Three-time Grammy winner and country music icon Tim McGraw returns with “King Rodeo (Live from the Inaugural Music City Rodeo),” out now via Big Machine. Recorded during his headlining set at the first-ever Music City Rodeo in May, the live track captures McGraw’s signature storytelling and heartfelt delivery in front of a sold-out Bridgestone Arena crowd. “We’ve been working on a new record and we thought that this song was appropriate for the night,” McGraw tells fans before launching into the performance, which blends stripped-down production with the raw energy of the audience.
The video for “King Rodeo” premieres today on YouTube at 11 am ET/8 am PT, followed by an exclusive YouTube AfterParty for Premium subscribers. The visual offers a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the song and its deep connection to the rodeo spirit, featuring World Champion riders Cody Custer and Tim O’Connell, and World-ranked bareback rider Cole Reiner. Written by McGraw and Tom Douglas, and produced by Byron Gallimore, Denny Hemingson, and McGraw himself, the track reflects McGraw’s continued mastery of blending emotional truth with classic country grit.
The release of “King Rodeo” follows McGraw’s spring single “Paper Umbrellas” with Parker McCollum, and comes ahead of his landmark concert at the Field of Dreams site in Dyersville, Iowa, on August 30. The show marks the first-ever concert at the legendary movie location from the 1989 Kevin Costner film, coinciding with his late father Tug McGraw’s birthday. With more live dates to follow through the fall, McGraw continues to honor his legacy as one of country music’s most enduring voices.
