Toronto post-industrial groove-punk duo FORMING return with a striking and unsettling video for “Pluck It,” a techno-driven cut from their forthcoming EP ‘Night Shift.’ Created in-house by band member Danny Alexander, the visual amplifies the track’s dark electronic pulse with a dense collage of organic and grotesque imagery. Featuring a chilling opening line from Cecil Stehelin of Miserable Weekend, the song launches into a frenetic yet hypnotically danceable surge powered by Darryn Doull’s propulsive drumming and Alexander’s frenzied sequencing.
The video plunges viewers into a world where ballet dancers dissolve into microbial forms and blooming flowers collide with microscopic vibrations, blurring beauty and brutality. Alexander cites a lyric about becoming “an amoeba in the molten rock” as the spark for the concept, leading him down a rabbit hole of unsettling imagery. The contrast between everyday life and hidden biological chaos mirrors the song’s meditation on instability and the illusion of control.
“Pluck It” follows the ethereal debut single “Joëlle,” which featured Aniqa Qadir of Aniqa Dear. ‘Night Shift’ was engineered and mixed by Jay Merrow at Dining Room Sound and mastered by Greg Saunier of Deerhoof, with release slated for April 2026.
