Some albums reshape a genre entirely. That’s Robyn’s Body Talk, an electro-pop masterpiece that refused to play by the rules. Released in 2010, this album was a game-changer, not just for Robyn, but for the entire future of pop music. It gave us “Dancing on My Own”, a song that would go on to soundtrack breakups, gym sessions, and dramatic solo dance parties worldwide. But behind the shimmering synths and emotional bangers, Body Talk has stories that even the biggest fans might not know. Let’s dive into five lesser-known facts about Robyn’s most iconic record.
1. The Album Was Never Supposed to Exist
Originally, Robyn planned to release three mini-albums instead of a full-length LP. The idea was to keep things fresh, release music as she made it, and avoid long gaps between projects. Body Talk Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 arrived in June and September 2010, but instead of a third installment, Robyn decided to merge the best tracks into one definitive album. The final version of Body Talk included five new songs and served as the ultimate highlight reel of her most ambitious project yet. Talk about a last-minute plot twist!
2. “Dancing on My Own” Almost Didn’t Make the Cut
It’s hard to imagine Body Talk without “Dancing on My Own”, but Robyn actually had mixed feelings about the song at first. She loved the track but felt like it represented a younger version of herself, one she was trying to move on from. After months of second-guessing, she decided to include it—and thank the pop gods she did. Not only did it become her signature anthem, but Rolling Stone later ranked it #20 on their “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” list. Proof that sometimes, the songs we almost leave behind are the ones that define us.
3. Max Martin Made a Surprise Comeback
Before Body Talk, Robyn had already reinvented herself from teen pop star to indie-pop powerhouse. But she decided to circle back to her roots for one track—“Time Machine”, co-written with none other than Max Martin. Yes, the same hit-making wizard behind Britney Spears’ …Baby One More Time and The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights. Martin had worked on Robyn’s ’90s breakout hits but hadn’t collaborated with her for over a decade. This reunion wasn’t just nostalgic—it was a full-circle moment proving that pop can evolve without losing its essence.
4. “Fembot” Was Robyn’s Way of Making Fun of Herself
At first listen, “Fembot” sounds like a futuristic anthem about technology and artificial intelligence. But according to Robyn, it was really about turning 30 and dealing with people’s expectations about marriage and kids. She saw humor in how women are often expected to be “programmed” for certain life milestones, so she leaned into the robotic theme. The best part? The song’s cheeky lyrics: “I got some news for you / Fembots have feelings too”. It’s Robyn in her purest, most playful form, proving that pop music can be both deep and ridiculously fun.
5. Body Talk Secretly Influenced Every Pop Star You Love
Even if you haven’t played Body Talk on repeat since 2010 (which, let’s be real, you should be), its impact is everywhere. Taylor Swift cited it as a major influence on 1989, Lorde called it “the peak of pop”, and Charli XCX built an entire career on the Robyn blueprint. And let’s not forget that Dancing on My Own became one of the most covered songs of the decade, with versions by Calum Scott, Kelly Clarkson, and even Kings of Leon. If you’ve ever loved a sad banger with shimmering synths, you can thank Robyn for paving the way.
It’s been over a decade since Body Talk changed the landscape of electronic pop, but it still sounds as fresh as ever. From its genre-bending production to its unapologetically emotional songwriting, Body Talk set the standard for what modern pop music could be. So the next time you’re dancing alone in your room, remember that Robyn did it first, and she did it best.
Now, excuse me while I blast “Call Your Girlfriend” at full volume.

Singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Parker McCollum has reached the ranks of a bona fide Country music superstar by connecting with fans and critics alike through his relatable and authentic sound. His most recent album, Never Enough (released on May 12, 2023 via MCA Nashville), is a statement collection of music that cements his status as one of Country’s strongest new voices. Currently on his massive Burn It Down Tour throughout 2024, McCollum will be performing at some of the most iconic venues around the nation and appearing at Country music’s top music festivals.
McCollum has been named an ‘Artist to Watch’ by Rolling Stone, Billboard, SiriusXM, CMT, RIAA, and more with American Songwriter noting, “The Texas native teeters on the edge of next-level superstardom.” Music Row listed McCollum as their 2021 Breakout Artist of the Year and Apple also included him as one of their all-genre “Up Next Artists” Class of 2021. A dedicated road warrior, McCollum made his debut at the famed Grand Ole Opry in 2021 and has sold out major concert venues around the U.S. In March 2022, McCollum made his debut at RODEOHOUSTON to a sold-out crowd with over 73,000 tickets sold, returning to perform at the Opening Day celebration in 2023.
