Today, Grammy-nominated global pop sensation Benson Boone returns with his new single “Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else.” Listen HERE via Night Street Records/Warner Records.

“Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else” marks the beginning of a new era for Boone, serving as his first release of the year. It arrives on the heels of his show-stopping performance of smash hit “Beautiful Things” at the 67th annual Grammy Awards earlier this month, where he was nominated for Best New Artist.

The chart-conquering track was the #1 most streamed song in the world last year, earning Boone the IFPI Global Single Award for 2024. Now certified 5x Platinum, “Beautiful Things” has garnered nearly 3.5 billion streams since its release last year. Featured on his acclaimed, Platinum certified debut album Fireworks & Rollerblades, the viral smash logged an impressive 7 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart, hit #1 at Top 40 and Hot AC radio, and vaulted to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also earned Boone two Billboard Music Awards for Top Billboard Global 200 Song and Top Billboard Global (Excl. US) Song.

Fireworks & Rollerblades also includes the Platinum certified hit “Slow It Down” and fan-favorites “Cry,” “What Do You Want,” and “Pretty Slowly.”

2024 was a record year for Benson. In addition to earning him his first Grammy Award nomination, he performed at the MTV Video Music Awards, where he won Best Alternative and received nominations for Best New Artist, Song of Summer and PUSH Performance of the Year. His impact has soared across the globe—last year also saw him perform at the MTV EMAs, the NRJ Awards, and the Los40 Awards, taking home trophies at every stop.

In June, he opened for Taylor Swift’s ERAS Tour in London at Wembley stadium, following a performance with Lana Del Rey at Hangout Festival in May. He also embarked on his fully sold-out Fireworks & Rollerblades Tour, playing shows across the globe.

With the release of “Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else,” upcoming performances at landmark festivals like Coachella and Governors Ball, and more new music on the way, Boone is on track for a record year in 2025.

SDN List: How Do You Get Listed and How to Get Removed?

0

By Mitch Rice

The Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List (SDN List) is a tool used by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to impose financial and travel restrictions on individuals, companies, and organizations engaged in activities that threaten U.S. national security or foreign policy. Being included on this list can have far-reaching legal and economic consequences.

What Is the SDN List and Why Does It Exist?

The SDN List is a public registry of entities and individuals subject to economic sanctions. Its primary goal is to prevent sanctioned parties from accessing the U.S. financial system, engaging in international trade, or benefiting from American resources. The sdn lists are maintained and updated regularly by OFAC and reflect U.S. efforts to combat terrorism, narcotics trafficking, weapons proliferation, and other serious threats.

Being listed means that all property and interests in property of the designated party within U.S. jurisdiction are blocked, and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from dealing with them. The SDN List is an essential part of the broader U.S. sanctions regime.

Who Gets Listed on the SDN List and for What Reasons?

Entities and individuals are added to the SDN List based on specific criteria outlined in executive orders, federal regulations, or congressional acts. Common reasons for designation include involvement in terrorism, cyberattacks, human rights abuses, or corruption.

If you’re wondering what does it mean when a person is sanctioned, it typically involves serious legal restrictions. A sanctioned person is barred from conducting financial transactions, signing contracts with U.S. parties, or even traveling through certain countries aligned with U.S. policies.

The listing process involves evidence collection, inter-agency collaboration, and legal findings. Although OFAC does not always disclose full details, affected parties may challenge their designation through legal channels.

Consequences of Being on the SDN List

The consequences of SDN designation are immediate and severe. Bank accounts are frozen, transactions are blocked, and business relationships collapse. Individuals may face reputational damage, denied visas, and frozen assets globally, as many financial institutions and governments comply with OFAC regulations.

In some cases, sanctions have extraterritorial effects—non-U.S. companies that deal with SDNs may face secondary sanctions or be cut off from the U.S. market. The legal and economic isolation caused by SDN status can be devastating for individuals and entire corporations.

How to Get Removed from the SDN List?

Delisting from the SDN List is possible but requires a formal legal process. Affected parties must submit a written request to OFAC, providing arguments and supporting evidence that their inclusion is no longer justified. This may involve demonstrating a change in behavior, cessation of the activities that led to the designation, or factual errors in the listing.

