RockyGrass 2025 Brings Bluegrass Legends and Rising Stars Back to Planet Bluegrass

0

Much like its larger sister festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Planet Bluegrass’s RockyGrass is a homecoming for Festivarians far and wide. Not only do families and friends return year after year to dip their toes in the Saint Vrain River and enjoy the finest bluegrass and bluegrass-adjacent music the world has to offer, but world-class musicians also count the days until their return to the Planet Bluegrass Ranch to catch up and collaborate with friends on the legendary Colorado front range stage. They typically also dip their toes in the Saint Vrain River.

This year, over the weekend of July 25th-27th, RockyGrass returns to the ranch in Lyons, Colorado, just under an hour’s drive from the Denver International Airport. From bright-burning bluegrass stars like Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, The Infamous Stringdusters, AJ Lee & Blue Summit, and East Nash Grass; to time-honored fan favorites Sam Bush Bluegrass Band, The Del McCoury Band, and Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, there’s a little bit of something for each and every discerning ear attending RockyGrass. Peter Rowan is joining forces with Sam Grisman Project to present the music of Old & In The Way and 2023 RockyGrass Band Contest winners, The Fretliners, have made their way up the bill to perform a Saturday evening main stage set. In addition to main stage performances, RockyGrass Festivarians will have the chance to more closely interact with musical performances and workshops in the site’s beautiful 300-seat Wildflower Pavillion.

The full RockyGrass 2025 lineup can be found below. For all other information, please visit bluegrass.com/rockygrass. Limited tickets and camping passes for RockyGrass 2025 are still available. For all ticket and camping information, and to purchase tickets, please visit this link.

Nathaniel Rateliff and Gregory Alan Isakov Unveil “Flowers” Ahead of Madison Square Garden Show

0

Nathaniel Rateliff and longtime friend Gregory Alan Isakov today unveil a new song, “Flowers”—listen/share here. The pair will perform the duet on Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight, marking Isakov’s late-night television debut. The song lands in advance of Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats’ landmark headline show at Madison Square Garden on March 27, part of their milestone first-ever arena tour, with Isakov to support—tickets are available now here.

Rateliff and Isakov have known each other since the early days of their careers, rising through the local Denver-Boulder area music scene together. The pair initially crafted “Flowers” as a demo around Rateliff’s 2020 solo album And It’s Still Alright; however, the song remained unfinished for five years before the two revisited it recently.

Rateliff shares, “In the moment, because so much time had passed, it was hard to remember who had written what – our words becoming each other’s. Now, listening back, I remember lines Gregory offered and others I did, but it truly is a work of us together, as one.”

Isakov reflects, “My longtime friend Nathaniel Rateliff brought some pieces of a song by the farm a little while back and we finished it and tracked it late that night. We ran around the studio tracking instruments and ideas thinking we might re-track it all later, but just loved how the first take came out. Hope you love it as much as we do.”

The track was mixed and mastered with help from Patrick Meese, Mark Anderson and David Wilton.

Around the band’s recent Los Angeles show at Kia Forum, Rateliff & The Night Sweats held an initiative to help raise wildfire recovery funds for the Los Angeles area alongside supporting acts Waxahatchee and Iron And Wine. The bands donated VIP passes, a meet and greet experience and a signed Gibson guitar to 3 winners, with proceeds from the fundraising efforts going to the Musicares Fire Relief Fund. Donations can still be made to the fund here.

In addition, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, in partnership with Greater Good Music and Dream Center LA, purchased a mobile food pantry for those who lost their homes to the Los Angeles fires—truckloads of food, water and pet supplies are available on the streets of the city, with those living in hotels and shelters able to drive or walk up to receive meals.

Greater Good Music partners with music artists to give mobile food pantries to people in disaster zones—recent partnerships include Ringo Star and Def Leppard for those affected by the Los Angeles fires and Green Day, who donated emergency food to those affected by the Maui fires. Greater Good is currently feeding 1,200 people in Los Angeles weekly.

