20 Songs With the Same Title… That Aren’t Covers at All

Music is full of coincidences, but one of the most delightful is when completely different artists write completely unrelated songs… with the exact same title. Folk, rock, pop, metal, R&B — no genre is immune. Some of these pairs came out in the same decade, some even hit the charts at the same time, and many became classics on their own terms.

“Afterglow” – Genesis / INXS / Ed Sheeran
Three unrelated songs, three different moods — orchestral rock, alt-pop glow, and modern acoustic storytelling.

“All I Wanna Do” – Sheryl Crow / The Beach Boys
Two sunny songs with totally different energy: one ’90s bar-pop anthem, one full-harmonies surf classic.

“Angel” – Aerosmith / Sarah McLachlan / Shaggy
Power ballad, heartbreaking adult-contemporary, and reggae pop — the most genre-hopping shared title on the list.

“Believe” – Cher / Elton John / Smashing Pumpkins / Disturbed / Skillet
From dance-pop to glam rock to alt-rock to metal — same title, endless interpretations.

“Burn It Down” – Linkin Park / Skillet / Alter Bridge / Los Lobos / Five Finger Death Punch
Hard rock, heavy metal, alternative, and classic roots rock all coincidentally landed on the same name.

“Creep” – TLC / Radiohead / Stone Temple Pilots
One of the most iconic examples: three ’90s staples, three totally different worlds.

“Cruel Summer” – Bananarama / Taylor Swift
An ’80s synth-pop gem and a modern pop breakout — both beloved, nothing alike.

“Dreams” – Fleetwood Mac / The Cranberries / Gabrielle / Beck
Four completely unrelated classics spanning soft rock, alt-rock, soulful pop, and indie experimentation.

“Drive” – The Cars / Incubus / R.E.M.
Three hits from three different eras, ranging from new-wave to alt-rock to jangly college-rock.

“Evil Woman” – Electric Light Orchestra / Black Sabbath
One soaring orchestral rock smash, one early heavy-metal burner.

“Feel Like Makin’ Love” – Roberta Flack / Bad Company
Two hits released within months of each other — one sultry R&B, one arena-ready classic-rock anthem.

“Fire” – Ohio Players / Jimi Hendrix / Pointer Sisters
Same title, radically different vibes: funk, psych-rock, and unstoppable ’80s pop.

“Gloria” – Them / U2 / Patti Smith / The Lumineers
A garage-rock classic, an ’80s rock reinvention, a punk-poetry tornado, and a modern folk-rock hit.

“Hello” – Adele / Lionel Richie / Poe
Ballad, ballad, alt-rock — the shared title almost becomes a genre of its own.

“I Can’t Stop Loving You” – Ray Charles / Elvis Presley / Phil Collins / Leo Sayer / Michael Jackson
Five artists, one title, zero overlap — proof the simplest phrases travel far.

“I Was Here” – Beyoncé / Lady Antebellum
Two emotionally powerful songs about legacy, but unrelated in sound and origin.

“One” – U2 / Metallica / Three Dog Night / Bee Gees / Creed
A multi-decade coincidence: rock, metal, ’70s pop, and more all gravitated toward the same single word.

“Push It” – Salt-N-Pepa / Garbage
Hip-hop breakthrough meets ’90s alt-rock — two very different generations sharing a punchy title.

“Sometimes” – Depeche Mode / Erasure / My Bloody Valentine / Britney Spears / James
Mood-heavy synthpop, indie shoegaze, teen-pop, and British alt-rock all collided on this title.

“Wish You Were Here” – Pink Floyd / Incubus / Neck Deep
Three distinct emotional worlds: iconic prog-rock, early-2000s alt-rock, and modern pop-punk.

Giving Tuesday is all about generosity, kindness, and lifting each other up — which also happens to be one of music’s greatest superpowers. Whether it’s offering love, support, time, hope, or a helping hand, artists have been singing about giving for decades. Here are ten songs that capture the spirit of today, each reminding us that generosity isn’t just an action — it’s a rhythm we share.

“Gifts” – Ray LaMontagne
A gentle reminder that the real gifts we offer others come from empathy, presence, and paying attention to the people who need us most.

“Give a Little” – Maggie Rogers
A sparkling indie-pop anthem about opening yourself up, softening your edges, and offering real connection in a world that moves too fast.

“Give It Away” – Red Hot Chili Peppers
A funk-rock classic about how generosity multiplies when you let go of what you cling to and share it instead — energy, love, creativity, all of it.

“Give Me Love” – George Harrison
A spiritual plea for peace, light, and compassion, wrapped in Harrison’s signature warmth and quiet optimism.

“Give Me Strength” – Eric Clapton
A soulful reflection on asking for support while also recognizing the strength we receive through love and friendship.

“Giving You the Best That I Got” – Anita Baker
A lush, heartfelt R&B ballad about giving everything you have to someone who deserves nothing less than your whole heart.