Those seeking removal from the sdn blocked persons list must be prepared for a lengthy process. OFAC reviews each petition carefully and may request additional information. Legal representation is highly recommended, as procedural missteps can delay or derail a request.

Legal Assistance for Removal from the SDN List

Successfully navigating the OFAC delisting process often requires specialized legal expertise. Sanctions law is highly technical, and the burden of proof rests with the petitioner. Attorneys experienced in OFAC matters can help draft persuasive arguments, compile relevant documentation, and engage with OFAC on behalf of the client.

In some cases, legal teams may also pursue litigation in federal court if administrative remedies fail. For comprehensive guidance, consult professionals with a proven track record in SDN removal cases.

Why Can Bold Sneakers Transform Your Tracksuit?

A great way to elevate your black tracksuit is look for some bold sneakers. Choose Sneakers with Bright Colors or Designs Metallic sneakers are pretty stand-out, too. The idea is to elevate your spider hoodie without competing for its attention. Accessories are a great opportunity to reflect your personal taste. But you don’t want to overdo it, so keep it simple too many accessories can make your outfit feel cluttered. For a contemporary touch, stick to a smart, minimal style.

How to Achieve a Polished Look with a Monochrome Outfit?

The one-colour look is easy but chic. For a sharper head-to-toe comfortably casual look, wear your black tracksuit with black sneakers and other accessories. Mixing fabrics makes the outfit more interesting and offers a fashion-forward look. It’s a nice way to customize your black tracksuit.

Opt for simple pieces, such as a chain necklace or thin bracelet. You can also wear rings or earrings for additional shine. Do not wear too much bling that will clutter your oufit. Instead, it’s about layering a few key pieces to lend some shine. The trick is to keep it simple and allow the jewelry to enhance your sp5der tracksuits. Black have an undeniable cool factor, but you want to make sure you bring a touch of elegance and personality to them with the right jewelry.

Why a Graphic Tee Can Add Personality to Your Outfit?

A vintage band tee or a tee with a logo can be fun. Pair-up your tracksuit with your favorite design shirt and you will find yourself in a blend of simplicity and unique look. You can even color block it with your shirt. A graphic tee provides the depth and interest to your ensemble. When you feel unconfident, your outfit will shine through all of that, and that’s what really makes your outfit. It allows you to express yourself. Introduction

Creating the perfect home entertainment system is a dream for many, but it’s easy to fall into common pitfalls that can ruin the experience. Whether you’re a cinephile, a gamer, or simply someone who enjoys binge-watching your favourite shows, setting up your system correctly is crucial. This guide will walk you through the key steps to avoid mistakes and ensure your setup is both functional and visually appealing.

Planning Your Space

Before you even think about buying equipment, take the time to plan your space. Measure the room, consider where your furniture will go, and think about how you’ll use the system. Will it be primarily for movies, gaming, or casual TV watching? Understanding your needs will help you make better decisions about the equipment and layout.

A common mistake is failing to account for viewing angles and distances. Your TV should be positioned at eye level when seated, and the distance from the screen should be proportional to its size. For example, a 55-inch TV is best viewed from about 2 to 3 metres away.

Choosing the Right Equipment

Investing in the right equipment is essential, but it’s easy to overspend or buy items you don’t need. Start with the basics: a high-quality TV, a sound system, and a reliable media player. Don’t forget to consider compatibility between devices. For instance, ensure your soundbar or AV receiver supports the same HDMI standards as your TV.

Avoid the temptation to buy the latest gadgets without researching their practicality. A 4K Blu-ray player might sound impressive, but if you primarily stream content, it could be an unnecessary expense.

Proper TV Aerial Installation

One of the most overlooked aspects of setting up a home entertainment system is the TV aerial installation. A poorly installed aerial can lead to weak signals, pixelation, or even a complete loss of channels. Ensure your aerial is positioned correctly, ideally pointing towards the nearest transmitter. If you’re unsure, consider hiring a professional to handle the installation.

Additionally, check the quality of your coaxial cables and connectors. Cheap or damaged cables can significantly impact signal strength.

