Envy of None Announces New Album ‘Stygian Wavz’ Out March 14, 2025

0

Envy Of None are back today with news of their much anticipated second album, Stygian Wavz, set for release on Kscope on March, 14th. The announcement follows a recent flurry of activity from the Canadian/American band which saw them release two singles, ‘Not Dead Yet’ and ‘Under The Stars’, both of which included on the new album.

To celebrate the announcement, Envy Of None have shared a new single – album title track ‘Stygian Waves’ – alongside a new music video animated and directed by Mariano Biotico. Speaking on the new single and the upcoming album, Envy of None songwriter and bassist Andy Curran said “This track is a favourite of all 4 EONs. Despite the fact of the spartan lyrical content, this song features our sweet Maiah on lead vocals. Her harmonies and layers of vocals are literally symphonic! It’s hard to put a finger on what style or genre this one is…and we’re proud of that!”

Though they’d never describe themselves as such, Envy Of None are the living, breathing definition of a supergroup. No other band on earth could rightly claim to have Alex Lifeson – one of rock’s most influential visionaries – heading up guitar duties, with Andy Curran of Coney Hatch and Soho 69 overseeing bass/programming as well as producer extraordinaire Alfio Annibalini on keyboards. However, the star in this band could very well be its youngest member – American singer-songwriter Maiah Wynne – whose wonderfully emotive vocals are able to spin the music in new exciting directions that thrill to the core.

On their self-titled debut of 2022, the group were able to prove that they were a lot more than the sum of their parts, with an abundance of panache and finesse poured into a contemporary alt rock sound that was hard to predict and even harder to categorize. This year’s sophomore release, Stygian Wavz, is the sound of a band basking in the radiant glow of creative confidence and coming into their own, staggering the listener with every twist and turn encased within their heady mix of genre-splicing brilliance.

Ella Fitzgerald’s Unearthed ‘The Moment of Truth: Ella at the Coliseum” Live Concert Album Announced

0

Today, Verve Records announces a new and never-before-released live concert album from the First Lady Of Song, Ella Fitzgerald. The Moment of Truth: Ella At The Coliseum, will be released on February 28th on all formats and the title track “The Moment of Truth” is out now. The recordings were mixed and mastered in stunning clarity from the original analog multitrack tapes, resulting in pristine high-fidelity audio typically unheard of for a live concert recording of that era.

Listen to the new single herewatch the animated music video directed by Sharon Liu here, and pre-order the album here,

The Moment Of Truth: Ella At The Coliseum was recorded at the Oakland Coliseum on June 30, 1967, and was recently unearthed in the private tape collection of Verve Records founder Norman Granz. The album spans nine tracks, most never heard before, and features Fitzgerald accompanied by members of The Duke Ellington Orchestra at its prime. The resulting recordings underscore Fitzgerald’s reputation as a renowned live performer (“utter perfection, personified” —The New York Times). There was never a moment when Ella didn’t deliver; every night was her Moment of Truth.

This live album marks a particularly interesting time in Fitzgerald’s career. In the summer of 1967, she was in the middle of an especially rewarding three-year tour run and recording collaboration with Duke Ellington, and was incorporating hit pop songs of the late-60s into her concert repertoire—two of which are presented here for the first time on record: “Alfie” and “Music To Watch Girls By” are both standouts on The Moment of Truth: Ella At The Coliseum. Encouraged by members of The Duke Ellington Orchestra on stage with her, Fitzgerald is both playful and powerful— she cracks jokes with the audience before stunning them with her unrivaled voice.

Fitzgerald’s band includes the rarely-heard but hard-swinging trio of Jimmy Jones, Bob Cranshaw, and Sam Woodyard, while the Ellington band captured here at its peak, featured Cat Anderson, Cootie Williams, Harry Carney, Paul Gonsalves, Jimmy Hamilton, Johnny Hodges and Russell Procope. The First Lady Of Song meets The Duke’s Men — and it’s something to behold.

