Little Feat and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Unite for 2025 Dirty Feat Tour

0

With over 100 combined years of touring, Little Feat and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band have each performed their music to audiences across the world. Now these two monumental bands, who share a mutual admiration, are joining forces on the road for the first time with their Dirty Feat Tour. The special five-date run of shows, set for the western United States, will begin June 21, 2025, in Airway Heights, Washington, and wrap June 26, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Tickets and VIP packages for three of the five shows announced today (Airway Heights, Washington – June 21, Redmond, Washington – June 22, and Bonner, Montana – June 24) go on sale Friday, January 24 at 10 a.m. local time at littlefeat.net and nittygritty.com. The venues and on-sale dates for Pocatello, Idaho, and Salt Lake City, Utah will be announced soon.

As evidenced by a 2025 Grammy Award nomination for its 2024 album Sam’s Place (Best Traditional Blues Album), the legendary Little Feat continues to build on a deep, 50-plus year history with no end in sight. Utilizing a combination of elite musicianship and brilliant, idiosyncratic songwriting to create a repertoire that transcends all boundaries, Little Feat has always been about the songs and musicianship—as its honest and durable legacy illustrates. California rock, funk, folk, jazz, country, and rockabilly mixed with New Orleans swamp boogie led to a powerful sound that has kept the audience dancing for decades. Songs like “Dixie Chicken,” “Spanish Moon,” “Fat Man in the Bathtub,” and “Feats Don’t Fail Me Now” display a continuous thread of excellence that embraces the qualities of exploration that make up Little Feat and its music, while honoring their brothers that began this journey decades ago: Lowell George, Richie Hayward, and Paul Barrere. Little Feat is in stellar form with its current lineup: Scott Sharrard (lead guitar, vocals); Tony Leone (drums, vocals), founder Bill Payne (keys, vocals), Fred Tackett (guitars, vocals), Kenny Gradney (bass), and Sam Clayton (percussion, vocals).

The Grammy-, CMA- and IBMA-Award-winning Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, currently on its ALL THE GOOD TIMES: The Farewell Tour celebrating nearly 60 years of music making, remains one of the most accomplished bands in American roots music. The group’s current lineup is one of the most compelling in the group’s storied history, featuring founding members Jeff Hanna (lead vocals, guitar) and Jimmie Fadden (drums, harmonica, vocals); Bob Carpenter (keys, vocals)—a member since 1980; Jim Photoglo (bass, vocals); Jaime Hanna (guitar, vocals); and Ross Holmes (fiddle, mandolin, vocals). NGDB played its first gig in 1966 in Southern California as a jug band and by 1969 had become a cornerstone of the burgeoning country-rock community. The band’s career breakthrough came in 1970 with the release of “Mr. Bojangles,” a folksy Top 10 pop hit that brought roots music to the national forefront. In 1972, NGDB released the first of three groundbreaking Will The Circle Be Unbroken records, collaborating with many of the best bluegrass, country, and folk artists in the world. The band has recorded 16 Top 10 U.S. Country hits, highlighted by three #1’s: “Fishin’ In The Dark,” “Modern Day Romance,” and “Long Hard Road.” NGDB’s most recent recording is the critically acclaimed album, Dirt Does Dylan.

Los Lonely Boys Announce Highly Anticipated 2025 Tour

0

Brotherhood and authenticity are at the core of Grammy-winning Texican rock trio LOS LONELY BOYS, who are hitting the road with their highly anticipated 2025 US TOUR. Bringing their signature blend of rock, blues, country, soul, and Tejano influences to fans across the west coast and midwest, the Garza brothers—Henry, Jojo, and Ringo, Jr.— promise an unforgettable run of live dates filled with incredible tourmates (Del Castillo, Steel Pulse, Cristeros, Texican Legacy, and Los Lobos). Renown for blending Latin influences with Country and Rock, Los Lonely Boys create a sound uniquely true to them, for their chart-topping hits like “Heaven” and “More Than Love,” electrifying live performances, and their effortlessly authentic and universally relatable genre-bending rock tunes.

The 2025 tour kicks off on February 7th in Roswell, NM and will make stops in 15 cities nationwide before concluding on May 3rd in Flagstaff, AZ. Fans can look forward to hearing classics from the band’s Grammy-winning catalog as well as new material from their 2024 album, Resurrection, which was their first record in 11 years. Released last August via BMG, Resurrection represents a return to form for the GRAMMY-winning, multi-platinum trio of Texican brothers, who have performed everywhere from the GRAMMY telecast to the World Series to recent tours with The Who.

Lead single from the record, “Wish You Would” conjures the group’s classic sound, combining breezy guitar leads with hard-earned doses of wisdom. Rejuvenated and more cosmically attuned than ever before, Resurrection rekindles the sonic fire that bonds the Los Lonely Boys brotherhood, while also paying respects to Texas legends like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Freddy Fender, among others.

About Los Lonely Boys: The story of how the Garza brothers took their trademark “Texican rock & roll” from San Angelo, Texas to worldwide fame is one of epic proportions. The three young brothers, sons of Enrique “Ringo” Garza Sr., are a second-generation sibling band who found their big break after starting to play Austin clubs in the early 2000s. They got signed to Epic, and their hit single, “Heaven,” propelled them to stardom. They sold 2.5 million records, won a GRAMMY®, and received five more GRAMMY® nominations in the span of their career.

