Howard Shore Releases ‘Anthology – The Paris Concerts’ as London Soundtrack Festival Honors His Legacy

0

Howard Shore: Anthology – The Paris Concerts comes out on Deutsche Grammophon today, 21 March 2025. Curated by the multi-award-winning Canadian composer himself, this much-anticipated double album presents highlights from many of his best-loved scores, including the soundtracks to The FlyEd WoodCrashEastern Promises and, of course, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. It was recorded during Radio France’s sold-out Howard Shore Weekend, with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France (OPRF), conducted by Ludwig Wicki and Bastien Stil, and Le Balcon, conducted by Mike Schäperclaus. The DG release coincides with the first ever London Soundtrack Festival, whose inaugural Inspiration Award will be presented to Howard Shore tomorrow evening as part of a gala concert at the Royal Festival Hall.

The album is available digitally, as a 2-CD set and on vinyl. The 2‑LP set comprises the pieces from The HobbitThe Lord of the RingsEsther Kahn, and the Concertino from Eastern Promises, as well as the solo piano concert work Catania. Meanwhile the deluxe vinyl version offers the complete album repertoire on 3 film-themed picture discs. The LPs are packaged in a special gatefold sleeve which features lyrics in Tolkien’s Sindarin language as well as English. STAGE+ subscribers can also explore the filmed versions of the Paris concerts here.

Howard Shore’s music has graced over a hundred films and won him a string of awards, including 3 Oscars, 3 Golden Globes and 4 Grammys. He has also written for opera, ballet and the concert hall. DG’s new anthology showcases music of different styles and eras, from Catania, performed by solo pianist Jean-Paul Gasparian, to the epic, orchestral-choral grandeur of Shore’s The Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack, featuring the Maîtrise (children’s choir) and Chœur de Radio France.

There are contrasting suites from some earlier film scores, reflecting the sinister tones of The Fly; the cool sax lines of Naked Lunch (Stéphane Guillaume ably taking on the solo part made famous by Ornette Coleman); the mysterious ambience of Ed Wood, where Lydia Kavina plays the theremin, as she did for the original, 30 years ago; and the eerie metallic sounds of harps and electric guitars heard in Crash. Also included are a gently hypnotic extract from Esther Kahn and the Eastern European-influenced Concertino from Eastern Promises, for solo violin (Raphaëlle Moreau) and chamber ensemble. And, as we might expect, the album opens in Middle-earth, with a beautiful moment from The Hobbit, starring the OPRF’s principal oboist Olivier Doise.

Wings’ Venus and Mars Celebrates 50 Years with Half-Speed Master Edition and Dolby ATMOS Mix

0

MPL and UMe commemorate the 50th anniversary of Wings’ fourth studio album Venus and Mars with a half speed master edition and Dolby ATMOS mix, released today and available HERE.

One of the world’s most beloved rock outfits, Wings came to define the era of 1970s arena rock, while dominating the airwaves with no fewer than 14 US Top 10 hits and 12 Top 10 hits in the UK. Following their 1973 masterpiece Band on the RunVenus and Mars would represent another peak of Wings’ creative and commercial heyday. The band’s fourth studio album, it was released on May 27, 1975 ahead of the legendary Wings Over the World tour. Preceded by the US Number One single “Listen To What The Man Said” and featuring “Letting Go,” a fan favorite in Paul’s live set to this day, Venus and Mars hit Number One in the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic and went on to sell over 4 million copies worldwide.

50 years since the album’s original release, Venus and Mars has received critical acclaim anew, described “ingenious” in a 9/10 review in Uncut Magazine and “rifftastic tunes that juggle his melodic gifts and pop smarts with the desire to rock out” by MOJO.

In celebration of today’s release, live music videos of Wings performing “Letting Go” and “Rockshow” during the 1975 “Wings Over The World” tour, featuring Paul and Linda McCartney, Denny Laine, Jimmy McCulloch and Joe English, have been remastered in 4K. Watch “Letting Go” HERE. “Rockshow” premieres on YouTube HERE at 1600 GMT.

This special 50th anniversary vinyl edition was cut at half speed using a high-resolution transfer of the original master tapes from 1975 by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. The album is presented as a meticulous reproduction of the original UK pressing, with recreations of the original “Venus and Mars are alright tonight” circular sticker and “comparative sizes of sun and planets” bookmark sticker, and comes with two posters with photography by Aubrey Powell and Sylvia de Swaan. The iconic album artwork by Hipgnosis has been meticulously recreated and presented in a gatefold sleeve.