The second leg of the band’s first arena tour also saw stops at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun, and a slew of performances in Canada, including at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, with two nights in Boston at MGM Music Hall at Fenway remaining. The first leg of the arena tour saw electric performances at Red Rocks, Chicago’s United Center, and St. Paul’s Excel Center. Pioneer Press praised Rateliff’s “twangy voice exploding out of guitars and keyboards and horns into roaring, soaring choruses”—see more critical acclaim for the tour and full routing below.

The tour caps off another highlight year for the band, which saw two #1s: “Heartless” and “Call Me (Whatever You Like)” from their critically acclaimed fourth full-length studio album, South of Here, both topped the Adult Alternative Chart, marking their 7th and 8th #1s to date. The album is out now via Stax—listen here. See the band perform “Heartless” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert here and an excerpt from their special on the Howard Stern Show here.

Additionally, Rateliff has been appointed as Newport Folk Steward, the first artist to hold such a role at the legendary festival since Pete Seeger. The position holds a three-year term, which will see Rateliff serving as Steward actively for two years and advising the next recipient during a third transition year. Rateliff has chosen to devote his term to artist advocacy, fellowship and mentorship both at the Fort and beyond.

Billy Idol Announces Dream Into It with New Single “Still Dancing” and 2024 Tour

0

Rock legend Billy Idol is set for the release of his first full-length album of new music in over a decade. Dream Into It is out April 25 on Dark Horse Records and includes performance and co-writing contributions throughout from Idol’s longtime guitarist/collaborator Steve Stevens plus appearances by Avril Lavigne, Joan Jett and Alison Mosshart of The Kills. Dream Into It is produced by Tommy English; see below for a complete track list and album art, and pre-order the record HERE.

In anticipation of the forthcoming record, Idol is debuting the new single “Still Dancing” alongside a video directed by Steven Sebring.

“‘Still Dancing’ is really a reflection of my whole journey,” explains Idol. “From the punk rock period through to now. And I’m still looking towards the future, still living the life I set out to live.

“At the start of the song I’m recalling the early times in London, when I was living in squats or at friends’ apartments, all my belongings in a plastic bag. Everybody at home or work told you what you were doing was never going to happen. But punk rock gave me an opening. I was surrounded by people who loved the music as deeply as I did and you were going to throw caution to the wind, believe in what you were doing and grab on for dear life.

“As the song says, there have been many moments along the way where I’ve been self destructive. But what’s seen me through is that unflinching belief in the music that started all those years ago. That’s been the greatest gift of all.”

Alongside the upcoming album, Idol and Stevens were recently nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025. Fan voting is open through April 21 HERE, with inductees to be announced at the end of April.

Additionally, Idol is returning to the road for It’s a Nice Day To…Tour Again! Fellow superstar Joan Jett & the Blackhearts will join Idol on all shows. Produced by Live Nation, the run of arenas and amphitheatres kicks off at the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix on April 30 and includes stops at an array of storied venues including New York’s Madison Square Garden, Los Angeles’ Kia Forum, the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD and more. Tickets are available at billyidol.net/tour, see below for a complete list of dates. Five dollars from every ticket sold to the Los Angeles show at Kia Forum will be donated to the American Red Cross to support Southern California Wildfire Relief. Billly Idol will also personally match this donation.

Last year, Idol celebrated the 40th Anniversary of his landmark sophomore album Rebel Yell with a Deluxe Expanded Edition out now via Capitol/UMe. Idol also recently released the concert film Billy Idol: State Line, a Vertigo Live concert film documenting his April 2023 show at the famed Hoover Dam—the first-ever concert performed at the location. The film highlights the history and significance of the Hoover Dam and includes two unique sets of Billy Idol’s iconic hits: a full band concert at sunset with special guests that electrified and illuminated the surrounding Black Canyon, and an acoustic duo set on the roof of the powerhouse at the foot of Hoover Dam straddling the Colorado River, directly on the Nevada/Arizona state line.