The downtime of their hiatus, taken after 23 years of relentless recording and touring, and which served their hearts and their families well, also served to plant new seeds of creativity. “We grew as husbands and fathers during our  time off. We wanted to be there for our families,” says Henry. With the pandemic, “one domino fell after another,” and the break lengthened due to extenuating circumstances. As such, a different kind of divinity stepped in to interrupt the band’s slumber. The Who invited Los Lonely Boys to open a string of shows in 2022. They agreed, because, well, who can say, “No” to The Who? The Boys newest record, Resurrection, dropped in 2024, marking this new era of their career.

Los Lonely Boys are Henry (guitar and vocals), Jojo (bass and vocals), and Ringo (drums and vocals).

Rising indie-pop duo The Ivy—comprised of singer/guitarist Wyatt Clem and synth player/bassist Shawn Abhari—are thrilled to announce their Spring 2025 North American tour.

The Tulsa-based duo will be joined by the captivating LA-based indie-pop singer and songwriter, Lyncs, for the entire tour. Kicking off on March 25th in Albuquerque, the tour will take The Ivy and Lyncs through major cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and Nashville, before wrapping up in San Antonio on April 23rd.

In addition to the tour, The Ivy and Lyncs are excited to unveil their upcoming collaboration, “Don’t Fall Asleep To This,” out February 21st. The track is a poignant anthem that beautifully captures the complexities of long-distance love, blending The Ivy’s signature sound with Lyncs’ heartfelt lyricism.

The Ivy is the brainchild of Tulsa-based musicians and producers Wyatt Clem and Shawn Abhari, who first crossed paths at The Academy of Contemporary Music in Oklahoma City. Their instant creative spark ignited a journey of relentless experimentation and sonic boundary-pushing. Since that fateful meeting, Wyatt and Shawn have honed a sound that’s as fresh as it is addictive, blending sharp songwriting with innovative production.

They made their debut as The Ivy in 2017 with viral singles like “Gold” and “Have You Ever Been In Love.” Building on this momentum, they went on to release three EPs and their 2024 debut album, A Door Still Open, solidifying their place as one of indie-pop’s most compelling acts. Enchanting audiences with their high-energy live performances, they’ve headlined their own US tour, co-headlined with DBMK, and shared stages with acts like Grayscale, The Band CAMINO, and LANY.

Lyncs, the musical project of American artist Jacqueline Hynes, hails from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Her musical journey began at the age of five with piano and violin, eventually evolving into writing and producing her own music.

Drawing inspiration from artists like Lorde, The 1975, and The Japanese House, Lyncs crafts dreamy choruses, layered electronic elements, and infectious melodies. Her music delves into themes of relationships, nostalgia, and self-discovery, creating a soundscape that resonates deeply with listeners.

In 2019, Lyncs gained acclaim for her debut EP, Every Time I Find The Meaning Of Life It Changes, known for its down-to-earth sound and heartfelt lyrics. She followed up with singles like “just being honest,” “Prom Queen,” and “Obvious,” collaborating with producers Keith Varon and Rob Ernst. Legendary Blues Rock Keyboardist Barry Goldberg Dies at 83, Leaving Behind a Legacy of Iconic Collaborations

0

Blues rock great Barry Goldberg has died in hospice care after a ten-year struggle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Gail Goldberg, his wife of 53 years, and son Aram were at this bedside The noted keyboard player, band leader, session man and songwriter was 83. Most recently he headed the Chicago Blues Reunion, a band that over the past two decades toured and recorded with an array of seasoned blues practitioners including Sam Lay, Nick Gravenites, Harvey Mandel, Corky Siegel, Tracy Nelson, Charlie Musselwhite, Jimmy Vivino, Marcy Levy and others.

Barry Goldberg, the centerpiece of the documentary film Born in Chicago, was in fact born in the Windy City on Christmas Day,1941. His mother Nettie Goldberg, née Nettie Becker, was a barrelhouse piano player in her own right and a veteran of the Jewish theater circuit. His father Frank Goldberg was one of eight children born to Ukrainian-Jewish immigrant parents, including US Supreme Court Justice Arthur Goldberg.

While still in high school, Goldberg befriended guitarist Mike Bloomfield; the two often ventured from Chicago’s northern suburbs to the inner city night clubs on the South Side where they, along with Paul Butterfield, Musselwhite and Siegel, became acquainted with, and were ultimately mentored by such first-generation blues legends as Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, the aforementioned Sam Lay and others. Goldberg played live with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band (which included his friend Bloomfield) when they backed Bob Dylan at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival; by “going electric,” this performance launched the folk rock revolution, as depicted in the hit film A Complete Unknown.

