SiriusXM announced today that it will provide live, on-location coverage of the funeral Mass of His Holiness Pope Francis from St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. Coverage will begin at 3:30 AM ET on Saturday, April 26 on The Catholic Channel (Ch. 129), with the funeral Mass expected to begin at 4:00 AM ET and last approximately three hours.
Father Dave Dwyer and Lino Rulli, hosts on The Catholic Channel, will lead the broadcast live from Rome, offering commentary, prayers, and reflections throughout the liturgy.
For those unable to listen live, the full funeral broadcast will replay back-to-back for 24 hours, leading up to live Mass from St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Sunday at 10:00 AM ET.
In addition to the funeral Mass, SiriusXM will provide extensive programming dedicated to the life, teachings, and enduring legacy of Pope Francis across multiple channels:
- The Catholic Channel (Ch. 129) – Live coverage, extended reflections, and tributes
- EWTN Radio (Ch. 130) – Additional Catholic-focused programming
FOX News (Ch. 114), CNN (Ch. 116), MSNBC (Ch. 118) – Simulcasts of national news coverage of Pope Francis’ passing
In addition, once the Conclave to elect the next pope begins, The Catholic Channel will broadcast every vote in real time. Once the white smoke rises, signifying a new pope has been chosen, the channel will remain live with continuous wall-to-wall coverage as the world welcomes the new pontiff.
Listeners can hear the extensive coverage in their cars on SiriusXM channel 129 and can also stream the event on the SiriusXM app. More information is available here.
