Skittles Last Minute Gift Shop Opens December 24 at 11:59 PM to Proudly Celebrate Canadian Procrastinators this Holiday Season

The Skittles brand had an inkling that Canadians tend to wait until the very last minute to complete their holiday shopping. A recent survey by the brand confirms Skittles has uncovered the truth. Nearly two thirds of Canadians would rather listen to the 12 Days of Christmas on repeat than face a busy, crowded mall. The Skittles brand concurs. The pain of holiday shopping can make shoppers want to leave gift buying until the fa-la-la-la last minute. While postponing shoppers are usually frowned upon, this season the Skittles team is honouring them with the ultimate last-minute shopping experience. Literally.

No longer is it scrooge-worthy to critique last minute shoppers. In fact, 81 Percent of Canadians agree more of us should be rewarded for taking our time, rather than being judged for it. The Skittles team is here to help, celebrating all those diehard delayers who put their shopping off until the very last minute, with the first-ever Skittles Last Minute Gift Shop.

The store, located at 423 Queen Street West, Unit 112, will open at 11:59 p.m. on Christmas Eve, quite literally – the very, very last possible minute! And will remain open until 12:59 a.m. Inside, the shop will have 60 unique gifts with a Skittles twist, representing every second of the last minute, one for each of the first 60 people in line, giving pro procrastinators even more reason to do zero shopping before the last minute. Just think, instead of showing up to Christmas with a 2018 cat calendar you could give the gift of a Ukelele adorned with Skittles candy.

If you find yourself at home on Christmas Eve just realizing you forgot something for cousin Jimmy, don’t stress. The Skittles team has you covered with its online store, which is opening its virtual doors at 11:59 p.m. on December 24, for 1 minute only, only 60 seconds!

Canadians can visit www.SkittlesLastMinute.ca from 11:59 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. to receive a coupon for $2 off select (151g, 191g and 320g) packs of Skittles candy. Although the online store won’t yet be open until that coveted last minute, you can visit the site starting December 10, to find out more and waste valuable shopping time playing The Skittles Waiting Game with fellow procrastinators and follow #LastMinuteGiftShop to see how the Skittles brand is living its most last-minute life this holiday season.

When Canadians were asked about the craziest-last minute gifts they had ever received their list included a singing mug, a battery warmer, and a “love you more than bacon” plaque. While all get points for creativity, the Skittles team wanted to give Canadians a place where they could pick-up some truly sweet gifts that are only available at the last minute.

In the spirit of the season, the Skittles team is donating $10,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada, the charitable partner of Mars Wrigley Confectionery. Check out www.SkittlesLastMinute.ca for more information.
