Johnny Winterās āLive At The Fillmore East, 1970ā Arrives with Unreleased Tracks September 26
In 1970, at the age of 26 and at the peak of his powers, the remarkable Texan guitarist Johnny Winter performed a legendary set at New Yorkās Fillmore East, accompanied by his bandmates ā guitarist Rick Derringer and bass player Randy Jo Hobbs (both of āHang On Sloopyā 60s teenage sensations The McCoys) plus drummer Bobby Caldwell. On September 26, Floating World Records will release āLive At The Fillmore East, 1970ā on vinyl LP & CD, an album that contains five previously unreleased tracks from the same show and in-depth sleeve notes by respected music writer Alan Robinson, pre-order here.
āLive At The Fillmore East, 1970ā contains two tracks from the 1971 concert album āLive Johnny Winter Andā ā āGood Morning Little School Girlā and āItās My Own Faultā- plus five previously unreleased tracks from the same show, including Derringerās āRock And Roll, Hoochie Kooā, which Derringer himself would record on his 1973 solo debut album āAll American Boyā. Derringer and Winter had contrasting guitar styles that sparked off one another, and the vitality of their playing on this album feels like a fitting tribute to Derringer, who passed away in May this year at the age of 77.
By 1971 Winterās growing heroin addiction meant he had to put his career on hiatus whilst he went into rehab, and he wouldnāt release anything new until his classic, Rick Derringer-produced āStill Alive and Wellā album of 1973.
Born in Beaumont, Texas in 1944, with the rare condition Albinism, Johnny Winter was a guitarist, songwriter, and record producer best known for his high-energy blues rock albums and live performances. He also produced three Grammy Award-winning late career albums for blues singer and guitarist Muddy Waters. In 1988, Winter was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame, and in 2003 he was ranked 63rd in Rolling Stone magazineās list of the ā100 Greatest Guitarists of All Timeā.
Johnny Winter died in Zurich, Switzerland, on July 16th, 2014, of a combination of emphysema and pneumonia. Writing in Rolling Stone magazine, after Winterās death, David Marchese said, āWinter was one of the first blues rock guitar virtuosos, releasing a string of popular and fiery albums in the late Sixties and early Seventies, becoming an arena-level concert draw in the processā ⦠[he] āmade an iconic life for himself by playing the bluesā.
This album serves to remind the listener of what exactly the Johnny Winter reputation was founded upon; incredible guitar playing virtuosity matched by impassioned vocals and marbled through with an indelible love of and feeling for The Blues. His influence lives on.

KT Tunstall Celebrates 20 Years of āEye To The Telescopeā with Deluxe Anniversary Reissue
Multi-platinum, BRIT Award-winning and Grammy-nominated artist KT Tunstall announces the 20th anniversary reissue of her iconic debut album,Ā Eye To The Telescope, due for release in exclusive collectorās edition vinyl and 2 CD and 4 CD formats, featuring B-sides and exclusive live tracks, on October 31st. Included on the album and to mark this major milestone, fans will be treated to the first-time release of a long-lost gem: the previously unheard title track, āEye To The Telescope,ā available exclusively now, to coincide with the official reissue announcement.
Written by Tunstall and produced by long-time collaborator Martin Terefe, the song lay unfinished in the vaults for two decades until, inspired by the forthcoming anniversary, Tunstall decided to revisit and finish it.
Originally released at the tail end of 2004, the Eye To The Telescope album catapulted Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall into the global spotlight, fueled by an unforgettable live debut on Later⦠with Jools Holland ā a career-defining moment that saw Tunstall seize a last-minute opportunity to fill in for rapper Nas, and perform with nothing but her guitar, loop pedal, and tambourine. Her performance of āBlack Horse and the Cherry Treeā became instantly iconic, one of the first examples of a āviral momentā and launched a record that features several hit singles, which was given its full push in 2025 on the back of that moment. The album contained several hits, including the massive āSuddenly I Seeā ā a song that became inextricably linked to pop culture history with its full-length feature in the opening scene of The Devil Wears Prada, forever associating both the song and Tunstall with a ubiquitous zeitgeist moment.
