Paul McCartney and Wings Celebrate 50th Anniversary of Venus and Mars with Half-Speed Master Edition

0

Commemorate the 50th anniversary of Wings’ fourth studio album Venus and Mars with a half-speed master edition out 21 March, 2025. Pre-order here.

One of the world’s most beloved rock outfits, Wings came to define the era of 1970s arena rock while dominating the airwaves with no fewer than 14 US Top 10 hits and 12 Top 10 hits in the UK. Following their 1973 masterpiece Band on the Run, Venus and Mars would represent another peak of Wings’ creative and commercial heyday. The band’s fourth studio album was released on May 27, 1975, ahead of the legendary Wings Over the World tour. Preceded by the US Number One single “Listen To What The Man Said” and featuring “Letting Go,” a fan favorite in Paul’s live set to this day, Venus and Mars hit Number One in the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic and went on to sell over 4 million copies worldwide.

This special 50th-anniversary vinyl edition was cut at half speed using a high-resolution transfer of the original master tapes from 1975 by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. The album is presented as a meticulous reproduction of the original UK pressing, with recreations of the original “Venus and Mars are alright tonight” circular sticker and “comparative sizes of sun and planets” bookmark sticker and comes with two posters with photography by Aubrey Powell and Sylvia de Swaan. The iconic album artwork by Hipgnosis has been meticulously recreated and presented in a gatefold sleeve.

Venus and Mars will also be available in Dolby Atmos for the first time, newly mixed by Giles Martin and Steve Orchard.

Less than one year after Band on the Run’s release, the first recording sessions for Venus and Mars took place in November 1974 and featured a revamped Wings line-up. Following the departure of Denny Seiwell and Henry McCullough on the eve of the Band on the Run sessions in Lagos, Paul, Linda McCartney, and Denny Laine were now joined by guitarist Jimmy McCulloch and drummer Geoff Britton. After recording “Letting Go,” “Medicine Jar,” and “Love In Song” at Abbey Road Studios, Wings left London for New Orleans’ Sea Saint Studios, facing another unexpected line-up shift with Geoff Britton’s exit, recruiting Joe English to complete the album.

In tandem with Venus and Mars topping the charts worldwide, the album’s predecessor, Band on the Run, continued building its global multi-platinum popularity. With a powerful new line-up solidified, Wings’ response to the overwhelming demand surrounding them was to launch the Wings Over the World tour — a 65-date run of shows starting in 1975 and stretching into October 1976.

The first Wings release for 2025, Venus and Mars follows 2024’s theatrical release of the rare Wings live-in-studio performance film One Hand Clapping and its accompanying album landing in the Best of 2024 lists of Billboard, Uproxx and the Los Angeles Times, as well as last year’s 50th-anniversary edition of Band on the Run. More exciting celebratory Wings’ activities and announcements are soon set to follow.

Of Mice & Men Announce Spring Tour with Gore. and Until I Wake, Celebrating 15 Years of Music

0

Of Mice & Men are hitting the road this spring, with support from Gore. and Until I Wake. Vocalist Aaron Pauley comments on the upcoming tour, saying, “We’re beyond stoked to be announcing these dates with Until I Wake and Gore. We want to thank all of our fans for the years of support and we can’t wait to celebrate the last 15 years of music with you all at these shows.”

Taking all creative matters into their own hands, the Southern California quartet self-produced and engineered all of the songs on Tether, their astonishing eighth album. Pauley mixed and mastered the album, while Arteaga designed and painted the album’s artwork. As a legion of devoted listeners worldwide has come to expect, guitarists Phil Manansala and Alan Ashby, Aaron, and Tino poured their hearts and souls into every note, creating another sonic document of their lives.

“With this one, we weren’t really focused on how it sounded as much as we focused on how it felt,” Pauley explains. “And that’s a weird thing to do when all you’re working with is sound. But that was really the goal. And we walked away from making it, feeling like we’ve accomplished that.”

OM&M take sobering looks at depression, anxiety, loneliness, and existential dread, powering through the darkness, and emphasizing the importance of creativity as a balm for mental health. A commanding tempest of sounds coalesces within Of Mice & Men, blending the uplifting eloquence of modern active rock with the atmospheric dissonance of experimental post-rock. The band first emerged as part of a vanguard of future aggressive rock hitmakers. Over the years, they’ve distinguished themselves with musicality, creative ambition, and resilient determination.