Goldberg’s relationship with Dylan transcended that historic moment as they would later go on to jam with Doug Sahm and The Band in Woodstock, NY. When Goldberg was on the cusp of signing a contract with RCA to record a solo album in 1973, Dylan told him to hold off until he spoke to Jerry Wexler at Atlantic. Dylan biographer Robert Shelton chronicled Dylan’s side of the ensuing conversation: “I’m on the phone with Jerry Wexler from Atlantic Records and I think we can work out a deal but I’m gonna have to produce you; that’s cool, isn’t it?” Barry’s response: “That’s really cool.” Barry Goldberg (1974) would become the only album Bob Dylan ever produced for another artist. When Wexler asked where the album should be made, Goldberg suggested Muscle Shoals, AL as that was where he had cut some of the fabled collaborations with Bloomfield that became the Two Jews Blues album in 1969 (which included Duane Allman). Some of the same players would also end up backing him on the Dylan/Wexler-produced project. Dylan, who had never been to Muscle Shoals, drove from California in his van with the ensuing sessions spanning five days and nights in August of 1973. Years later, Goldberg returned the favor when he produced Bob Dylan’s version of “People Get Ready” for Flashback , the feature film starring Dennis Hopper and Kiefer Sutherland for which he served as music supervisor.

As a session player, Goldberg contributed organ to Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels’ 1966 Top 5 hit “Devil With A Blue Dress On & Good Golly Miss Molly” and later worked on albums by Leonard Cohen, Ramones and Flying Burrito Brothers, among many others. His bond with Bloomfield continued as they formed The Electric Flag with Buddy Miles and Harvey Brooks. This band recorded A Long Time Comin’, a groundbreaking album for Columbia in 1968, and well as the soundtrack to The Trip, starring Peter Fonda.

Goldberg was the co-writer, with Gerry Goffin, of hits including “It’s Not The Spotlight” (Bobby Blue Bland, Rod Stewart) and “I’ve Got To Use My Imagination” (a #1 R&B record for Gladys Knight & The Pips; also recorded by Joe Cocker). Goldberg also co-produced with Saul Davis two award-winning Percy Sledge albums. He was co-writer with Gram Parsons of “Do You Know How It Feels,” recorded by the Flying Burrito Brothers. More recently, he toured and recorded with The Rides, a musical partnership with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Stephen Stills. Their two albums, released in 2013 and 2016, both hit #1 on Billboard’s Blues Albums chart.

After a tumultuous high school experience Goldberg enlisted in the Marines, completing basic training at Parris Island, SC. In 1970, he met Gail Fliashnick at the Chelsea Hotel in New York after Michael Bloomfield set them up. Within two weeks, they were engaged and were wed on May 15, 1971. She is a designer and artist from New York, who studied in Rome and at Temple University in Philadelphia. Their son Aram is a Los Angeles-based management executive.

5 Fascinating Facts About Adele’s “21”

Some albums don’t just tell a story—they become the story. Adele’s 21 is an emotional rollercoaster that redefined modern soul and pop music. With every note, it brought Adele’s personal struggles to life, resonating with millions worldwide. Here are five incredible behind-the-scenes facts about the album that turned pain into platinum.

1. A Breakup Fueled Creativity
Adele began working on 21 while still in a relationship, but it wasn’t until her breakup that the creative floodgates truly opened. Songs like “Rolling in the Deep” and “Someone Like You” were written within days of the split. Producer Paul Epworth helped her channel raw emotions into powerful melodies, crafting tracks that radiate anger, heartbreak, and resilience. The breakup wasn’t just an ending—it was the spark that ignited the album’s brilliance.

2. An Anthem Born by Chance
“Rolling in the Deep,” arguably the album’s signature track, almost didn’t exist. Originally, Adele intended to write a ballad, but Paul Epworth encouraged her to explore a more aggressive sound. The pounding drumbeat and fiery lyrics came together in a burst of inspiration. The track became a global anthem of empowerment, proving that heartbreak can lead to extraordinary triumph.

3. Rick Rubin’s Raw Vision
Legendary producer Rick Rubin brought a unique approach to 21. He insisted on live instrumentation and banned digital effects, capturing the organic intensity of Adele’s voice. Working in Malibu, Rubin pushed Adele out of her comfort zone, even bringing her to tears during recording sessions. His stripped-down methods gave tracks like “Don’t You Remember” and “One and Only” their timeless, heartfelt quality.

4. Inspired by the South
During her North American tour for 19, Adele fell in love with the sounds of Southern blues, country, and gospel. These influences shaped 21’s soulful aesthetic, with banjos, organs, and bluesy guitar riffs weaving through songs like “He Won’t Go” and “Take It All.” The result was a fusion of her UK roots with the raw emotion of Americana, creating a sound that felt both fresh and timeless.

5. A Demo That Became a Masterpiece
“Set Fire to the Rain” started as a simple demo with producer Fraser T Smith. Adele’s first take was so powerful that it became the final version. The song’s dramatic crescendos and sweeping strings made it a standout track, cementing Adele’s ability to turn personal turmoil into universally relatable art. The haunting ballad remains a fan favorite and a testament to the power of authenticity.

21 is a journey through love, loss, and redemption that changed the course of modern music. Adele’s vulnerability, combined with her powerhouse voice, made this record a cultural phenomenon. Even years later, its emotional resonance and musical brilliance remind us why 21 is one of the greatest albums of all time.
