Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes Revisit ‘Live at the Greek’ With 25th Anniversary Reissue

0

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of one of rock music’s most legendary live collaborations, newly announced Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees The Black Crowes and global rock icon Jimmy Page are pleased to announce the re-release of their iconic live album, Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes: Live at the Greek. Recorded during unforgettable nights of rock and roll in October 1999 at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre and Jones Beach in August 1999, this album features powerful renditions of Led Zeppelin classics and The Black Crowes’ staple blues-rock jams.

The 36-track anniversary album was produced, mixed, and remastered by Kevin Shirley and includes 16 previously unreleased tracks, exclusive behind-the-scenes photos, video, and much more. Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes: Live at the Greek is set for release on March 14 via The Orchard.

Ahead of the re-release, Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes dropped a two-track single, “No Speak No Slave” and “Bring It On Home.” Available to stream today, The Black Crowes’ fan favorite “No Speak No Slave” delivers a roaring performance by Jimmy Page in the new, remastered release. The song is accompanied by a new music video featuring never-before-seen footage of the unforgettable performance.

The second song available today is never before released, “Bring It On Home,” the blues classic that was famously reinterpreted by Led Zeppelin on their 1969 album Led Zeppelin II and reimagined again live in 1999. Jimmy Page’s iconic guitar, the soulful energy of Rich Robinson and the gritty vocals of Chris Robinson made this performance one of the greatest in rock history.

“I’m really looking forward to the soon to be available release of Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes material from concerts in 1999,” said Jimmy Page. “The new mixes capture the collaboration of those historic encounters and provide the full explosive passion and exciting energy of those alchemical moments.”

The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson said, “The new Live at the Greek box set brings the whole experience of our work with Jimmy into a vibrant, electric, mystical and powerful perspective. Hail, hail rock ‘n roll!”

Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes added, “Going through the shows and putting together the new box set has been such an incredible dive back to that time in our history. It was a once-in-a-lifetime thrill to play these amazing iconic songs with the man who composed them. The sound of the new mixes and extra songs blew me away when I first heard them.”

The new, remastered editions capture the raw interplay between guitar virtuosos Jimmy Page, Audley Freed, and Rich Robinson, complemented by Chris Robinson’s soulful vocal delivery. Standout moment includes Jimmy Page’s masterful use of his signature B-bender guitar on The Black Crowes’ chart-topping hit, “She Talks to Angels,” adding a unique country-rock twang to the otherwise timeless classic rock ballad. Also included in the Double LP “Best Of” Edition, a never-before-released song Rich Robinson and Jimmy Page wrote while jamming during a soundcheck. The track aptly titled “Jam” is a true rarity.

Tulsa’s Bob Dylan & Woody Guthrie Centers Host Stepping Into the Unknown Exhibit Featuring ‘A Complete Unknown’

0

“Stepping Into the Unknown,” a new exhibition featuring props and costumes from James Mangold’s eight-time Oscar-nominated film “A Complete Unknown” from Searchlight Pictures, starring Timothée Chalamet, will open February 28 at the Bob Dylan Center and Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa.

Arianne Phillips, the film’s Oscar-nominated costume designer, and music supervisor Steve Gizicki will appear at a special opening event February 27. The evening will begin with a preview of the exhibit at the centers, followed by a screening of the film at Tulsa’s Circle Cinema [10 S Lewis Ave] where Phillips and Gizicki will discuss their approach and creative process. Members have early access to reserve their free ticket during a pre-sale period beginning Thursday, February 13 at noon CT, before tickets become available to the public at noon Monday, February 17 here.

Presented in partnership with Searchlight Pictures, the capsule exhibit will be the first staged concurrently at the Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie centers, both of which are operated by the American Song Archives. The exhibit will illuminate the deep bond between the two hugely influential American songwriters. As depicted in the film, Dylan set out to visit Guthrie in a hospital immediately upon his arrival in New York City from Minnesota.