From her fearless solo looping to her emotive, genre-spanning songwriting, Tunstall has never been one to stand still creatively. Recipient of several awards, most recently the prestigious Ivor Novello Award for outstanding Song Collection, Tunstall has continued to tour the world and release eight critically acclaimed albums.
As many have pointed out, Tunstall is a relatively rare example of a small but exclusive line of female singer-songwriters, either from or adopted by this country, whose guitar playing, both acoustic and electric, is unapologetically front and centre; think Chrissie Hynde, PJ Harvey, and Tunstall collaborator Suzi Quatro.
A highlight of the anniversary rerelease is the addition of three new songs, including future single āCancerian, Anything At All,ā as well as the title track āEye To The Telescope.ā These songs were started during the original writing sessions and left unfinished until this year. These three new tracks will also be released as their own stand-alone digital EP- The Stargazer EP, which will contain the original versions as well as the āStillā acoustic versions, on October 31st. The first taste is the song āEye To the Telescope,ā which features original string arranger David Davidson returning to add lush orchestration, alongside a special performance from acclaimed musician Shabaka, whose wooden flute lends a transcendent quality to the piece.
The 20th anniversary reissue promises to be a heartfelt celebration of Tunstallās enduring artistry, and a time capsule of the record that changed everything. Delicate, introspective, and brimming with wonder, the new single is a perfect reflection of the magic that made Eye to the Telescope a timeless classic ā and offers both old and new fans a beautiful glimpse into Tunstallās creative universe.

Rising Country Star Ty Myers Unveils Candid New Single āThrough a Screenā
Breakout country phenomenon Ty Myers shares his hotly anticipated new song āThrough a Screen,ā an all-too-real and deeply personal account of dating in the digital era. Out now via Records Nashville/Columbia, āThrough a Screenā arrives after overwhelming demand from the 18-year-old rising starās insatiable fan base.
One of the most compelling new artists on the scene, Myers composed the music and lyrics to āThrough a Screenā entirely on his own ā once again revealing a musical talent that defies all age barriers. Before releasing the unflinchingly honest song, he shared a sound clip on TikTok that instantly received a rapturous response, with over 30K UGC (user-generated content) created in the first two weeks alone. This marks his best-performing pre-release sound on the platform to date.
Recorded at the historic Fame Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals, AL, āThrough a Screenā came to life with producer Brandon Hood ā one of Myersā main collaborators on his landmark debut album The Select, a widely acclaimed 2025 LP that features standouts like the platinum smash (and his current single) āEnds of the Earth,ā along with āThought It Was Loveā and āDrinkinā Aloneā (both gold). In a thrilling glimpse at his eagerly awaited sophomore effort, āThrough a Screenā brings his soulful voice to a moody and sprawling sound built on driving piano melodies, sweeping strings, and incandescent guitar work (courtesy of renowned musicians like Tom Bukovac, an A-list session player whose credits include legends like Glen Campbell and Vince Gill).
In the latest testament to the quiet strength of Myersā artistry, the sonic grandeur of āThrough a Screenā never overshadows the pure impact of its storytelling. To that end, the song finds him embracing a gritty vulnerability as he opens up about the utter strangeness of online dating: āWhatās your favorite color? / Falling for each other / And we aināt even met / Iāve only known your name for a week / But now I know your insecurities / And in a month youāll be telling me you love me / Through a screen.ā As he drifts from confusion to cautious hope and back again, Myersā unfiltered confession is made all the more potent by the painfully lived-in quality of his lyrics. Adding another layer of emotional depth to āThrough a Screen,ā the song has struck a deep chord with his legions of ardent fans, further proving the prevalence and power of his online infatuation.
Another track recorded with Hood at Fame Recording Studios, the Southern Soul-infused āLeaving Carolinaā arrived just last month (alongside its John Park-directed visualizer), and presented a glorious introduction to Myersā next chapter. With more than half a billion global streams to date, the Texas-born singer-songwriter-guitarist is now playing both new songs on his sold-outĀ The Select TourĀ ā a 66-date headline run bringing his canāt-miss live performance to over 145K fans. Scheduled through November 8th at Masonic Temple Theatre in Detroit, MI, the tour showcases the undeniable star power thatās earned Myers countless accolades over the past year.