Cable Management Tips

Nothing ruins the aesthetic of a home entertainment system faster than a tangled mess of cables. Invest in cable management solutions like trunking, clips, or sleeves to keep everything neat and tidy. Label your cables to make future adjustments easier, and consider using wireless options where possible, such as Bluetooth speakers or HDMI extenders.

If you’re mounting your TV on the wall, use a cable cover to hide the wires. This not only looks cleaner but also reduces the risk of tripping hazards.

Optimising Audio Settings

Great visuals are only half the battle; sound quality is equally important. Take the time to calibrate your audio settings to suit your room’s acoustics. If you’re using a surround sound system, ensure the speakers are positioned correctly. The front speakers should be at ear level, while the rear speakers should be slightly behind the seating area.

Don’t forget to adjust the equaliser settings on your TV or sound system. Boosting the bass can enhance action scenes, while tweaking the treble can make dialogue clearer.

Avoiding Overcrowding

It’s easy to get carried away with gadgets and accessories, but overcrowding your entertainment unit can lead to overheating and poor ventilation. Leave enough space around your devices to allow for proper airflow. If you’re using a closed cabinet, consider installing a small fan to prevent heat buildup.

Keep your setup minimalistic and functional. Too many devices can make the system confusing to use and detract from the overall experience.

Lighting Considerations

Lighting plays a significant role in creating the perfect viewing environment. Avoid placing your TV opposite a window, as glare can make it difficult to see the screen. Instead, use blackout curtains or blinds to control natural light.

Consider adding ambient lighting behind your TV or around the room. LED strip lights can create a cinematic effect and reduce eye strain during long viewing sessions.

Calibrating Your Display

Out-of-the-box settings on most TVs are rarely optimal. Take the time to calibrate your display for the best picture quality. Adjust the brightness, contrast, and colour settings to suit your room’s lighting conditions.

If you’re unsure how to do this, many TVs come with built-in calibration tools or presets for different viewing modes, such as ‘Cinema’ or ‘Sports’. Alternatively, you can use a calibration disc or hire a professional to fine-tune your settings.

Future-Proofing Your Setup

Technology evolves rapidly, so it’s important to future-proof your home entertainment system. Choose devices with the latest connectivity options, such as HDMI 2.1 or USB-C, to ensure compatibility with future upgrades.

Consider investing in a smart TV or streaming device that receives regular software updates. This will help keep your system up-to-date with the latest features and apps.

Wrapping It All Together

Setting up a home entertainment system is more than just plugging in a few devices. It requires careful planning, thoughtful equipment selection, and attention to detail. By avoiding common mistakes like poor cable management, incorrect speaker placement, or inadequate lighting, you can create a setup that’s both functional and visually stunning.

Remember, the goal is to enhance your viewing experience, not complicate it. Take your time, do your research, and enjoy the process of building a system that’s tailored to your needs. With the right approach, your home entertainment system will be the envy of your friends and family.

This guide should serve as a comprehensive resource for anyone looking to create the ultimate home entertainment setup. Happy viewing!

5 Surprising Facts About Depeche Mode’s ‘Violator’

0

When Violator dropped on March 19, 1990, it reshaped electronic music with Depeche Mode at the forefront. With its dark atmospheres, pulsating beats, and some of the most iconic singles in their catalog, the album became an instant classic. But beneath the synth-heavy sound and melancholic lyrics lie hidden stories that few fans know.

1. “Enjoy the Silence” Was Originally a Ballad

It’s hard to imagine Depeche Mode’s most iconic song as anything other than the danceable, synth-driven anthem it became, but “Enjoy the Silence” started out as a slow, mournful ballad. Martin Gore originally wrote it as a soft, stripped-down piece, but Alan Wilder convinced the band to rework it into something more uptempo. That decision not only transformed the track but also became a defining moment for Violator. The song would go on to win Best British Single at the Brit Awards and solidify Depeche Mode as stadium-filling superstars.