Album eight was no less ambitious. Tether is anchored by a reflective meditation on what it means to draw together as friends, family men, artists, and bandmates. What does it mean to be there for the people who depend on us, knowing we can’t fully protect them from the hardships of life?

The Of Mice & Men core since 2016 – Aaron, Alan, Tino, and Phil – maintain a powerful bond with their audience and each other, no matter the obstacles. Whether a powerful anthem or atmospheric confession, their songs translate in intimate clubs and massive festivals. “It’s about creating moments for people,” Pauley says. “Music is the soundtrack to people’s lives.”

David Bowie’s Berlin Trilogy Musicians Reunite For The D.A.M. Tour

0

David Bowie’s right-hand-musicians during his late-1970’s Berlin period reunite to celebrate the legacy of the albums they made together as Carlos Alomar presents The D.A.M. Trilogy – touring over 16 European dates in late 2025. Touring with original Heroes bassist, George Murray, for the first time since 1979, the special, audiovisual Back To Berlin Tour 2025 opens in the German capital’s Metropol concert hall on Fri 7 November 2025.

Honoring their work together, as well as Bowie’s enduring legacy, legendary guitarist, Alomar, who recorded with Bowie across 11 albums, and Murray pledge to faithfully perform arrangements from the three albums recorded in Berlin – Low, Heroes and Lodger. Having lost drummer, Dennis Davis, to cancer in 2016 the D.AM Trilogy band includes four additional musicians, including Tin Machine and Bowie’s Live Aid guitarist, Kevin Armstrong, to bring the intricacies of rarely, if ever performed songs vividly to life.

Opening the tour with two nights just footsteps from Hansa Studios, the legendary creative HQ for Bowie and the band as they laid down century-defining songs and deep cuts, like D.J., It’s No Game and other songs that were never added to live sets. The band will then move on to perform in the UK and Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium and France. In addition to Alomar, Murray and their band, the tour welcomes visionary video editor and Bowie archivist, Nacho, to complete the second of the two, essential pillars of Bowie’s legacy – vision. Renowned for his extraordinary work in curating and reimagining Bowie’s iconic visuals, Nacho will bring a dynamic, immersive video experience to the stage.

Seeing this tour as a way to give back to the community that has supported them for decades, Alomar explains the motivation to tour almost a decade after Bowie’s death.

“Where other bands have toured Bowie’s songs extensively since his passing, these songs haven’t been performed the way they were meant to be. Until now,” he says. “The Spiders from Mars are well known, but the D.A.M. Trio remains rock and roll’s best-kept secret. It’s time to honor our legacy, including Dennis’s.

“The fans we’ve met along the way are the ones who have driven this. We feel obliged to do it because they’ve waited so long for us to return to these songs. This could very well be our last spin of Europe.”

With Bowie’s vocals being sung by New York-based singer, Cunio, the band brought together by Alomar includes not only Murray and Armstrong, but Tal Bergman (Chaka Khan, Joe Bonamassa, LL Cool J) on drums, Axel Tosca (George Clinton, Robert Glasper, Louie Vega) on keys and synths and Lea Lorien (Scissor Sisters, David Morales) providing backing vocals.

The confirmed list of European tour dates for Carlos Alomar presents The D.A.M Trilogy, Back To Berlin Tour 2025, are as follows:

Lady Gaga Announces New Album ‘MAYHEM’ and Star-Studded 2025 Performances

0

13-time Grammy Award-winner Lady Gaga today announced her seventh studio album, MAYHEM, due March 7 via Interscope Records. The announcement follows a week of teasers on her website, which was relaunched today alongside a new storefront featuring the first of several merch drops to celebrate the highly anticipated project. Blending the eclectic energy that first captivated her fans with a bold, fearless artistic vision, MAYHEM marks a triumphant return to Gaga’s pop roots. The album explores themes of chaos and transformation, celebrating music’s power to unite, provoke, and heal.

“The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved,” said Gaga. Far from a nostalgic throwback, MAYHEM reinvents her early sound with a kaleidoscopic approach that draws from her expansive musical library while embracing a fresh and fearless artistic perspective. Gaga describes the creative process as “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”

The 14-track project-which features previously released songs “Disease” and “Die With a Smile”-was executive produced by Gaga, Michael Polansky and Andrew Watt. Producers on the album include Gaga, Andrew Watt, Cirkut, and Gesaffelstein.