“As moviegoers learned from ‘A Complete Unknown,’ the relationship between Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie is essential to an understanding of 20th century American music,” says Steve Higgins, managing director of the American Song Archives. “This exhibit will amplify that story by connecting it to the real-life artifacts in our collections.”

New York, 1961. Against the backdrop of a vibrant music scene and tumultuous cultural upheaval, an enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota arrives with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music. He forges intimate relationships with music icons of Greenwich Village on his meteoric rise, culminating in a groundbreaking and controversial performance that reverberates worldwide. Timothée Chalamet stars and sings as Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown,” the electric story behind the rise of one of the most iconic singer-songwriters in history. The film also stars Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash and Scoot McNairy as Woody Guthrie.

The centers provided source material for the film’s creative team. The prop master spent time in Tulsa researching items that were replicated in the film.

“The exhibit is a full-circle moment in a sense,” Higgins says. “We are bringing to Tulsa items from the film that were inspired by our collections in the first place.

The Bob Dylan Center and Woody Guthrie Center are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. Dual admission tickets and memberships are available, as are senior, student and veteran discounts. Youth under 17 and K-12 teachers receive free admission. More information at bobdylancenter.com and woodyguthriecenter.org.

The Bob Dylan Center inspires and celebrates fearless creativity by exploring the music and artistry of the Nobel Prize–winning singer-songwriter as a catalyst for personal expression and cultural change.

As the primary public venue for the Bob Dylan Archive® collection, the center curates and exhibits a priceless collection of more than 100,000 items spanning Dylan’s career, including handwritten manuscripts, notebooks and correspondence; films, videos, photographs and artwork; memorabilia and ephemera; personal documents and effects; unreleased studio and concert recordings; musical instruments and many other elements. The center presents a full roster of public programs including concerts, film screenings and author talks. Since opening in May 2022, the Bob Dylan Center has welcomed visitors from all 50 states and nearly 40 countries. The center has garnered numerous design awards and accolades from publications including the New York Times, Vanity Fair, Variety, Uncut and Mojo.

The Woody Guthrie Center celebrates the life, music and artistry of the influential folk musician while seeking to ignite a passion for social change and foster a world in which the values of justice, equality and compassion prevail. The center honors Guthrie’s life and legacy by educating visitors, teachers, students and scholars about his relevance today and his important role in American history through on-site programming, classroom materials, youth music programs, artist-in-residence programs, school outreach, internships, fellowship opportunities and the Woody Guthrie Center Archives.

Janiva Magness Unveils New Single “Holes” Featuring Sue Foley

0

Janiva Magness is excited to announce the release of “Holes”, her new single featuring Grammy nominated guitarist Sue Foley.  When asked about the song, Janiva declared, “Careful y’all, this one might hurt… Owww! It’s that shock of finding out the hole we find ourselves in again… is the one we dug ourselves!” Magness continues, “Ain’t no doubt, the drums command us to move and groove here. Sue Foley’s stellar guitar work glues it all together. Before you know it you’ll be shakin’ your money maker with the deep pocket, stompin’ & shouting along with the chorus!”

The new album, Back for Me, produced by her longtime friend, producer, and collaborator Dave Darling, is due March 28, 2025 via Blue Élan Records. Darling anchors the album’s core band, also featuring drummer W.F. Quinn Smith and bassist Ian Walker, with keyboardists Sasha Smith and Phil Parlapiano, guitarists John Schroeder and Robert “Chalo” Ortiz, Nick Maybury, and blues harp player TJ Norton also appearing on various songs. Ace guitarists Joe Bonamassa, Sue Foley, and Jesse Dayton put their stamps on their respective special guest appearances. She credits the band for bringing layers of dimensions to the songs. Aside from Darling, Parlapiano, and Schroeder, the main musicians were new to Magness, but as soon as the sessions began, she felt the fresh energy they brought.

