Algal the Bard Transforms Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” into a Medieval Masterpiece

0

What if Iron Man wasn’t forged in the fires of heavy metal, but instead played in the candlelit halls of a medieval feast? Algal the Bard takes Black Sabbath’s classic and transforms it into something a knight would jam to after a long day on the battlefield.

Andrea Bocelli & Kendji Girac Reimagine “Je Vis Pour Elle” for Valentine’s Day

0

World-renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli has united with French chart-topper, Kendji Girac to revisit one of Bocelli’s most iconic tracks (‘Vivo per lei/I Live for Her’) with a new, spellbinding version, entitled Je Vis Pour Elle. Kendji, one of the most listened to and beloved artists on the French music scene, brings his unique vocal to the new French-language interpretation of Bocelli’s greatest hymn to love, released just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The Spanish rendition of the enduring classic, ‘Vivo por ella’, features on Bocelli’s current album Duets as a duet with five-time Latin GRAMMY and GRAMMY Award-winner KAROL G. On release it quickly went on to become the runaway hit of the album. This landark album, released on Decca Records / Sugar Music in 2024, celebrates Bocelli’s 30th anniversary in music, showcasing the remarkable collaborations across his career.

The original song, ‘Vivo per lei’, catapulted Andrea Bocelli to success in numerous countries when it was first released in 1995 on his album Bocelli. It topped the charts in France, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium and Panama, and has gone on to become one of the tenor’s highest-streaming tracks. The Spanish version, ‘Vivo por ella’ was originally sung with Marta Sánchez, and it too has enjoyed major success. Today’s French re-imagining of the track, which has spanned generations, offers a fresh and vibrant take on a song that has stayed with Bocelli for an incredible three decades.

Bocelli’s album, Duets, brings together many more of his beloved collaborations alongside brand new songs to mark his 30th anniversary year. This career-spanning 32-track collection also includes duets with Ed Sheeran, Céline Dion, Sarah Brightman, Dua Lipa, Jennifer Lopez, Giorgia, and Luciano Pavarotti, alongside new superstar duets recorded especially for the album with Shania Twain, Chris Stapleton, Gwen Stefani, Marc Anthony, Sofia Carson, Lauren Daigle, Elisa, Matteo Bocelli and Hans Zimmer.

With nearly 90 million records sold worldwide and over 14 billion streams, Andrea Bocelli is one of the most successful classical artists of all time. He has one of the most recognizable voices in the entertainment industry and with his new album Duets, he continues to surprise and enchant his fans 30 years on. The breadth of collaborations throughout his career so far is testament not only to his remarkable voice, but also highlights his lasting influence and artistry.

Brenda Lee’s ‘Love You!’ Deluxe Edition Brings Rare Early Tracks to Streaming

0

In honour of Valentine’s Day, the legendary Brenda Lee’s long out-of-print 1963 early career collection, aptly titled Love You!, is now available via MCA Nashville/UMe as an expanded digital Deluxe Edition with 20 incredibly rare tracks making their streaming debuts. With this release, every one of Lee’s recordings that she made for Decca between 1956-62 are finally now available digitally.

Subtitled “Early hits that made her famous,” Love You! was originally released in 1963 in the UK by Ace Of Hearts, Decca UK’s label whose purpose was to release Decca’s back catalog of US repertoire in the UK. The collection combined the A & B sides of non-album singles that were released in the US between 1957 and 1961, starting with “Love You Til I Die,” the B-side to her hit “Dynamite,” recorded by “Little Miss Dynamite” when she was just 12 years old. Some of the many highlights on the original collection include the rockabilly classics “Dynamite,” “Ring-A-My Phone,” “Rock-A-Bye Baby Blues,” “Rock The Bop,” “I’m Learning About Love,” “Bill Bailey, Won’t You Please Come Home” and “One Teenager To Another.”