2. “Personal Jesus” Was Inspired by Priscilla Presley’s Memoir

One of the album’s most famous tracks, “Personal Jesus,” wasn’t just a catchy, blues-infused departure from the band’s usual synthpop sound—it was deeply rooted in personal inspiration. Martin Gore read Elvis and Me, Priscilla Presley’s memoir about life with Elvis, and was struck by the idea of a lover being idolized as a godlike figure. That theme turned into one of the most recognizable Depeche Mode songs ever, with a riff that has since been covered by artists like Johnny Cash, Marilyn Manson, and Def Leppard.

3. The Album Title Was a Joke

With a name like Violator, you might expect the album to be an aggressive, heavy metal assault. But according to Martin Gore, the title was a joke—an ironic nod to the over-the-top, tough-guy imagery of rock and metal bands at the time. They wanted the most absurdly dramatic title they could come up with, fully expecting people to misunderstand the humor. Turns out, the joke was on them: Violator became their most critically acclaimed and commercially successful album.

4. Over 100 Different Riffs Were Tested for “Policy of Truth”

While “Policy of Truth” stands out as one of Violator’s most polished and hypnotic tracks, the process of perfecting it was anything but smooth. Alan Wilder revealed that the band experimented with over 100 different riffs before finally settling on the now-iconic slide guitar melody. They even recorded multiple versions of the track at different studios, constantly reworking it until they landed on the perfect groove. The result? A track that remains a staple in Depeche Mode’s live shows to this day.

5. Flood Helped Redefine Depeche Mode’s Sound

Before Violator, Depeche Mode’s albums were produced in a meticulous, heavily programmed way. But for this record, they brought in legendary producer Flood, who encouraged a more spontaneous approach. Instead of rigid pre-production sessions, Flood pushed the band to experiment in the studio, layering in live instrumentation and unexpected sonic textures. This freer, more organic method gave Violator its cinematic depth and emotional resonance, setting the blueprint for the band’s future work.

More than three decades later, Violator remains the defining moment of Depeche Mode’s career. It bridged the gap between their underground electronic roots and mainstream superstardom, influencing countless artists across genres. Whether it’s the eerie swagger of “Personal Jesus,” the hypnotic pulse of “Enjoy the Silence,” or the brooding atmospheres of deep cuts like “Halo,” Violator still sounds as fresh today as it did in 1990.

5 Surprising Facts About Johnny Cash’s ‘At Folsom Prison’

0

Few live albums have captured the raw energy and cultural significance of Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison. Released in 1968, this record not only revitalized Cash’s career but also cemented his place as one of America’s most authentic and rebellious musical voices. While many know the album’s prison setting and its iconic tracklist, here are five fascinating facts about At Folsom Prison that add even more grit to its legendary status.

1. The Governor of California (And Future President) Showed Up at Rehearsals

In the days leading up to the Folsom Prison concert, Johnny Cash and his band were rehearsing at the El Rancho Motel in Sacramento. On January 12, 1968, California’s then-governor Ronald Reagan happened to be at the same motel for an after-dinner speech. Upon hearing that Cash was in town preparing for his prison concert, Reagan paid him a visit, offering words of encouragement. The future president’s unexpected drop-in added an unusual political twist to the historic event, proving that Cash’s reputation extended far beyond country music circles.

2. A Prisoner’s Song Made the Setlist at the Last Minute

One of the most memorable moments on the album is Cash’s performance of “Greystone Chapel,” a song written by inmate Glen Sherley while serving time at Folsom. The prison’s recreation director passed a tape of the song to Reverend Floyd Gressett, a preacher with close ties to Cash. When Gressett introduced the track to Cash the night before the concert, he was so moved by the song’s message that he learned it on the spot and added it to the setlist. It became a defining moment of the performance—Cash, singing the words of a prisoner to a captive audience, blurring the line between performer and listener.

3. Columbia Records Wasn’t Interested in Promoting the Album

Despite Cash’s growing reputation as a live performer, Columbia Records didn’t initially see At Folsom Prison as a priority. At the time, the label was focused on its pop stars and wasn’t convinced a prison-recorded album would sell. As a result, Columbia offered minimal promotional support when the album was released. However, radio stations picked up on “Folsom Prison Blues”, and word of mouth spread quickly, leading to a massive commercial success. The album eventually went triple platinum, proving that authenticity and raw storytelling resonated more than industry marketing strategies.

