Irish composer, pianist, and producer Sarah Power makes her major step into the spotlight on December 5th with the release of her debut EP, ‘In The Shadows’, marking a significant artistic shift after more than a decade shaping soundtracks from behind the scenes. Power has spent years lending her atmospheric blend of felted piano, strings, and subtle electronic textures to internationally recognized projects, including screen credits as Assistant Composer on This Town and Swift Justice, and as Composer on The Delicate Art of Puppetry. Before focusing entirely on composition, Power toured internationally as a pianist and producer with Irish artist Stephanie Rainey, performing at venues like Electric Picnic and America’s Got Talent, experiences which now inform the emotional sensitivity and cinematic awareness at the heart of her writing.
Recorded between Treehouse Studios and her home studio in Dublin, ‘In The Shadows’ is a deeply personal body of work that captures the space “between stillness and movement, intimacy and scale.” The EP’s tactile piano tones meet layered strings and evolving textures, drawing inspiration from artists such as Hania Rani and Ólafur Arnalds. The project represents Power turning inward after years of helping to build other people’s stories, exploring what it means to claim space for herself, a shift she calls “a quiet record, but a real turning point.” The title track, “In The Shadows,” serves as the emotional center of the EP, starting quietly before finding its own voice in a hopeful motif, perfectly reflecting the composer standing in her own light.
