Post-Punk Icons Chameleons Announce New Album ‘Arctic Moon’ and West Coast Tour

0

Following the triumphant and invigorating year that Manchester’s celebrated post-punk legends had in 2024, CHAMELEONS are continuing their revved-up momentum with the announcement of their album ARCTIC MOON. Scheduled for release on September 12, 2025 via Metropolis Records, their new full-length comes on the heels of two EPs “Where Are You?” and “Tomorrow Remember Yesterday” that were released in the last year.

“Our new album Arctic Moon is finally finished and everything is being prepared for its release in mid-September,” beams vocalist/bassist Vox. “There’s an obvious maturity to the songwriting on this record. Those that are familiar with our past work will hear that this is a positive step forward in that respect.”

Accompanying the release of Arctic Moon is the announcement of a Fall tour to promote the album. “We’re all really pleased with how the album has turned out and we’re really looking forward to the challenge of performing songs from the new album live later this year when we begin the Arctic Moon Tour,” he says. “For the first time, we’ve been able to use real orchestral strings on a couple the songs, which were arranged and performed by Pete Whitfield at Real Strings in Manchester. They’ve given these songs a truly epic quality, and we can’t wait to perform them live. Danny [Ashberry], our keyboard player, is going to need all his skill to help bring this epic quality to the stage and we have every confidence that he can!”

Once the tour supporting Psychedelic Furs in the Summer concludes in mid-July, the band will return to North America a month later to support Arctic Moon. Starting in Seattle on September 26th, the tour hugs the West Coast featuring dates in Vancouver, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, before winding down in Phoenix.

Long cited as a hugely influential act having inspired the likes of Verve, Oasis, White Lies, The Slow Readers Club, Interpol, The Killers and Editors, among countless others, Chameleons have created a legacy created through their transformative musical catalog and intense and emotionally charged live performances. The band previously released four seminal albums: the widely acclaimed Script of the Bridge (1983), cited by many sources as a masterpiece way ahead of its time, its follow-up What Does Anything Mean? Basically!‘ (1984), Strange Times (1986), and Why Call It Anything? (2001).

With Arctic Moon adding to their storied catalog, the band propels forward musically while retaining the essence that made them iconic. “While we’re proud of the band’s legacy, we really wanted to forge something fresh while retaining that profound and imaginative quality we’re known for,” says Vox, reflecting on his band’s history. “We along with a few long-time listeners that are close to us that have heard the new album all agree that we’ve managed to do that and deliver a very strong record!”

With new music from Arctic Moon to be rolled out in the coming weeks, Vox and the band are excited for this next chapter in the story of Chameleons. “Everyone involved brought their ‘A’ game to this project and personally I can’t wait for people to hear it,” says Vox. “I’m sure we can generate a lot of momentum that’ll propel us forward and galvanize the band for the next album we do!”

Andre Chez Lewis Plays “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” Theme on Enchanting Celesta

You’ve heard the Mister Rogers’ theme before—but never like this. Andre Chez Lewis performs it on the celesta, the same otherworldly instrument from “The Nutcracker,” and it’s like childhood got wrapped in stardust.

Top 10 Signs Your Appliance Needs Repair

0

By Mitch Rice

Household appliances are essential for everyday comfort and convenience. When they start to malfunction, it not only causes frustration but can also lead to costly damages if ignored. From refrigerators and ovens to washers and dryers, each appliance has specific signs that indicate it needs professional attention. Over years of repairing various home appliances, I’ve noticed that early recognition of these warning signs often prevents more severe problems. In this article, I will share the top 10 common indicators that your appliance likely requires repair, helping you act before a minor issue becomes a major expense.

Top 10 Signs Your Appliance Needs Repair

1. Unusual Noises

One of the most common early signs is when your appliance begins to make sounds that it never made before. For example, common problems with dryers often include loud squealing or grinding noises caused by worn belts or faulty drum rollers. These unusual sounds usually signal worn bearings, loose components, or motor issues. Ignoring these noises can lead to bigger breakdowns or even pose safety hazards.

2. Inconsistent Performance

If your appliance is not performing as efficiently as before—like a refrigerator not maintaining a steady temperature or a dishwasher leaving dishes wet—this suggests internal faults. These inconsistencies often result from malfunctioning thermostats, clogged filters, or faulty sensors. During repairs, I frequently find dirty condenser coils or faulty heating elements as causes behind such issues.

3. Frequent Cycling On and Off

When an appliance repeatedly turns on and off in short intervals, it is a sign that something is wrong. This rapid cycling stresses components and increases energy consumption. For instance, a furnace that cycles too often might have a dirty filter or a failing thermostat. Addressing these problems early saves money on energy bills and prevents further damage.

4. Visible Leaks or Water Damage

Water pooling around appliances like washing machines, refrigerators with ice makers, or dishwashers is a clear warning. Leaks can stem from cracked hoses, blocked drains, or faulty seals. I’ve seen many cases where ignoring small leaks led to flooding and mold growth, which are far more expensive to fix than the appliance repair itself.