This newly unearthed live album, The Moment of Truth: Ella at the Coliseum, showcases Ella Fitzgerald’s timeless vocal brilliance, supported by a stellar trio featuring Jimmy Jones on piano, Bob Cranshaw on bass, and Sam Woodyard on drums. Adding to the magic, members of Duke Ellington’s Orchestra elevate the performance to legendary status. The trumpet section includes Cat Anderson, Mercer Ellington, Herbie Jones, and Cootie Williams, while the trombones are masterfully handled by Lawrence Brown, Chuck Connors, and Buster Cooper. The reeds bring their own dynamic flair with Harry Carney, Paul Gonsalves, Jimmy Hamilton, Johnny Hodges, and Russell Procope. Together, this extraordinary ensemble delivers an unforgettable concert experience that highlights the finest in jazz artistry.

Inhaler Share New Single ‘A Question of You’ From Forthcoming New Album ‘Open Wide’

0

INHALER have today shared another taste of their forthcoming new album with the release of stomping new single ‘A Question Of You’. It is the third track to be unveiled from the Dublin quartet’s brilliant third album ‘Open Wide’ which is released February 7th. It follows recent singles ‘Your House’ and ‘Open Wide’ and further showcases a band thrillingly coming into their own and taking their sound in audacious new directions.

Speaking about ‘A Question Of You’, frontman Elijah Hewson says, This is love song territory for me, about how in order to be honest with someone else you’ve got to be honest with yourself, like, ‘I’ve gotta sort my own shit out so I can be around other people’. It’s also a soulmates thing. The choir really changed everything on this one.”

Recorded at RAK Studios in London and produced by Grammy and Brit Award-winning Kid Harpoon, Inhaler’s new album ‘Open Wide’ reinforces their status as the ultimate modern guitar band, a group for whom jubilant pop melodies, intricate grooves and rock’n’roll dynamism are kindred spirits rather than strangers. Featuring 13 songs, it hones the sweeping, euphoric singalongs of their first two albums It Won’t Always Be Like This and Cuts & Bruises, into something more fully-formed, a record you can lose yourself in and one where every track feels like it could be a big single. Sonically, it’s an album where the band’s love of T.Rex, early MGMT, Prince, Depeche Mode and more nestles alongside the indie and garage-rock influences of their teens, and is a majestic celebration of who Inhaler are and everything they’ve done to get to this point. Its release next month coincides with band’s biggest ever tour of UK and Ireland, which includes two headline shows at the iconic rock venue Brixton Academy, and ahead of their 20,000-capacity Dublin show in May.

The full tracklisting is:

Their debut album, It Won’t Always Be Like This, hit #1 in the UK and Ireland, while their 2023 follow-up, Cuts & Bruises, topped the Irish charts and reached #2 in the UK. To maintain this momentum, bandmates and childhood friends Eli Hewson, Robert Keating, Ryan McMahon and Josh Jenkinson have spent the past few whirlwind years on a relentless world tour, supporting acts like Arctic Monkeys, Pearl Jam, Harry Styles, and Kings of Leon, as well as headlining their own shows, including a sold out 13,000-capacity homecoming show at the Dublin 3Arena last year.

Mumford & Sons Return With New Album ‘RUSHMERE’ And Share Title-Track

0

Mumford & Sons announce details of their new album, ‘RUSHMERE’, their first since 2018’s Delta. It is set for release on 28th March 2025.

To coincide, the band also share its debut single and the album’s title-track. A new video, portraying fans’ palpable excitement at hearing the single for the first time can be viewed HERE

Mumford & Sons released their debut album, Sigh No More, back in 2009. It blended their unique take on the classic folk blueprint with an exhilarating and euphoric sound more akin to a rock band and simultaneously helped to revive one of music’s earliest genres into a new century. It’s a sound that has since taken them on an incredible journey.

Through four albums, the British band have accumulated various awards for their work, notably two BRIT Awards, two GRAMMY Awards (including the prestigious Album of the Year), multiple chart-topping, multi-platinum album successes right across the globe, a string of festival headlining performances (including Glastonbury), and selling out arenas tour after tour (including their biggest numbers to date in the US in conclusion of the Delta tour back in 2019). A distinctively Mumford & Sons sound has since influenced and inspired recent artists to find huge success in their own right. You’d be hard pressed to find too many acts that follow a similar career trajectory.