For 46 years, Billy Idol has been one of the definitive faces and voices of rock’n’roll. Between 1977 and 1981, Idol released three albums with Generation X as their camera-ready frontman. In 1982, he embarked on a transatlantic/trans-genre solo career that integrated the bold and simple lines of punk and rock’n’roll decadence. With his longtime guitarist/collaborator Steve Stevens at his side, Idol has toured consistently around the world for the last ten years. Showing no signs of slowing down, Idol released both The Roadside EP in 2021 and The Cage EP in 2022 on Dark Horse Records, earning praise from fans and critics alike.

Zoe Ko Announces ‘not ur girlfriend’ EP with New Single “furr” and June Tour Dates

0

Rising Los Angeles-based artist Zoe Ko confirms her sophomore EP, not ur girlfriend, is set for release March 21. Pre-save/order EP HERE.

Today, she shares a further taste of the new music with “furr”. Listen/share HERE. Watch official video HERE.

“It perfectly encapsulates me and my relationship with clothing,” Ko details of the song. “Even though it’s silly and extra, it means a lot and came from a deep place.”

She continues, “No matter how sad, how self-hating I felt, if I threw on a fur coat and some sunglasses I felt invincible… ‘furr’ to me is about the mindset, the confidence, and self-love you can get from having a fire outfit on.”

“Furr” follows previously released songs “drop the man,” “lucky” and “Kiss My (Ah),” all featured on not ur girlfriend.

Ko will be joining Geordie Kieffer for select dates this June, including stops in ChicagoDetroit and Boston. See below for a complete list of dates.

Raised primarily in New York City and now living in Los Angeles, Ko’s music highlights the female experience and explores themes of authenticity and empowerment. She draws inspiration from a combo of “New York alt-rock and clubby sound, with 2000’s pop girl energy,” citing influences such as Britney Spears, No Doubt, CSS, Gwen Stefani and more. “It was so playful and unapologetic in a way that other eras weren’t,” she explains.

“The second I put my makeup on and my crazy fur coat and my sunglasses, I feel like I can be anyone and anything I want,” Ko details, going on to say, “My favorite thing to do in life is to laugh and be crazy. I want my music to also embody that totally.”

Beneath the fur and makeup Zoe’s songs inadvertently explore themes of what it’s like to be a young woman today—to be out and partying, bumping up against unspoken expectations, to have your own agency overlooked even when you’re in full control.

Ko released her debut EP Baby Teeth last fall to widespread praise. Popdust praises that the EP, “consists of five tracks to give you the perfect sampling of who Zoe Ko is as an artist—honest, funny, and edgy,” while Earmilk details, “With each captivating production offering a unique glimpse into Zoe Ko’s musical and personal evolution, the introspective yet vibrant EP offers us a sonic world steeped in healing and confidence as she beckons her audience to unleash their emotions, explore their innermost desires, and join her on this voyage of self-discovery.”

She followed up the EP with “EAT / DIRT” and “Touch Therapy,” which landed on a host of notable playlists as well as the cover of Spotify’s “Young & Free” and “SALT” playlists. Ko was also highlighted in Spotify’s “Fresh Finds Class of 2022” and Apple Music’s “New in Alternative,” amongst others.

The Dandy Warhols Return to the East Coast with ROCKMAKER and a Special NYC Performance

0

Following a triumphant 2024 with the release of their overwhelmingly critic-hailed twelfth studio album ROCKMAKER featuring Frank Black, Slash, and Debbie Harry, a packed-to-the-gills national tour, and a completely sold out West Coast 30th Anniversary-as-a-band string of dates, Portland’s iconoclastic and always surprising alt-rock band THE DANDY WARHOLS are returning to the road for a handful of East Coast shows that kick off on May 9th at Asbury Park, NJ’s Stone Pony and wrap with a handful of NYC dates at Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge.

Included in the dates is an intimate, acoustic-ish late afternoon performance on Saturday, May 17th at the sexy Two Fifteen Lounge in NYC’s Public Hotel, preceding their show the same evening at Bowery Ballroom. Loose and loungey, the cozy event will allow fans to sip signature cocktails and rub elbows with the band (and get autographs and pics too!) before and after a very special and rare stripped down performance.

