Stoke on Trent indie pop artist Jorge Wilson writes music with a disarming honesty that truly reflects his roots. With a sound he describes as “modern vintage,” Wilson blends nostalgic textures with forward thinking production, fusing the charm of the past with the edge of today. Drawing inspiration from artists like Mac DeMarco, Steve Lacy, and The 1975, his music is an honest reflection of who he is and who he is becoming. After feeling unable to fully express himself in a previous band, Wilson launched his solo project in late 2023, writing, performing, and producing much of his material guided by the mantra “Listen to nobody.” That shining independence is channeled directly into his new single “Gemini,” an infectious, groove led track that captures the thrill of letting someone see your true self.
Written after an impromptu moment of inspiration, “Gemini” channels Wilson’s love of both 80s icons like Men At Work and Michael Jackson, whose “Beat It” inspired the song’s guitar solo, and contemporary innovators like Tame Impala. The track was recorded with producer Steven Griffiths at Dead Door Studios and explores the idea of duality, that side of someone you only discover once you are close enough to see beneath the surface. Since debuting his solo project, Wilson’s music has earned strong support from BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio USA, alongside features in The Sentinel. With “Gemini,” he continues to cement his place as one of indie pop’s most exciting new voices, creating a sound that feels both timeless and refreshingly his own.