Venus and Mars is also now available in Dolby ATMOS for the first time, newly mixed by Giles Martin and Steve Orchard.

Less than one year after Band on the Run’s release, the first recording sessions for Venus and Mars took place in November 1974, and featured a revamped Wings line-up. Following the departure of Denny Seiwell and Henry McCullough on the eve of the Band on the Run sessions in Lagos, Paul and Linda McCartney and Denny Laine were now joined by guitarist Jimmy McCulloch and drummer Geoff Britton. After recording “Letting Go,” “Medicine Jar” and “Love In Song” at Abbey Road Studios, Wings left London for New Orleans’ Sea Saint Studios, facing another unexpected line-up shift with Geoff Britton’s exit, recruiting Joe English to complete the album.

In tandem with Venus and Mars’ topping the charts worldwide, the album’s predecessor Band on the Run was continuing to build its global multi-platinum popularity. With a powerful new line-up solidified, Wings’ response to the overwhelming demand surrounding them was to launch the Wings Over the World tour — a 65-date run of shows starting in 1975 and stretching into October 1976.

The first Wings release for 2025, Venus and Mars follows 2024’s theatrical release of the rare Wings live-in-studio performance film One Hand Clapping and its accompanying album landing in the Best of 2024 lists of Billboard, Uproxx and the Los Angeles Times, as well as last year’s 50th anniversary edition of Band on the Run.

Looking ahead, the new book WINGS: The Story of a Band on the Run, will be published on November 4, 2025 – a landmark account of Paul’s triumphant musical reinvention in the 1970s and the rise of one of the decade’s most iconic and vital bands. More exciting celebratory Wings activity and announcements are soon set to follow.

GRAMMY-nominated, multi-platinum superstars Jonas Brothers return with new music today, releasing their latest single “Love Me To Heaven” out now. This morning on Good Morning America, Jonas Brothers shared an exclusive touring announcement—this summer, they’ll hit the road on their highly-anticipated “JONAS20: Living the Dream” Tour, performing in stadiums and arenas across North America. The tour’s title was inspired by the band’s journey of living their dreams over the last 20 years—from performing in local malls in New Jersey to selling out stadiums and arenas around the world. Fans can visit jonasbrothers.com for more info and updates, and stay tuned for the official tour routing and on-sale details to be revealed this Sunday!

Co-written with GRAMMY-nominated songwriter and their frequent collaborator Justin Tranter, “Love Me To Heaven” is an anthemic celebration of love. The uplifting and catchy track features an ‘80s-inspired beat accentuated by shimmering keys, upbeat acoustic guitar, and a stadium-size chant, highlighting the brothers’ vocals as they sing, “Could give me everything, but it ain’t enough. You can’t put a price on the human touch. I could be down, but you love me to heaven. Love me to heaven, babe!”

This Sunday, Jonas Brothers will celebrate 20 years of music, movies, memories, and more at the milestone JONASCON event, a one-of-a-kind fan experience taking place in their home state of New Jersey this Sunday, March 23rd at American Dream. The all-day event will feature live performances by the Jonas Brothers (featuring their original 2007 band), Nick Jonas, DNCE, All-American Rejects, Franklin Jonas, and more. The event will also include DJ sets, Q&A panels, fan activations, pop-up surprises, immersive experiences, and special guest appearances. A nod to their early days of mall performances, JONASCON will commemorate the band’s incredible two decades and show their appreciation to the fans who have been with them from the beginning.

2025 has seen the global pop icons collaborate with a slew of artists across genres, including Marshmello on “Slow Motion” and Rascal Flatts on their single “I Dare You.” Not to mention, Joe Jonas teamed up with Ashley Cooke on her song “All I Forgot,” and the duo performed a stripped-back version of the track for CMT Studio Sessions—watch HERE.

“Love Me To Heaven” sets the stage for more exciting announcements to come from Jonas Brothers very soon!