“Hands” – Jewel
A hopeful folk-pop song about using whatever you’ve got — your hands, your time, your heart — to make the world a bit kinder.

“I Was Here” – Beyonce
A powerful declaration of wanting to leave the world better than you found it, rooted in compassion, purpose, and impact.

“Lean on Me” – Bill Withers
An enduring soul classic about the beauty of offering support — because we all give and receive strength at different moments in our lives.

“We Are the World” – USA for Africa
A global call to collective giving, reminding us that generosity is strongest when it moves through communities, not just individuals.

Columbus Quartet MY TICKET HOME Returns To Unleash Their New Album ‘PURE TO A FAULT’

0

The Columbus, Ohio quartet MY TICKET HOME—comprised of singer Nick Giumenti, drummer Marshal Giumenti, guitarist Matt Gallucci, and guitarist/vocalist Derek Blevins—is thrilled to release their highly anticipated new album, ‘PURE TO A FAULT’, today, November 21. This marks the first full-length album from the band, known for their powerful, unique brand of “puke rock,” in over eight years, a return eagerly awaited by their horde of devoted fans. Released completely independently, ‘PURE TO A FAULT’ is a true rebirth for the band and its members, blending the raw intensity and unfiltered emotion that first defined them with a newfound depth and experimentation that dives headfirst into darker, more dynamic territory.

The band built their reputation on their volatile mix of nu metal, alternative rock, and metal, dripping with authenticity and attitude. Ahead of the release, MY TICKET HOME reignited their connection with fans through four powerful singles, and even hit the stage once again for a series of intimate shows that culminated in a sold-out performance at The Crofoot in Detroit, supporting I Prevail. Singer Nick Giumenti expressed his excitement about the return, stating, “I am extremely grateful to be making music with my best friends again. Somehow, our time away from the band has made us into better musicians, at least in my opinion. I have re-fallen in love with heavy music during the past couple years, and I think we all wanted to bring a fresh energy back to MTH. No rules, no obligations, just write whatever we want and chase what feels good.”

The group also shared a brand new gnarly track today called “One for the Garden,” which features scathing riffs and more hooks than a tackle box. Giumenti also mentioned the freedom the band now has to create, noting they “all got our home studios up and running now, so there is nothing stopping us from creating whatever want.” The album is heavy, fast, and unflinchingly emotional, yet it also reveals a softer, more experimental side that reflects the band’s growth. Giumenti concluded, “I’m extremely proud of this record and it is a personal achievement for us, but there is still so much to do. As I keep reminding myself, this is just the beginning, not the end.” ‘PURE TO A FAULT’ is a homecoming, a rebirth, and a clear declaration that Puke Rock is alive and well.

‘PURE TO A FAULT’ TRACK LISTING:

  • “Tearjoint”
  • “The Weakest Wound”
  • “Nothing Lost“
  • “Spliced”

  • “Flooded Eyes“
  • “Drive the Nail”

Jordan Rakei Unveils Soulful New Collaboration “What It Gave Me” With Jalen Ngonda

0

Revered multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer Jordan Rakei has today returned with a collaboration with rising soul artist Jalen Ngonda. Written and recorded in just one morning within the storied walls of Abbey Road Studios where Jordan Rakei spent 18 months as Artist in Residence, ‘What It Gave Me’ marks the meeting of two of the UK soul’s most distinctive and captivating voices; out now on Fontana Records.

Built on warm analogue textures and a quietly cinematic groove, the track finds Rakei and Ngonda trading lines with effortless clarity and a shared sense of space. This melding of musical minds delivers an intimacy in ‘What It Gave Me’ that feels lived-in and comforting, the kind of track that feels instantly familiar, as timeless as it is current. Drawing influence from a vintage soul era of music making, the collaboration equally manages to replicate a distinctive sound and resonate with soul fans of today.

‘What It Gave Me’ is the first in a series of collaborations that Jordan Rakei has been quietly shaping behind the scenes. Speaking on the track, Jordan explains:

”Jalen Ngonda is such a force of nature — super charismatic, creative, and full of great ideas. Working with him in the studio was so fun; he works exactly how I like to — quick ideas, track it, move on. Confident in his choices and a great collaborator. I’ve been a fan for ages, and it’s so good to see him blowing up. His dedication to the craft and the way he approaches songwriting really inspired me”

Jalen adds: “It was an absolute pleasure working with Jordan, let alone at Abbey Road ! Working with him was like working at The Brill building where the likes of Carole King, Ellie Greenwich and Burt Bacharach and many more would go in to the office and sit at the piano and have a tune written by lunchtime, Jordan possesses that skill and has a clever way of putting chords and melodies together. Its our pleasure to present to you “What It Gave Me”.

