River Rise Band Surge Forward on Bold New Album ‘Changing Seasons’

0

River Rise Band have released their third studio album ‘Changing Seasons’, a sonically dense and emotionally reflective record that marks a clear turning point in the band’s journey. Formed by Juliana von Mühlen on vocals, Márcio Arend on guitar, Marcelo Pesh on drums, and Ozéias Rodrigues on bass, the band lean into themes of transformation, loss, resilience, and renewal. The album explores the idea of cyclical movement in both life and art, where calm follows chaos but traces of what came before always remain.

Written lyrically by Juliana von Mühlen and composed, produced, and recorded alongside Márcio Arend in their home studio, ‘Changing Seasons’ expands the band’s sound through heavier textures, varied tunings, shifting time signatures, and a progressive edge. Arend’s guitars drive the record with intense riffs and unexpected rhythmic turns, locked tightly with incisive bass lines and explosive drumming. Juliana’s vocals move fluidly between force and restraint, cutting like a cold river current before softening into moments of release. Mature, ambitious, and deeply intentional, the album stands as a watershed moment for River Rise Band.

Mourning Coffee Shares Haunting New Single “One Last Time”

0

Emerging artist Mourning Coffee invites listeners into an introspective space with his new song “One Last Time,” a reflection on love, loss, and identity once the things that define us begin to disappear. Written in Warwick, New York, in the quiet stillness of a cemetery, the setting shaped both the mood of the song and its accompanying visual world. “Cemeteries have an eerie sense of yearning to them,” he shares. “I tend to wonder where the hopes and dreams of all those people went. What if a ghost is nothing but that burning desire refusing to let go? Something deep stirs within me when I think about that.”

Musically, “One Last Time” balances motion and melancholy, pairing an upbeat pulse with a haunting piano line that gives the track a cinematic weight. Dynamic percussion sits beside mournful instrumentation, mirroring the song’s core tension between sorrow and light. Lyrically, it explores the fleeting nature of love and life, underscored by the repeated line “Because we do not know when we will die,” urging listeners to hold tight to every moment. Recorded in Mourning Coffee’s home studio with friend and producer Sam Stauff, the track captures an intimate and fully realized vision, inviting reflection on who we are when everything familiar is stripped away.

Australia’s breakout indie-pop BFFs Betty Taylor are back with their highly anticipated new single ‘Sucker Punch’, continuing a rapid rise fueled by homegrown and international momentum. The track was co-written with acclaimed Australian producer Robby De Sa and arrives via Hello Gardener and Pals. Sun-soaked and heart-thumping, the song captures the rush of unexpected connection, pairing dreamy pop textures with a rush of emotion that hits when you least expect it.

“This is a story about swearing off dating and being content on your own, only to suddenly meet someone who changes everything. ‘It’s like BAM you meet someone out of nowhere and you’re like ‘oh wow you amazing’ but also ‘oh no, this wasn’t a part of the plan and I and don’t want to get my heart broken again,’” says Sophie Patrick. Fronted by Sophie alongside Kayla Smart, Claire Chittick, and Katie Ishaque, the band’s journey from backyard open mics to packed rooms worldwide has been fast and fearless. With millions of streams, major radio support, and standout performances across Australia, the US, and Europe, Betty Taylor continue to carve out their place as one of indie pop’s most heartfelt and exciting rising acts.

The Mendozaz Unleash Wild New Concept EP

0

Toronto pop-punk mainstays The Mendozaz return with their most ambitious and unhinged release yet, the eight-song concept EP ‘The Completely Fictional History of This Great Nation of Canada’. Fronted by guitarist-vocalist Jonny alongside Michael on vocals and bass and Dic on drums, the band double down on everything they do best: breakneck energy, razor-sharp hooks, and self-aware humor dialed to absurd extremes. Built to turn basements, bars, and festival stages into full-blown chaos, the EP captures the reckless spirit that’s made The Mendozaz a staple of Toronto’s punk underground.

