Triller Saves Creators’ TikTok Content Ahead of Ban

0

Triller Corp, a creator-focused social media and live-streaming event platform, unveils the option for creators to preserve their TikTok content ahead of the congressional mandate set to go into effect on January 19, 2025.

Triller makes it easy for creators to save their TikTok content at savemytiktoks.com with just a few clicks using the technology of Amplify.ai, a Triller company. After signing up or logging in to the Triller app, creators will have access to all their saved TikTok content in minutes. Soon, creators will be able to seamlessly migrate and publish all content to their Triller profile.

“After listening to creators, it became clear there was a very real concern that the content they had spent so much time and resources creating could just disappear,” said Sean Kim, CEO of Triller App. “Creators are the foundation of Triller and we are dedicated to protecting their livelihoods, so we quickly came up with a solution to not only save their content, but easily move it to a new home in the Triller app.”

In the wake of the TikTok ban, Triller offers social media users a US-based platform where algorithms and revenue streams are creator-friendly and data is secure and controlled by the user.

“Triller’s mission is to become the most creator-focused social platform in the world offering discovery, monetization, and ownership,” said Kim, who joined Triller shortly after the merger with AGBA. “We are committed to protecting the creator communities that have invested years of content creation on platforms like TikTok”.

Triller’s 2025 transformation arrives at the perfect time, offering creators a seamless transition from TikTok amidst the platform’s uncertainties. “We’re building something revolutionary, a platform that truly puts creators first,” said Kim. “The next generation of Triller App is about giving creators the tools, control, and opportunities they’ve always deserved.”

As Triller prepares to unveil its revamped platform in early 2025, it’s not just a new beginning for creators – it’s a bold step forward for the entire creator economy. In addition to giving creators a digital vault to save their TikTok content, Triller promises a platform where ownership, growth, and meaningful monetization are finally within reach.

Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation Donates $500,000 to Los Angeles Fire Relief

0

The fires raging in the Los Angeles area have relentlessly wreaked havoc and widespread destruction since January 7 and, sadly, do not show signs of slowing down. Despite containment progress over the weekend, officials warn residents to stay vigilant as the Santa Ana winds return and are expected to reach up to 70 MPH over the coming days, creating critical fire conditions. In the past week, the community has suffered at least 24 lives lost, nearly 100,000 people under evacuation orders, 40,000 acres burned, and more than 12,000 structures—commercial and residential—destroyed. However, numbers cannot articulate the magnitude of anguish as the disaster upends families and dismantles livelihoods.

Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands, is granting $500,000 to relief efforts carried out by the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund.

The California Community Foundation (CCF) has a long history of ensuring resources reach those most in need. It leverages partnerships with community-based organizations and government agencies while using data from CalFire and the CDC’s Social Vulnerability Index to prioritize underserved communities. For the LA County wildfires, CCF has activated its Wildfire Recovery Fund to complement immediate relief and address the long-term recovery needs of neighborhoods. The fund’s disaster and recovery efforts support an array of critical recovery services, including housing, case management, mental health, and medical care for displaced residents. It also aids in rebuilding essential infrastructure like emergency communication systems and offers financial disaster assistance, labor law education, and immigration services to low-wage workers and immigrant families. AWMH is donating $250,000 to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund.

The Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF) has established the Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund. A smaller agency, PCF is entrenched within the community, poised to leverage connections with civic and nonprofit leaders to ensure its aid reaches those who need it most. The fund will support immediate needs during relief efforts as the fires continue to spread. It will also support critical long-term recovery efforts after the fires are extinguished and the community embarks upon the seemingly impossible task of rebuilding what has been demolished. AWMH is donating $250,000 to the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund.

Eric Clapton’s Iconic ‘MTV Unplugged’ Premieres January 2025 in Theaters and on Paramount+

0

MTV today announced the release of ERIC CLAPTON UNPLUGGED…OVER 30 YEARS LATER from its trailblazing, Grammy and Emmy Award-winning global music franchise MTV UNPLUGGED. The 90-minute special will premiere in select U.S. and U.K. theaters on Monday, January 27 and Tuesday, January 28, 2025 before it is available to stream on Paramount+ beginning Wednesday, February 12, 2025 in the U.S. and globally.