He recently made a dream come true with his first-ever Austin City Limits performance, kicking off their 2023 season. In 2022, McCollum earned his first ACM Award for New Male Artist of the Year, took home “Breakthrough Video of the Year” (a fully fan-voted honor) at the 2022 CMT Music Awards and scored two back-to-back CMA Awards nominations (2022 & 2023) for New Artist of the Year. He is nominated for another CMA Award for “Song of the Year” (2024) for his explosive Platinum hit “Burn It Down” – marking his third straight nomination. Recently, McCollum scored his second ACM Award for “Visual Media of the Year” for his music video for “Burn It Down.”
The hit single marks his fourth consecutive #1 – following his other chart toppers “Pretty Heart,” “To Be Loved By You,” and “Handle On You.” McCollum’s latest single, the foot-stomping, shoot-it-straight, “What Kinda Man,” shows his return to the musical Texas roots that got him started. “What Kinda Man” and its official music video are available now.
After two years of touring and writing tirelessly, Brooklyn-based Sapphic folk artist Gemma Laurence is ready to announce her third and forthcoming album, We Were Bodies Underwater, due out Summer 2025 via MainFactor and Mad Dragon Records. At its core, We Were Bodies Underwater is a story of finding softness in harsh places, love and tenderness in trauma’s wake. Following the arc of two lovers’ lives, Laurence paints a series of nine vignettes with visceral detail: the skin’s first shock of desire, the tongue’s taste of blood, the stomach’s pit of longing. Sweeping and cinematic, the album pulls listeners into a universe where the past bleeds into the present, where the streets of Brooklyn melt into the open Oklahoma plains, and where nothing is ever truly forgotten.
With the album announcement, she shares an unforgettable lead single, “Bloodlines.”
“Bloodlines” tells a story of nostalgia and trauma, centered around two lovers intertwined in each others’ grasp. Combining her folk background with her love of alt-country and early 00’s rock, Laurence leans into a grungier, twangier sound on her latest offering. Electric guitars wail and shriek in one moment then cut out in the next; pedal steel croons in the distance while mandolin melodies fall like water through a wash of harmonies; banjo-driven rhythms propel the song forward and a pulsing kick drum beats on with a grounding force. And soaring over everything, Laurence’s lilting dulcet twang takes the center stage.
With the single release, Laurence shares a music video directed by Ross Page and co-written and produced by Page and herself. Shot on Super 8, the music video has a timeless feel to it, capturing two lovers building a home together. Everything seems picture-perfect… until the world they’ve created grows more and more strange, and a darker, almost Lynchian, scene unfolds. Trapped in an uncanny valley of memory and fantasy, of what was and what could have been, the two dancers spin effortlessly through a liminal space in the shape of a home.
Ephemeral and elegiac, gut-wrenching and life-affirming, “Bloodlines”tells a story of love and its aftermath, and how the past lives on within us.
The Argentinian band TRÍADA—comprised of Diamela Spina (percussion, vocals), Aylen Reynoso (guitar) and Julia Percowicz (vocals)— share their debut EP De Versiones y Alma, out now on Verve Records / Mercury Records. De Versiones y Alma is a rich, bite-sized EP that offers a proper introduction to TRÍADA and captures their essence via covers of songs transformed with a fresh Argentine flair. Check out the EP here, and a performance video of “Bésame Mucho.”
The Buenos Aires-based trio, who started making music together while students in performing arts school, have amassed millions of views and a global audience since they began self-recording music in 2023. As they gained momentum, they decided to call themselves TRÍADA, a reference to the musical language of three notes that make a chord, and the sisterhood of three individuals.
At the age of 19, Diamela, Aylen and Julia intonate classics with a perceived lived experience and ease that far surpasses their years. Their rendition of João Gilberto’s “O Pato,” for example, was received with much praise and delight on Instagram, where it garnered 2 million views and became their first proper release. As is the case with most of their covers, the three ladies add their youthful energy and inspiration from their home of Buenos Aires to the track.
Initially tapping into progressive rock and experimenting with a post-punk vibe, the three friends later freely dived into the sounds that formed them: folklore, jazz, bossanova, and acoustic music from singer songwriters like Jorge Drexler, Los Panchos, Gustavo Peña, João Gilberto , Rita Payés and more. Now, the trio is taking their love across borders and language barriers with an EP that calls to artists from Uruguay, Brazil, the UK, and, of course, Argentina. Exploring and expanding their artistry by revisiting and reshaping sonically stunning songs of the past, near and far, the trio is making way for self-discovery and see no limits to their growth. “We don’t know what the future holds; we haven’t produced our album yet,” they assess, “but we’re super clear on the fact that our Argentinian roots, and more broadly our Latino roots, will be there.”