Since the band’s last album release, they’ve explored solo passions and reconnected with friends and past collaborators. During a particularly prolific run of recent songwriting inspiration, it’s led them back to the magic of where it all started for them in a leafy suburb of London.

Rushmere is the spot where it all began for Mumford & Sons. The pond, located on Wimbledon Common in south-west London, is where Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, and Ted Dwane first hung out and imagined the initial idea of putting a band together. Rushmere was as familiar to them as the instruments they played, and is at the heart of their origin story.

RUSHMERE is the beginning for Mumford & Sons’ next phase, and it follows an intense period of creativity for the now trio (following the departure from the band of Winston Marshall in 2021). It’s an emphatic return.

The album was produced by six-time Grammy winner Dave Cobb and recorded at RCA Studio A in Nashville, in Savannah, GA, and back in the UK at Marcus’ studio in Devon.

Since the release of Delta, Marcus Mumford released his self-titled debut solo album in the Autumn of 2022, and last year, Mumford & Sons released a collaboration with Pharrell, Good People.

Annapurna and Langtang: Trekking in Filmy Style

Annapurna and Langtang: Trekking in Filmy Style:

Nepal, a nation tucked away in the lap of the Himalayas, is a heaven for trekkers and nature darlings. Among its bunch of trekking courses, the Annapurna Circuit and Langtang Valley treks stand out as two of the most notorious and breathtaking encounters. Each of these treks offers an interesting mix of culture, experience, and unparalleled common magnificence that clears out guests enchanted. From taking off peaks to rich timberlands and dynamic nearby societies, these treks are ventures through the exceptional soul of Nepal.

Annapurna Circuit: A Trekking Classic

The Annapurna Circuit trek is the encapsulation of trekking enterprises, displaying Nepal’s breathtaking differing qualities. From lavish green rice paddies and subtropical timberlands to the dry, windswept scenes of the Tibetan plateau, this path offers it all.

The travel takes you through charming towns, suspension bridges, and past old cloisters. At its heart is the Thorong La Pass (5,416 meters)—a tall point that tests your endurance and rewards you with sights that words can’t do justice.

The Annapurna Circuit too gives social drenching. You’ll experience Gurung, Thakali, and Tibetan-influenced communities, advertising understanding into the wealthy conventions of the region.

The Course and Highlights

The travel starts in the lavish subtropical valleys of Besisahar, where terraced areas and verdant timberlands rule the view. As you rise, the scene moves to elevated knolls, frigid streams, and, in the long run, the bone-dry good countries reminiscent of the Tibetan Level. Each day brings unused vistas, with the towering peaks of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain) forming a dazzling backdrop.

One of the key highlights of the trek is the Thorong La Pass, standing at 5,416 meters (17,769 feet). Crossing this tall mountain pass is both a physical and mental challenge, but the all-encompassing views from the peak are an unparalleled reward. The stark excellence of the snow-clad peaks and the sense of accomplishment make this a minute to cherish.

The Annapurna Circuit is not fair around nature; it’s too much of a trek through the wealthy social embroidered artwork of Nepal. The trek takes you through towns possessed by different ethnic bunches, such as Gurungs, Thakalis, and Manangis. These communities, with their unmistakable conventions, engineering, and neighborliness, offer a profound knowledge of the Himalayan way of life.

Flora and Fauna

The Annapurna region is a biodiversity hotspot. The trek passes through the Annapurna Preservation Zone, which is home to a variety of vegetation and fauna. From rhododendron woodlands that burst into dynamic colors in spring to sightings of slippery natural life like the snow leopard and Himalayan tahr, nature devotees will discover bounty to wonder at.

Challenges and Preparation

While the Annapurna Circuit is a fulfilling encounter, it’s not without its challenges. The tall elevation, eccentric climate, and long trekking days require legitimate arrangement. Acclimatization is significant, particularly when climbing to Thorong La Pass. Pressing the right adaptation, keeping up physical wellness, and being rationally arranged are key to an effective trek.