5. Burning Smells or Smoke

Any burning odor or visible smoke coming from an appliance is an urgent red flag. Electrical shorts, overheated motors, or clogged vents can cause this and pose serious safety risks. In such situations, turn off the appliance immediately and call a professional technician. Never attempt repairs on electrical faults yourself due to the risk of electric shock.

6. Controls Not Responding

Unresponsive buttons, dials, or digital displays indicate issues with control boards or wiring. This can make the appliance unusable or cause unpredictable operation. In my experience, moisture damage or power surges often cause these failures, requiring circuit board replacements.

7. Excessive Vibration or Movement

If an appliance vibrates excessively or shifts position during operation, it might have imbalanced loads, worn shock absorbers, or loose components. For example, washing machines often develop these issues after prolonged use. Repairing or replacing these parts restores stability and prevents damage to flooring or surrounding fixtures.

8. Increased Energy Bills

Sudden spikes in electricity or water usage without a change in habits can indicate appliance inefficiency. Faulty compressors, blocked filters, or leaking valves cause appliances to work harder than necessary. I often advise clients to monitor their bills and schedule a checkup if they notice unexplained increases.

9. Poor Cleaning or Heating Results

Dishwashers that leave residue or ovens that don’t reach the right temperature are classic signs of failing parts. Heating elements, spray arms, or thermostats might need repair or replacement. Through diagnostic tools, technicians pinpoint these faults and restore appliance functionality.

10. Age and Wear

Even without visible problems, appliances that have been in use for several years should be inspected regularly. Parts wear out over time, and preventive maintenance can extend the life of your investment. From my experience, regular servicing avoids sudden failures and costly replacements.

Recognizing these signs early is key to maintaining the safety, efficiency, and longevity of your home appliances. While some minor maintenance can be done by homeowners, complex repairs should always be entrusted to professionals. Modern appliances contain sensitive electronics and electrical components that pose risks if handled incorrectly. Superior Appliances Repair emphasizes the benefits of professional intervention: timely diagnostics, quality parts, and expert workmanship. Acting promptly when issues arise not only saves money but also ensures your household runs smoothly without unexpected disruptions.

How Gulliver’s Travels’ ‘Om.’ Album From 1971 Set the Stage for Plunderphonics

0

Gulliver’s Travels’ 1971 album Om. is often cited as a pioneering example of plunderphonics—a genre built on sampling and repurposing existing audio recordings. While some consider it the first of its kind, Om. undeniably laid the groundwork for what would later be expanded by artists like John Oswald, The Avalanches, and DJ Shadow. The album played a crucial role in shaping the genre long before it gained mainstream recognition.

Gary LeVox Taps Akon and De La Ghetto for Genre-Blending Summer Anthem “Hold The Umbrella”

0

Gary LeVox’s upcoming new song is going a little bit Country, a little bit Pop and a little bit Latin. Rascal Flatts’ frontman enlists Urban superstar Akon and renowned Reggaeton singer De La Ghetto to release the song of summer “Hold The Umbrella” on May 16.

LeVox and Akon hit it off following a chance meeting on the popular nationally syndicated music television show THE SONG. AKON became the missing link to the track that LeVox had been working on with mega producers Rudy Perez and Mickey Jack Cones. The song came to further life when AKON put his pen to paper to lend his writing prowess for the second verse and of course lent his velvety R&B vocals to the unfinished song. As the song was not quite complete, enter “The Latin Hitmaker,” and one of the founders of the Latin Grammys and co-founder of the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame, Rudy Perez, who put his unique global production sound in the record and asked Reggaeton favorite De La Ghetto to round out this international trifecta.

“I am so excited and blessed to be on the song with two of the greats! They brought this record to another level that is mind blowing. I’m grateful for both my boys jumping in on this thing with me. We are excited to drop this internationally and bring every genre, culture and people from around the world together through this song. It just makes you move and want to grab a coconut cup, fill it up but…’HOLD THE UMBRELLA.’ Hope you love it as much as we did makin’ it for ya,” shares LeVox.

“International artists as we are, we always look for that moment to where we can collaborate, because I’ve been trying to collaborate like this all my life and trying to find a way to fit Country into my repertoire,” says singer, songwriter and producer, AKON.

De La Ghetto shared the same sentiment, saying, “I’m feeling good. I’m excited and blessed just to be in the presence of these two gentlemen right here. You know, Gary, Akon, GZ, three worlds in one. It’s a beautiful thing.”

The trifecta visited the sunny skies of Hollywood, Florida, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino to film the music video in the world famous DAER nightclub and Bora Bora Lagoon in the shadow of the one-of-a-kind Guitar Hotel. Additional scenes were filmed on the super yacht “Stallion” in Fort Lauderdale Bay. The official video for “Hold The Umbrella,” directed by David “Doc” Abbott, transports the viewer to a good-vibes-only summer day. The release date for the music video will be revealed soon.