Howard Shore: Anthology – The Paris Concerts comes out on Deutsche Grammophon today, 21 March 2025. Curated by the multi-award-winning Canadian composer himself, this much-anticipated double album presents highlights from many of his best-loved scores, including the soundtracks to The Fly, Ed Wood, Crash, Eastern Promises and, of course, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. It was recorded during Radio France’s sold-out Howard Shore Weekend, with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France (OPRF), conducted by Ludwig Wicki and Bastien Stil, and Le Balcon, conducted by Mike Schäperclaus. The DG release coincides with the first ever London Soundtrack Festival, whose inaugural Inspiration Award will be presented to Howard Shore tomorrow evening as part of a gala concert at the Royal Festival Hall.
The album is available digitally, as a 2-CD set and on vinyl. The 2‑LP set comprises the pieces from The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, Esther Kahn, and the Concertino from Eastern Promises, as well as the solo piano concert work Catania. Meanwhile the deluxe vinyl version offers the complete album repertoire on 3 film-themed picture discs. The LPs are packaged in a special gatefold sleeve which features lyrics in Tolkien’s Sindarin language as well as English. STAGE+ subscribers can also explore the filmed versions of the Paris concerts here.
Howard Shore’s music has graced over a hundred films and won him a string of awards, including 3 Oscars, 3 Golden Globes and 4 Grammys. He has also written for opera, ballet and the concert hall. DG’s new anthology showcases music of different styles and eras, from Catania, performed by solo pianist Jean-Paul Gasparian, to the epic, orchestral-choral grandeur of Shore’s The Fellowship of theRing soundtrack, featuring the Maîtrise (children’s choir) and Chœur de Radio France.
There are contrasting suites from some earlier film scores, reflecting the sinister tones of The Fly; the cool sax lines of Naked Lunch (Stéphane Guillaume ably taking on the solo part made famous by Ornette Coleman); the mysterious ambience of Ed Wood, where Lydia Kavina plays the theremin, as she did for the original, 30 years ago; and the eerie metallic sounds of harps and electric guitars heard in Crash. Also included are a gently hypnotic extract from Esther Kahn and the Eastern European-influenced Concertino from Eastern Promises, for solo violin (Raphaëlle Moreau) and chamber ensemble. And, as we might expect, the album opens in Middle-earth, with a beautiful moment from The Hobbit, starring the OPRF’s principal oboist Olivier Doise.

MPL and UMe commemorate the 50th anniversary of Wings’ fourth studio album Venus and Mars with a half speed master edition and Dolby ATMOS mix, released today and available HERE.
One of the world’s most beloved rock outfits, Wings came to define the era of 1970s arena rock, while dominating the airwaves with no fewer than 14 US Top 10 hits and 12 Top 10 hits in the UK. Following their 1973 masterpiece Band on the Run, Venus and Mars would represent another peak of Wings’ creative and commercial heyday. The band’s fourth studio album, it was released on May 27, 1975 ahead of the legendary Wings Over the World tour. Preceded by the US Number One single “Listen To What The Man Said” and featuring “Letting Go,” a fan favorite in Paul’s live set to this day, Venus and Mars hit Number One in the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic and went on to sell over 4 million copies worldwide.
50 years since the album’s original release, Venus and Mars has received critical acclaim anew, described “ingenious” in a 9/10 review in Uncut Magazine and “rifftastic tunes that juggle his melodic gifts and pop smarts with the desire to rock out” by MOJO.
In celebration of today’s release, live music videos of Wings performing “Letting Go” and “Rockshow” during the 1975 “Wings Over The World” tour, featuring Paul and Linda McCartney, Denny Laine, Jimmy McCulloch and Joe English, have been remastered in 4K. Watch “Letting Go” HERE. “Rockshow” premieres on YouTube HERE at 1600 GMT.
This special 50th anniversary vinyl edition was cut at half speed using a high-resolution transfer of the original master tapes from 1975 by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. The album is presented as a meticulous reproduction of the original UK pressing, with recreations of the original “Venus and Mars are alright tonight” circular sticker and “comparative sizes of sun and planets” bookmark sticker, and comes with two posters with photography by Aubrey Powell and Sylvia de Swaan. The iconic album artwork by Hipgnosis has been meticulously recreated and presented in a gatefold sleeve.