Langtang Valley trek: A Covered-up Gem

If there’s one thing that the tough trails of Nepal guarantee, it’s travel filled with extraordinary views and significant encounters. Among the numerous trekking courses that Nepal offers, the Langtang Valley trek and the Annapurna Circuit stand out as must-visit goals for travelers and nature partners alike.

These treks don’t fare well with the trekking elite—they charm each soul looking for tranquility, challenge, and the opportunity to interface profoundly with nature. Both trails are film-worthy, portraying extraordinary vistas at each turn.

The Course and Highlights

The trek regularly begins from Syabrubesi, a little town that serves as the portal to the Langtang Valley. As you rise along the Langtang Waterway, the path takes you through thick woodlands of oak, maple, and rhododendron. The sound of murmuring streams and the chirping of fowls go with you, making a peaceful ambiance.

The valley opens up significantly as you approach Kyanjin Gompa, a beautiful town encompassed by snow-capped peaks. At a height of 3,870 meters (12,697 feet), Kyanjin Gompa is the ideal place to acclimatize and douse in the excellence of the Langtang Extend. The town is too domestic to a noteworthy religious community and a conventional cheese manufacturing plant, including a social touch to the trek.

For those looking for an additional experience, a climb to Tserko Ri (4,984 meters) offers all-encompassing views of the Langtang Himalayas. The location of peaks like Langtang Lirung, Group Chenpo, and Dorje Lakpa, showered in the brilliant tones of dawn, is a memory to treasure forever.

Cultural Immersion

The Langtang Valley is overwhelmingly occupied by Tamang individuals, an ethnic bunch with Tibetan roots. Their wealthy culture, reflected in their celebrations, clothing, and ceremonies, includes a special measurement to the trek. Association with the local people and remaining in their teahouses gives a view into their warm neighborliness and strength, particularly in the wake of the 2015 seismic tremor that significantly affected the region.

Natural Wonders

Langtang Valley is an asylum for nature darlings. The Langtang National Stop, through which the trek passes, is home to a different cluster of natural life, counting red pandas, Himalayan dark bears, and different species of fowls. The dynamic wildflowers that sprout in the knolls amid spring add to the valley’s charm.

Cultural Encounter: Both treks offer wealthy social encounters, but the ethnic differences along the Annapurna Circuit are broader. The Langtang Valley, in any case, gives a more hinting interaction with the Tamang culture.

Packing Fundamentals: Carry suitable clothing for shifting climate conditions, durable trekking boots, a resting pack, and a to-begin-with help unit. Don’t disregard sunscreen and shades to ensure against the strong mountain sun.

David Lynch Turns Cooking Quinoa Into a Cinematic Masterpiece of Foreboding Grains

0

Blog Post: Leave it to David Lynch to make a simple quinoa recipe feel like an eerie, grain-fueled trip through the subconscious. Filmed as part of Inland Empire’s DVD extras, this is cooking—Lynch style—where ancient grains seem to hold ancient secrets.

Here’s the recipe to try yourself:

David Lynch Quinoa

Yield: 1 bowl
Cooking Time: 17 minutes

Ingredients:
1/2 cup quinoa
1 1/2 cups organic broccoli (chilled, from bag)
1 cube vegetable bullion
Braggs Liquid Aminos
Extra virgin olive oil
Sea salt

Preparation:

* Fill medium saucepan with about an inch of fresh water.
* Set pan on stove, light a nice hot flame add several dashes of sea salt.
* Look at the quinoa. It’s like sand, this quinoa. It’s real real tight little grains, but it’s going to puff up.
* Unwrap bullion cube, bust it up with a small knife, and let it wait there. It’ll be happy waiting right there.
* When water comes to a boil, add quinoa and cover pan with lid. Reduce heat and simmer for 8 minutes.
* Meanwhile, retrieve broccoli from refrigerator and set aside, then fill a fine crystal wine glass—one given to you by Agnes and Maya from Lódz, Poland—with red wine, ‘cause this is what you do when you’re making quinoa. Go outside, sit, take a smoke and think about all the little quinoas bubbling away in the pan.

