcendent pop artist Sam Smith’s GLORIA tour in 2023, Reyez dominated the stage at Lollapalooza 2024 in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile as well as recently making tour stops throughout Australia and Asia. In November, Reyez played Corona Capital festival in Mexico City, and in December, she joined a slew of live shows at arenas across the US on Jhené Aiko’s The Magic Hour Tour. A hitmaker behind the scenes, Reyez has penned hit songs for Dua Lipa, Sam Smith, Kehlani, LISA (BLACKPINK) and Calvin Harris. In 2024, she was awarded Billboard Canada’s Women in Music Trailblazer Award and recognized as a 2024 TikTok Visionary Voice for Latin Heritage Month.

Reyez is still charting strong with her hit songs “Imported” featuring Grammy Nominated artist 6LACK which recently went 2x platinum, and “Figures”, also RIAA certified 2x platinum,  while she continues to build a massive and loyal fanbase, now spanning over 3B streams worldwide across all streaming platforms. Her second studio album Yessie was longlisted for the 2023 Polaris Music Prize, and her debut album Before Love Came to Kill Us recently reached RIAA-Gold Certified, stamping her as a significant pillar on the music landscape upon the release of PAID IN MEMORIES.

Gene MacLellan’s 1977 Album ‘If It’s Alright With You’ Returns in Remastered Reissue

0

Singer songwriter, JUNO Award winner, and Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Gene MacLellan, the self-effacing songwriter from Prince Edward Island, continues his reissue series with the release of his 1977 album If It’s Alright With You, out April 25 via Universal Music Canada. This new re-issue follows the recent re-issue of his debut album Gene MacLellan that included both the original 1970 self-titled debut Gene MacLellan and its U.S. counterpart Street Corner Preacher album. If It’s Alright With You will be available as both a remastered digital edition and limited-edition 180-gram Black Vinyl. Pre-order If It’s Alright With You HERE

With the success of the hit songs MacLellan penned including “Snowbird” (Anne Murray) and “Put Your Hand In The Hand” (Ocean), he quickly became a household name in Canada, and an in-demand songwriter in Nashville and Los Angeles. For many, the acclaim would be a dream come true, but MacLellan was cut from different cloth – he did not want the attention, did not need the adulation, and did not trust the money. In 1971, to try to escape the pressures and constant demands, MacLellan and his new wife Claudia moved to an isolated farmhouse on Prince Edward Island, without a phone or even running water at first, but even in isolation, the requests kept piling up.

In June 1972, MacLellan announced he was quitting the music business, and so the next part of the MacLellan legend was formed; he quit music, gave away his fortune, and disappeared. The reality was that the retirement lasted about a month. After a miserable few weeks traveling in Europe, the couple split up, and MacLellan moved to Toronto, and was back on stage at The Riverboat. MacLellan was still writing, and new, moody songs were mixed with numbers that hinted at his religious background. Anne Murray recorded “If It’s Alright With You” for her 1975 album Together, while MacLellan held on to “Faces,” about feeling alone in a sea of people.

In 1976, finally up to making another record, he was in the studio with producer John Capek (songwriter for Rod Stewart, Diana Ross) and a first-rate band featuring Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame member Prakash John (Parliament, Lou Reed), drummer Whitey Glan (Mandala, Alice Cooper) and studio ace Bob Mann on guitar (James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt). The sessions were more polished than MacLellan’s previous work, with keyboards, backing vocals, strings, and horns playing big roles. “Won’t Talk About Love Anymore” reflected his spiritual search, “Natural Born Friend” had a brightness and optimism, while “One With You,” spoke to his new marriage and renewed faith. Anne Murray also contributes vocals to two songs. Billed as ‘special friend,’ she appears on “Shilo Song”, one of MacLellan’s most beautiful compositions, and “Put Your Hand In The Hand” which he finally got to record for himself.

While “Snowbird” remains an integral part of Canadian culture, and “Put Your Hand In The Hand,” “The Call,” and “Bidin’ My Time” are still beloved, MacLellan’s own recordings have all but disappeared. This album has not been reissued since going out of print shortly after its release, nor has his debut, Gene MacLellan/Street Corner Preacher. Finally, it is a joy to be able to bring these recordings back for the many fans who have wondered about him over the years, and to introduce these exceptional compositions to a new generation.

This long sought-after reissue of his now 1977 Canadian classic has been remastered and will be available as both a remastered digital edition and limited-edition 180-gram Black Vinyl on April 25, 2025, and includes updated liner notes from Canadian music writer Bob Mersereau, who’s previous credits include the best-selling The Top 100 Canadian Albums, and The History of Canadian Rock ‘n’ Roll. Juno-winning artist and daughter, Catherine MacLellan recently performed a series of theatre shows featuring the songs of her father. “The Songs of Gene MacLellan” part concert, part memoir, and both Bob and Catherine are currently writing the definitive biography of Gene MacLellan.