Love You! has now been expanded to include 20 additional non-album singles, rarities, and unissued recordings, all recorded between 1956 and 1962. The tracks, which have been released over the years on various international compilations of Lee’s early years, including 1974’s German compilation, The Legends Of Rock Vol. 2 Rare Items; 1984’s UK collection, The Early Years; and Germany’s Bear Family Records’ 1995 comprehensive box set, Little Miss Dynamite, are all now available to stream for the first time. The new additions include many of Lee’s earliest recordings such as her incredible cover of Hank Williams’ “Your Cheatin’ Heart,” recorded in 1956 but not released for nearly three decades, as well several “alternate versions,” “first versions” and “second versions” of tracks like “Bigelow 6-200,” the B-side to her first single, “Jambalaya,” the teenage heartbreaker, “Careless, That’ All” and her take on the Ink Spots’ classic “If I Didn’t Care.” Other standouts include “Some People,” “Funny Feelin’,” “Time Is Not Enough” and “Sweet Lovin’.”

When Love You! was released in 1963, the essay on the album sleeve exclaimed about Brenda Lee, “Still in her teens, she can look back on a long, and continuous, succession of hit records,” but the writer couldn’t have known how right they were, as the future Rock and Roll and Country Hall of Famer was just getting started on what would become a more than seven decade career. Now Brendators and lovers of early rockabilly and country, can stream some of Lee’s most formative recordings.

Black Eyed Peas Celebrate 30 Years with Vinyl Reissues of Classic Albums

0

Six-time GRAMMY Award-winning multiplatinum Los Angeles-based pop-rap group Black Eyed Peas commemorate their 30th anniversary with a series of limited-edition physical reissues throughout 2025. Today, the pioneering collective proudly present new vinyl versions of Elephunk [2003], Monkey Business [2005], and The E.N.D. (THE ENERGY NEVER DIES) [2009]. Each album may be purchased as either a limited-edition 2LP color vinyl—Sea Blue for Elephunk, Ruby Red for Monkey Business, and Tranlucent Green for The E.N.D. (THE ENERGY NEVER DIES)—or standard 2LP black vinyl. All versions can be purchased HERE.

In addition, on February 28, their debut album Behind The Front [which debuted in 1998] will be released on both Bone color vinyl and standard black vinyl. Pre-order HERE.

Black Eyed Peas have indelibly impacted three decades of popular music and culture and continue to tour and perform their greatest hits and contemporary work. I     n 2003, the 2x-Platinum Elephunk elevated the group to an internationally known household name. Out of five GRAMMY Award nominations, they took home “Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group” for the 3x-Platinum smash “Let’s Get It Started.” The record also housed the gold-certified hit “Where Is The Love,” which boasts an assist from Justin Timberlake and cracked the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. “Where Is The Love” continues to be a go-to anthemic track in times of turmoil, giving fans hope and comfort that we can band together in emergencies and overcome surges of hate and discrimination.

2005 saw Monkey Business bow at #2 on the Billboard 200. It eventually went 3x-Platinum fueled by the Gold-certified “Don’t Phunk with My Heart” and 2x-Platinum “My Humps.” The former marked their second GRAMMY Award for “Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group,” while the latter snagged their third GRAMMY in the same category.

After years of performances and recording, The E.N.D. (THE ENERGY NEVER DIES) enshrined Black Eyed Peas as a cultural phenomenon. It notched their first #1 debut on the Billboard 200 and yielded a procession of Billboard Hot 100 #1 entries, namely the 2x-Platinum “Imma Be,” 5x-Platinum “Boom Boom Pow,” and RIAA Diamond-certified “I Gotta Feeling.” Among its myriad of accolades, The E.N.D. (THE ENERGY NEVER DIES) impressively garnered three GRAMMY Awards, including “Best Pop Vocal Album” as well as “Best Short Form Music Video” for “Boom Boom Pow” and “Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group” for “I Gotta Feeling.” In the record’s wake, they delivered a showstopping halftime performance at Super Bowl XLV.

Going back to the beginning, Behind The Front formally introduced Black Eyed Peas. This fan favorite includes “Karma” [feat. Einstein Brown]. Upon release, Rolling Stone applauded how, “’Behind the Front’ offers an organic mixture of sampled melodies and live instruments aimed at those of us seeking a little enlightenment with our well-oiled boogie.” In retrospect, Tyler, The Creator famously praised Behind The Front on Twitter, going on to write, “thank you for helping shape my ear and getting me started to write words down.