Jon Pardi Announces Dual-Natured Fifth Studio Album ‘Honkytonk Hollywood’ Out April 11

0

Capitol Records Nashville artist Jon Pardi began careening down the highway over ten years ago, leading the charge to modernize honky tonk with roaring guitars and a roaring, good-time spirit. Pardi’s reputation for punchy, against-the-wind bravado has only grown, with his upcoming fifth studio album HONKYTONK HOLLYWOOD slated for release April 11. The 17-track album is the spiritual successor to his fearless breakout hits, and once again finds Pardi pulling out the stops to stay true to himself – yet giving his signature sound a new spark. Some tracks ring with pristine, pure-country tenderness, while others embrace fuzzed-out fiddles and soaring tripled guitars, or grungy bass lines and bottomless grooves. The title track, “Honkytonk Hollywood,” sets the mood placed strategically in the core of the album. It’s a grits-and-glitz tribute to the dual nature of Pardi’s life and mindset, and is now available to listen HERE with the full album available for pre-order HERE.

“All my albums have been rock and roll with a country flare – this one keeps on rockin’,” Pardi explains. “It’s also the most grown-up record I’ve ever made, all my soul basically. ‘Honkytonk Hollywood’ is for the Nashville that’s in my blood and it’s also a nod to my California roots. And right now, more than ever, I hope it’s a way to honor and lift up the people of my home state.”

Enlisting Jay Joyce for the first time as producer and stepping away from the traditional Nashville recording system, Pardi spent three solid weeks in the studio, building each track up from nothing with his touring band handling the vast majority of the recording.  Starting the album off in overdrive, “Boots Off” explodes from the speakers with a brash guitar hook and roadhouse-rocking stomp, representing the first of many hot-and-heavy love songs. Tracks like the grungy “Rush” continue the flirtatious fun, fusing alt-rock attitude with a synthetic skid-row crunch and howling vocals, perfectly capturing the swirling ecstasy of desire. Likewise, “Love the Lights Out” melts into a steamy soul rocker with slide guitar hooks and a throbbing pulse – a soundtrack for love that takes its time – and “She Gets to Drinking” sways with an intoxicating swing. Meanwhile, others push boundaries even further sonically, with the current single “Friday Night Heartbreaker” pairing a dark, tortured blast of hard rock with a sleek singalong vocal. “Hey California” cruises down a Sunset Strip of ‘70s-style studio-rock sophistication – complete with dreamy vocal stacks and atmospheric guitars. And with the slow-grooving “Don’t You Wanna Know,” Pardi’s twangy vocal pleads for romantic reconnection through a cloud of mellow, new-wave pop.

Elsewhere, family-minded balladry makes timeless trad-country feel modern, with tracks like “He Went to Work” tipping a hat to the steadfast fathers of the world. And Pardi calls the cinematic beauty of his lump-in-your-throat life ballad “She Drives Away” “undeniable.” He goes all-in on the moody “Gambling Man,” a busted flat tuxedo-twang warning to avoid his dice-rolling ways. And the two-stepper “Bar Room Blue” aches with a woozy, San Antonio swing. But by closing the set on “Kinda Wanna Keep It That Way,” Pardi once and for all declares his creative independence. A tranquil, acoustic-groove anthem with the easy strut of self-confidence, its message sums up where the restless counter-country star is at – and ultimately, the foundation of his success.  But no matter how far he roamed, Pardi’s barbed-wire vocal fenced the new ground.

“We did what we wanted, and it stands out because of it,” Pardi goes on. “Taking the chance paid off, and I kind of want to keep it that way.”