Keith Sheldon, President of Entertainment and Brand for Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming, states, “At Hard Rock, delivering diverse and world-class entertainment experiences is at the core of everything we do. We were thrilled to have the production of Gary LeVox’s ‘Hold The Umbrella’ featuring Akon and De La Ghetto at the iconic Guitar Hotel at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood; and we thank Big Machine Label Group and Marc Oswald for their choice to spotlight our resort by featuring music and talent that span genres and generations.”

Maren Morris Releases ‘D R E A M S I C L E’ Album Featuring New Single “too good”

0

Multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Maren Morris has officially released her new studio album, D R E A M S I C L E, available everywhere today via Columbia Records. Alongside the album release comes an official video for focus track “too good” which finds a cotton-candy twirling Maren performing the song and wrestling with the power of a burned-out relationship.

With her fourth album, Maren steps into a vibrant new era and delivers her most personal and sonically adventurous project to date. The 14-track album is a fearless exploration of heartbreak, transformation, growth, and finding beauty in what’s left behind – while still radiating with warmth, wit, and hard-won optimism that Maren’s millions of fans around the world have adored over the past decade. As the hurt drips away and a new chapter takes shape, her voice feels lighter, wiser, and sweeter than ever.

“D R E A M S I C L E is a love letter to myself,” Maren says. “we deserve to be loved the same way we worked so hard to love ourselves. we don’t have to stay stuck, we don’t have to feign being “fine” for fear of looking ungrateful, we don’t have to be thankful for crumbs…I broke a lot of cycles in my life to make this album and I didn’t back down on what I wanted to share. these songs capture what happens before, during and after loss, and though that path isn’t linear, it’s necessary to shift into the person I was always going to become. i’m so proud of my work here and I hope listeners find their healing in my own.”

Throughout seismic personal shifts, writing and recording D R E A M S I C L E became a lifeline for Maren. Collaborating with an eclectic lineup of producers – including Greg Kurstin, Jack Antonoff, Joel Little, Naomi McPherson of MUNA, Evan Blaire, and the Monsters & Strangerz – the album’s end result is a genre-fluid, emotionally rich collection that finds her in rare and radiant form.

The lead single, “carry me through,” is a stripped-back ballad laced with gospel and soul – a poignant reintroduction and a quiet revelation. “bed no breakfast” on the other hand is a cheeky, R&B-kissed anthem about dipping a toe back into dating – and setting boundaries with a grin. Elsewhere on the album, Maren ventures into new sonic terrain with “holy smoke,” a sweeping, string-laced closer that she likens lyrically to R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion.” On “cry in the car,”, she veers into bold, synth-driven territory. Each track stands on its own, yet the album’s message remains consistent, cohesive, and unmistakably hers.

Maren recently announced her highly anticipated 2025 global tour, The Dreamsicle Tour, which is set to kick off on July 12 and run through November 20 with over 40 stops across North America, Europe and UK. The tour will include a mix of headlining shows and marquee festival appearances throughout the summer.

Soul-Pop Artist Rhiannon Rodriguez Releases Introspective Debut EP ‘Bittersweet’

0

Rhiannon Rodriguez unveils her debut EP, Bittersweet, via Cosmica Artists. Led by the powerful focus track “If I Could” and its official music video-out now-the project marks a major artistic milestone for the 19-year-old multidimensional talent.

The video for “If I Could” features an intimate, emotionally raw performance that visually amplifies the song’s vulnerability and depth. Set in a dimly lit, stripped-down space, the video captures Rhiannon in a moment of reflection, letting the lyrics and delivery take center stage without distraction. It offers a powerful visual complement to the themes of longing and self-confrontation found throughout the EP.

Bittersweet is a deeply personal, five-track exploration of the emotional dualities that shape us-joy and grief, nostalgia and release, tenderness and rage. At its heart, the EP is about the loss of a formative friendship and the emotional aftermath that follows. Through confessional lyrics and soul-soaked melodies, Rihannon processes what it means to grow apart from someone you once considered family, while learning how to honor that history without being held back by it.

Released in April, “Lie I Can’t Deny” offered a haunting glimpse into heartbreak and self-preservation, anchored by Rhiannon’s lyrical depth and soul-soaked delivery. The accompanying live performance video-filmed in one take at Troublemaker Studios in Austin and featuring her father Robert Rodriguez’s band, Chingon-further highlighted her commitment to honest, stripped-down storytelling. Her debut single “Pink Lemonade” introduced a brighter energy: a nostalgic tribute to friendship, innocence, and fleeting moments of joy.

“I named it Bittersweet because every song holds a little of both,” says Rhiannon. “Even in the best memories, there’s a trace of sadness. Even in heartbreak, there’s growth. This EP is me learning how to live with that.”

Raised in a creative household filled with film, music, and visual art, Rhiannon Rodriguez brings a multidisciplinary approach to everything she touches. Her work merges bedroom pop, indie soul, and jazz-influenced vocals with immersive visual storytelling-crafting a world that’s entirely her own.