4. The Crowd’s Reactions Were Carefully Orchestrated

One of the most striking elements of At Folsom Prison is the energy of the crowd—cheers, laughter, and applause that make the album feel almost cinematic. However, while the inmates were genuinely excited, the audience’s reactions were carefully directed. Before Cash took the stage, MC Hugh Cherry coached the prisoners on how to respond, instructing them to hold their applause until Cash introduced himself. This deliberate staging helped create one of the album’s most famous moments—the electric silence before Cash’s first words, “Hello, I’m Johnny Cash.” It was a theatrical touch that made the recording all the more legendary.

5. The Album Was Censored After a Tragic Event

Just a few weeks after the album’s release, tragedy struck. On June 5, 1968, Senator Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated in Los Angeles. In the wake of the national mourning, radio stations pulled “Folsom Prison Blues” from rotation because of the infamous lyric: “I shot a man in Reno / Just to watch him die.” Columbia Records responded by ordering producer Bob Johnston to create a censored version of the song, removing the line entirely. Cash fought against the decision, but the edited version was reissued anyway. Despite this, the album’s impact remained untouched, and it continued climbing the charts, cementing its place in history.

More than just a live album, At Folsom Prison was a moment of cultural rebellion. Johnny Cash gave the inmates a voice, reinforcing his lifelong empathy for the marginalized. The album’s success catapulted Cash back into the spotlight and set the stage for future prison recordings, including At San Quentin. Decades later, the album remains one of the most celebrated live recordings of all time, a raw and powerful testament to music’s ability to connect with the forgotten corners of society.

Brandon Woody Announces For The Love Of It All, a Soul-Stirring Debut on Blue Note Records

0

For The Love Of It All is more than trumpeter and composer Brandon Woody’s recording debut; it is a manifesto, a ritual, a hymn to the enduring power of love. Joined by his band Upendo — Troy Long (piano, organ, Rhodes, keyboards), Quincy Phillips (drums), and Michael Saunders (bass) with special guests Imani-Grace (vocals), Vittorio Stropoli (aux synth) — the Baltimore-born and based artist extends an invitation into communion with a striking body of work. The album will be released May 9 on Blue Note Records and is available for pre-order now on Blue Note Store exclusive color vinyl, black vinyl, CD, and digital download.

Woody describes “Real Love, Pt. 1,” the album’s lead single, as “the essence of the group.” Co-written by Long, it’s a rare piece that balances individuality and community, leaving listeners with a visceral sense of what For The Love Of It All really means. This track is where they empty themselves entirely, leaving traces of their humanity — sweat, laughter, and tears — pressed into the sound. It is a bold testament to the trust, interplay, and love that binds them. The song opens with conviction, each instrument claiming its space with a distinct and purposeful voice. Stropoli joins the quartet on aux synth, an electrifying layer that expands the piece. Woody’s trumpet rises, fierce and unyielding, as Long and Phillips fold in rhythmic spirals beside him—delicate yet deliberate.

For The Love Of It All surges with love, not as a fleeting sentiment but as an elemental force channeled through sound. Each song emits a lineage of perseverance, an inheritance of resilience passed down through intuitive memory. This project sews a tapestry of music that holds space for the unseen — love in its purest form: communal, generational, and radical. It is a reckoning with history and a strong gesture toward the future, where the boundaries between emotion and sound dissolve, leaving only the raw, unmediated truth of connection.

With his debut on Blue Note Records, Woody positions himself as both an innovator and a griot, balancing technical mastery with a reverence for his roots. This album anchors itself in the past while reverberating forward, tethering listeners to something larger than themselves. In every track, love is palpable, not idealized, but complex, textured, and human. This is music that carries, uplifts, and insists that survival is its own form of artistry, powered by the knowledge that love, in all its dimensions, is what binds us across generations and geographies.