Jon Pardi Drops Steamy Soul Rocker “Love The Lights Out” from Honkytonk Hollywood

0

“Setting trends and living in jukeboxes for a decade as he does a delicate dance between modernity and traditionality” (Country Central), “California king” Jon Pardi is gearing up to release his fifth studio album. Sharing more new music from HONKYTONK HOLLYWOOD set for release on April 11, Pardi today unveils “Love The Lights Out,” a flirtatious track that perfectly captures the swirling ecstasy of desire. Co-written by Pardi, Jimi Bell, and Matt Dragstrem, the track melts into a steamy soul rocker with slide guitar hooks and a throbbing pulse – a soundtrack for love that takes its time.

“Sometimes, you can’t get your boots off fast enough,” notes Pardi. “But, this isn’t about one of those nights. This one is for appreciating when you’ve got something good and can take your time.”

Pardi enlisted renowned producer Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Brothers Osborne, Lainey Wilson) where he spent three dedicated weeks immersed in the studio, crafting each track from the ground up with his touring band handling the majority of the recording. “Love The Lights Out” follows the release from high acclaim of the lead single “Friday Night Heartbreaker,” which American Songwriter hailed for “kicking down the door” to Pardi’s next musical chapter. The track pulses with high-octane energy, fusing hard rock influences with Pardi’s signature twang, creating a bold and electrifying introduction to the 17-track album. Meanwhile, the title track “Honkytonk Hollywood” sits at the heart of the record, lush and gritty, perfectly capturing the essence of Pardi’s dual world. The song blends Southern rock swagger with a touch of neon-lit nostalgia, embodying the complexities of his life and mindset—a flawless fusion of down-home grit and Hollywood shine. Pre-order the album HERE.

With four Top 5 albums which include 2016’s Platinum No. 1, CALIFORNIA SUNRISE, and Pardi’s reputation for punchy, against-the-wind bravado has only grown. Never afraid to break from the pack, fourteen RIAA-certified singles feature six No. One’s (like the back-to-back 6x-Platinum “Head Over Boots” and “Dirt On My Boots”), and with years of blue-collar barnstorming behind him, the California native has earned his international headlining acclaim, alongside 9.3 billion global streams. After headlining shows in the US and Australia including CMC Rocks this spring, the multi-platinum country star and “spirited entertainer, with infectious energy” (Star Tribune) kicks off his HONKYTONK HOLLYWOOD TOUR on April 25, hitting arenas and amphitheaters across the US with support from Corey Kent on select dates and Kassi Ashton.

Olivia Dean Releases “It Isn’t Perfect But It Might Be” for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy

0

Multi-BRIT and Mercury nominated singer songwriter Olivia Dean returns with the release of ‘It Isn’t Perfect But It Might Be’ (from Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy), out via Capitol Records.

The song serves as the official lead track and end credits for the new chapter in the blockbuster romantic comedy franchise: Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. Capturing the classic charm and wit synonymous with the franchise, the track will play over the end credits, earning its place as an unforgettable part of the Bridget Jones experience.

Working Title’s Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, from Universal Pictures, StudioCanal and Miramax, streams exclusively on Peacock in the U.S. beginning February 13, 2025, and arrives in theatres internationally beginning February 12, 2025.

Written and recorded exclusively for the film, ‘It Isn’t Perfect But It Might Be’ is a romantic ballad that reflects Bridget’s whimsical, complex and emotional journey in the film. With Dean’s rich and soulful voice taking centre stage, the track effortlessly blends themes of passion, vulnerability and the nuances of modern romance – all while maintaining the playful, heartfelt tone fans of the series, and Dean herself, love. A perfect musical companion for Bridget’s new chapter on the big screen, the song will also feature in a nostalgic montage of the franchise’s most memorable moments, shown during the film’s closing scenes.

Speaking on the song Olivia said: “I’ve always loved the Bridget Jones films, they’re timeless classics. After seeing Mad About The Boy I was so moved by the journey we’ve watched Bridget go on over the years. ‘It Isn’t Perfect But It Might Be’ is about giving yourself permission to love again after grief, and trusting that things might just work out after all, even if it’s not how you expected them to. This is the first time I’ve been a part of something like this and I can’t wait for it to come out!”

Directed by Michael Morris (To LeslieBetter Call Saul) and starring two-time Oscar winner Renée Zellweger in her iconic role as Bridget Jones, the film, based on the best-selling book series by Helen Fielding, reunites its all-star cast, including Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, and Colin Firth, alongside new characters played by Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a SlaveChildren of Men) and Leo Woodall (One DayWhite Lotus).