Venus and Mars is also now available in Dolby ATMOS for the first time, newly mixed by Giles Martin and Steve Orchard.
Less than one year after Band on the Run’s release, the first recording sessions for Venus and Mars took place in November 1974, and featured a revamped Wings line-up. Following the departure of Denny Seiwell and Henry McCullough on the eve of the Band on the Run sessions in Lagos, Paul and Linda McCartney and Denny Laine were now joined by guitarist Jimmy McCulloch and drummer Geoff Britton. After recording “Letting Go,” “Medicine Jar” and “Love In Song” at Abbey Road Studios, Wings left London for New Orleans’ Sea Saint Studios, facing another unexpected line-up shift with Geoff Britton’s exit, recruiting Joe English to complete the album.
In tandem with Venus and Mars’ topping the charts worldwide, the album’s predecessor Band on the Run was continuing to build its global multi-platinum popularity. With a powerful new line-up solidified, Wings’ response to the overwhelming demand surrounding them was to launch the Wings Over the World tour — a 65-date run of shows starting in 1975 and stretching into October 1976.
The first Wings release for 2025, Venus and Mars follows 2024’s theatrical release of the rare Wings live-in-studio performance film One Hand Clapping and its accompanying album landing in the Best of 2024 lists of Billboard, Uproxx and the Los Angeles Times, as well as last year’s 50th anniversary edition of Band on the Run.
Looking ahead, the new book WINGS: The Story of a Band on the Run, will be published on November 4, 2025 – a landmark account of Paul’s triumphant musical reinvention in the 1970s and the rise of one of the decade’s most iconic and vital bands. Singer-songwriter David Archuleta returns with his first taste of new music and what is sure to be his most delectable pop confection of a song with his new single, “Crème Brulée” HERE The sweet and sexy track is the first single off of David’s upcoming EP release out this summer and was written by David, Ryan Nealon & Robyn Dell’Unto and produced by Michael Blum.
David Archuleta is stepping into a bold new era with “Crème Brulée” – a playful and irresistibly flirty pop anthem that highlights his impressive vocal range and Latin roots like never before.
David blends English and Spanish in a way that feels as smooth and addictive as the namesake dessert, “All this time I’ve been singing Spanish covers, but I’ve never had that Spanish flare in my own pop music. I wanted to get in touch with my Latin roots, have fun, be flirty, and explore the sensual side of David.”
With infectious energy and a hint of Latin flair, “Crème Brulée” is a confident, fun-loving track that showcases David’s evolution as an artist—sultry, charismatic, and completely in his element.
With smooth, dynamic vocals and a hook that sticks like caramelized sugar, David teases the listener—giving just enough to leave them wanting more. “Someone was really after me and wanted everything from me right away, but you’ve gotta work for it if you want more from me. You may have had a taste that makes you go crazy (“yo te vuelvo loco” is “I make you crazy” in Spanish) but I’m not going to give it all just yet unless you’re really worth my time and it’s worthwhile for me.” “Crème Brulée” has all the ingredients to be a pop anthem for the year and is too irresistible to listen to just once.
The official music video for “Crème Brulée” also arrives today HERE . The edgy and intricately choreographed dance video is directed by Nathan Kim, who has collaborated on projects for Charli XCX, David Guetta and Lady Gaga and features David embracing his love of the art of dance with the JA Collective dance trio. “The “Crème Brulée” video was so much fun to make with the choreography and a new creative release for me. I’ve always loved moving to music and so the more I’ve taken choreography/dance classes I’ve found a better outlet to feel liberated and express myself. Working with Aidan, Jordan, and Nathan Kim introduced me to a new style that was really satisfying. Dancing brings me a newfound confidence, and makes me feel like I’m more in touch with my body and sensuality,” states David.
Whether with his viral Sabrina Carpenter moment on stage at Hudson Yards in NYC HERE or his recent cover of George Michael’s timeless hit, “Freedom” HERE – David is clearly having a renaissance back into pop culture. To celebrate his new music, including “Crème Brulée,” he’s curated a spectacular live show experience with his upcoming AFTERHOURS dance party event where he is set to perform live in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 3 at The Bellwether alongside beloved House DJ @tysunderland and @alexandrajohnmusic. Tickets available HERE
Since first stepping into the pop spotlight at age 17, David Archuleta has embodied the kind of genuine star power that can’t be manufactured. After years of dazzling audiences with his radiant personality and phenomenal voice—a journey that’s included turning out multiple platinum-selling hits, achieving global acclaim as a captivating live performer, and emerging as an undeniable fixture on the pop-culture scene—the Miami-born singer/songwriter experienced a major personal transformation that radically altered his identity as an artist. As shown on his recent single “Hell Together,” Archuleta has dramatically expanded the landscape of his songwriting and devoted himself to making pop music with equal parts uncompromising emotion and exhilarating impact.