Recorded between This Place Needs A Name and Arc Recording Studio with producer Matt Gauthier, the EP pushes their storytelling into stranger, louder territory, with help from members of Joan Smith and the Jane Does and The Meringues on its most profane moments. The video single “A Piercing Shriek of Death” sets the tone, inspired by what Jonny describes as “a very-true Canadian legend that we made up” involving ice fishers, great white sharks, and a blood-curdling scream that left their engineer in hysterics. Across all eight tracks, the EP barrels through tall tales, late-night disasters, and satirical folklore with feral guitars and gang-shout choruses, cementing The Mendozaz as one of the city’s loudest, funniest, and most fearless punk outfits.

Chrome Daphne Return With New Single “Stuck (On You)”

Toronto duo Chrome Daphne return with “Stuck (On You),” a hazy and bittersweet meditation on yearning, attachment, and the quiet ache of not being able to let go. Drifting on lush harmonies and hypnotic grooves, the track captures romantic melancholy with a dreamlike intimacy. “I had a relationship that ended very abruptly,” shares Ben. “We went from best friends to complete strangers overnight. There was a lot left unsaid, and I kept catching myself thinking ‘What if I ran into her?’… Eventually, that anxiety started colouring my day-to-day life.”

“There’s this interesting duality of love, obsession, and self-entrampment,” Ben continues. “There’s sweetness in the devotion, but also pain in the inability to move on. Parts of this song feel like a diary entry – I like the honesty and the vulnerability. It feels like I’m in the room with my therapist.” Chris brings that emotional tension to life through layered production that mirrors the push and pull at the song’s core. “It feels like trying to reach someone through fogged glass,” Ben adds. “There’s this cocoon-like warmth in the harmony, especially when the chorus hits.” Following earlier releases “There,” “Little Bit,” and “Location,” the new single further sharpens Chrome Daphne’s late-night, introspective voice.

Original Pairs Return With New Album ‘Surface Tension’

0

Toronto-based rock ensemble Original Pairs return with ‘Surface Tension’, their fourth studio album and a charged exploration of personal longing, existential dread, and the human condition. Anchored by Andrew Frontini’s resonant baritone, the record unfolds across ten striking musical parables, blending twangy, reverb-soaked guitars, bluesy organ lines, and retro-leaning synth textures from keyboardist Jon Loewen. With Lynda Kraar’s melodic bass and Lisa Logan’s precise, orchestral drumming, the album balances moments of haunting introspection with bursts of raw rock intensity.

“Surface Tension taught us to experiment and improvise. To lean into our musical backgrounds, drawing upon a lifetime of playing and listening to music,” says Frontini. “It’s always intense, trying to get a lot done in a very compressed time period. The whole album was recorded, including overdubs in five days.” At the heart of the album is “Curiosity,” which Frontini describes as “a cautionary tale about the dangers of curiosity – art’s catalyst that can make you crazy.” Recorded live-off-the-floor with no click tracks or digital shortcuts, ‘Surface Tension’ leans into imperfection and emotional honesty, stretching the band into their most ambitious and unflinching work to date.

Dalton Davis Shares Official Video for “Cows In The Front Yard”

North Carolina native Dalton Davis has released the official music video for his latest single “Cows In The Front Yard” via MCA Records and Republic Records. Directed by Ben Christensen, the clip brings Davis’s larger-than-life vision to the screen with a playful confidence that matches the song’s personality. “I always love working with Ben Christensen. He is able to bring my wild visions to life even better than I can imagine them myself,” says Davis. “I’m over the moon with what we were able to do with the ‘Cows In The Front Yard’ video and can’t wait for my mama and everyone else to see it.”

The release follows Davis’s recent signing to MCA/Republic Records and continues his rapid rise as one of country music’s most distinctive new voices. Raised on dirt roads in Gastonia, North Carolina, Davis’s sound reflects a singular upbringing shaped by rural life, time with touring gospel artists, and later mentorship from hip-hop engineers. That blend of influences fuels a style that carries outlaw grit and soulful swagger, building on earlier independent releases including “Sit Crooked,” “So Far So Good,” and “Blue Ridge Sky.”