It’s time to dispel the myths, for fans to gather and share their stories of Gene and most importantly to celebrate the music of Gene MacLellan.

Gene MacLellan – If It’s Alright With You tracklisting:

A1 Put Your Hand In The Hand / A2 Ain’t No Tellin’ (How Time Flies) / A3 Canterbury Song / A4 If It’s Alright With You / A5 Shilo Song / B1 Natural Born Friend / B2 Won’t Talk About Love Anymore / B3 When You’re Not Around / B4 Faces / B5 One With You

Adult Pull-On Absorbent Underwear Demystified: Your Go-To Guide for Incontinence Solutions

0

By Mitch Rice

Urinary incontinence is a common condition that affects many people globally. Women and the elderly are the most vulnerable, although young people may still suffer the same due to accidents and other illnesses.

Living with incontinence can be challenging and can affect one’s social life. However, there are many incontinence solutions, like pull-on absorbent underwear meant to enhance the comfort of people with incontinence. If you or your dear is incontinent, you can still live a fulfilling life without fear or shame. Here’s a guide to finding the ideal incontinence solution for your loved one.

What is Incontinence?

Incontinence is a temporary condition characterized by involuntary loss of urine. It happens when your bladder cannot hold urine for a long time, meaning that you may notice urine leaks before getting to the washroom. The intensity of incontinence varies among patients, so the condition can be severe to some people.

The most common type of incontinence happens when there’s a huge urge to urinate, but the urine comes out before you go to a restroom. This condition may also be triggered by stress, meaning that urine comes out after doing a heavy job, coughing, or even exercising.

Incontinence can be treated through medical methods, lifestyle changes, or even surgery in extreme cases. It’s advisable to seek the help of an expert as soon as you notice involuntary urine leakage.

If you or your loved is incontinent and would like to buy them high quality adult pull ups, consider the tips below to get the perfect product.

1. Get a Medical Prescription

The first step to buying any incontinent products is to get a medical prescription. An experienced doctor should examine your health and recommend the ideal solution based on your age, skin sensitivity, and lifestyle.

If you notice the signs of incontinence, don’t rush immediately to the shop without having a detailed medical checkup. A good doctor will not only help you know the ideal incontinent solution to use, but may also identify underlying health issues to be treated.

2. Find the Right Size

Adult pull-on underwear comes in varying sizes. As you buy, it’s vital to understand your waist to pick the best size for your body. The ideal pull-on underwear should be of the same size as your normal underwear in the waist area. If you can’t find the right size, it’s better to get a bigger one than a small one, because you can adjust as you wear.

3. Check Comfort Features

Comfortability is an important consideration to keep in mind when buying an incontinent product. As such, you should only pick a high-quality pull-on diaper made of a soft material. The material should not cause friction when wearing it and should adequately absorb all the urine.

For first-time purchases, you may buy one diaper only for testing and then buy more when you are satisfied with its comfort. Some diapers have a light absorption material and are designed for people with mild incontinence. Others have a heavy cotton material for extra comfort for people with severe incontinence. Know your condition well to pick the most comfy product.

The ideal diaper should be gentle on the skin, breathable, and should keep your skin dry. Most importantly, it should not let out odors even when it’s soaked.

4. Consider the Level of Activity

The patient’s level of activity is another vital factor to keep in mind. Do they stay at home or have an active lifestyle? Some incontinent products have a soft but thick material meant to allow heavier soaking for people with an active lifestyle. Others are thin for people with a sedentary lifestyle or whose level of incontinence is not severe. Understand the level of incontinence for your dear one to get the best pull-on diaper for them.

5. Check the costs

The costs of adult pull-on diapers vary significantly according to the manufacturer’s reputation, quality level, and size. If you need the highest quality diaper, you will pay more compared to buying a smaller-sized diaper of lower quality.

Nevertheless, you don’t have to spend excessively even when buying the highest quality products. Compare different sellers to know how they price their products, and then buy from where you can afford them.

6. Monitor Progress and Develop a Care Plan

The last process of buying the perfect pull on diaper is to watch the progress of the user. How’s the patient responding to the products? Some people have sensitive skin and may develop rashes. Find out how your dear one is coping with this new product, and change it immediately if you notice an adverse effect.

Also, you may have to come up with an effective care plan to complement the diapers. The plan may include creating washroom routines and changing diets to help improve the condition while using the incontinent product.

Conclusion

Finding the right absorbent underwear may be challenging for the first time. You should carefully assess the unique needs of the user, understand the size requirements, and focus on quality. There is an adult diaper for everyone, and with careful consideration, you can pick the most suitable one.