With his latest triumphs including winning the 2024 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist and landing a book deal with a HarperCollins imprint for his forthcoming memoir, Archuleta first moved toward the unfiltered truth of his new material with a revelatory writing trip to Toronto in late 2022. “It was a really magical week where I started exploring topics I’d never discussed before in my music, like falling in love with a man and leaving my faith,” says the L.A.-based artist, who came out in 2021. “In a way it was scary, but mostly it was thrilling to do what would have seemed impossible to the person I used to be. I realized I don’t have to hide who I am anymore.” Although he’d displayed a heartfelt candor on previous releases like his eighth album Therapy Sessions (a 2020 album that opened up about his struggles with anxiety), Archuleta ultimately embraced an entirely new element of unbridled creativity in the writing of songs like his euphoric 2023 single “Afraid To Love.”
While Archuleta brought a sublimely dance-ready sound to songs like “Afraid To Love” and “I’m Yours” (a 2023 single whose video earned such illustrious awards as the Best Music Video prize at the Cannes World Film Festival), “Hell Together” centers on a stripped-back and soulful form of piano-driven pop. A gospel-inspired ballad that hit the top five on iTunes the day of its premiere in March 2024, the heartrending yet triumphant track took shape after a conversation with his mother following the publication of a People magazine article in which he discussed his faith transition. “I didn’t hear from my mom for a few days after the article came out and I was worried she was upset with me, because she was very devout and always saw the church as a place of healing,” he says. “But when we finally talked my mother said that she was stepping away from the church as well. She told me, ‘I don’t want to be somewhere that my children don’t feel loved and welcomed. If you go to Hell, we’re all going to Hell with you. We’re a family and we’ll always be there for each other, in good or in bad! ’”
Not only a powerful example of his newly elevated artistry, “Hell Together” is an unprecedented showcase for the tremendous vocal talents Archuleta has cultivated since childhood. Raised in Utah from the age of six, he first fell in love with music due to the influence of his mother (a salsa singer and dancer) and father (a jazz trumpeter). By his early teens he’d begun writing songs of his own, and in 2008 he gained massive fame as the first runner-up on the seventh season of American Idol. After making his debut with his double-platinum single “Crush,” he released a steady stream of albums and built an adoring following around the world, touring in such far-flung places as Asia and the Middle East. In a truly unexpected and audacious move, Archuleta left the music business in a moment of colossal success and headed to Chile to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for two years—then returned with a profoundly renewed sense of purpose as he dove back into his music career.
As he continues to unlock new levels of freedom in his music and beyond, Archuleta has found an endless source of inspiration in his growing passion for dancing, raves, and festival culture. “EDM festivals and dancing have been a new way of feeling a sense of community and togetherness that I was worried I would lose,” he says. “Feeling a oneness through music and dancing is so magical and therapeutic—it’s freeing and also creative. It has encouraged me to be more fearless and to not be afraid to express myself in more creative ways.” With his recent live experience including making his musical-theater debut in 2022 as the lead in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat—and joining the likes of Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, Grammy Award-winner Victoria Monet, and Lauv for the 2023 LOVELOUD tour—Archuleta routinely brings that open-heartedness to a high-energy live show that fosters an extraordinarily close connection with the crowd. Over the past few years, he’s also deepened his relationship with his fanbase by bringing his effortless charisma and disarmingly warm presence to social media platforms like TikTok, where he’s now spurred numerous viral videos with millions of views.
Naming such eclectic artists as Tracy Chapman, indie-pop singer/songwriter Maddie Zahm, and Nigerian musician Tems among his current inspirations, Archuleta is continuing to unveil more of his inner life in his songwriting. With more new music due out soon, he notes that uncovering his most authentic voice has involved finding self-assurance in unexpected places. “Growing up in the church, I was taught to stand up for my beliefs and share them with the world, which is exactly what I’m trying to do with my music,” he says. “Even though I stand for something else now, I still have that same level of conviction in what I do. I believe in being bold in my vulnerability and speaking the truth of who I am, so that hopefully people can come away from my songs feeling like they understand themselves, or others, or just life in general a little better than they did before.”