Considered one of the most iconic installments of the MTV Unplugged series, 18x GRAMMY Award-winner Eric Clapton originally recorded his unforgettable hour-long performance of ERIC CLAPTON UNPLUGGED in 1992 at Bray Studios in Windsor, England. In this all-new extended, remixed and remastered edition, ERIC CLAPTON UNPLUGGED…OVER 30 YEARS LATER will feature exclusive content of Clapton discussing the inspiration behind specific songs and performances with the crew just before he took the stage, seamlessly integrated with the performance footage.

Tickets for the theatrical release are available now, exclusively at Dolby Atmos capable theaters in the U.S. and U.K. During the intimate performance, Clapton reimagined his catalog with first-time acoustic arrangements of hits including “Layla,” “Tears in Heaven,” and more. He also paid homage to the blues music that influenced him, performing classics including “Before You Accuse Me,” originally recorded by Bo Diddley; “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out,” originally recorded by Bessie Smith; and more.

The subsequently released live album UNPLUGGED, released in August 1992, became a monumental success selling over 26 million copies worldwide and dominating charts worldwide. UNPLUGGED went on to become the best-selling live album of all time.

Clapton is the only 3x inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: as a solo artist and separately as a member of the Yardbirds and of Cream. In his solo career, he has sold 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time.

Craft Recordings’ Original Jazz Classics Unveils Five Reissues To Kick Off 2025

0

Craft Recordings is excited to announce the first reissues of 2025 from Original Jazz Classics, the series that revisits seminal and rare jazz albums celebrated by critics and aficionados alike. The latest releases include Joe Pass’ Virtuoso, Wes Montgomery’s The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery, Thelonious Monk’s Thelonious Himself and Miles Davis’ The Musings of Miles and Walkin’. All of these albums can be pre-ordered now, with releases rolling out between February 28 and April 18.

The reissues feature lacquers cut from the original tapes (AAA) by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio (Wes Montgomery is the stereo version and was cut from a tape copy), 180-gram vinyl pressed at RTI and tip-on jackets reproducing the original artwork. All titles will also be released digitally in 192/24 hi-res audio on the same date as each vinyl.

Original Jazz Classics (OJC), created in 1982 (under Fantasy Records), was relaunched in 2023 and has reissued more than 850 jazz albums to date. Its catalog includes thousands of genre-defining titles originally released by Prestige, Galaxy, Milestone, Riverside, Debut, Contemporary, Jazzland and Pablo. Since its launch two years ago, OJC has received resounding critical acclaim, with Record Collector Magazine declaring that “the sound is out of this world.” Tracking Angle described the OJC reissue of Thelonious Monk’s Monk’s Music as “remarkable” and “the best-sounding pressing” of the album to date. Absolute Sound raved about the stereo reissue of Mal Waldron’s The Quest, noting it “sounds fabulous—full-bodied, immediate, and crackling with energy.” Jazzwise went on to praise the series’ “peerless” quality, describing the reissues as “exceptional,” with “stunningly eloquent” sound. Meanwhile, Qobuz highlights the remastering work, stating it “breathes vibrant life into the original tapes.” Subscribe to the official YouTube channel here for more content from Original Jazz Classics.

Joe Pass – Virtuoso (Available February 28, 2025)

After guitarist Joe Pass released Virtuoso in 1973, almost every critic agreed that this was his best album, one living up to its name. (“Joe Pass looks like somebody’s uncle and plays like nobody’s business,” New York Magazine once enthused.) Before this album, Pass had stints with everyone from Gerald Wilson to Benny Goodman. But he also lost many years due to a dependence on heroin, and Virtuoso proved that cleaning up would only heighten his powers.

With this album (the first of his Virtuoso series), All About Jazz observed, “Pass had accomplished, using standard guitar performance techniques, to play lead melody lines, chords, and bass rhythm simultaneously and at tempo, giving the listener the impression that multiple guitars were being played.” Here, he adds a new sheen to already well-traversed covers, with a breathless reworking of ‘Night & Day’ and a dazzling, unpredictable take on ‘Cherokee.’ Meanwhile, ‘Blues for Alican,’ his lone original composition on the album, is a nimble, brightly soulful track that doesn’t disappoint.

