2025 GRAMMY Hall of Fame Inductees Announced: JAY-Z, Santana, Emmylou Harris, and More Honored

Today, the Recording Academy revealed the 2025 inducted recordings to the distinguished GRAMMY Hall Of Fame. This year’s additions include eight albums and five singles that exhibit qualitative or historical significance and are at least 25 years old. The inducted recordings will be honored at the GRAMMY Museum and Recording Academy’s GRAMMY Hall Of Fame Gala on May 16, 2025, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA. The Gala will also pay tribute to this year’s label honoree, Republic Records, with performers to be announced at a later date.

The 2025 GRAMMY Hall Of Fame inducted recordings range from JAY-Z’s Reasonable Doubt to Cat Stevens’ Tea For The Tillerman to Santana’s Supernatural. Others include recordings by Big Star, Clara Ward, Eddie Floyd, Emmylou Harris, Fela Kuti & Afrika 70, Geeshie Wiley, Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine, J.D. Crowe & The New South, Linda Martell, and Luther Vandross.

The GRAMMY Hall Of Fame was established by the Recording Academy’s National Trustees in 1973. The inducted recordings are selected annually by a special member committee of eminent and knowledgeable professionals from all branches of the recording arts with final ratification by the Recording Academy’s National Board of Trustees. DelFest Academy is thrilled to announce its 2025 program, scheduled for May 19-21 in Cumberland, Maryland. This year’s academy boasts an exceptional lineup of instructors, including The Travelin’ McCourys, Sister Sadie, Ronnie and Garnet Bowman, Heaven McCoury and Shawn Lane of Blue Highway.

DelFest Academy provides a friendly, encouraging and intensive multi-day learning experience for musicians of all levels.

Students at DelFest Academy can expect instrument-specific workshops including guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin and fiddle, plus electives such as vocals and songwriting. Additionally, attendees are encouraged to join the various group jam sessions and Bluegrass Karaoke, as well one-on-one time with our panel of esteemed artists.

Tangerine Dream’s Phaedra Celebrates 50 Years with a Definitive 6-Disc Box Set Featuring Unreleased Live Tracks and Steven Wilson’s 5.1 Mix

 ‘Phaedra’ is one of Tangerine Dream’s most successful and acclaimed albums and this limited edition 5CD/Blu-ray box set is a deep-dive celebration of one of the most important and pioneering electronic albums of all time.

To be released on 18th April, ‘Phaedra 50th Anniversary Edition’ is a six-disc 50th anniversary boxed set featuring a remastered original album mix, along with two discs of out-takes from the recording sessions. The complete concert at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London in June 1974 (the band’s debut live appearance in the UK) and a Blu-ray disc featuring Steven Wilson’s 5.1 Surround Sound mix. The box also features an illustrated book with a new essay by Tangerine Dream authority Wouter Bessels.

 Originally released by Virgin Records in February 1974, ‘Phaedra’ spent 15 weeks on the UK charts upon its release. Recorded at The Manor studios in November 1973, it was the band’s first album for Virgin and vitally, it was the first record in which they used a sequencer. This is seen as the moment the band created their signature sound, and this development in their music production would go on to have a huge impact and influence on electronic music to this day and had a fundamental effect on ‘Kosmische Musik’ – a term coined by Tangerine Dream founding member Edgar Froese which came into regular use before ‘krautrock’ and was preferred by some German artists. 

‘Phaedra’s groundbreaking use of synthesizers and sequencers created a lush and immersive soundscape that was unlike anything else at the time. Its success came from word-of-mouth and self discovery, despite the record receiving no radio play support upon its original release, it integrated itself into cultural society and helped to popularise the concept of electronic music as an art form and showed that it could be just as, if not more so, complex and sophisticated than any other forms of music.

Gibson Partners with Johnny Marr to Create 20 Gibson ’84 Les Paul Standard Guitars

In celebration of Gibson Garage Fest, a series of events commemorating the one-year anniversary of the Gibson Garage London, Gibson has partnered with the world-renowned musician Johnny Marr to release 20 hand-signed Gibson Les Paul guitars for charity, based on the iconic Les Paul Standard he played in The Smiths.

The Gibson ’84 Les Paul Standard with Bigsby signed by Johnny Marr will be available exclusively at the Gibson Garage London starting at 11 am on Friday, February 21, until they are sold out. All profits from the sale of the instruments will be donated by Johnny Marr and Gibson to support the Teenage Cancer Trust.

These Made to Measure guitars are inspired by Johnny Marr’s Les Paul Standard from 1984, first played by Marr during the recording of The Smiths’ iconic second album, Meat is Murder. The model became Johnny’s go-to guitar and was used extensively in both live performances and recording sessions with The Smiths, as well as during his time as a member of The The, The Pretenders, The Cribs, as well as his work with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Marr says: “These guitars are a faithful reproduction of my beloved 1984 Gibson Les Paul, bought in Manchester back in the day. It’s the guitar I’ve kept and used since that time on loads of different records, so I was beyond delighted to see it recreated in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. It’s an amazing organization that I’ve had an association with for about ten years. It’s a privilege to be involved in this good cause and I’m very glad to be affiliated with it, especially when it involves making a fantastic Les Paul.”