Standing out as one of the most successful groups of the 21st century, Jonas Brothers—Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas, and Kevin Jonas—have sold north of 20 million albums and counting, garnered two GRAMMY® Award nominations, earned 26 Billboard Hot 100 hits, logged three consecutive #1 debuts on the Billboard 200, and generated billions of streams. Among many accolades, they’ve recently claimed a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2019, they notably ignited the comeback of the decade with their Platinum-Certified Republic Records debut, Happiness Begins. It yielded the history-making, 5x-Platinum smash “Sucker,” which minted them as “the first group in the 21st century to debut at #1 on the Hot 100,” exploded as the “longest running #1 Pop Airplay Single of 2019,” and received a GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.” Bowing at #1 on the Billboard 200, Happiness Begins impressively scored the “biggest sales week of 2019 at time of release” and housed the Double-Platinum “Only Human” and Platinum “Cool.” The band supported the album with the worldwide “Happiness Begins Tour”—selling over 1.2 million tickets—and the Amazon Original documentaries Chasing Happiness and Happiness Continues. Along the way, the members simultaneously juggled prolific solo careers extending into television, film, and successful business ventures. In 2023, Jonas Brothers once again proved they are a constant force, embarking on a new era with the release of The Album, via Republic Records. The Album was produced by Jon Bellion and features hit singles “Waffle House” and “Wings.” In support of the new album and this new era for Jonas Brothers, they kicked off “The Tour” with two sold-out shows at New York’s iconic Yankee Stadium. “The Tour” included stadium and arena dates around the globe through 2024, resulting in the band’s biggest and most extensive tour to date. 2025 marks a special year for Jonas Brothers as they celebrate their 20th anniversary as a band. To kick off the year, Jonas Brothers recently released a new single “Slow Motion” with producer Marshmello and announced JONASCON, a special one-day event taking place in their home state of New Jersey in celebration of the band’s incredible two decades.

David Archuleta Steps Into a Bold New Era with Crème Brulée and Upcoming EP

0

Singer-songwriter David Archuleta returns with his first taste of new music and what is sure to be his most delectable pop confection of a song with his new single, “Crème Brulée” HERE  The sweet and sexy track is the first single off of David’s upcoming EP release out this summer and was written by David, Ryan Nealon & Robyn Dell’Unto and produced by Michael Blum.

David Archuleta is stepping into a bold new era with “Crème Brulée” – a playful and irresistibly flirty pop anthem that highlights his impressive vocal range and Latin roots like never before.

David blends English and Spanish in a way that feels as smooth and addictive as the namesake dessert, “All this time I’ve been singing Spanish covers, but I’ve never had that Spanish flare in my own pop music. I wanted to get in touch with my Latin roots, have fun, be flirty, and explore the sensual side of David.”

With infectious energy and a hint of Latin flair, “Crème Brulée” is a confident, fun-loving track that showcases David’s evolution as an artist—sultry, charismatic, and completely in his element.

With smooth, dynamic vocals and a hook that sticks like caramelized sugar, David teases the listener—giving just enough to leave them wanting more. “Someone was really after me and wanted everything from me right away, but you’ve gotta work for it if you want more from me. You may have had a taste that makes you go crazy (“yo te vuelvo loco” is “I make you crazy” in Spanish) but I’m not going to give it all just yet unless you’re really worth my time and it’s worthwhile for me.”  “Crème Brulée” has all the ingredients to be a pop anthem for the year and is too irresistible to listen to just once.

The official music video for “Crème Brulée” also arrives today HERE . The edgy and intricately choreographed dance video is directed by Nathan Kim, who has collaborated on projects for Charli XCX, David Guetta and Lady Gaga and features David embracing his love of the art of dance with the JA Collective dance trio.  “The “Crème Brulée” video was so much fun to make with the choreography and a new creative release for me. I’ve always loved moving to music and so the more I’ve taken choreography/dance classes I’ve found a better outlet to feel liberated and express myself. Working with Aidan, Jordan, and Nathan Kim introduced me to a new style that was really satisfying. Dancing brings me a newfound confidence, and makes me feel like I’m more in touch with my body and sensuality,” states David.

Whether with his viral Sabrina Carpenter moment on stage at Hudson Yards in NYC HERE or his recent cover of George Michael’s timeless hit, “Freedom” HERE  – David is clearly having a renaissance back into pop culture. To celebrate his new music, including “Crème Brulée,” he’s curated a spectacular live show experience with his upcoming AFTERHOURS dance party event where he is set to perform live in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 3 at The Bellwether alongside beloved House DJ @tysunderland and @alexandrajohnmusic.  Tickets available HERE

Since first stepping into the pop spotlight at age 17, David Archuleta has embodied the kind of genuine star power that can’t be manufactured. After years of dazzling audiences with his radiant personality and phenomenal voice—a journey that’s included turning out multiple platinum-selling hits, achieving global acclaim as a captivating live performer, and emerging as an undeniable fixture on the pop-culture scene—the Miami-born singer/songwriter experienced a major personal transformation that radically altered his identity as an artist. As shown on his recent single “Hell Together,” Archuleta has dramatically expanded the landscape of his songwriting and devoted himself to making pop music with equal parts uncompromising emotion and exhilarating impact.