Released last year via Decca (and Verve Forecast in the US), Jordan’s fifth studio album The Loop marked a new chapter in Jordan’s career that coincided with a number of profound changes in his personal life. It’s an extraordinary record, not least for its sheer, breathtaking ambition whilst retaining the experimental, off-kilter vibe he’s synonymous with. Containing singles ‘Flowers’‘Freedom’‘Learning’, ‘Friend or Foe’ and ‘Trust’, the album showcased his typically bold production style alongside spectacular orchestral arrangements and haunting choirs, hypnotic beats and an Odyssean-style narrative that charts a course through times of darkness and positivity.

The album saw Jordan achieve his first Top 40 album, be nominated for Best Album at the Ivor Novello Awards, named Abbey Road’s first ever Artist In Residence, play a coveted slot on Glastonbury’s West Holts stage, sell out his biggest-ever shows globally, curate his very own BBC Prom, and finish the year of 2024 with 2 stellar sold-out nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall. As well as the previously unheard singles, The Loop (Deluxe) version also featured live versions of key singles from the Royal Albert Hall shows.

Sébastien Tellier Teams Up With Nile Rodgers and Slayyyter For Funky New Single “Thrill Of The Night”

0

An essential figure of the French Touch movement, Sébastien Tellier opens a new chapter in his career with the announcement of his new studio album, Kiss The Beast

After the introspective ballad “Naïf de Cœur”, Tellier continues his exploration of the Kiss The Beast universe with “Thrill Of The Night”, a disco track with a distinctly French touch, created in collaboration with pop disruptor Slayyyter and the legendary Nile Rodgers on guitar. Produced by Oscar Holter (The Weeknd, Katy Perry etc.) and SebastiAn, “Thrill Of The Night” is a song rooted in sharing and celebration.

Thrill Of The Night was made “with the desire to relive those club years: the dream of the night as we like to imagine it, filled with freedom and festive excitement. Everything becomes possible, nothing is unthinkable,” Tellier explains.

“I was looking for a female voice, and the American singer Slayyyter perfectly met the technical demands of the song. She brought a very Studio 54 tone to it – and so did Nile Rodgers, whose joyful guitar playing was ideal here. It was a dream to have him on this track!” he concludes.

“I have always been a huge fan of Sebastian Tellier and Nile Rodgers, so to be on this song is such an honor. I went to Paris last year and recorded the song at Motorbass studios with Sebastian Tellier and SebastiAn which was such a dream come true, both have influenced my own music so much and were such a pleasure to work with. To create and record in such an iconic space with people I admire felt very full circle. A year later I came back to Paris to shoot the music video, and I’m so happy for it to be out in the world.” Slayyyter adds.

Alongside his new album, Sébastien Tellier announces his big return to the stage in 2026 with a tour in France and across Europe, with dates already selling out!

We last saw him with the synthetic storytelling of the album Domesticated in 2020. Since then, Sébastien Tellier has been far from idle, working on three film scores, releasing two EPs, producing for some of his peers, and delivering one of the most memorable performances at the opening ceremony of the Paris Paralympic Games in 2024 with his timeless “La Ritournelle.” Twenty years earlier, the release of that track on his second album Politics had already established Tellier as one of the most charismatic artists of the 21st century.

A talented multi-instrumentalist, he has explored diverse musical territories ranging from pop and folk(s) to electronic. The result has been numerous tracks that have become cult classics: “Universe,” “L’amour et la violence,” “Divine,” “Roche,” “Cochon ville,” “Fingers of Steel,” “A Ballet”… All of this accompanied by his unmistakable signature style: long hair and beard, cap, and dark sunglasses. This unique dandyism has led him to collaborate regularly with major fashion houses, captivated by Sébastien Tellier’s untamed elegance.

Growing up in the suburbs of $t. Louis, Slayyyter worshipped pop culture form afar, a devout acolyte of such Top 40 stalwarts as Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. After dropping out of college, she began to record music as Slayyyter, a pseudonym from her favorite Dazed and Confused character. Powered up by “Daddy AF” and “Mine,” her self-titled debut mixtape Slayyyter, generated over 100 million streams and counting. She went on to $ell out her very first headline tour and maintained her momentum with the full-length debut, Troubled Paradise, beyond widespread praise from Billboard, Bustle, MTV, NME, PAPER Mag, Uproxx, and more, Pitchfork noted, “her star quality has supernova potential,” and Rolling Stone raved, “The internet is a pop star’s game, and Slayyyter is winning.” In 2023, Slayyyter released her second full-length offering Starfucker, along with a deluxe version featuring three additional tracks. The album saw praise from Variety, Rolling Stone, Interview Mag, Billboard, and PAPER, among others. Bringing the album to life to her engaged fanbase, Slayyyter’s headline Club Valentine tour saw sold-out stops across the U.S., United Kingdom, and Ireland. Most recently, Slayyyter hit the road with Kesha on the Tits Out Tour, where she delivered high-energy performances to packed venues across North America. Fueled by momentum, $layyyter is primed for reinvention and ready to unleash her newest era with full force.