Wes Montgomery – The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery (Available February 28, 2025)

The legendary artist is famous for his mellow, thumb-picking flourishes said to be born of necessity: not wanting to wake his kids or neighbors at night. This, combined with his penchant for playing in octaves, impressed saxophonist Cannonball Adderley, who pretty much discovered him. This also came to define The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery, one of the guitarist’s most stellar releases.

Here, he vaults Sonny Rollins’ bright “Airegin” to even greater heights, infusing it with a thrilling, joyous urgency. In contrast, his own song, “West Coast Blues,” comes in with a pensive swagger that stretches the idea of what it means to be bluesy. And sonic alchemist that he is, Montgomery couldn’t help but transform the downtempo popular standard “Polka Dots and Moonbeams” into a uniquely comfy embrace.

Of this 1960 release, AllMusic said, “Setting him apart from the rest, this recording established Montgomery as the most formidable modern guitarist of the era, and eventually its most influential.” In 2017, the album was even inducted into the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress for its cultural, artistic and historical relevance.

Thelonious Monk – Thelonious Himself (Available March 28, 2025)

“When you hear his name,” NPR declared, “you can expect to hear some of the most original and challenging music of the 20th century.” Although his achievements were undeniable, the sometimes-eccentric Monk wasn’t always considered a success. To that end, the 1975 Thelonious Himself was considered one of the jazz great’s significant breakthroughs after his artistic turning point with Brilliant Corners.

Thelonious Himself features just that: Monk alone, save one track featuring bassist Wilbur Ware and saxophonist John Coltrane. That track, “Monk’s Mood,” is a transcendent exercise in sonic expansion, with sounds gradually enveloping the room around them. The rest of the album is a bounty of unexpected treats: disciplined when it needs to be and subtly peacocking only when it makes sense. Highlights include his take on “April in Paris,” which is at turns escapist and wistful, and his nine-minute original track, “Functional,” strikingly sly in its experimentation. Wrote AllMusic, “Monk’s hesitant stride and thoughtful yet very unpredictable flights are always a joy to hear.”

Miles Davis All Stars – Walkin’ (Available April 18, 2025)

Walkin’, released in 1957, brings together Davis’ tracks recorded three years earlier as the Miles Davis All-Star Sextet and the Miles Davis Quintet. Unsurprisingly, it features a solid line-up, including saxophonist Lucky Thompson, drummer Kenny Clarke and pianist Horace Silver.

The title track had been in constant rotation at the trumpeter’s live gigs for a reason: It’s a smooth, shimmering example of hard bop-blues that follows Davis’ lead. The album’s next track, “Blue ’N’ Boogie,” however, is a showy, sprightly retort to the chilled-out ease of “Walkin’.” And the standout final track, “Love Me or Leave Me,” is even more blissed out in its freneticism.

Walkin’ is particularly interesting in how it illustrates Davis’ gradual break from bebop conventions. “Miles Davis’ album Walkin’ is one of those albums that should be in every jazz fan’s album collection,” noted Jazzwise. “Here Davis’ solos are the epitome of less is more.”

Miles Davis – The Musings of Miles (Available April 18, 2025)

The album, released in 1955, was the trumpeter’s first 12” LP. With pianist Red Garland and Philly Joe Jones in tow—who’d later become key parts of the legendary Miles Davis Quintet—the album is a fascinating peek into the mind of Davis rediscovering his superpowers.

The Musings of Miles is an important transition in Davis’ evolution towards some of his most seminal works. This album veers from carefree (the meticulous “A Night in Tunisia”) to elegant (“A Gal in Calico,” a lovely summertime escapade) to sentimental (the silky “I See Your Face Before Me”). “The interpretations are generally lyrical and melodic,” AllMusic explained. It turns out that part of witnessing Davis getting his groove back is witnessing the showman tame himself to exude a comforting warmth.

Known for their infectious rhythms and otherworldly melodies, BALTHVS promises an electrifying live experience that transcends musical boundaries.