‘It Isn’t Perfect But It Might Be’ brings back the relatably flawed, yet endearing Bridget that audiences have grown to love across three previous hit films. Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy will also include Dean’s lauded 2023 single ‘Dive’, taken from her critically acclaimed first studio album ‘Messy’, expressing the emotion and charm that have defined Bridget’s journey, while complementing the film’s nostalgic tone.

In the film, Bridget is facing a new chapter in her life, having been widowed four years earlier when the love of her life, Mark Darcy, was killed on a humanitarian mission in Sudan. She’s now juggling being a single mum, starting a new career and forging a new path toward life and love. The film reflects the realisation that life and love are never perfect—an idea beautifully captured in both the story and song. Dean’s undeniable talent have cemented her status as one of the UK’s standout artists and ‘It Isn’t Perfect But It Might Be’ further highlights her unmistakable artistry, offering fans a glimpse of more exciting releases still to come.

Olivia Dean is a multi-BRIT and Mercury Prize-nominated singer-songwriter who has quickly become one of the most exciting musical talents in the UK to date. Renowned for her distinctive fusion of neo-soul, R&B, and jazz, she has carved out a unique sound that blends timeless genres with a modern flair, earning her widespread acclaim from the industry and fans alike. With over 5.6M+ Spotify monthly listeners worldwide, she has earned a reputation for her soulful powerhouse vocals, emotive songwriting, and signature style. Dean’s music has captivated audiences globally, and her contribution to Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy marks her first collaboration with the beloved film franchise.

Two-time Academy Award®winner Renée Zellweger returns to the role that established a romantic-comedy heroine for the ages, as Bridget, now a widowed single mother, must juggle work, parenthood and romance. With the help of her loyal friends, Bridget navigates encounters with a younger man—and a series of awkward interactions with her son’s science teacher—as she strives to forge a new path toward life and love.

Today, two-time GRAMMY Award winning global superstar, Sabrina Carpenter, releases the deluxe version of her chart topping album, Short n’ Sweet – listen HERE.  Short n’ Sweet (Deluxe) features five additional songs including a duet with global icon, Dolly Parton, on “Please Please Please” and “Busy Woman” which Sabrina debuted live on her sold-out headlining arena tour. Alongside the deluxe, Sabrina released a video with Dolly for “Please Please Please.” The video was shot in Nashville and co-directed by Sabrina and Sean Price Williams.

Originally released last August, Short n’ Sweet topped the charts worldwide and had one of the biggest global debuts of 2024. Upon release, Short n’ Sweet skyrocketed to the top for three consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, becoming only the second album in 2024 to spend its first three weeks atop the list. The album’s opening track, “Taste,” captured #1 on Spotify’s US chart, dethroning Sabrina’s own “Please Please Please” and making it the 3rd song off her album to hit #1.

The album earned Sabrina six GRAMMY nods as a first time GRAMMY nominee. Sabrina took home the coveted “Best Pop Vocal Album” award for Short n’ Sweet along with “Best Pop Solo Performance” for the album’s lead single, “Espresso.” She also made her debut on the GRAMMY’s stage with a medley of “Espresso/Please Please Please” to which Harper’s Bazaar said “if Carpenter was already a rising pop princess before tonight, then her Grammys debut has cemented her status as pop royalty.”

Earlier this week, The BRIT Awards announced Sabrina will be joining the lineup as both a performer and honoree. In addition to being nominated twice for international artist of the year and international song of the year for “Espresso,” she will be receiving the Global Success, becoming the first international artist to receive it.

Next month, Sabrina also kicks off the sold-out European leg of her highly acclaimed Short n’ Sweet Tour in Dublin and will hit arenas across Europe and the UK including London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin and more. Due to demand, additional shows were added in Zurich, Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm. This run follows the incredibly successful 33 date sold-out North American leg which wrapped last November with a 3 night run in Los Angeles.

Sabrina will be returning to Saturday Night Live this weekend to make a guest appearance for their 50th Anniversary Special. She made her debut as the musical guest on the season finale of Saturday Night Live last May. Sabrina also just graced the cover of Vogue US for the first time – see the cover/read the feature here.
