French audio brand We Are Rewind unveil Curtis, the GB-001 next-generation boombox, at NAMM 2026. Revealed following the global success of the WE-001 portable cassette player, the GB-001 combines a classic boombox form with modern audio engineering, offering cassette playback and recording alongside Bluetooth 5.4 and wired connectivity. With cassette sales having risen more than 400 percent over the past decade, the GB-001 arrives as a purpose-built system for physical media listeners who want scale, clarity, and volume beyond compact Bluetooth speakers.
The GB-001 delivers 104 watts of total power through four Hi-Fi class speakers, including dedicated woofers and soft dome tweeters for a full stereo image. We Are Rewind have built in dynamic power control, refined equalisation, and a spatialisation mode designed to widen the listening field. The cassette deck supports both Type I and Type II tapes with optimised biasing, internal speed regulation, and an active AC erase head for low-noise recording. Dual backlit VU meters provide visual monitoring for both playback and recording levels, reinforcing the hands-on nature of the system.
Designed with a neo-retro aesthetic, the GB-001 features physical controls for bass, treble, balance, tape type, and source selection, alongside microphone and instrument inputs for live use. A rechargeable, user-replaceable lithium-ion battery powers up to 10 hours in tape mode on speakers and up to 15 hours in auxiliary playback. We Are Rewind will showcase the GB-001 at NAMM, booth 10607, alongside the WE-001 portable cassette player, including new Duran Duran and Elvis editions. Pricing is set at GBP 379, EUR 449, and USD 579.