How a Superman Radio Show Helped Expose and Undermine the Ku Klux Klan

0

The Adventures of Superman was a radio show depicting the thrilling adventures of Superman, Lois Lane, Perry White and Jimmy Olsen. The show ran in various timeslots and formats from 1940 to 1951, in both an initial transcribed syndicated format and later on the Mutual and ABC radio networks (sponsored for several years by Kellogg’s Pep, from 1943 until 1947).

The character created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster arrived on radio not long after the comic book, and took on an added dimension with Clayton “Bud” Collyer in the title role. During World War II and the post-war years, the juvenile adventure radio serial was a huge success, with many listeners following the quest for “truth, justice and the American way” in the daily radio broadcasts, the comic book stories and the newspaper comic strip.

The series is also credited with dealing a powerful blow against the Ku Klux Klan’s prospects in the northern USA. The human rights activist, Stetson Kennedy, infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan and other racist/terrorist groups. Concerned that the organization had too strong connections to the government and police forces, Kennedy decided to use his findings to strike at the Klan in a different way. He contacted the producers of “The Adventures of Superman” radio series and proposed a story where the superhero battles the Klan. The producers, looking for new villains, eagerly agreed to the idea. The result was a series of episodes, “Clan of the Fiery Cross,” in which Superman took on the Klan.

Sum 41 Drop Final Spotify Singles Ahead of JUNO Awards Farewell Performance

0

Spotify has teamed up with Sum 41 to release two swansong Singles just days ahead of the Canadian allstars’ last-ever broadcast performance at The JUNO Awards in Vancouver on March 30. The Singles, which were recorded in LA, include an unforgettable skate-punk spin on Rage Against the Machine’s Sleep Now in the Fire and an acoustic version of their 2023 single, Landmines. The Singles are a bittersweet goodbye for fans after wrapping their farewell world tour – The Tour of the Setting Sum – in Toronto at the end of January.

Available on Spotify on Friday, March 28, the Singles are a fitting tribute to a band who have won a global fandom of their nearly 30-year career and are set to be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame ahead of their performance at The JUNO Awards. Since its release, the chart-topping single Landmines has racked up over 35 million streams globally, and has been streamed on over 100,000 playlists on Spotify in the last month alone. The track shows how Canadian music continues to rock the world on Spotify: in the last 28 days, Landmines’ biggest fan bases included cities such as Prague, Vienna and Sydney, with the US, Australia and Brazil also featuring in the list of countries where the track was in heaviest rotation.

Speaking on the Singles’ release, Sum 41 said:  “Recording these Spotify Singles has been an incredible way to celebrate with our fans around the world. We’re so grateful for their support and excited to share this special session with everyone. Huge thanks to Spotify for making this experience possible.”

The band will also be featured in a cross-country OOH campaign beginning on Friday, March 28, including a billboard takeover at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square and New York’s Times Square.

Spotify Singles also just broke its own major milestone, passing 10 billion streams last month. Recorded in Spotify’s state-of-the-art studios in New York City, Los Angeles, London, and Stockholm, the sessions which make up the Singles have resulted in nearly 1,000 recordings from more than 750 artists in 45 markets.

Spotify Singles is Spotify’s longest-running original recorded music franchise, produced with artists in Spotify’s award-winning recording studios. Spotify Singles gives artists the opportunity to re-record one of their existing songs in a fresh new way, as well as cover a song of their choice by one of their own musical heroes. With hundreds of exclusive recordings and over ten billion streams, the program has collaborated with more than 750 artists across 45 markets. From global icons like Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter, legends including Yo-Yo Ma and Norah Jones, and breakthrough artists like Rachel Chinouriri and The Marías, Spotify Singles has worked with artists at every stage of their careers. The franchise has recordings nominated for a Grammy, with several others charting on Billboard, cementing its influence in the music industry.

0

By Mitch Rice

Crystal singing bowls captivate the senses with their striking aesthetics and exceptional sound qualities. Made from pure quartz crystal, these bowls offer a distinct resonance that sets them apart from other instruments. Whether for meditation, sound healing, or simply creating a tranquil atmosphere, their tones can leave a lasting impression.

What Makes Crystal Singing Bowls Stand Out?

The craftsmanship behind crystal singing bowls is reflected in their tonal qualities. Each bowl is carefully shaped and tuned to a specific frequency, often corresponding to the chakras or specific musical notes. The result is a pure, harmonious sound that can fill a space with calming vibrations.

The material also contributes to the sound’s clarity. Quartz crystal amplifies and transmits energy, giving the bowls the unique ability to produce resonant tones that linger in the air. This quality makes them highly sought after for therapeutic and musical purposes.

The Versatility of Crystal Singing Bowls

Crystal singing bowls come in various sizes and finishes, each producing a slightly different tone. Larger bowls create deeper, grounding sounds, while smaller bowls emit higher, more ethereal pitches. This variety allows users to develop soundscapes tailored to their needs, whether they’re using one bowl or a full set.