With his latest triumphs including winning the 2024 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist and landing a book deal with a HarperCollins imprint for his forthcoming memoir, Archuleta first moved toward the unfiltered truth of his new material with a revelatory writing trip to Toronto in late 2022. “It was a really magical week where I started exploring topics I’d never discussed before in my music, like falling in love with a man and leaving my faith,” says the L.A.-based artist, who came out in 2021. “In a way it was scary, but mostly it was thrilling to do what would have seemed impossible to the person I used to be. I realized I don’t have to hide who I am anymore.” Although he’d displayed a heartfelt candor on previous releases like his eighth album Therapy Sessions (a 2020 album that opened up about his struggles with anxiety), Archuleta ultimately embraced an entirely new element of unbridled creativity in the writing of songs like his euphoric 2023 single “Afraid To Love.”

While Archuleta brought a sublimely dance-ready sound to songs like “Afraid To Love” and “I’m Yours” (a 2023 single whose video earned such illustrious awards as the Best Music Video prize at the Cannes World Film Festival), “Hell Together” centers on a stripped-back and soulful form of piano-driven pop. A gospel-inspired ballad that hit the top five on iTunes the day of its premiere in March 2024, the heartrending yet triumphant track took shape after a conversation with his mother following the publication of a People magazine article in which he discussed his faith transition. “I didn’t hear from my mom for a few days after the article came out and I was worried she was upset with me, because she was very devout and always saw the church as a place of healing,” he says. “But when we finally talked my mother said that she was stepping away from the church as well. She told me, ‘I don’t want to be somewhere that my children don’t feel loved and welcomed. If you go to Hell, we’re all going to Hell with you. We’re a family and we’ll always be there for each other, in good or in bad! ’”

Not only a powerful example of his newly elevated artistry, “Hell Together” is an unprecedented showcase for the tremendous vocal talents Archuleta has cultivated since childhood. Raised in Utah from the age of six, he first fell in love with music due to the influence of his mother (a salsa singer and dancer) and father (a jazz trumpeter). By his early teens he’d begun writing songs of his own, and in 2008 he gained massive fame as the first runner-up on the seventh season of American Idol. After making his debut with his double-platinum single “Crush,” he released a steady stream of albums and built an adoring following around the world, touring in such far-flung places as Asia and the Middle East. In a truly unexpected and audacious move, Archuleta left the music business in a moment of colossal success and headed to Chile to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for two years—then returned with a profoundly renewed sense of purpose as he dove back into his music career.

As he continues to unlock new levels of freedom in his music and beyond, Archuleta has found an endless source of inspiration in his growing passion for dancing, raves, and festival culture. “EDM festivals and dancing have been a new way of feeling a sense of community and togetherness that I was worried I would lose,” he says. “Feeling a oneness through music and dancing is so magical and therapeutic—it’s freeing and also creative. It has encouraged me to be more fearless and to not be afraid to express myself in more creative ways.” With his recent live experience including making his musical-theater debut in 2022 as the lead in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat—and joining the likes of Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, Grammy Award-winner Victoria Monet, and Lauv for the 2023 LOVELOUD tour—Archuleta routinely brings that open-heartedness to a high-energy live show that fosters an extraordinarily close connection with the crowd. Over the past few years, he’s also deepened his relationship with his fanbase by bringing his effortless charisma and disarmingly warm presence to social media platforms like TikTok, where he’s now spurred numerous viral videos with millions of views.

Naming such eclectic artists as Tracy Chapman, indie-pop singer/songwriter Maddie Zahm, and Nigerian musician Tems among his current inspirations, Archuleta is continuing to unveil more of his inner life in his songwriting. With more new music due out soon, he notes that uncovering his most authentic voice has involved finding self-assurance in unexpected places. “Growing up in the church, I was taught to stand up for my beliefs and share them with the world, which is exactly what I’m trying to do with my music,” he says. “Even though I stand for something else now, I still have that same level of conviction in what I do. I believe in being bold in my vulnerability and speaking the truth of who I am, so that hopefully people can come away from my songs feeling like they understand themselves, or others, or just life in general a little better than they did before.”