Jordan Rakei Announces ‘The Loop (Deluxe)’ with Three New Tracks and Live Royal Albert Hall Performances

0

Revered multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer Jordan Rakei has today announced a deluxe version of his latest studio album The Loop, which features three new tracks: ‘Celebrate’ featuring STUTS (which has already reached 2 million global streams), ‘The Seize’ and today’s lead single, ‘Talk Talk Talk’, which was recorded at the iconic Abbey Road studios during Jordan’s year-long residency. Speaking on the track, Jordan Rakei explains: “This song is simply about talking about your problems with people you trust. It was a really healthy exercise to let stuff go. Now I’m able to process stuff a lot better.”

The Loop, Rakei’s fifth album saw Jordan achieve his first Top 40 album, be named Abbey Road’s first ever Artist In Residence, play a coveted slot on Glastonbury’s West Holts stage, sell out his biggest-ever shows globally, curate his very own BBC Prom, and finish the year of 2024 with 2 stellar sold-out nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall. As well as the previously unheard singles, The Loop (Deluxe) version also features live versions of ‘Trust’, ‘Hopes and Dreams’ & ‘Friend Or Foe’ from the Royal Albert Hall shows.

Released last year via Decca (and Verve Forecast in the US), The Loop marked a new chapter in Jordan’s career that coincided with a number of profound changes in his personal life. It’s an extraordinary record, not least for its sheer, breathtaking ambition whilst retaining the experimental, off-kilter vibe he’s synonymous with. Containing singles ‘Flowers’‘Freedom’‘Learning’, ‘Friend or Foe’ and ‘Trust’, the album showcased his typically bold production style alongside spectacular orchestral arrangements and haunting choirs, hypnotic beats and an Odyssean-style narrative that charts a course through times of darkness and positivity.

Recorded at RAK Studios, self-produced and mixed by Ben Baptie, fans and critics will note how on The Loop, Rakei has stepped away from the DIY sound he was once known for (and still loves). He grew up listening to artists such as Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Curtis Mayfield and D’Angelo and having returned to immersing himself with their music recently, he knew he didn’t want this new album to sound like it was made in a bedroom. Inspired by a Bill Withers documentary, in which his hero ignored the contempt of his peers for daring to reach higher, Rakei set about assembling a crack team of musicians to fulfill his own crystal clear ambitions for this album.

Speaking on the deluxe version, Jordan explains, “This deluxe album is special for me, because it features two new songs that hold a special place in my heart. So happy for them to be coming out in the world. It also features three live performances from my shows at The Royal Albert Hall last year which were some of my favourite live performances throughout the year of touring this record!”

The legendary music of Canada’s most beloved and influential rock bands, The Tragically Hip, will come to life in a brand-new musical from producers David and Hannah Mirvish and Michael Rubinoff. With songs from the iconic catalogue of The Tragically Hip and a book by Brian Hill and Ahmed Moneka, It’s a Good Life If You Don’t Weaken tells the story of a family in turmoil facing the revelation of long-guarded secrets, and the resilience they find through a group of friends in the micro-mosaic of Toronto’s Kensington Market.

It’s a Good Life If You Don’t Weaken will immerse audiences in a powerful original story integrated with The Tragically Hip’s timeless hits, capturing the raw energy, heartfelt lyrics, and unmistakable spirit that have made them an essential part of Canada’s musical identity.

It’s a Good Life If You Don’t Weaken will have its world premiere in 2026 at Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton, Ontario, under the leadership of Artistic Director Mary Francis Moore, in partnership with Thousand Islands Playhouse, led by Managing Artistic Director Brett Christopher. The show will be further developed in partnership with The Creative School Chrysalis at Toronto Metropolitan University. Full details will be announced at a later date.

“Some of the country’s best theatre makers have come together to create a show that honours our music,” said The Tragically Hip. “It’s exciting to see our songs interpreted in a new way that will continue to connect audiences, while supporting a compelling story for the theatrical stage.”

“The Tragically Hip are a foundational part of Canadian culture and music, to be able to support a musical using their music and telling a wonderfully Canadian story is such an exciting opportunity,” said David and Hannah Mirvish.

“The Tragically Hip’s music has had a huge impact on me and millions of other lives, transcending generations and people from all walks of life,” said Rubinoff. “This musical is an opportunity to not only honour the band’s legacy but also celebrate their glorious music. It is a dream project.”