THE HALO EFFECT Covers Gothenburg Classic ‘Shoreline’ To Complete New EP

0

THE HALO EFFECT has officially unveiled the fifth and final song from their highly anticipated cover EP, ‘We Are Shadows’, which releases today, with this last track selected by drummer Daniel Svensson as a heartfelt tribute to the Gothenburg indie-pop scene. Svensson chose to reinterpret ‘Shoreline’, the 2003 alternative pop anthem from local legends Broder Daniel, and THE HALO EFFECT has made the song entirely their own, delivering a powerful and emotional rendition that seamlessly blends frontman Mikael Stanne’s stunning clean vocals with his trademark growls. Reflecting on the choice, Svensson commented, “Broder Daniel were one of the bands that created the Gothenburg indie-pop scene in the late ’90s. There are several parallels to the ‘Gothenburg Sound’ — both scenes were driven by a strong DIY ethos and comradeship while gathering international attention.”

Elton John’s Festive Classic “Step Into Christmas” Earns Platinum Certification In The U.S.

0

Elton John’s festive classic “Step Into Christmas” has officially been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), recognizing more than one million certified units in the United States.

Originally released on November 23, 1973, “Step Into Christmas” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Christmas Singles chart in the US. Over the past decade, the song has cemented its place as a seasonal favorite, spending a total of 44 weeks to date on the Billboard Holiday Airplay chart and re-entering the UK charts every December since 2011. During the 2020–21 winter season, it achieved its highest UK chart position to date at No.8. In 2023, exactly fifty years after its release, the single was certified Triple Platinum by the BPI. Listen to “Step Into Christmas” HERE. Over the weekend, Elton’s latest, characteristically hilarious, “Step Into Christmas” social post went viral, attracting more than 20m views in under 48 hours.

In 2024, over 50 years after the song’s original release, Elton John unveiled a brand-new video Christmas classic that reimagines the making of the original 1973 promo. The gloriously kitsch music video stars British actress and model Cara Delevingne as Elton, portraying the chaos and humor of a frantic production team trying to make the set “Christmassy enough.” Between wrangling an escaped turkey, missing a real reindeer, and fending off fans, Cara perfectly channels Elton’s iconic moves and expressions, paying playful homage to the original video. A lifelong Elton fan, Delevingne fulfilled a personal dream in this role, stepping—quite literally—into her friend’s high-heeled boots for a joyful and affectionate tribute to one of the most enduring holiday songs of all time.

Written with longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin, “Step Into Christmas” truly captures the joy and spirit of the holiday season in Elton’s unique and inimitable style. Decades after its debut, this bona fide classic continues to find new fans and cement its status as a truly joyous and essential staple of the festive season.

Award-Winning Short Film ‘WAR IS OVER’ Inspired By John and Yoko Now Streaming Free on YouTube

0

The Academy Award and Annie Award-winning animated short film, “WAR IS OVER! Inspired By The Music of John & Yoko,” is now available to watch for free exclusively on the Official John Lennon Channel on YouTube, marking its global streaming debut.

The film is set in an alternate WWI reality where, as a senseless war rages on, two soldiers on opposite sides of the conflict play a game of chess. A heroic carrier pigeon delivers the soldiers’ chess moves over the battlefield as the fighting escalates, meanwhile neither soldier knows his opponent as the game and the war builds to its climatic final move. Whoever wins the game, the film powerfully illustrates that one thing is for certain: there are no winners in war.

“WAR IS OVER!” was co-written by Sean Ono Lennon and 20-year Pixar alumni – writer, director, and animator – Dave Mullins (“Up,” “Soul,” “Incredibles 2,” “Cars 2”), directed by Mullins, produced by Brad Booker (“Iron Giant,” “The Book of Life,” “Rumble”), and executive produced by Sean Ono Lennon and Yoko Ono Lennon, with a score composed by 15-time Oscar®-nominee, Thomas Newman.

“WAR IS OVER!” is a co-production of Lenono Music and ElectroLeague with animation produced by Peter Jackson’s Wētā FX using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine.

“Being able to share this film freely with a global audience for the first time feels very meaningful to me,” said Sean Ono Lennon. “My parents always believed that art, even in its simplest form, could help change the world and move us toward love and compassion. The message of peace at the heart of this film feels more vital than ever. I’m very grateful to YouTube for partnering with us to make the film accessible to everyone. It feels especially fitting to release it now, as the holidays begin, as ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over)’ has always been a reminder of hope and humanity at this time of year. Making “WAR IS OVER!” available to all truly honors that ethos: our shared belief in John & Yoko’s timeless anthem, “War is over if you want it!”