With four Top 5 albums which include 2016’s Platinum No. 1, CALIFORNIA SUNRISE, and Pardi’s reputation for punchy, against-the-wind bravado has only grown. Never afraid to break from the pack, fourteen RIAA-certified singles feature six No. 1’s (like the back-to-back 6x-Platinum “Head Over Boots” and “Dirt On My Boots”), and with years of blue-collar barnstorming behind him, the California native has earned his international headlining acclaim, alongside 9.3 billion global streams. For all the success of his multi-album, decade-plus climb, it has to come honestly, from a spark of true creative interest – and good old-fashioned fun. The lessons for Pardi, just made him stronger.

After headlining shows in the US and Australia including CMC Rocks this spring, the multi-Platinum country star and “spirited entertainer, with infectious energy” (Star Tribune) will kickoff his HONKYTONK HOLLYWOOD TOUR on April 25, hitting 16 arenas and amphitheaters across the U.S. with support from Corey Kent on select dates and Kassi Ashton.

The Hundred Mile High Tour gets underway March 13 at Charlotte, NC’s Amos Southend and continues through early April including a stop at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom (March 28). Artist presales via Seated begin Tuesday, January 21 at 10:00 am (local). Spotify/local presales start Wednesday, January 22 at 10:00 am (local). General on-sales start Friday, January 24 at 10:00 am (local). For complete details and ticket information, please visit thecamwhitcomb.com.

Currently featured globally on the cover of Apple Music’s Today Country, Whitcomb is poised for a milestone new year, kicking off with his selection for Amazon Music’s 2025 Artists To Watch and Shazam’s 2025 Fast Forward Artists. The Nanaimo, BC-based artist – who is also set for a series of February headline dates in his home country of Canada – will follow the Hundred Mile High Tour by traveling Down Under for a largely sold-out tour of Australia as special guest supporting RIAA Platinum-certified country singer-songwriter Sam Barber on his ongoing Restless Mind Tour. Additional dates in the US, Canada, and more will be announced soon.

The stacked live schedule follows a breakthrough 2024 for Whitcomb that featured the release of the beguiling fan favorite, “Medusa,” and his remarkable debut EP, Quitter, available everywhere now HERE. The acclaimed collection includes such profoundly personal singles as “Love Myself” and the courageous title track, “Quitter,” the latter of which was praised by Billboard as “an anthemic folk track in the mold of Noah Kahan powered by a kick-clap beat and Whitcomb’s growling vocal.” Along with its critical success, “Quitter” – which chronicles the 21-year-old artist’s battle to overcome addiction – further made history as Whitcomb’s first-ever single to reach the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 – his biggest chart success to date.

Whitcomb celebrated by traveling North America on his wide-ranging Quitter Tour, a hugely successful run of headline dates that included sold-out shows at such famed venues as Nashville, TN’s The Mil at Cannery Hall, New York City’s Mercury Lounge, and more. A series of Midwestern dates supporting award-nominated country star Morgan Wade saw Whitcomb winning over new fans at each and every stop.

Hailed by American Songwriter for a growing body of work that is “deeply personal yet widely relatable,” Whitcomb brings a unique perspective to his songcraft, deeply influenced by his own life experiences, including his battles with addiction and journey through the music industry. Having grown up in Nanaimo, British Columbia, he began working on a pipeline after leaving home at 17. Whitcomb’s life took a turn when he discovered singing at the age of 19, performing karaoke on weekends before his raw talent caught the attention of an American Idol executive through a video posted on Reddit, marking the beginning of his ascent in the music world. He began winning over fans as a contestant on Season 20 of American Idol, ultimately reaching the top 20.

Whitcomb carried on with increasingly popular independent releases including “The Devil I’ve Seen,” showcasing a raw and authentic songwriting style that draws listeners into his world through vivid storytelling and emotional honesty. 2024 kicked off with the arrival of Whitcomb’s label debut single, “Rocking Chair,” which quickly garnered over 40M combined views across socials prior to release and is joined by an official “Behind The Song” music video streaming HERE. Through his music, Whitcomb offers a glimpse into the complexities of his life and the darker aspects of human experiences, inviting audiences to connect with the more profound, often unspoken realities. His ability to weave personal tales into compelling musical narratives sets him apart in the songwriting landscape, resonating with listeners who find solace and understanding in his words.