Ashnikko Unleashes Bold New Era with “Itty Bitty” and Lyric Video

0

Today sees the return of pop’s most notorious disruptor, Ashnikko, as they step into an unapologetic new era with their latest single Itty Bitty”, out now on Warner Records, alongside an accompanying lyric video.

Co-written by Ashnikko, Skyler Stonestreet, and Slinger, who also produced the track, “Itty Bitty” sees Ashnikko at her most erotic, artful and playful – with a crunchy, pulsating bassline and head turning lyrics this new single acts as a love letter to the night ahead. As Ashnikko embarks on this new musical output, she is embracing the joy and adventure in all things as she tumbles down the rabbit hole of life.

Speaking about the new single, Ashnikko explains, “There’s nothing more effective for healing a broken heart than an itty bitty teeny tiny little slutty skirt. The itty bitty skirt (or whatever your personal equivalent may be) is godly and should never be dismissed. Our bodies are our most intimate canvases – the ritual of getting ready to go out with friends is one of my favourites. We arm ourselves with trinkets, talismans and amulets, treating beauty and self-expression as a devotion to life itself.”

Ashnikko has achieved some huge milestones for an artist just one album into their career, surpassing over 4 Billion global streams and 700 million video views to date, with hit songs “Slumber Party,” “Daisy,” and “Stupid”. Following the release of her debut album, WEEDKILLER, in 2023 Ashnikko has spent the past 18 months touring across the globe including a headline show at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, a headline tour across Latin America and festival sets at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Reading & Leeds, Madcool, NOS Alive and more. Last month Ashnikko took to the road across Australia opening for Billie Eilish on her “Hit Me Hard and Soft” tour, performing at arenas across the country to tens of thousands of fans.

Michael Marcagi Announces ‘Midwest Kid’ EP and Tour Dates with The Lumineers and Rainbow Kitten Surprise

Continuing to make waves this year, breakout singer, songwriter and celebrated storyteller Michael Marcagi unveils an introspective and nostalgic new single entitled “Follows You” – listen HERE via Warner Records. It heralds the arrival of his upcoming Midwest Kid EP, arriving April 18.

About the song, Marcagi commented, “I’d say one of my biggest red flags is not dealing with my problems head-on. Constantly being on the road and touring can make it very easy for me to brush them aside and ignore the underlying issues. ‘Follows You’ illustrates that it doesn’t matter how far you run away, life’s personal challenges will always catch up. They’re just like your shadow. Sometimes you may not be able to see it, but it’s always following you.”

Just last night, Michael delivered an impassioned performance of recent single “Flyover State” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Watch it HERE.

“Flyover State” landed just last month, and has already generated over 1 million Spotify streams and counting. Not to mention, he dropped by CBS Mornings to perform it on Saturday Sessions.

Weeks before, Holler hailed “Midwest Kid” as a “nostalgic, uptempo earworm,” before noting, “Michael Marcagi continues to cement himself as one of the most exciting new voices in the folk landscape.”

“Midwest Kid” followed a trio of recent singles “Keep Me Honest,” “Good Enough”—which was co-written by Wesley Schultz of The Lumineers—and “Tear It All Apart.” Of “Tear It All Apart,” HITS professed, “Its melancholy verses give way to a rousing, redemptive chorus. The buzz on Marcagi is getting louder; he’s a true-blue story teller.” Flaunt Magazine observed, “Quite the lyricist, evoking an inspiring and relatable feeling – resonating deeply, and immediately , with those who hear it.”

Marcagi announced his arrival as a solo artist in 2024 with his Warner Records debut EP American Romance. Its Platinum-certified lead single, “Scared to Start,” reached #5 on the Billboard Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, amassing more than 4 billion TikTok views and nearly 800 million global streams in the process. This past June, Marcagi made his late-night TV debut performing the hit on Late Night With Seth Meyers.

Marcagi is currently on the road for a run of US headline dates. Shortly after wrapping up in the US, Marcagi will be supporting The Lumineers on their EU/UK arena tour in April and May, and then will join Rainbow Kitten Surprise across the Southeastern US in June.