The tour begins this February at the iconic Bahidorá Music Festival in Mexico and spans seven dates—and counting—across renowned venues in cities like San Diego, Los Angeles, and Denver, before concluding on March 1st at Seattle’s The Crocodile. The 2025 tour follows the release of their critically acclaimed album, HARVEST, and the upcoming A Remix Collection, set to be released on Mixto Records on January 31st. Pre-save A Remix Collection here.

“We can’t wait to connect with our fans and share the energy of our music live,” said Balthazar, guitarist and bandleader. “Every show is a unique journey, with its own set list curated for that city and that room. We’re excited to create unforgettable moments with everyone who joins us.”

Formed in 2020 in Bogotá, BALTHVS has quickly gained an international reputation as one of the most innovative psychedelic funk bands, blending a rich tapestry of musical influences into a sound that defies categorization. With glowing reviews from tastemaker outlets like Grimy Goods, which stated: “Whether driving tracks forward with cumbia-inflected percussion or swirling Middle Eastern music and modern funk into a psychedelic fusion, BALTHVS’ prolific output is matched by a consistent delivery on quality,” the band has earned a loyal following across the globe.

Janiva Magness Unveils Poignant Track ‘Hittin’ On Nothin” From Highly Anticipated Spring Release “Back For Me”

0

Janiva Magness has returned with her 17th album, Back for Me, produced by her longtime friend, producer, and collaborator Dave Darling. The album is a powerfully engaging, emotionally rich collection from a dynamic artist who continues to renew and redefine her widely celebrated relationship with the blues. Janiva’s far-ranging search for songs has unearthed a treasure chest of lesser-known gems by well-known artists (Bill Withers, Ray LaMontagne, Allen Toussaint, Doyle Bramhall II, Tracy Nelson, Irma Thomas) and deep-dive discoveries that connect with the rich feelings embodied in her voice and music, cherished by her fans. “I have always been into the B-sides,” she says. “There’s a freshness to doing a B-side rather than a well-known hit. I absolutely love the idea of shining a light on material that people are not familiar with.”

Back for Me is the 17th album for Magness, who has been honored with seven Blues Music Awards (including being named B.B. King Artist of the Year in 2009) and a Grammy Nomination for her 2016 album, Love Wins Again. In 2019, she published her memoir, Weeds Like Us, a vividly portrayed account of both the traumas of her youth (her parents’ suicides and her often-nightmarish experiences in the foster care system) and the hard-earned triumphs that have fueled her growth as an artist and in life.

Darling anchors the album’s core band, also featuring drummer W.F. Quinn Smith and bassist Ian Walker, with keyboardists Sasha Smith and Phil Parlapiano, guitarists John Schroeder and Robert “Chalo” Ortiz, Nick Maybury, and blues harp player TJ Norton also appearing on various songs. Ace guitarists Joe Bonamassa, Sue Foley, and Jesse Dayton put their stamps on their respective special guest appearances.

It’s a powerhouse set moving from the Chicago-via-Texas churn of “Masterpiece” (written by Darling and featuring searing guitar from Bonamassa) to the aching gospel-soul-funk of Bill Withers’ “The Same Love That Made Me Laugh,” to the haunting resignation of Bramhall’s “November” and Nelson’s torch ballad “Down So Low,” to the sly release “Hittin’ on Nothin’” – written by Allen Toussaint and originally sung by Irma Thomas, and blasting guitar, courtesy of Jesse Dayton.

She credits the band for bringing layers of dimensions to the songs. Aside from Darling, Parlapiano, and Schroeder, the main musicians were new to Magness, but as soon as the sessions began, she felt the fresh energy they brought.

“We tracked together live,” she says. “That’s one of the reasons that it sounds as solid as it does. And the other reason is because these guys have worked together on other albums with Dave and other projects, so they have a history. That brings an automatic intimacy to the backbone of the songs. And because they’re basically all a bunch of badasses.”

It’s that vulnerability that Magness sought in songs as she put Back for Me together, a search that took her deep into the mines of the blues and R&B for material she could internalize and personalize.