Serving as a heady balance to their rousing studio albums, their blistering live shows are the stuff of legend. On reflection on last year’s Boston, MA show, the Boston.com hailed “the band wrapped its audience in a sonic blanket that had an almost hypnotic warmth at times.” Parklife DC said of their Washington, DC show, “the quartet maintained their classic psych rock roots but dove into even a grittier edge that borders on post-punk and even goth.” The Spill Magazine said about their Toronto show, “The Dandy Warhols electrified the Toronto stage with a performance that exuded sheer power and badassery right from the get-go… Their unparalleled talent and chemistry create an experience unlike any other.”

As a special treat for fans who have followed the band since the mid ‘90s and the newer fans who need to catch up, the band debuts their new video for “Love Thyself” from ROCKMAKER. A surreal journey that trails the band’s exciting and adventurous approach to music videos. he short film continues the band’s embrace of A.I. video technology as a tool to artistically and creatively render their vision, instead of re-constructing it.

Magnet Magazine was in attendance at the band’s hometown Portland, OR show on December 12, 2024 and was blown away, praising, “The Dandys have entered a kind of regency period as the young Rolling Stones of their generation: elegantly wasted, songs for days and as many ways to interpret them as you have small-batch bourbons behind the bar. They’ve earned their rightful spot at the altar of ‘great Portland music’ (hell, just ‘great music’ period), and tonight served as a two-hour-plus musical case study explaining why and how that happened. Dandys (still) rule, OK? Dig!” Dallas Observer chimed, “In the three decades that The Dandy Warhols have thrived and survived as a band, their art has never lost its luster.”

Forever changing the script on what a band should be, The Dandy Warhols continue to shift and evolve, never remaining stagnant or stale. Their latest album ROCKMAKER found the band exploring darker and more subterranean textures that opened their audience up to yet another vein of fresh blood: the post-punk world. Goth bible, Post-Punk.com characterized the album as “a dark-rock manifesto about this chaotic moment in American history,” while Brooklyn Vegan announced “a new, heavier direction for the band.” Musically, playing homage to the sounds of The Damned, The MC5, and the Stooges, vocalist/guitarist Courtney Taylor-Taylor explained, “ROCKMAKER is the manifestation of our desire to hear a record of heavy raw punk and metal guitar riffs, but has its own alley.”

Formed in Portland, OR, The Dandy Warhols combined the best bits of shoegaze, alternative powerpop and heavy rock with a wicked satirical pen,. Spawning alt-rock mainstays like “Bohemian Like You,” “Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth,” “Have a Kick Ass Summer (Me and My Friends)” and the synth-disco jam “We Used to Be Friends.”

The Dandy Warhols is Courtney Taylor-Taylor (vocals, guitar), Peter Holmström (guitar, keyboards), Zia McCabe (keyboard, bass, percussion), and Brent DeBoer (drums, backing vocals).

Karan Aujla and OneRepublic Unite for ‘Tell Me,’ Bridging Punjabi and Pop Worlds

0

Internationally acclaimed Punjabi powerhouse Karan Aujla and GRAMMY® nominated chart topping American pop superstars OneRepublic have released their highly anticipated single “Tell Me”, produced by preeminent South Asian producer Ikky today via Warner Music Canada / Warner Music India. “Tell Me” marks the first time that both artists have performed a song in both English and Punjabi. The track arrives with an official video featuring Bollywood superstar Disha Patani.

“Tell Me” debuted earlier today with an interview on Apple Music 1’s New Music Daily Radio Show with Zane Lowe featuring Karan Aujla and Ryan Tedder. The news of the collaboration between Karan Aujla and Ryan Tedder was revealed in an exclusive interview last week, in which Tedder said “Anyone who’s not paying attention to India or Southeast Asia right now, on a cultural tip, is asleep at the wheel.”

