30 years is a long time. For Huey Morgan, it’s also a reason to get back out on the road and remind everyone exactly what ‘Come Find Yourself’ meant when it landed in 1996, and what it still means now.
Morgan is heading out on a 13-date UK tour this October, performing the Fun Lovin’ Criminals debut in full with a brand-new band. The album that gate-crashed the Britpop party with pure New York swagger gets its proper anniversary celebration across some of the UK’s most beloved venues.
When ‘Come Find Yourself’ arrived, it didn’t slot neatly into anything else happening at the time. It fused rock, funk, blues, soul, hip-hop, jazz, and Latin rhythms into something cinematic and streetwise, a Lower East Side state of mind delivered with groove-heavy basslines and razor-sharp storytelling. It spent nearly 2 years in the UK charts and launched a cult that never really dissolved.
Breakout single “Scooby Snacks,” famed for sampling dialogue from Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, became an instant classic and the album’s cultural calling card. From there, Fun Lovin’ Criminals toured with U2, collaborated with the late B.B. King, and delivered a landmark Pyramid Stage performance at Glastonbury Festival in 1999.
Morgan puts it simply: “After 30 years, this record seems as fresh as it did when I first released it. I am so happy to be playing this again. Please come and check it out. It’s gonna be awesome.”
Away from the stage, Morgan has built a formidable second career as a broadcaster, author, and television presenter. He currently hosts weekends on Virgin Radio, bringing the same encyclopaedic knowledge of music and film that made him a compelling frontman to an entirely new audience.
This October tour brings it all back to where it started. The swagger, the groove, the storytelling, and the cool that made ‘Come Find Yourself’ a generational touchstone are all still very much intact. Tickets are on sale now.