Back For Me is a powerfully engaging, emotionally rich collection from a dynamic artist who continues to renew and redefine her widely celebrated relationship with the blues. Janiva’s far-ranging search for songs has unearthed a treasure chest of lesser-known gems by well-known artists (Bill Withers, Ray LaMontagne, Allen Toussaint, Doyle Bramhall II, Tracy Nelson, Irma Thomas) and deep-dive discoveries that connect with the rich feelings embodied in her voice and music, cherished by her fans. “I have always been into the B-sides,” she says. “There’s a freshness to doing a B-side rather than a well-known hit. I absolutely love the idea of shining a light on material that people are not familiar with.”

Magness has been honored with seven Blues Music Awards (including being named B.B. King Artist of the Year in 2009) and a Grammy Nomination for her 2016 album, Love Wins Again. In 2019, she published her memoir, Weeds Like Us, a vividly portrayed account of both the traumas of her youth (her parents’ suicides and her often-nightmarish experiences in the foster care system) and the hard-earned triumphs that have fueled her growth as an artist and in life.

0

This year, All Good Presents invites fans to experience “The All Good Trifesta,” a trio of extraordinary music festivals united by a shared ethos of celebration, kindness, and community. Together, Dark Star JubileeAll Good Now, and 4848 Festival represent a new way of framing what makes All Good Presents events exceptional, offering something for every music lover’s lifestyle.

This year’s Trifesta begins Memorial Day weekend with the Dark Star Jubilee (May 23–26), hosted at the iconic Legend Valley in Thornville, OH. The Jubilee combines the timeless vibe of a classic campout with three unforgettable nights of Dark Star Orchestra plus first time Jubilee appearances by moe., Warren Haynes Band and many more.

Next, on June 14–15, the reimagined All Good Now takes over the historic Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD, blending legacy acts with today’s hottest artists in a cherished amphitheater setting. This transformation of the iconic All Good Music Festival & Campout, a beloved event that defined a generation of jam band fans, brings together returning favorites like The String Cheese Incident, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, and The Disco Biscuits, alongside today’s standout performers like Goose and Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway.

Finally, the season concludes July 17–19 with the 4848 Festival at the breathtaking Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia. This “festivacation” event combines world-class live music with the relaxation and adventure of a mountaintop resort getaway, creating an immersive domestic destination festival experience unlike any other. Headliners include the soulful Lake Street Dive, the genre-defying Greensky Bluegrass, and the masterfully talented Dark Star Orchestra, making 4848 a perfect blend of musical excellence and outdoor adventure.

“We often hear fans say, ‘this feels like All Good,’ when they are at the Dark Star Jubilee or 4848 Festival,” says All Good Presents founder Tim Walther. “They have no idea that the same promoter who created the All Good Festival is curating these events and launching All Good Now. We want to let everyone know that these feel good festivals operate under the same umbrella, All Good Presents. Whether you prefer a campout, an amphitheater, or a mountaintop resort, we’ve got the festival for you.”

The All Good Trifesta is built on three core essentials—celebration, kindness, and community—that define the unique atmosphere of every All Good Presents event. Each festival delivers a shared experience of music and togetherness while offering three signature features that set the All Good Trifesta apart. Fans can enjoy no overlapping sets, ensuring they never miss a moment of their favorite performances. Each night concludes with dazzling fireworks displays, creating a memorable capstone to the day’s festivities. Adding a touch of magic, The Amazing Giants bring their unique brand of theatrical artistry elevating the atmosphere and delighting audiences of all ages with their stilt walking, firespinning, aerialist performances and more.

For nearly three decades, All Good Presents has been a cornerstone of the live music scene, hosting 68 festivals and selling over 2 million tickets across 3,000+ club shows and iconic gatherings. From its grassroots beginnings—when founder Tim Walther personally handed out over two million flyers—to its collaborations with renowned venues like Merriweather Post Pavilion, The Anthem and 9:30 Club, All Good Presents has consistently delivered unforgettable live music experiences.