Karan Aujla’s rise from his upbringing in rural Punjab to his place atop the global music industry is a testament to his talent and unique blend of Punjabi folk, hip-hop, and R&B. His albums, BacTHAfuKUP and Making Memories, have solidified his international presence. Making Memories, released in 2023, generated billions of streams and culminated in a sold-out world tour that connected him with hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide. This album’s success highlights Aujla’s ability to resonate with a diverse global audience, a position underscored by his status as the most streamed Punjabi artist on Spotify globally in 2024. His influence has extended to Bollywood, where his song “Tauba Tauba” was featured in the film Bad Newz and quickly became a national hit in India. Aujla’s achievements have been recognized with prestigious awards, including his groundbreaking win of the 2024 TikTok JUNO Fan Choice Award, making him the first South Asian artist to win the fan-voted category. In 2025, Aujla has already received multiple JUNO Award nominations, including Single of the Year for “Winning Speech,” and has collaborated with GRAMMY-nominated chart-toppers OneRepublic on “Tell Me,” produced by preeminent South Asian producer Ikky, with much more in store for the year to come.

GRAMMY nominated OneRepublic, is composed of singer/songwriter and lead vocalist Ryan Tedder, guitarists Zach Filkins and Drew Brown, keys player Brian Willett, bassist and cellist Brent Kutzle, and drummer Eddie Fisher. Since the group’s debut, OneRepublic has amassed over 5 billion streams on Spotify alone. The band released their debut album, Dreaming Out Loud, in 2007, including the 20 million selling hit single “Apologize,” which shattered digital sales and airplay records worldwide and earned them a GRAMMY® nomination. The group’s 2009 sophomore album, Waking Up, featured the smash singles “All the Right Moves,” “Secrets” and “Good Life.” Shortly after in 2013, the band released their certified-platinum album, Native, which included the No. 1 hit and 41 million selling single “Counting Stars.” OneRepublic released Oh My My, their fourth album in 2016 and their fifth album, Human, in 2021. In 2022, OneRepublic released their smash hit “I Ain’t Worried,” which was featured in the blockbuster hit, Top Gun: Maverick and boasts over 3 billion streams. In April of 2024, the group released their smash hit single with David Guetta, “I Don’t Wanna Wait,” which has amassed over 130 million streams globally since its release. They also shared “Nobody (from Kaiju No.8),” which serves as the end credit song for the hugely successful manga-turned-Anime series Kaiju. No 8. Additionally, the group collaborated with Italian Electronic group Meduza and German artist Leony for the release of “Fire,” the official song for the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament. Following the release of these singles, OneRepublic debuted their sixth album, Artificial Paradise, in July, featuring hits like “Hurt” and “Sink or Swim.” In the fall they released the deluxe of the album, which included their collaboration with Jelly Roll and acoustic versions of their hit songs. Most recently, the group released their track, “Chasing Paradise”, with Kygo to rave reviews.

Canadian producer and composer Ikky has been a driving force for modern Punjabi music both at home and across the globe with his distinct brand of hip–hop, and pop sounds fused with traditional Punjabi music. Ikky has produced for some of the biggest names in the genre including Karan Aujla, serving as the executive producer on his worldwide hit album, Making Memories, and continues to work alongside Aujla on new music. Ikky is also the co-founder of 4N Records, which is a manifestation of his mission to showcase South Asian talent internationally. More recently, Ikky has been named Creative Director of 91 North Records, the celebrated imprint under Warner Music Canada with an intention to bridge the gap between east and west. On top of that he served as a host for Punjabi Takeover Radio on Apple Music, where he’s leading a new wave in Punjabi music. As a producer, he has garnered over 4 billion streams across the globe with such career-defining hits as “Diamond” with Gurnam Bhullar, which has more than 600 million YouTube views until date; “Baller” with Shubh, which has over 100 million streams on Spotify alone; and the Billboard Canadian Top 20 charting “52 Bars” with Karan Aujla. Ikky is one of the most exciting producers and artists as he continuously pushes the boundaries of music.

Ella Fitzgerald’s Sunshine of Your Love Turns the Psychedelic Sixties into Jazz Gold

Originally issued by MPS Records, it later found a second life on Verve Records in 1996.