Some bowls are infused with additional materials like gold or titanium, adding another layer of complexity to their sound. These variations can appeal to those looking for specific tonal characteristics or aesthetic appeal.

Practical Applications of Crystal Singing Bowls

In addition to being revered as musical instruments, crystal singing bowls are widely used in wellness practices, including meditation, sound baths, and yoga sessions. Their tones are believed to help create a serene environment, aiding relaxation and focus. They are often incorporated into alternative healing modalities as tools to help balance energy.

These bowls allow musicians to experiment with unique sounds and integrate them into performances or recordings. Their ability to blend with other instruments adds an extra dimension to creative projects.

Tips for Choosing the Right Crystal Singing Bowl

Selecting a crystal singing bowl can be a personal experience. Here are a few tips to guide your decision:

  • Consider Size: Larger bowls are ideal for creating powerful, low tones, while smaller bowls are better suited for high-pitched, delicate sounds.
  • Material Matters: Bowls infused with elements like platinum or copper can offer distinct tonal variations.
  • Purpose: Consider how you plan to use the bowl for personal meditation, professional therapy sessions, or musical performances.
  • Frequency and Note: Many bowls are tuned to specific notes corresponding to chakras, so you may choose one that aligns with your intentions.

Final Thoughts

Crystal singing bowls offer a truly unique auditory experience that can enhance a variety of practices. Whether you’re incorporating them into your wellness routine or using them to create artful soundscapes, their tones have a way of resonating with both the body and mind. If you’re ready to bring the mesmerizing sounds of crystal singing bowls into your life, take your time to find one that aligns with your intentions and personal style.

Antone’s 50th Allstars to Lead Austin Blues Fest Jam with Gary Clark Jr., Jimmie Vaughan And More

0

Antone’s co-owner Gary Clark Jr. and Texas blues icon Jimmie Vaughan are among a group of illustrious musicians who will unite as the ‘Antone’s 50th Allstars’ at Austin Blues Fest next month; taking place April 26 and 27 in the Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Antone’s – Austin’s iconic “Home Of The Blues” – Clark and Vaughan will lead Sunday’s Allstar Jam lineup, while the Saturday edition will feature multi-talented vocal powerhouse Kam Franklin (of The Suffers) and Ian Moore, who just headlined Antone’s SXSW party last week, an event which “pointed the way towards the future of the blues,” according to Rolling Stone. Additional performers at the Antone’s 50th Allstar Jams will include John Primer (Muddy Waters’ legendary guitarist), Big Bill Morganfield (Muddy Waters’ son, and co-star of A Complete Unknown) and 2024 Blues Hall Of Fame inductees Lil’ Ed Williams and Lurrie Bell.

They’ll join an Austin Blues Fest bill that already includes a stacked lineup of performers from across styles and generations: Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Mavis Staples, North Mississippi Allstars, Jackie Venson, Lee Fields, Jalen Ngonda, Orquesta Akokán and Sue Foley among them. For tickets and full details visit: https://www.austinbluesfestival.com

The ‘Antone’s 50th Allstar Jams’ continue a year-long celebration for “the birthplace of a blues revival” (NPR), which “helped put the Live Music Capital Of The World on the map” (Austin American Statesman). Antone’s will continue the party the following night, Monday April 28, with a special taping of Austin City Limits – “ACL & Antone’s Celebrate The Blues” – which will feature a yet-to-be-announced lineup of Antone’s Allstars, and will air during the show’s next season. Much of the music performed during the Austin City Limits taping – and the Austin Blues Fest Allstar Jams – originates from an upcoming box set celebrating Antone’s 50th anniversary, with official details on that release arriving next month.

A SPECIAL EPISODE OF AUSTIN CITY LIMITS - CELEBRATING ANTONE’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY - SET FOR AN APRIL 28 TAPING, FOLLOWING AUSTIN BLUES FEST

Founded by Clifford Antone as the first live music venue on Austin’s now-famous Sixth Street, Antone’s quickly became ‘home away from home’ for a Mount Rushmore of blues musicians including Muddy Waters, Albert King, Otis Rush, Willie Dixon and B.B. King – as well as a broader tapestry of American roots music. The force behind this all was Antone, a native of Texas’ Gulf Coast region who spent much of his youth roadtripping through the juke joints of nearby Louisiana, where he developed a deep love of Creole music, R&B, zydeco and, above all, the blues. In the venue’s five decade run, Antone’s has continued to define the present and shape the future of blues music, bolstering the careers of internationally-renowned artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Doug Sahm, Charlie Sexton, Angela Strehli, Lou Ann Barton and many more. Today, it remains a vital presence in the live music scene, with its influence carried forward by a new generation of trailblazing artists including Gary Clark Jr., Kam Franklin, Jackie Venson and McKinley James.