The All Good Trifesta builds on this enduring legacy. Dark Star Jubilee has become a cherished Memorial Day weekend tradition, with 12 editions hosted at the iconic Legend Valley in Thornville, OH. The All Good Music Festival & Campout, which helped define the East Coast jam scene over its 17 editions across four states, makes its triumphant return reimagined this year as All Good Now at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Meanwhile, the 4848 Festival has established itself as a premier mountaintop resort destination experience, with six editions at the stunning Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia. Together, these events embody All Good Presents’ commitment to fostering community and creating transformative live music and personal experiences.

The return of the All Good name through All Good Now marks a historic milestone for 2025. Originally launched in 1997, the All Good Music Festival & Campout became one of the East Coast’s most beloved jam festivals, celebrated for its intimate vibe and life changing experiences. Its revival honors the community and spirit that have defined All Good Presents for decades, connecting past traditions with the next generation of live music fans.

Algal the Bard Transforms Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” into a Medieval Masterpiece

What if Iron Man wasn’t forged in the fires of heavy metal, but instead played in the candlelit halls of a medieval feast? Algal the Bard takes Black Sabbath’s classic and transforms it into something a knight would jam to after a long day on the battlefield.

Andrea Bocelli & Kendji Girac Reimagine “Je Vis Pour Elle” for Valentine’s Day

0

World-renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli has united with French chart-topper, Kendji Girac to revisit one of Bocelli’s most iconic tracks (‘Vivo per lei/I Live for Her’) with a new, spellbinding version, entitled Je Vis Pour Elle. Kendji, one of the most listened to and beloved artists on the French music scene, brings his unique vocal to the new French-language interpretation of Bocelli’s greatest hymn to love, released just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The Spanish rendition of the enduring classic, ‘Vivo por ella’, features on Bocelli’s current album Duets as a duet with five-time Latin GRAMMY and GRAMMY Award-winner KAROL G. On release it quickly went on to become the runaway hit of the album. This landark album, released on Decca Records / Sugar Music in 2024, celebrates Bocelli’s 30th anniversary in music, showcasing the remarkable collaborations across his career.

The original song, ‘Vivo per lei’, catapulted Andrea Bocelli to success in numerous countries when it was first released in 1995 on his album Bocelli. It topped the charts in France, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium and Panama, and has gone on to become one of the tenor’s highest-streaming tracks. The Spanish version, ‘Vivo por ella’ was originally sung with Marta Sánchez, and it too has enjoyed major success. Today’s French re-imagining of the track, which has spanned generations, offers a fresh and vibrant take on a song that has stayed with Bocelli for an incredible three decades.

Bocelli’s album, Duets, brings together many more of his beloved collaborations alongside brand new songs to mark his 30th anniversary year. This career-spanning 32-track collection also includes duets with Ed Sheeran, Céline Dion, Sarah Brightman, Dua Lipa, Jennifer Lopez, Giorgia, and Luciano Pavarotti, alongside new superstar duets recorded especially for the album with Shania Twain, Chris Stapleton, Gwen Stefani, Marc Anthony, Sofia Carson, Lauren Daigle, Elisa, Matteo Bocelli and Hans Zimmer.

With nearly 90 million records sold worldwide and over 14 billion streams, Andrea Bocelli is one of the most successful classical artists of all time. He has one of the most recognizable voices in the entertainment industry and with his new album Duets, he continues to surprise and enchant his fans 30 years on. The breadth of collaborations throughout his career so far is testament not only to his remarkable voice, but also highlights his lasting influence and artistry.

Brenda Lee’s ‘Love You!’ Deluxe Edition Brings Rare Early Tracks to Streaming

0

In honour of Valentine’s Day, the legendary Brenda Lee’s long out-of-print 1963 early career collection, aptly titled Love You!, is now available via MCA Nashville/UMe as an expanded digital Deluxe Edition with 20 incredibly rare tracks making their streaming debuts. With this release, every one of Lee’s recordings that she made for Decca between 1956-62 are finally now available digitally.