“Disease” was hailed by The Independent as “her best in a long while,” with The Guardian praising its “fizzing, distorted synths” and “pounding, slightly industrial beat.” Rolling Stone highlighted its “cavernous synth line” and “classic Gaga shout-along chorus.” Directed by Tanu Muino, the music video for “Disease” was lauded by Vogue as “one of the best videos of the year,” while W celebrated its “cinematic, almost theater-like experience.”

“Die With a Smile,” Gaga’s chart-topping collaboration with Bruno Mars, has become a global sensation. Currently in its third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the ballad also topped the Billboard Global 200 and Spotify’s Top 50 Global, setting a record as the fastest song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify. With over 2.7 billion streams to date, the song is nominated for two 2025 Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Billboard called it “a match made in Grammy heaven,” while The New York Times described it as “a romantic, lightly apocalyptic slow-dance.”

Gaga will debut the third single and accompanying music video from MAYHEM for fans on February 2, airing during a commercial break at the 2025 GRAMMY Awards. The full tracklist for the album will be revealed at a later date.

Ahead of the Grammys, Gaga will join artists including Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Nicks, and Joni Mitchell to perform at FireAid on January 30, benefiting the people and communities devastated by the recent LA wildfires. On March 17, she will be honored with the 2025 iHeartRadio Innovator Award at the 12th annual iHeartRadio Music Awards, followed by a headlining performance at Coachella on April 11 and 18.

Katy Perry Announces Massive 2025 Lifetimes Tour: Full List of Dates and Venues

0

After selling out shows around the world for her upcoming The Lifetimes Tour, Katy Perry has announced that she will launch an extensive run in the United States, beginning in Houston, Texas on May 7 at Toyota Center.

Produced by Live Nation and announced today, the U.S. leg of the tour will also include concerts at United Center in Chicago, IL (May 12), the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, CA (July 15), Madison Square Garden in New York City (August 11), Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena (August 19), and Paycom Center (May 9), which will mark Katy’s first ever performance in Oklahoma City. Touring in support of her new album, 143, the global pop superstar will be performing all of her hits, drawing from her extensive catalog.

Katy will launch the Lifetimes Tour in Mexico, with seven arena shows. In Australia, the demand for tickets to her initial eight arena shows was so strong that five shows were added. The summer will bring Katy back to North America where, in addition to crisscrossing the U.S., she’ll play seven sold-out arena shows in Canada.

September will bring her to South America, where her arena dates in Buenos Aires are sold out and limited tickets remain for her stadium show in Chile. Katy will wrap up the 2025 tour in the UK and Europe, where popular demand led to multiple added shows in London, Paris, and new shows in Munich and Bologna.

Katy launched 143 – a bold, exuberant dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message – with a sold-out headline show at Rock in Rio in Brazil in September 2024. Rolling Stone Australia observed, “Perry’s midnight set on the Palco Mundo stage where she would play her newest tunes for the first time became the high point of the night. Taking the stage as fireworks lit up the Rio sky, Perry had the 100,000-strong crowd going wild with dazzling visuals and pyrotechnics that transformed the City of Rock into a vibrant spectacle…”

The newly announced dates include stops in Tulsa, Oklahoma, home of the Bob Dylan Center, as well as Wichita, Kansas; Mankato, Minnesota; and Green Bay, Wisconsin. These dates mark a continuation of Dylan’s tour that began in 2021 and has been celebrated for its intimate settings and masterful performances. While the Tulsa concert is already sold out, fans can still grab tickets for the other shows starting January 31.

  • March 25 – Tulsa, OK @ Tulsa Theater
  • March 29 – Wichita, KS @ Century II Concert Hall
  • April 4 – Mankato, MN @ Mayo Clinic Health Systems Event Center
  • April 6 – Green Bay, WI @ The Weidner-Cofrin Family Hall

Whether more dates will be added remains to be seen, but Dylan’s choice of smaller cities offers a rare opportunity for fans in these areas to witness his legendary live performance.

Dylan’s name has been buzzing in the entertainment world, thanks to the critical and commercial success of A Complete Unknown, the biopic starring Timothée Chalamet as the younger Dylan. The film, which explores pivotal moments in Dylan’s life and career, has garnered multiple Golden Globe and Oscar nominations, cementing Dylan’s legacy not only in music but also in cinematic storytelling.

Dylan himself commented on the film, humorously posting on social media before its release:

“Timmy’s a brilliant actor, so I’m sure he’s going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me.”