Subtitled “Early hits that made her famous,” Love You! was originally released in 1963 in the UK by Ace Of Hearts, Decca UK’s label whose purpose was to release Decca’s back catalog of US repertoire in the UK. The collection combined the A & B sides of non-album singles that were released in the US between 1957 and 1961, starting with “Love You Til I Die,” the B-side to her hit “Dynamite,” recorded by “Little Miss Dynamite” when she was just 12 years old. Some of the many highlights on the original collection include the rockabilly classics “Dynamite,” “Ring-A-My Phone,” “Rock-A-Bye Baby Blues,” “Rock The Bop,” “I’m Learning About Love,” “Bill Bailey, Won’t You Please Come Home” and “One Teenager To Another.”

Love You! has now been expanded to include 20 additional non-album singles, rarities, and unissued recordings, all recorded between 1956 and 1962. The tracks, which have been released over the years on various international compilations of Lee’s early years, including 1974’s German compilation, The Legends Of Rock Vol. 2 Rare Items; 1984’s UK collection, The Early Years; and Germany’s Bear Family Records’ 1995 comprehensive box set, Little Miss Dynamite, are all now available to stream for the first time. The new additions include many of Lee’s earliest recordings such as her incredible cover of Hank Williams’ “Your Cheatin’ Heart,” recorded in 1956 but not released for nearly three decades, as well several “alternate versions,” “first versions” and “second versions” of tracks like “Bigelow 6-200,” the B-side to her first single, “Jambalaya,” the teenage heartbreaker, “Careless, That’ All” and her take on the Ink Spots’ classic “If I Didn’t Care.” Other standouts include “Some People,” “Funny Feelin’,” “Time Is Not Enough” and “Sweet Lovin’.”

When Love You! was released in 1963, the essay on the album sleeve exclaimed about Brenda Lee, “Still in her teens, she can look back on a long, and continuous, succession of hit records,” but the writer couldn’t have known how right they were, as the future Rock and Roll and Country Hall of Famer was just getting started on what would become a more than seven decade career. Now Brendators and lovers of early rockabilly and country, can stream some of Lee’s most formative recordings.

Out of five GRAMMY Award nominations, they took home “Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group” for the 3x-Platinum smash “Let’s Get It Started.” The record also housed the gold-certified hit “Where Is The Love,” which boasts an assist from Justin Timberlake and cracked the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. “Where Is The Love” continues to be a go-to anthemic track in times of turmoil, giving fans hope and comfort that we can band together in emergencies and overcome surges of hate and discrimination.

2005 saw Monkey Business bow at #2 on the Billboard 200. It eventually went 3x-Platinum fueled by the Gold-certified “Don’t Phunk with My Heart” and 2x-Platinum “My Humps.” The former marked their second GRAMMY Award for “Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group,” while the latter snagged their third GRAMMY in the same category.

After years of performances and recording, The E.N.D. (THE ENERGY NEVER DIES) enshrined Black Eyed Peas as a cultural phenomenon. It notched their first #1 debut on the Billboard 200 and yielded a procession of Billboard Hot 100 #1 entries, namely the 2x-Platinum “Imma Be,” 5x-Platinum “Boom Boom Pow,” and RIAA Diamond-certified “I Gotta Feeling.” Among its myriad of accolades, The E.N.D. (THE ENERGY NEVER DIES) impressively garnered three GRAMMY Awards, including “Best Pop Vocal Album” as well as “Best Short Form Music Video” for “Boom Boom Pow” and “Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group” for “I Gotta Feeling.” In the record’s wake, they delivered a showstopping halftime performance at Super Bowl XLV.

Going back to the beginning, Behind The Front formally introduced Black Eyed Peas. This fan favorite includes “Karma” [feat. Einstein Brown]. Upon release, Rolling Stone applauded how, “’Behind the Front’ offers an organic mixture of sampled melodies and live instruments aimed at those of us seeking a little enlightenment with our well-oiled boogie.” In retrospect, Tyler, The Creator famously praised Behind The Front on Twitter, going on to write, “thank you for helping shape my ear and getting me started to write words down.
